This is the 2013 Van Helsing style movie of the year. It felt like Sam Raimi produced this movie cos the witches behaved and looked like the ones in Army of Darkness yelling, "I'LL SWALLOW YOUR SOOOUULL!!" It had funny moments like Hansel mentioning this sickness which is diabetic I think cos he talked about getting sick when he ate too much candy and had to take injections when he's feeling weak... Campy, blood splatting gore fun... Oh and there's a giant troll helping them and his name's Edward. Poking fun at Twilight I suppose.. Fun flick I'll say. Oh, and there's a brief nude scene and a full view of the good witch's ass in the lake.
Best part: The scene where the witch flies very fast deep in the forest while the hunter lying in wait with a shotgun reminded me of Star Wars Return of the Jedi chase sequences where Luke ambushes the trooper biker with a saber. Yeah it felt like that too.
And the director is the same guy that made the campy romp Nazi zombie flick, "DEAD SNOW."
9/10. Famke Janssen aka Jean Grey/Phoenix from X-Men makes a scary intimidating witch bitch.

The Comedy - Really good movie. Tim Heidecker plays an aging hipster (I guess) who is completely detached, and everything he says is ironic. Pretty much just covers him acting like a dickhead, his empty friendships (one friend is played by Eric) and him not dealing with his father's impending death. Funny and depressing and Tim was awesome. 8/10

Really boring. Knew going in that it was going to be more of the same, but wow they didn't even try here. The previous one addaed new ways of scaring you, but the only thing new here is product placement.
Putting cameras everywhere doesn't seem as believable as it did in the other films. The other movies do a good job of building tension, and this one really doesn't. I never once felt on edge while watching this.
Finally the plot. They don't further the overall plot of the series at all here. From a story perspective they might as well have not even bothered.

Whatever the lowest price for a ticket is any given day, plus a small soda, small popcorn. Hope to keep it under $10 but that's probably not realistic in today's day and age...might be more like $12 or something, but not gonna be one of those dicks who just sneaks in snacks and drink "because it’s cheaper at the store”. That logic has always baffled me. There’s a reason that theaters don’t permit you to do it (money) but it's also a good way to get permabanned from the theater and possibly prosecuted.

Dunno what to make of the ending: They showed a montage video of various places where the 2 girls killed guys in each specific ones from the forest, to the apartment, and the garage warehouse with no blood. Yet, in the ending, after the heroine finds out that killing her boyfriend was wrong, she kills her then at the bar, she asks the same question to the girl crying at the backdoor of the bar.. Same thing happened to the heroine at the start of the movie.. High Tension-style deja vu twist anyone?
Anywhoo it's like A Spit On your Grave duo chick flick.

Silent Hill: Revelation
2/10
Awful...I'm a fan of the games (the first 4 anyway), and despite my expectations was kinda looking forward to seeing it as I assumed it would be based on Silent Hill 3 (my favorite game in the series), but I started falling asleep during this movie.
That said, it's not based on Silent Hill 3 beyond Heather being the main protagonist.
Nothing in this movie matters; no character development, the story never evolves beyond a vague premise, its tenuous tie to the first movie is explained away with a MacGuffin that makes no sense at all, the villain has all of 5 minutes of screen time - with anything you might need to know about her being told through exposition rather than action, and the movie culminates in a laughable final fight that makes no sense within the context of the story.
It exists for no reason other than shallow fan-service, but even then it fails because it's just so lazy and clumsily executed.
The visual effects were also embarrassingly bad, and there were far too many unnecessary '3D' camera shots with stuff being pointed right at you.
Just meandering, pointless, baseless, boring garbage...but it at least met my expectations.

What?
Seriously, I wanted to punch Franco in the dick for most of the movie. Not because he was a scumbag for most of it, but because he hammed it up so much most folks wouldn't call him kosher. And it only worked at one point in the whole movie.
Finley looked shit. And my other big complaint. As Ugly as the Wicked Witch of the West is supposed to be, well. Which do you consider more hideous:

On the plus side, 90% of the CGI looked great. The Land of Oz looked incredible. China Doll was incredibly well crafted. The story was serviceable. But the characters were kind of meh for the most part, excepting China Doll and Evanoria (sp?).
Trying to think back through what I've watched and not reviewed.

This struck me as a movie with scads of potential that never gets there. The entire movie you had the feeling that right around the corner it was going to turn it into high gear and become something greater, especially taking into account the subject matter of magicians, but it never gets there. One noticeable feature is the cast; the supporting cast is spectacular but Carrell plays what seems to be every character that he's ever played besides Brick Tamland. The rest, especially Carrey, are excellent. Overall, some chuckles and a funny scene with Steve Buscemi in Cambodia, but nothing to make it a "great" comedy.

Taare Zameen Par (Like Stars on Earth) - Decent little film about a child with dyslexia, whose parents and teachers think he's simply misbehaving. It had it's touching moments, but at times it went a bit over the top with it and made it all seem a bit melodramatic. I think on average there was a character crying roughly every 5 minutes. It got pretty camp at times as well, which was good to get away from all the unnecessary teary eyed-ness, but made it seem a bit over the top. A whole bunch of the characters were pretty clichéd too. But it was still a nice story, with some good solid acting from the two lead characters as well as the childs mother. Worth a watch at least anyway. The soundtrack was pretty catchy too.

Which do you consider more hideous:
http://www.cinemista.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/margaret-hamilton-magico-de-oz.jpg
or
http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/screencrush.com/files/2013/02/wicked_witch_of_the_west_oz_the_great_and_powerful.jpg
On the plus side, 90% of the CGI looked great. The Land of Oz looked incredible. China Doll was incredibly well crafted. The story was serviceable. But the characters were kind of meh for the most part, excepting China Doll and Evanoria (sp?).
Well, trying to make Mila Kunis look hideous can't be an easy task. I'm sure they could have pulled it off somehow though. I will be seeing sometime this weekend. Stay tuned fans.

Oz the Great and Powerful-7/10
Wasn't expecting much at all, and was surprised at how entertained I was. I thought the time they took on Oz and his supporting characters was well done, but good grief was I underwhelmed by Mila Kunis. Not her fault at all, but the writing for that character was really lack luster. Wish they would have played up here impulse and naive ways and saved the heel turn for the final act, maybe even turn heel on her sister.
But alas, they breezed over her and we got what we got. Overall, it was an entertaining piece of spectacle.

Oz the Great and Powerful - 6.5/10
Agree with a lot of what Damien says. It was also unnecessarily too long. They could have cut a shit load and not affected the story. By the time I was ready to go home, there was still like half an hour left. It was still very visually stunning and Michelle Williams looked great in it.

Alex Cross
Not even sure how to rate this. 2 out of 10? What the fuck was this?
They tried way too hard to make this guy look like a psycho. Why he didn't stuff puppies with explosives and use them to blow up kindergardens is unclear to me.
Also, why was the guy playing Dr. Cox playing Dr. Cox here?
Why didn't they make Mama Cross fat and just have Perry play her?
How am I supposed to take him fighting a MMA beast serious? He looks older than he is, he's out of shape.

Dunno what's scarier, the gore or the distorted facial surgeries on this character named Beatress that she says she really wanted to look and sound like Betty Boop. O_________O. When I hear her talk and has that twisted face, she reminded me alot of Walking Dead's Clementine!!

No, I don't think they do.
And did I expect better? I dunno, I've heard good things about the books, the film is described as a Crime Thriller for some reason, plus I've never seen a single Madea movie, so I thought that maybe I could enjoy it.

This was supposed to be a remake of 1976 Who Can Kill A Child? Haven't seen the original cos I can't seem to find anywhere on torrents.. Still, I think this is how Children of the Corn from Stephen King came to be. Decent low budgie horror flick and the director is weird. He posted this movie promo video on youtube wearing a red hooded mask... Don't know if he's trolling or just one of those snuff film directors that wanna "shock and awe" the audience.. Creepy that he even lives in a unknown isolated dark forest with his tent... How ballsy is that.

movies are a money grab
that's why most movies that come out now usually are pg13 specially during summer.. parents can take some 15 year old kids to an r rated movie but not to an nc 17 rated one
that's potential money the studio will lose by making it nc17

Jurassic Park 3D- 9/10
Nothing different from the original, don't feel that 3D added all that much. One thing I noticed for the first time, however, is that the kids in the movie are really damn good for kids of their age in a blockbuster type movie with antagonists that dont physically exist. Most child actors can hurt a movie or not bring anything to the table but the kids in this movie are pretty good in their roles.

Watch this movie at your own fucking risk.. I fucking mean it. Some segments out of 26 based on the alphabets will leave you mind fucked and scarred for sleepless nights.. Believe me.... It felt like all the 26 directors that made those short films are trying to channel much like Jodorowsky or Stanley Kubrick style type of trippy gore torture sick twisted humor that you can ever imagine... Ranging from mutilated woman just to make herself look thinner from being fat, to the pedophilia and masturbation contest which the loser gets a spike up his balls for not climaxing.
This is what could've been the whole Final Destination franchise summed up in 26 short films. Think of it as a twisted adult version of Sesame Street's alphabet segments.

Jurassic Park 3D - 10/10 because it's fucking Jurassic Park.
But in all seriousness, I liked the 3D. It didn't get in the way, and it worked well for the most part. I didn't care that it was 3D, and that's not why I saw it, and overall it was done pretty well compared to 3D movies I've seen in the past, and considering this wasn't made for it and those were, I think it holds up alright with its 3D. I saw it because I never got to see it in theaters originally, but I've seen it so many times now that I just couldn't pass up the chance. Was everything I hoped it would be. It has aged very well.

Director has a lot of QT in him but its not all used right..or something like that. Jurassic Park 3d-10/10
It's Jurassic fucking Park. The movie stands the test of time. The 3d was whatever. There were times where it got in the way because you can't go back and refocus shots, so there were things in the foreground, that weren't the focal point of the shot, that were fuzzy and distracting. There really wasn't anything that called for 3d, but overall, reliving the theater experience of this movie was awesome.

Woody Harrelson was great and obviously the Bill Murray cameo was pretty funny but thought the rest of the cast were pretty average and there weren't really many moments that had me laughing a whole lot.
Mama - 5/10. Didn't find it scary at all really. The youngest girl was the scariest part of the whole film. As usual with most horror films, I think the film was better before you see the ghost fully. As soon as you see the awful cgi stuff it kinda took away any fragment of horror it had. Tend to think it's pretty difficult for anyone to make a movie about a ghost and actually show the ghost. Cast were all fine though, thought the older girl was actually really good for a child actor.

Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem - 7/10.
Think of it as a mixture orgy of: Rosemary's Baby/Disney's Hocus Pocus/Cannibal Holocaust and Stanley Kubrick-ish final act. The appearance of the Dimmu Borgir-ish demon was completely unnecessary and it almost reduced the serious horror stuff into a Cradle of Filth music video. I also liked the reference to Manson's Long Hard Road out of Hell music video in the final act of Heidi's transformation.
Is it just me or those 3 old women esp. the redhead one reminded me sooo much of the trio in Disney's Hocus Pocus? One of them even has a Bette Midler vibe minus the humor.

A western comedy, live action Coyote and RoadRunner cartoon starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ann-Margaret and Kirk Douglas with cameos by other comedians of the time such as Paul Lynde, Ruth Buzzi and Foster Brooks. It isn't the contemporary "frat pack" variety of comedy but the novelty of such a movie existing is amazing. Star Trek Into Darkness - 8/10
Enjoyed it a lot, although some shaky-camera shots did my head in a bit.

Star Trek Into Darkness 10/10.
I've heard good things about it. I see a six, which is not stellar, but not bad. Should I go out of my way to see it?
It's okay. It's not like you are going to miss something awesome. You can probably watch it when you are bored and have nothing to do. Please don't give Zach Braff any money on kickstarter. Thanks.
Iron Man 3 - 8.9/10

Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean - 8/10
James Preston does a fairly decent job of portraying Dean in this one. I found it odd that they never mentioned his roommate William Bast by name - he is just credited as "The Roommate"
I also have never heard of this Violet women that is in a large part of the film. They also refer to Rogers Brackett as just Roger.
I was glad to see a film that explored Dean's sexuality as we see him having sex with both men and women. Most films have just mostly hinted at it.
most of the scenes taking place at Brackett's home are shot beautifully.

Star Trek into Darkness....3 out of 4. Sooooo much action.....never stops for anything. That's good and bad. Some things I don't get but its entertaining. Not a Hell of lot to think about and ponder other than the lines pulled from the first "timeline" which was cool, but not a mind blower.
Why is Khan immune to Kirk's punches but not Spock's? I get it, Vulcans are strong but Khan straight no-sells it with Kirk.

Blade Runner: The Final Cut - 8/10
Pretty sure I saw the original theatrical cut years ago and didn't like it. Was too young to really appreciate it, but wow. Didn't feel like a 1982 movie at all. Has really stood the test of time, and was still culturally relevant. Pretty great, kinda creepy sometimes. Really cool feel to the whole thing, just really enjoyed it.

Wanted to uppercut the woman in the row behind me, one seat to the left of me, she had that annoying laugh that no one dreams of sitting by. The person with her laughed so hard one time and kicked my chair on accident. I also wanted to uppercut that person in the vagina.

The Game-8/10
Old Michael Douglas movie I happened to catch on Showtime. Really good, though, at times, pretty far fetched. Michael Douglas is great.
Star Trek 2-8/10
First one was amazing for me. This one falls a little short, but everyone was great. Spock/Kirk chemistry was great, great set pieces and action sequences, and KHAAAANNNNNN kicked all kinds of ass.
Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country-8/10
Randomly saw this on SyFy, and stuck with it. Really good. Loved seeing the over the hill cast get their hands dirty one more time. William Shatner is the fucking man. Well paced, well written, and well shot despite not having a whole lot of different set pieces. Never was into the old school Star Trek, but after this one, might go back and watch a few more.
