They basically said that it's 3 parts and each one is comparable in length to a Final Fantasy XIII game in that series. So we're talking 40 hours each.

I've noticed recently that I'm no longer getting achievements pop up when I unlock them, they just appear in the unlocked list. I've looked at the notification settings and everything is on, so I'm not sure why this has stopped. Sources close to Giantbomb recently leaked rumored details regarding the upcoming PS4.5 upgraded console.

The console itself is codenamed the Neo and starting this October, PS4 developers are required to develop two versions of their games with one as the base version and one as the Neo version. In terms of overall improvements, the Neo is around 30% more powerful than the current PS4 console.

The NEO will feature a higher clock speed than the original PS4, an improved GPU, and higher bandwidth on the memory. The documents we've received note that the HDD in the NEO is the same as that in the original PlayStation 4, but it's not clear if that means in terms of capacity or connection speed. Starting in October, every PS4 game is required to ship with both a “Base Mode” which will run on the currently available PS4 and a “NEO Mode” for use on the new console.

In regards to 4k support, the Neo will be able to support 4k gaming but the games itself do not need to be native 4k for visuals. Only demand by Sony is the games must reach a minimum and/or stable frame-rate in order to be accepted as PS4 4k games.

In regards to PSN and online services, the Neo will share the same services and won't have its own separate store or online communities for games.

There are also several strict demands for the Neo that Sony currently won't bulge with no Neo-only games or Neo-exclusive content allowed for the PS4. This also carries over to the upcoming Playstation VR headset.

Sony seems committed to keeping the NEO and the original PS4 player bases connected. As such, there will be no NEO-only games, and Sony will not let developers separate NEO users from original PS4 players while playing on PSN. Likewise, Sony explicitly and repeatedly states that developers cannot offer exclusive gameplay options or special unlockables for NEO players—so don’t expect NEO owners to get a level editor or a special Rocket League car that you won’t have access to on your original PS4. That said, so long as both systems have the same feature, the NEO can run an improved version. A local co-op game that features four players on the base PS4 could offer an eight player co-op mode on the NEO, for instance. But again, don't expect those differences to transfer to online modes.

In regards to the October date, Sony currently isn't committed to it as the actual launch window and any games released in September must have a Day 1 patch ready prior to the Neo standards deadline.

In regards to older games, Sony is giving developers complete control if they want to make a patch for those games to take advantage of the Neo's beefed up specs.

Nothing regarding the price nor a possible trade-in program by Sony was revealed by the sources.

Graphics wise, it really is. The raw GPU power alone is going from 1.84 TF to 4.2 TF, so over double the performance.

Still bummed about the CPU since that's the open world game bottleneck, but they're really pushing the GPU in a closed box. Shame AMD couldn't have Zen ready in time.

I've read through some of the design documents and Sony are basically saying that traditionally CPU tasks should be moved to the GPU, for instance like cloth physics. Shit is so complex for developers though, they've not fully exploited multi core stuff and now they're offloading stuff to Compute on the GPU.

In other NEO news, according to Colin of Kinda Funny, the developers he's talked to aren't happy with this because of the Sony mandate of having both modes for October on. Games coming out in September are also affected by the mandate where the NEO mode needs to be patched in. I'm all for an upgrade because these consoles launched so weak and with me buying PSVR, I'll see the benefits, but this sounds like a fucking mess.

Microsoft are testing MULTIPLE new XBones each with a different spec, so fuck knows what they're thinking. They might just see which one they should launch as their mid-cycle upgrade, or go full Steambox where you buy a PC that you shove under the TV and the options for a box are low, medium and high or whatever.

Good or bad, with all this AND a new Nintendo console, E3 is going to be a lot of fun.

Only read a little about both games but Battleborn includes a campaign mode that can be played solo or in co-op. Overwatch seems to be just online multiplayer only.

Nah, they're pretty different. Battleborn plays like a first person MOBA with lanes and trash units and all that, while Overwatch is TF2ish.

Also, based on the betas, Battleborn isn't good and Overwatch is great.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Ubisoft is threatening a mass talent exodus occurring if Vivendi's attempts at a hostile ownership takeover continues or they are successful with it.

Ubisoft warned if Vivendi manages to become majority owners, it likely will mean the end of the creative freedom currently enjoyed within the company. Either by Vivendi being more likely to meddle with projects or by Ubisoft's own hands.

Outside of killing the assassins creed series with annual releases, I've enjoyed their aaa titles. Hell, they even made AC good again for a little bit with Black Flag.

I know ubisoft's open world formula has become a meme at this point, but I love it. Guess I'm biased though. Really love stealth/tactical games and ubisoft kills it when it comes to those. Also love 2d platformers and the rayman series is one ofthe best ever.

Mirror's Edge is being turned into a live action TV series

Electronic Arts is betting big on its resurgent Mirror's Edge franchise with a live action television series in the works.

The show will be produced by Endemol Shine Studios. While the name may be most recognisable to British viewers as the company behind reality show Big Brother, Mirror's Edge will be handled by its scripted series wing, responsible for dramas such as Kingdom and Hell on Wheels.

The Mirror's Edge games follow Faith, an undercover rooftop courier known as a Runner.

Played first-person, Faith uses parkour skills to navigate an oppressive, corporate-run dystopian future state.

It's likely the TV series will mirror this, although there are no confirmed details on cast, setting, or any changes that may be made in switching medium. Hollywood trade site Deadline currently only describes the series as being "a female-centred action series".

If Endemol Shine goes for an accurate translation of the cast and setting, Mirror's Edge would be one of, if not the, first western sci-fi series to be headlined by an Asian woman.

Its potential for big action scenes as Faith darts around city skylines and battles corporate security could attract the same audiences that flocked to the likes of Buffy, The Vampire Slayer and Alias.

"We clearly see Mirror's Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience," said Sharon Hall, president of Endemol Shine Studios, via statement. "It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing."

The original Mirror's Edge game was released in 2008, and while it never quite became a break-out hit, it attracted a cult following.

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, due for release next month on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, serves as a soft reboot, exploring Faith's origins and delving further into the politics of her world. It also does away with the clunky shooting mechanics of the first game while allowing for more freedom to explore an open world. The result is a thrilling free-run experience that finally lives up to the original's promise.

While further information on the TV show is yet to be revealed, EA yesterday released the new 'Why We Run' trailer for Catalyst.

At present, there is no release date for the Mirror's Edge TV series.
