Hunger Games: Catching Fire-8/10
Liked it a lot. Felt a little long, but I watched it late, so that was likely attributing. Really enjoyed this far more than the first, mostly due to the fact that the tournament was second fiddle, and the characters were more fleshed out, as well as the political aspects of the film were dug into more. Donald Sutherland was the fucking man in this movie. I don't know he seemingly gave up as he got older in terms of what he was willing to do, but I loved his work in this film. Good stuff.
X-Men: DOFP 8.5/10
The Experiment 7.5/10
saw The Experiment a while back, one of the most unintentionally hilarious films I've ever seen, has become a bit of a ongoing joke between me and few friends
It's hilarious in how absurdly quickly things escalate.

Batman Returns - 7/10
I had a great time revisiting this movie for the first time since I was a little toddler. As a kid, I remember being sad towards the end of the movie ( When The Penguin dies and his "babies" drag him into the water ). Tim Burton took a lot of liberties and I am not sure if he has ever read the comic books. The movie has a lot of shortcomings but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Fucking weird-ass movie. High Tension by way of Inside (French movie). One thing confuses me:
If Melanie claims her son is kidnapped and she attends a support group for therapy, then why the fuck did she just pick him up on some car and claimed it was found then the husband declares her insane? Or what? Huh? ANd is the husband crazy too when he imagined Esther the former preggie turned lesbo killed their son and he tortures her in the bathroom after shooting her with a shotgun?

My only complaint about this fatalities galore that'll make Mortal Kombat look like a PG cartoon, is the badly English Dubbed version of this... And the antagonist reminded me alot of Bruce Campbell's Ash!!! he looks and talks like him in dubbed version.
Other than that, I agree with the review saying, "What if the Godfather and Departed plus Bloodsport had a child, it'd be this movie."
P.S. Hammer Girl was the highlight for me in the late 2nd half! She's totally right up there with Thurman's The Bride in Kill Bill or Go Go Yubari!
9/10.

Glee + School of Rock + Scream/Saw-ish masked killer = This movie.
Plot twist: Killer is her brother because originally at the start of the film, the mother was killed by the theater owner himself, MEAT LOAF who's a fucking scumbag money hungry asshole.
Best part was the singing of the kids while the killer screaming his own song inside his hideout telling them to stop in a metal rock theme that'd make Meat Loaf himself proud.
And yes, Meat Loaf was also the highlight of singing along with the kids in this movie. Sure, most reviews say it was total shit and doesn't deserve to be alongside classic musicals like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors or any Phantom of the Opera musicals being remade to death.
But hey, the rendition singing of the killer's theme and the mayhem gore galore behind it worked like poetry in motion. And they even pulled a Carrie in the final moments of the movie... Yes, the bloody bucket!
7/10.

RoboCop-7/10
Not a bad remake. Seemed to be more Gary Oldman's movie than the guy playing Murphy. Lacked a compelling villian. Lots of underdeveloped characters. However, enjoyed the look and style of the film. Sound design was great. Theme of Robo keeping/fighting for his humanity and becoming sentient despite his programming was a nice angel. Surprised by the critical reception. Solid sci fi action thriller.
Justice League Flashpoint-8/10
Pretty good direct to DVD animated fim, dealing with an alternate universe created by the Flash, who is the main character in this one. Thomas Wayne Batman is a complete bad ass, and the different roles the characters were cast in was a fun take.

Captain Phillips - solid film, starts really well but thought the second half was a bit "eh" and I wasn't really affected by much that went on. Thought Hanks was best at the very end when he was just shaking with shock and fear.
Veronica Decides to Die - Sarah Michelle Gellar suffers from depression so tries to take her life. Survives, but in the process causes herself to have a fatal injury which she'll die of within weeks anyway. She then begins to see the good things in life and falls in love etc etc. Okay enough commentary on depression for the first 45 minutes or so, but after she begins wanting to live it all seems a bit rushed and convenient. Rest of the cast was really bad.
Spanglish - 6/10

Dammit you beat me to it!!! I was giving the same rating like that. I just finished it now! The director is definitely gonna be the next Kubrick/Lynch on this one.
And her Alien form is a bit like I-ROBOT with a mixture of SlenderWoman!!!
This movie felt like a very serious yet watered down version of Natasha Henstridge's Species franchise. But still, I really enjoyed her fully naked scenes esp touching herself to experience what it feels to be human.

As for this one, I give it 6/10.. I thought it was going to be another one of those teen angst drama movies but they threw into a World War 3 apocalypse scenario. The only plot twist you'll see here:
She falls in love with her fucking cousin and have sex!
Insidious Chapter 2: 4/10. Why? the 1st one had definitely a closure ending to it.. Very unnecessary sequel to continue with the hauntings.

And to some, it felt like a reboot of the 1961 classic, The Innocents.
P.S. WHAT THE FUCK happened to Leelee Sobieski? (used to be my celeb crush in high school and pre college days) All I know is she's preggie with a 2nd child and hasn't done movies since then.. And she looks like an anorexic Jennifer Lawrence now. O__o.

Haven't seen the first one though but interesting stuff about sexuality and religious teachings message behind this. lars has done it again.. oh, and BONER level 9000 alert! Yet some scenes are like mini-porno videos. And when that familiar music came on in one scene with the baby looking out the window, I was like, "Is this supposed to be a sequel to the Anti-Christ?" Batman: Assault on Arkham. 10/10. kick-ass anime movie.. With bits of nudity from Killer Frost and Harley, a few curses and a middle finger, very rare for it to be adult themed despite it's a cartoon..
Some of the villains seemed new to me: King Shark, Capt. Boomerang, and Black Spider. :p

What a slam fucking dunk for Marvel. By and far the most enjoyable film of the summer to this point, for me, as well as potentially the enjoyable Marvel movie for me to date. The chemistry between the team was through the roof. Best movie I have seen this year.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods-8/10
Really enjoyable and well done DBZ movie, in English. Was awesome to see such new, crisp animation, and see Vegeta and Goku get some much screen time. Have a feeling this is going to cap off DBZ, and, if that's the case, this was an enjoyable and well done way of going about it.

I rented this sumbitch on iTunes for a whopping $ 6.99 (I know, right?) because I love the cast. Unlike a lot of reviewers (mostly hopeless romantic white females) on iTunes, I knew what I was getting in to. I had a good time.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-0/10
Well, I saw it, and honestly, it was pretty fucking awful. I cannot say that the people behind this movie got anything right.
I almost don't where to start. Guess it'll be the story itself, which was barely there. Literally, the plot was was near non existence. I do not know exactly what this movie was about. I do know the white man wanted to be rich (more rich?), and the Japanese guy wanted.....I don't recall exactly what he wanted.
Speaking of him, Shredder was completely useless in this movie. He doesn't say or do much of anything. He has zero presence, zero panache. The original did such a great job of building him up and creating this aura around him to the point where, when he finally showed, it was amazing and the highlight scene of the film. In this one, you see him twice, and then he's got his awfully megatron shredder outfit, which, even in the context of the film, is utterly ridiculous.
He also has zero connection with the turtles. None. Nothing. Why he cares about them, why he wants them dead, why he even gives two flying fucks is beyond me. I think the original idea was legitimately to have Fitchner play Shredder, and when fans had a hissy fit, the lackluster crew decided to heave a quick, meaningless rewrite into the film, thinking they would appease the fan base.
The turtles were awful, too. I was hoping to at least enjoy there banter and seeing them on screen, but they were so under fucking developed. They literally showed up, and that was it. Nothing personal about them. Nothing to make you care. Just a bunch of junk plastered all over them, stupid dialogue and boner jokes, and no chemistry between any of them. They were just there. To give the villains and April something to do, and nothing more.
Splinter was shit too. Looked liked shit. His origin was shit. And apparently, reading a picture book on ninjitsu not only makes you have a subtle Japanese accent, it causes you to dress like a ninja master and somehow know about the Shredder, a being you have never met and have zero reason as to knowing who they are or that they even exist.
This movie just doesn't have it. It's not even hilariously bad. It has no reason to exist, and the story itself is not memorable at all. The movie literally just happens. The first one had a strong underlying theme of family, and what that means to the different characters. This movie's theme was...well, I don't know, but it was fucking atrocious.
Sad thing is, it's making money despite being really, really bad, which means there's no doubt going to be a sequel, which is only going to get worse.

9/10. Very powerful nihilistic view from a shooter's perspective of how corporate world bullshit is controlling us etc.. And his method is shooting spree. Even better than the 1st Rampage. I agree with the review saying Uwe Boll looked in the mirror and made better like this one!

The Protector 2 - 0/10
What the fuck has happened to Tony Jaa and Prachya Pinkaew? It's like this was made by completely different people. The Protector is in my opinion, the best martial arts movie ever made. How did they fuck up the sequel this badly?
The biggest difference is that they are now using wires and CG. Jaa's previous movies were awesome specifically because they DIDN'T use wires or CG. The fights looked real, and felt real, because they were real. But now, everything looks ridiculous and terrible. Especially considering that this was not made by hollywood, but by thailand, so the extensive amount of CG that is here, looks about equal to the mortal kombat movies. That's not an exaggeration. It's that bad.
That would be endurable if the rest of the fighting was good, but it's really not. At all. I don't know if it's because he's older or because of lingering injuries, but Jaa just looks slower here. Some people have said it's because the people working with him weren't good enough and fast enough to keep up with him, so Jaa had to slow down just to get the fight choreography to work. I dunno. All I know is that in the first movie, you barely had time to process the badass shit jaa did, before he did something else amazing. In this movie there were literally only two instances throughout the whole film where I went "Wow that was cool." And one of them was from Jeeja Yanin.
Oh yeah, if you don't know Jeeja Yanin is an amazing female martial artist who exploded onto the kung fu movie scene almost as fast as Tony Jaa. A movie with these two in it is like a modern martial arts dream match. Too bad she spends most of her screen time here getting her ass handed to her, and needing help from big strong men to save her. This is unacceptable. Not even from a sexism standpoint (though it does seem a tad sexist) It's unacceptable because she spends all her time in her other movies BEATING THE LIVING FUCK OUT OF ENTIRE WAVES OF BIG SCARY DUDES. The Jaa/Jeeja team up should of been the best thing ever. Instead she just lies on the ground twitching for most of the movie.
What else, what else....oh yeah plot is terrible. It's terrible because they actually tried to make some complex plot. Martial arts movies don't need complex plots. Look at the first film. Bad guys steal dude's elephant. Dude beats the shit out of everybody til he gets elephant back. That's it. Done. Instead they try and make some big conspiracy plot, and it fails horribly because martial arts movie writers can't write for shit. That's why they're martial arts movie writers.
Obligatory chase scene like in all Tony Jaa movies, except this one is boring, makes no sense, and drags on waaaaaaaaaay past it's welcome.
Finally, the RZA's performance should be shown in acting classes around the world as a lesson how NOT to act. "RRRAAAAAAARRR YOU CAN TELL HOW ANGRY I AM CAUSE MY EYES ARE SO WIDE! RAWWWWRR"
end rant

The Shining meets Under The Skin. Why am I saying that? This is how it goes.
That one scene where Jack typewrites all work and no play makes jack a dull boy repetitiously. But in this one, it's the wife that's going nuts. Instead she writes her biography repetitively even the wedding day. The gore parts are minimal until the final act and the reveal of her true form much like Scarlett's alien character in Under The Skin.
Don't ever be thinking that the title itself is another one of those cheesy ass romantic flicks...

The Babadook - It's almost like a live version adaptation of Among The Sleep game and a mixture of Sinister!! But only better.. Even the monster resembled so much of the one in Among The Sleep game. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 100% rating. Not bad for a low budgie Aussie horror flick.. That was totally unexpected.
Reason why I compared it to Among The Sleep is because The mom is the real monster or was it? Even tried killing her son in the final moments. And I was expecting the dead dad to be the monster but I guess either way, I think the mom is the real monster who's being abusive to the child after the dad died in a car accident.
Go fucking see it. It's a perfect pre-Halloween scary movie! Well played, Australia!

It restored my faith in action movies being more uncensored R-rated violence. Nail guns, impaled on a powerdrill to the skull, you name it. Despite I haven't watched the entire TV series it's based on, I'm still familiar with the intro theme. And it had a bit of Taxi Driver vibe chemistry between Equalizer and a teen prostitute. Sound familiar right? Better yet, it felt like a sequel to Man on Fire.

The Equalizer - 8/10
Felt kind of "formulaic" in the sense that "revenge movies" seem to be in vogue, but Denzel was awesome in it and it was more gruesome than I expected.
Gone Girl - 8/10
It kept me guessing and made me feel strongly about the characters in different ways throughout the movie. Did kind of drag, though. There were two or three times where I thought the movie was wrapping up and became conscious of how long I'd been sitting there.
The Judge - 7/10
I hate reading other peoples' reviews of movies because I find myself adopting their opinions of it. For The Judge I read Wesley Morris' review and the jist was, "the movie is trying to do too many things", which I kind of agree with. I enjoyed it though, RDJ can make me enjoy any movie at this point.
Fury - 8/10
I was expecting it to be super gory but it really wasn't. Characters were really good, didn't seem overly ridiculous or beyond the realm of possibility... good movie
John Wick - 7/10
I found this one hard to rate. It was another "revenge" type movie. Like the storyline itself was interesting enough and all, and whatever. I loved the kind of "world" it presented, this underbelly of hitmen that gathered at this hotel. Had a very cool vibe to it. Lots of the fight scenes were good. I liked Keanu in this. There was a lot of ridiculousness but I liked the vibe of the movie overall.

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1 6.5/10
Not much action, but I still liked it; the problem is that it feels like half a movie, which it is!

Interstellar - 6/10
That's the actual 70mm reel used to project the movie in the IMAX dome. Neat stuff.
Watched it for the second time and enjoyed it even more - 8/10

22 Jump Street - 7/10 (Was slightly above my expectations)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 8/10 (As a huge Captain America fan, I really enjoyed this one alot more, Had good story telling, flowed alot better then the original with all it montages)
Thor: The Dark World - 7/10 - Was alright, Enjoyed the original more.
Nightcrawler - N/A (From what I saw it was amazing, but had to leave half-way thru because the only people in the therate at the time was My Ex-Wife and her new boyfriend...Ackward

Dumb and Dumber To-0 outta 10
I doubted this would be good. But my girl wanted to see it. Turns out it is even worse than the original. But I am sure people will say this is a classic and call me an idiot for hating the first one. Fuck um. Jim Carrey is funny in small 5 minute bursts. Over the course of a movie he becomes more annoying than when the midget at the pizza place hasn't showered in weeks and keeps sweating all over the counter.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - 8.5/10
probs the best "Hollywood" film I've seen this year, will surely gets visual/effects Oscar noms

Hercules: 1/10
Only watched % 30 of the movie before I shut it off. I give them credit for taking a different route with the story and charcters, but it was drek.

Jessabelle: Insidious meets The Serpent and the Rainbow anyone? 6/10.
Outpost 37: Sci-fi mockumentary of aliens called Heavies by the marines.. Really? They look like Mass effect's Protheans! 8/10. Had its gory-ass moments.
VHS: Viral - 2/10. Really confusing plot point of the main story of a girl trapped in a fucking cellphone video to record it on youtube then occassionally skips to another segment although I liked the skaters beating the shit out of hooded skeletor voodoo monsters and the parallel alien dimension segment..

Pretty much the same thing as Triple A said, it's like they never stopped filming. Just one long ass take.

Exodus: Gods & Kings 9/10. - Very different interpretation of the 10 Commandments from Charlton Heston's version. Moses becomes Batman on this one. :p

As Above/So Below - 3/10 - Nice Plot and decent movie, if you count only the first 13 minutes. Everything else makes me wish I could of watch Clark posting for 8 straight hours instead.

Horrible Bosses 2 - 2/10
Really bad. Felt like I was watching an Austin Powers movie in 2014. Charlie Day (who I normally like) v annoying in this. Like obnoxiously annoying. Hated it.
HOWEVER comma there was a movie trailer for "Get Hard", movie with Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart... Alison Brie looking V V V V sexy in it in the short scene she was in. Evening not a disaster.
Team America - 6/10
Skeleton Twins - 6/10
