Speed Racer - 5/5

The most feel good thing I seen in a while. I can talk for a long time about what I loved about this purposefully cheesy very animated movie, but I won't. I loved this movie and fucking teared up at the climax. A great twist on the 'sports movie', a great anime adaptation, a nice family movie, very stylish, and again a feel good movie.

English dub of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984) - 7/10 Was an entertaining little film. Nice plot that wasn't afraid to break the mould of PG films a bit. I recognised Patrick Stewart's voice in this instantly and that woman whose name I can't remember who does a bunch of voices on The Simpsons and Futurama (her character had basically the exact same voice as 'Mom' from Futurama), but after looking it up on wiki I never realised how many well known actors are in it, Uma Thurman, Shia LaBeouf, Edward James Olmos, Mark Hamill. I might have to watch it again.

Pretty good. Have you seen Hayao Miyazaki's other works? Some are pretty fantastic. Honestly like subbed versions the best though. Have watched both versions of many of his films, and the 'original' subtitled versions just seem to make more sense with the dialogue and such. They just seem to flow better for some reason. Some dubs kinda screw things up a little bit.

House (1977, Japan).

Craziest movie I ever saw. I played a drinking game where I took a shot after any scene that made no fucking sense. I quit the game after I threw up. I owe myself 9 shots.

In other words, I'm making this post completely fucking wasted. From what I can recall, it's awesome. It is incredibly awesome, but do NOT make a drinking game out of it. You WILL die. Truth be told, I think Colin Mochrie's son does a better job of reviewing this movie than I could possibly dream of in my current state.

To me, yeah. It's a movie cliche and proves that he's human. Every movie (obviously there are exceptions) seems to have the main character falling for some girl. Be original.

I did like the closing shot of him looking down for her, though.

Rock of Ages:

Terrible movie, horrible acting, terrible singing for the most part, horrid plot. Mary J. Blige is a good singer, but she sings hair metal as well as Jani Lane could sing '90s RnB: not at all.

That said, I was laughing my ass off during the whole thing. Tom Cruise seemed to know this movie was going to be a piece of shit, so he hammed it up, fusing Blackie Lawless, Axl Rose, and Bon Jovi. Sadly, he needed more Blackie and Axl and less Bon Jovi for the songs he was singing. Most hilariously awesome moment of the movie? (tie) a. Russel Brand and Alec Baldwin singing "I Can't Fight this Feeling Anymore" to each other before kissing. b. Generic Pretty Boy Rocker Hero opening up "I've Been Waiting" while taking a piss. and c. Diesel was one of the bodyguards for Tom Cruise. AKA Kevin Nash was more or less playing Diesel from his early days of being Shawn Michaels' Roadie. I hope this gets Rifftrax'ed. I had many of my own jokes in my head while watching it.

Biggest Disappointments:

1. Was there scenes in a strip club? Yes. Where was the best pole dancing? In the Bourbon Room (which was NOT the name of the strip club)
2. Again there were scenes in a strip club. Guess the two things there wasn't? Nudity and Motley Crue's "Girls, Girls, Girls"
3. I think they managed to find a chick who looks like a bleach blonde Olivia Wilde, but without the talent. Though her singing part of "I want to know where love is" with the lace from Cruise's leather pants in her mouth was funny.
4. The folks sing Whitesnake's "Here I go again." Guess whose voice got closest to David Coverdale... If you said Paul Giamatti, you would be right, and laughing your ass off.
5. Church Ladies and Rockers have a sing off. Rockers sing Starship. Church Ladies sing Twisted Sister. Wait, what?
6. Pretty Boy Rocker Hero spent much of the early parts of the movie playing his guitar with all the talents of Van Hammer.

Now, to score it:

For doing what it set out to do: 1/10
For being entertaining: 8/10

Amazing Spider-Man. HOLY FUCK. Much more awesomeness than the Sam Raimi trilogy put together and more accurate persona of Peter!! Ha, the plotline is a bit like the 1st one explaining how Spidey got powers and BEFORE Mary jane, there was Gwen. And stay tuned for the extra ending halfway through the end credits... Emma Stone as Gwen character is a bit meh awkward but damn, I got a new crush on her... :) The Lizard Man oftentimes resembled a mixture of Godzilla and Batman's nemesis Croc in the Arkham game series.

All in all, really enjoyed it. The 3-D almost got me dizzy spells from the scenes of 1st person view of Spidey swinging from tall buildings..

Circuit - 7/10

I found it to be a rather poignant and fascinating look into the world of circuit parties

the presentation and look of the movie was just amazing

Jonathan Wade-Drahos is a rather bland actor and it definitely showed at times as he played the lead character John

Andre Khabbazi as Hector was much more interesting and brought more to the character and your heart goes out to him as you watch the movie

The story is about a smart, handsome gay cop from a small closed minded town who moves to Los Angeles to live an openly gay life. After his first party in the Hollywood Hills, he becomes friends with a gay male escort and falls into the circuit party scene which slowly tears him apart. He becomes obsessed with muscles, drugs, parties, and the fast gay West Hollywood night life which eventually ruins his personality and spiritual growth

it was really rather weird seeing William Katt aka Tommy from Carrie in this movie as circuit party promoter Gino

I am such an enigma that I can confuse myself and twist my words around and......what am I trying to say?

I felt as if though I HAD to watch Easy Rider. Since I love movies and want to work in the film business, I find it one of those movies that's a "prerequisite" that I had to watch. Sure, Easy Rider, to me, was enjoyable throughout, but I wasn't super duper impressed by it, as many people have asked me if I've seen it so I wasn't so damn impressed by it yet I had high expectations as I watched it. Get it?

My favorite part was when Jack Nicholson was on screen. He was a funny guy and is still a funny guy and I do enjoy his acting, even back in the day I enjoyed him and I still enjoy him today. He stole the show for me.

PorkSoda

Exactly. I thought both movies were pretty "Meh. Take it or leave it" so I thoroughly enjoyed it throughout. I got into A Thousand Words more than I got into Easy Rider. The times I did get into Easy Rider AND A Thousand Words, I was enjoying it. Neither movies really left a huge impact or impression on me.

This movie, however, I didn't thoroughly enjoy at all. It was just some guy in a place and STUFF happened. I didn't like it and thought it was a waste of time, yet since I want to work in film, I felt as if I had to watch it.

The Muppets (2011) - 4/5 Stars - A funny movie, it all the right beats, but starts a little slow. Jason Segel is one of my favorite actors now.

The Adventures of Tintin - 3/5 Stars - Never into Tintin when I was a kid, but it was pretty good. I can see why Tintin has been around all these years.

The Last Man on Earth - 5/5 Stars - Best I am Legend adaptation to date. Take that Will Smith. Who can stand toe to toe with Vincent Price?

Went to see 3 in the cinema last week:

Killer Joe - 6.5/10. Very intense with some really good performances but that last scene was so uncomfortable and for me, not in a good way.

Amazing Spiderman - 7.5/10 (I have a blog about it and the previous trilogy here - http://jari87.tumblr.com/)

Storage 24 - 3/10. Blissfully short film with the most unlikable cast ever assembled. Only highlight would be the interaction between the old man and the alien + the alien looked alright.

Not the worst game-to-film movie but at the same time was pretty dull most of the time until near the end. Also pretty dumb to change the overall storyline by having the Agency be the ones double crossing him since that doesn't really happen in the games.

While looking up Genesis Rodriguez I saw that she was in this and downloaded it. Except I'm like maybe 65% sure the subtitles are wrong. It wouldn't surprise me if the subtitles were translated poorly to make it funnier, but I think these were just some dude's translations. Which may have made it even better than the real ones if those weren't the real ones. I dunno.

Rikidozan: A Hero Extraordinaire

The second greatest wrestling movie of all time, behind the Wrestler. It tells the story of the Godfather of Japanese Pro Wrestling, Rikidozan. Really sad, really good.

The cameos were awesome. Keiji Mutoh, Mike Barton, Jun Akiyama, Shinya Hashimoto (sp?), Go Shiozaki, and Rick Steiner were in the movie. It's in Japanese, but I like foreign cinema, so I was cool with reading subtitles.

Dark Knight Rises is totally right up there with the other one!!!! Minus the 3rd word. :P Bane's methods are almost as cunning as Ledger's Joker when it comes to taking city hostages and turning it into his own. And I didn't expect a twist there. I never thought he had a "partner." Sorry, can't spoil on that one. There's even a reference to Batman's sidekick Robin.. Man, I never thought his real name other than Dick Grayson.. Ha, again, no spoiler cos well, it's still 3 hours yet I was NEVER EVER BORED. Nolan loves to play emotional endings with a bit of happy face.. Hahahaha. Although it's unlikely Bane will be oscar nominated for best actor. Once again, Nolan knows how to make inception style thrills and viscera to the superhero trends.

As for Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman, it's OK 2nd best... But never thought I'd see the day she'll be channeling Michelle Pfeiffer's femme fatale kick-ass and even gets to ride Batman's biker..

The Amazing Spider-Man - Solid 4/5 Finally got around to seeing this and I'm so glad I caught in theaters even though I had lower expectations going into it must say I really enjoyed it. Without going into too much detail to avoid spoilers I must say that it was better than Raimi's in certain aspects. That's not too say that it's better overall the story felt deeper in some regards and the visuals were great but somehow it just didn't quite have that epic feel to it. In fact I felt a little almost too sci-fi but in the same token at least it was a little more grounded rather than over the top. Garfield does a good job as Spider-Man but I didn't care for him as much as Peter Parker but that could be since he was portraying one of the more recent incarnations of him.

Warrior-8/10

Good story of redemption with some decent cameos.. Kurt Angle Rashad, Bonnar, Rumble Johnson, Anik, Rosenthall, the TAPOUT Hguys, etc.. Would have been better wiyhout the unrealistic suplexes and takedtowns..

Rango-8.5/10
Good story, annimation, and a Fear and Loathing refrence..

The Bourne Legacy - 4/5

Started out slow, got great, then ended. I was kinda bummed out.

If they decided to spin this into a trilogy, Jeremy Renner got a shot at making his character his own. I liked him alot in this.

Die Hard with a Vengeance 7/10

Live Free and Die Hard 7/10

Felt totally different than the first two... Especially the fourth one. Still ok, but not as great as the first two. The fourth one definitely doesn't even feel like a Die Hard movie, but if you look at it as just "a movie" and not as part of a series, than it is ok.

The Campaign- 7/10

It had some funny moments but I really didn't like the editor's cut.. I was there for a good while and know that there are funnier versions of some of those scenes that were used.. I think the directors cut will be better on DVD..

Dunno why I decided to watch this. Though I almost feel like ranking it higher because at times it was so "bad" that it was almost "good". If you know what I mean.

I enjoyed the movie and would give it a 6/10. However, There were some parts that I almost expected more from (the traffic stop scene INSTANTLY jumps to mind). But the movie was fun to me.

More enjoyable than the 1st one. Love Ahnuld's terminator one liner I'll be back in this one. He even gets to have a BIG FUCKING GUN BANGING AWAY! Minus Chuck Norris' roundhouse kicks. He's more laid back and shooting on this one.. Although the new asian chick kicks ass as much as Jet Li does. This is my first time seeing Van Damme play the bad guy. I don't recall ever in his movies playing bad. He's all kickboxing hero to me. Love the final smackdown: Rocky Vs. Bloodsport kickboxer champ!

Zero expectations on this one. It's like the Avengers action hero roster hence why they added a random hot asian chick.

7/10.

Cabin in the Woods 7/10.

Although the whole thing reminded me of 13 Ghosts remake. And the scientists chuckling at their evil works is just awkward and felt like a twisted version of the Truman Show except with lots of weird ass monsters.. Plus, the underground lab looked something like Umbrella Corp from Resident Evil would do the same thing to them.

Seeing Sigourney Weaver as the evil director bitch, I was also expecting her to transform into a Xenomorph Queen Alien. Haha.

I actually saw Cabin in the Woods recently just because Bradley Whitford is in it, surprised myself because horror films are pretty much the worst films around but it was really good. I'm not going to offer a rating because I'm a rebel of grand proportions
