Captain America; 5/10. Why? It is nothing special. X-men First Class was a great comic movie and a rock solid film by itself.

Captain American leans on the comic aspect like it is a crutch. Other than marking out for comic related stuff the movie is not that engaging as a film.

Captain America - 8/10

I agree with the post above. I never read the comic so I would not know, but it seems like it was made for that reason. Also, I was watching the whole damn movie and Neal McDonough was in the movie and I did not hear "Dum Dum Dugan" AT ALL! Funny ,if the Gremlins took over, he would be Yum Yum Dugan

Also, L Jackson always does the "Voiceover Figure In Dark, stepping into the light" approach, and WE GET IT now. Seriously. One time is good, but when you do it in Iron Man and other movies, it gets irrelevant.

8/10.

The ending is perfect closure because it's the same scene where the 1st one took off with the plane crash. I hope this'll be the last. I hate to say it but I like it better than the 4th... And there's one scene that scarred me a bit. The laser eye surgery. Man, I even do eye check ups myself hence why I'm wearing glasses when I go out, hopefully, I won't end up like that bitch. It's fucking painful to watch.
Also, I like the "twist" where one of the friends tried to kill the girlfriend cos he thinks killing someone would spare him from death.

Another sign why this movie is the perfect closure: notice in the end title sequence before the end credits, they showed number 5 on Final Destination title then it started counting down and show ALL of the previous clips from this franchise... I like it too.

For those of you looking for gore slasher, zombies, or paranormal ghosts look elsewhere. This is like the Vanishing.. Except we don't get to see the real face of the killer throughout the movie.. think of it as a voyeuristic snuff live film that'll give you nightmares of what it's like being stalked with a handheld cam by a faceless guy in the background of the scenery.

8/10.

What's even creepier is that the reason this movie was made is because of the director's experience similar to the movie and here's what he had to say:

“The inspiration for this movie came from an incident in my own life when I was a 10 year old boy. I was sleeping over a childhood friend’s house and his mom left us home alone for a few hours while she was out working late. So we stayed up eating ice cream and watching TV. Then a knock came at the door. We were taught never to open the door to strangers so we politely asked, ‘who is it?’ There was no answer. We looked through the peephole, but it was broken. Another knock came at the door. We said louder ‘yes, who is it?’ There was still no answer. We could see under the crack of the door that someone wearing big black boots was standing still on the other side of the door, but they never answered. There was just a soft terrifying knock knock that came every 30 seconds. After about the fifth knock knock we were screaming at the top of our lungs ‘who the F**K is it?’ I have never been so incredibly scared in my entire life. There was never an answer, just silence for 10 terrifying minutes. That was more than 30 years ago, and I’m still scared to death wondering what would have happened had we opened that door.”

Straw Dogs - 6/10

As of right now anyhow. A film has to be really good for me to give it a 7 and beyond. I thought the film was entertaining, and very intense. Not really a horror film like I thought. It's more like a thriller/suspense type of film. Even though it's a lot like the old-school Straw Dogs from 1971, it does it's own thing plenty of times. I was worried it was going to be like the Psycho or True Grit remakes where it's a complete copy, but I am happy to type it wasn't, and I look forward to watching it again on blu-ray.

We Need to Talk About Kevin - 8/10 – I thought the above trailer for this looked really good so I was really excited for this, Now, I haven't read the book myself but those I know who did were disappointed with this movie. And it definitely feels like something was lost in bringing the book to film. Lynne Ramsay's direction is terrific and Swinton is great, but I felt like the film missed its mark a little bit. Want to watch this one again though.

Wuthering Heights - 6/10 - Gritty and realistic adaptation of the Emily Bronte novel. An interesting experiment by Andrea Arnold, a director I quite like. First half was good, second half couldn’t keep my attention. I know the main character Heathcliff isn't supposed to be an overly sympathetic character or anything but I found him quite loathsome.

Dark Horse - 7/10 – New film from Todd Solondz about a fat 35 year old man-child who lives with his parents (Christopher Walken, Mia Farrow) and buys expensive action figures, he meets a depressed Selma Blair at a wedding and the two begin a weird relationship. Went in with low expectations because I’ve found Solondz post Happiness work to be spotty at best and the reviews coming out of Venice were not very good. I found it pretty funny and actually quite interesting. The third act turns into a surreal series of dreams that sympathetically examine how big fat fucking losers perceive themselves and those around them. This also had my favourite post movie Q&A. Solondz was super awkward and weird but really nice at the same time. Think the Q&A is on youtube actually.

Shame - 9/10 - My favourite film of the fest, probably my favourite film since The Wrestler. A poetic character study about a corporate Manhattanite that has “sex addiction”. Fassbender turns in the best performance of his career and Steve McQueen managed to surpass his brilliant Hunger with this one. Despite being about addiction it isn’t anything like Requiem for a Dream, which I found to be a sensationalized depiction of the destruction of addiction, and goes a somewhat more subtle route, and more effectively examines how addiction can be symptomatic of something larger. Also had the most depressing threesome scene ever and Fassbender has a magnificent penis.

I Wish - 8/10 – Hirozaku Kore-eda is one of my favourite living directors and one of the few Japanese directors continuing the humanistic tradition of the golden age of Japanese cinema and not making fucked up action/horror movies. Doing what he does best here, although a little more accessible.

Rebellion - 6/10 – La Haine is a masterpiece but everything Kassovitz has done since has been shit. This was okay. I don’t know, nothing really memorable.

Killer Joe - 7/10 Kinda like a trashy version of an early Coen brothers movie. Matthew McConaughey is refreshingly dark and makes Gina Gershon simulate giving him a blowjob, using a piece of KFC chicken.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Hj2lR6Yp-gY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Alps - 8/10 – New movie from Dogtooth director Giorgos Lanthimos, not as good or as visceral as Dogtooth but still enjoyable. It’s about a group of people who are paid to act as recently deceased people to make the grieving process easier for families. It’s a bit of a mess of a film but Lanthimos style and deadpan humour is so engaging that I feel like watching it again.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home - 7/10 – New Duplass brothers movie, I think I prefer the dark awkwardness of Cyrus, but this was still good. This was their most plotty and accessible movie, but they don’t abandon their unique style. I also liked that it was funny, but there wasn’t really any jokes.

Once Upon a Time in Anatolia - 9/10 - Loves this one as well. Ceylan's crime story leaves out the extraneous details to focus what is universal for all violent acts and the investigations that follow. There are people involved with the investigation, people who kill, and the family of the victims. The film isn't overly clinical either, lots of humour, emotion and of course Ceylan's unique and evolving cinematic rhetoric.

The Descendants - 7/10 – New Alexander Payne movie starring George Clooney. Clooney plays an out of touch father/husband who suddenly has to take the lead now that his wife is in a coma and her Will stipulates to have her life support removed. He later finds out his wife was cheating on him and wants to find the dude she was fucking. I like Payne’s adult approach to filmmaking, and he does a good job balancing the movies sadness with humour. This will probably get a lot of Oscar buzz.

Drive - 8/10 – Loved the quiet moodiness of the direction. Surprised by the movies ultra violence however. Kinda curious what the average person will think of this one, I wonder if most people are expecting something similar to the Fast and the Furious movies.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nI_U7Oudl00" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Into the Abyss - 7/10 - Werner Herzog documentary about a triple homicide in Texas. It lacks Herzog’s quirkiness and at times felt a little Datelineish but Herzog knows how to ask better questions than any TV journalist hack and he slowly peels back the interesting fabric of people’s lives. He even interviews one of the killers who is eight days away from being executed. The movie is unquestionably anti-capital punishment, but Herzog doesn’t lecture, he shows it how it is, and how this horrible practice damages the lives of all involved. Including, a correctional officer who was involved with hundreds of state killings, at one point was even doing two a week. Eventually the job broke him down, and he had to jeopardize his pension by quitting, he justifies the decision and poignantly asks us to question our own mortality by pointing out that on your tombstone there is a birth a death and in-between these things there is a hyphen, and asks “How are you going to live you dash?”

Best part of the movie: After the end credits, there's a bonus rap video "Shark Bite" performed by the cast themselves but it's not a Gemstar cover... Almost sound similar though... Still, I love that song! I think I'm in love with Sara Paxton. She's starting to look like Reese Witherspoon too..

Other than that, I enjoyed sharks leaping out of the water eating everyone in sight. Could've been better if it was a Sci-Fi cheesy TV stuff but instead we get 3-d theater release.

I like the twist

that there are humans as well among them who like to kill people just for the sake of getting their fame on a documentary Discovery Channel Shark Week. Yes, you heard me. they mentioned it in the movie which I just LOLed. That's their reason why they put the sharks in the lake there and make snuff films of people getting eaten.

This movie wasn't bad at all. The way the kid talked to his dad was a bit much, and I can tell you that the movie full got it's PG-13 rating due to Language more than anything. The chicks boobs were shown well in her lose tops. The soundtrack was on par for the film. The fighting was good, but the end fight could've been done better and longer. The family and love story really wasn't too much. It had it's moments, but overall it was clear that the family deals there, the love story is there, and it's what's moving things along. I have to say I was shocked with how the aunt acted. And lastly, this movie had LOTS of PRODUCT PLACEMENT, but hay at less the kid likes Dr.Pepper.

I agree with Ebert saying this one had low expectations and just enjoy the show. And robot boxing is more entertaining and metal pwnage carnage to watch than the boring human counterparts. Why risk of human fighters paying medical bills on physical injuries when you can just put robots and smash each other?

Atom the main hero robot's vocals reminded alot of Bumblebee. While Zeus the main villain champ robot, seems invincible and resembles alot more menacing than Megatron himself. :P

Paranormal activity + Alien + The Thing + The Ruins = This movie... I didn't realize the producer of this one is the same guy who made Nightwatch/Daywatch and Wanted movies.

Anyway, the only clues you'll get from watching this are the moon rocks themselves aside from the dead Russian cosmonaut and another abandoned moon lander from Russia. The moon rocks are actually spider like aliens that are heavily camouflaged or moon rocks are the spider alien eggs.Fairly decent for a low budget sci-fi. There's a brief gory scene where the astronaut gets a moon rock ripped out of his fucking stomach.. This is like the anti-thesis to Ron Howard's feel good astronaut movie Apollo 13. The ending is the twist where NASA KNEW ALL ALONG about those alien rocks and what's more upsetting is that THEY refuse to bring the astronauts home for fear of infected moon rocks that were embedded in one of them. Looks to me the Moon rock spider aliens aren't the only villains in this movie.

EDIT: They even added stock footage of president JFK's famous Moon Speech. Hah. Bonus for that one.

Wtf was this. It wasn't terrible, but it kind of fell apart once they got to the soldiers. I understand the metaphors for losing their humanity, and that they knew the rest of the world wasn't doomed. But this whole last half just seemed weird and fucked up. Like, it only took 28 days for these soldiers to turn into cold blooded rapists and murderers? Especially with the knowledge that the rest of the world was still operating as usual and that it was just the island that had been quarantined?

Also, did he really survive? There were those cutaways in the hospital of her trying to save his life, and then it flashed the word 'HELL' on the hill like he was dead or something. But then suddenly he's alive, and they finish it into HELLO. (recurring theme, i got that) Dunno. Really confused as to how it really ended.

Highlight of the movie was when he walked into the church and said 'hello' and shit was like "MINE?!" all of a sudden.

aka Dark Souls. I REALLY enjoyed this... I like the idea of associating zombies with the oil industry factories despite in reality the world is having an oil crisis... How did the zombies vomit this unusual black oil coming out of their mouths? The only clues you'll see in this movie are a bunch of orange jumpsuit guys in facial masks with driller machines that kill people drilling their heads WITHOUT DAMAGING THE BRAIN...

Even more interesting is that despite the victims became zombified and their bodies start to look like black oil oozing out, they NEVER spit oil on their victims until the virus gets evolving and fucking shit up later in the movie. Nice concept.. The ending is just sick and twisted I refuse to give it away.. And sometimes, I like to call this movie a Norweigan version of The Crazies.

Even the trailer doesn't disappoint: The black oil slime reminded me of Creepshow 2: The Raft story.

But still, fairly watchable if you can get past the cliche romance Twilight fans swooning over these days.. I could care less of who really attacked that mom from the start. And all she said was that there are others like her THOUSANDS of it..

P.S. Even the main hero looks like Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe look-alike. I KID YOU NOT!

The end credits scenes should've been added to the movie cos it could've been much more.. Esp. even after the end credits finished, we get a hot chick girlfriend in a graduate toga with red wolf eyes saying, "Now you believe us?"

Like I said it's not as great as Underworld but it was barely watchable and I prefer this one over Twilight shit anyday.

EDIT: Last time I checked, there was Howling V: The Rebirth... Rebirth or Reborn. Hah, another cheap editing on that word.

Alexander - 6/10

my god this movie coulda been so great but ended up a complete fucking mess.

for starters Angelina Jolie annoys me as Olympias with what sounds like a russian accent

Colin Farrell with blond hair as Alexander and his Irish accent slipping out

Jared Leto portrayed Hephaestion

I thought Colin and Jared had a pretty good screen presence together however

Rosario Dawson as Roxana was probably the most annoying character in the movie

And I'm not one of those Sundance theater people who stopped watching and walked out cos of the sick violence in this one.. I'm already used to cannibalism in movies these days.

The whole plot was like Wrong Turn + I Spit on Your Grave. Except this time the real villains are the father and son... They fucking had it coming.. Why do you need to keep a fucking wild cannibal woman and try to "civilize" her when you're not being civilized in your family?

Really enjoyed the ending of the woman finally getting her desserts literally from the evil father and son who're abusing her like shit. Although I felt bad for the mom. She didn't do anything evil to the wild woman.

REALLY enjoyed this one too. I liked the concept of time as the new currency and money... How many days you get to spend on food, sex, everything. Even your death clock too!??? Fucking scary.. It really almost made me burst to tears in one scene where mother and son run across the dark road cos she had a fucking few seconds to live and BOOOMM She was no more. That made me sad.. I think this is my new fave sci-fi thriller movie. And the FBI in the future, they call themselves the Time Keepers.. Really interesting plot.

Although the twist irony is that rich people get to live 1000 yrs or more while the rest last only for a few months.. Some life eh? And even interesting is that when people inherit borrowed time on others, it affects their aging process STOPPING AT 25 YRS OLD ONLY....

For cat lovers, this is a fucking ultimate nightmare. There are some scenes of cat cruelty like lethal injection or burning them in the furnace once they're already rotten corpses. It'll fucking break those cat-lovers' hearts to pieces if they can stomach alot of dead cats in this gruesome Korean scary flick. Thing is, there's a ghost that even avenges anyone who kills cats.. Beware cat abusers.. It could be your last. I liked it.

The script was.....very weak. There was a phone call conversation in this movie that I might try on a girl sometime.

Me: I thought I'd give you a call. What you got on? You in your pajamas?
Her: T-shirt.
Me: Yeah, me too. We got a lot in common.

I'm sure she'd fall for me immediately after I say that. I might try it on this girl tomorrow at work.

"You wearing shoes? Me too. I guess we got a lot in common."

Another Earth 7/10 Not as much what you'd expect giving the premise that a second earth is discovered, contact is made and realize it's essentially a mirror image. Instead they do some awesome character work, not exploring the unknown but rather the known. It did hook me in at parts but overall I did feel it was lacking something. I feel if you take out the sci-fi aspect the story would have still been powerful, but the sci-fi part added something a bit more for the better, adding some sort of hope. But since the Second Earth wasn't the main focus ever, I found it added to the movie like said but also took away from it. I found myself wondering more about the second earth with not much being discussed/answered about it. As for the very end, I read it one way and hit up IMDB and that after and saw most people read it a different way. I think arguments could be made for both ways, but recognize in the end my way is probably the wrong way. But think I like my way, the more depressing ending better.

So much for the backstory of the mountain wood cannibal men... But the prequel origin is a Virginian Asylum?? Really... Other than that, descent body count gore but not that great... 1st and 2nd are still my faves.. Let's hope there's no 5 6 and so on... The redeeming factor is that supposed to be the tow truck is the same one used in the first film. Same with the cannibals named Saw Tooth, Three Fingers, and One Eye.. So, perhaps this should be the final nail in the coffin.. I hope so.

I watched Clerks from beginning to end today for the first time. Kevin Smith did a great job directing this. He filmed a car scene that was extremely well done because he did the camera technique where you move it back and forth between the two people talking and it actually looked like someone was driving the car somewhere rather than cutting the scene and not knowing exactly where someone is going. Makes sense when you think about it.

I'd give it a 10/10.

I REALLY REALLY enjoyed this... Reasons why the Jigsaw style killer came to be, all because of the little cyber bullying these 4 victims did to his daughter online in a website making stupid comments of suicide on cam live with overdosing pills. It's like the British horror version of that Jessi Slaughter incident. I refuse to give away at the ending of what happened to the daughter of one of the female victims. It's kinda sad and depressing.

All in all, despite I disagree with the others saying the ending was a bit silly and preachy 5 mins, I liked the idea of what it feels like when you try interacting with networking sites to the person you don't know and has this vengeance is swift to those who insult others kind of attitude.. Careful, this might be cautionary tale to those who go out of their way of personal insulting someone online...

I really liked the toned sinister British voice of the Alligator cartoon head talking like I'm watching a horrific Big Brother UK version inside the plane... One half and a hour of plane madness, I really liked the scenes where the killer asks personal questions ranging from the topics SIMILAR to the ones posted in this Facebook generation, Sex life, drugs, alcohol occupations etc.. It even gets more personal in some of the later questions. Fucking disturbing.

I think I may never look at cyber-bullying someone online the same way again.. Who knows? I think this kind of psychotic person portrayed in the movie who kills because of the online personal insults from 4 victims he has chosen, I don't know maybe they had it coming..

Even the trailer makes it more intense. Btw, that website http://www.all2gethr.com/ was REAL. IT EVEN HAD ONE SCENE IN THE MOVIE WHERE THE LINK IS.. I CHECKED IT OUT AND IT WAS REAL. IT EVEN HAD A ALLIGATOR CARTOON HEAD AS WELL. FUCKING CREEPY MOVIE FAVE FOR ME THEN. Go see it.

9/10.

Plot is very similar to May but she doesn't assemble body parts to make a friend. She disposes it. The director is the guy who made Zombie Strippers on this one even though I haven't seen it. But this was a fairly decent good movie... Sure throughout the movie after the death of her BFF, she does downward spiral of cocaine blowjobs, necrophilia over her dead BFF body in a coffin, and killing ex-boyfriends just like May would do.. She even chopped them up in a kitchen and tried microwaving. Fucking sick weird movie.

The ending was the landlord and cops inside her apartment who already discovered body parts and heads and she enters the room saying, "what?" but still, it could've been better if she killed all 3 of them despite getting caught.

Best part was when she keeps watching news full of war, poverty and riot stuffs that she strips herself naked and masturbates in front of her TV!! And her cellphone ringtone throughout the movie is Ozzy's Crazy Train song..
