Finally got around to seing "Funny People." A solid 8/10, solid comedy and drama melding. The most amazing part is that I don't hate Seth Rogan in it, and it's probably Sandlers best movie since the Waterboy.

Jake Roberts bummed me out
It may not have made the movie any better, but you would at least get a clear resolution from a final fight, no matter the outcome.
What I find to be the particularly glaring issue with the ending is that it felt severely misplaced to me, especially when you consider how absurd the rest of the movie is.
The entire movie is about these guys surviving ridiculous circumstances - (circumstances which should have surely killed them 15 minutes into the film), all the while fighting off poorly rendered CG wolves, jumping off cliffs and surviving, making working tightropes out of shirts to cross chasms, and they cap it off with Liam Neeson taping shooters to his fists.
After all that they tack on a non-ending in an effort to induce a poignant cliffhanger, so they can try and get the audience to empathize with a character that's barely been developed.
When your movie has spent the previous 115 minutes fully embracing it's preposterous premise, it might as well commit to it through the end, rather than turn pretentious for the finale.
Like I said, it tried to take itself way more seriously than it should.
feels like you weren't even paying attention to the film

Amazing Spiderman - It was good but I found myself not really caring. I think I still prefer the first two from the last bunch of Spiderman films, although Garfield was better than Maguire and while I never really had a problem with Dunst as Mary-Jane like I know some people did, I think Stone as Gwen Stacy was done really well.
Everything to do with The Lizard was all very "meh" to me, even though The Lizard used to be one of my favourite villains of Spidermans in the cartoons.

It felt like as if Christopher Nolan wrote the screenplay in invisible mode like in Dark Knight all over again.. And apparently, Bond even had a Bruce Wayne-ish kinda dark past on his dead parents gravestone.. :( And Lord Voldemort makes an appearance as his employer or shall we say a new one I guess.. To top it off, remember that black chick zombie slayer in 28 Days later? Well, she's now his sidekick agent.. Still this is much grittier on the same level as the first Dark Knight... Better than the last 2 Bond movies.

I guess I was expecting this to "transcend" the Bond film the way Nolan's Batman films transcended the comic book genre. Villains always tend to be kinda wank in the 1st movies though, no point in wasting a good villian while you're establishing who's who, at least you can see them setting up for the sequel in the 1st film.

K so I didn't really give much reasoning when I watched it either.

Using my VUDU credit, I just watched Expendables 2.
Nothing groundbreaking, but for the cliche-ridden movie that it was (and was supposed to be), it did exactly what it was supposed to: mindlessly entertain with lots of cameos and explosions.
Very high on an arbitrary numerical system, but not the maximum number. Points deducted for lack of tits, Liam Neeson, and Steven Segal. And tits.
Yeah, I liked the new Spiderman better, too.
Can't stand Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.
Sure, Lizard sucked, but let's see the villains in the sequels.

Charlize Theron saves her by doing enough overacting for 3 people.
Snow White and The Huntsman - 66
I don't think it was "over"acting but it was just enough to get across the "power hungry vanity queen" on film. I think it was just the right amount.
But the movie had very odd pacing issues. Even weird editing. One minute we're at a campfire, next minute it's snowing.
Hemsworth did a good job. Wish Ian Mcshane had some more time. Good effects.

Cloud Atlas: THE most confusing multiple personality disorder movie of the year.. Yet my brain tries to explain everything that's happening despite sooo many random backstories ranging from the gay musical composer helping an old man, to some novel writer critic looking for his wife and stuff, to a Korean futurisitic girl who finds out that she's a waitress clone in a darker future of Korea, or Tom Hanks and Halle Berry playing dual roles whether a deranged ship crew who hates blacks, to a survivor Castaway, to a woman playing both a weird Star Trek style alien visitor and a journalist looking for conspiracies in her latest stories.. Despite all the chaos ensuing, I must say it delivers one of those vicious cycles of how decisions can really influence the world around whether it's religion and science, or pure prejudice against sexual orientations or their colored skins... Wow.. Hugo Weaving really does a hilarious job of playing multiple villains from the crossdresser old retirement nanny, some random street guy hunting journalists or playing the weird Mad Hatter demon in Tom Hank's primitive tribe.
It almost felt like these directors are screwing around ala Back to The Future and they stole the Doc's delorean time machine to mind fuck the audience with its plot twists. Still, yeah, my brain despite hardly memorizing some characters and moments that make the great film, leaving the theater was like I dunno I feel like watching it again just to get the whole thing but the brain says just enjoy for what it is.
To make my review of Cloud Atlas, shorter, think of it as a mixture of those Amores Perros, Back to The Future plus Matrix plus Inception type of formulaic movie.

Looper - I'd read a lot about the plotholes in the film, but if you take yourself out from thinking about it too much then it's a really enjoyable action film. The kid actor was a little bit annoying though and probably would've preferred a more sympathetic looking child. You only had to look at this kid once and know he would be evil. JGL was on top form again though and Bruce Willis was Bruce Willis. The scene with the guys limbs disappearing as he's on the run was pretty well done I thought, again if you ignore the obvious plotholes of the scene.

Basically how I felt about the movie. Was decent but I just didn't care about ALL those Dwarfs. I understand working with source material, but I appreciate in LotR the group being a mixture of difference races/species instead of all Dwarfs, a Dwarf without a bear aka a Hobbit and a badass Wizard who constantly is like ugh you Dwarfs annoy me bye only to come back and save them multiple times.

The Last Stand- 7.5/10--- Started slow and the tone was completely different in the first 30 minutes than the rest of the film. Last half is straight up carnage and humor, very reminiscent of Drive Angry with Nick Cage. Solid action and Arnold is great in it.
Amazing Spider-Man - 9/10 (GF Score 9/10)

The Watch-10/10
Waited until it was on BR/DVD to watch it. Completely forgot about the advertising and previews of the story. Great comedy. The British black guy stole the show. Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, and Vince Vaughn were funny to me. They just looked a little aged from the last time I watched their films.

Silver Linings Playbook - 8.5
I feel like it's the movie Garden State wanted to be. Well-acted, -written, and -shot, if a bit heavy-handed at times, but a good way to spend date night with the missus.

Not bad. Structure was a bit all over the place though, which I found a bit off putting.
