Shutter Island 3.5/5

Despite it not being Martin Scorsese genre I thought it was rather entertaining even though I knew and I'm sure many of you knew how it would end. Was never a big fan of his but I though it was some of Dicaprio's best acting to date he even looked the part which helped immensly. There's one horrific scene towards the conclusion of the film that I felt was dragged out and didn't need to be it could have been done more implied like the other flashbacks.

very disappointing but held together enough for an average score. Basically the same score I would give Year One...another dud with enough "oomph" to not make me walk out.

Youth In Revolt is at least 8 times the film Year One is.

Also:

From Paris With Love - 6/10 - Fun enough, John Travolta is a lot of fun but gets a bit gay at the end. Would have been an improvement with a better actor than Jonathan Rhys Meyers too.

Taking of Pelham 123 (remake) - 5/10 - Meh. Only reason I gave it a 5 is because of the decent cast with decent enough performances. Pretty bad otherwise.

MacGruber - 6/10 - I thought it'd be a 'all the jokes are in the trailers' type schtick but that wasn't entirely the case. Not bad if you leave your brain at the door.

Book of Eli 4/10 Wasn't big fan of this movie. Never really hooked me in like I had hoped. Some fun parts for sure, but overall kind of a dud for me.

Toy Story 3 9/10 Really enjoyed this movie. Though I think it may be my least favorite Toy Story. I plan to rewatch all 3 and get a better idea for them all. Think 2 is my favorite as thought it was the most character based, as opposed to 1 which seemed more action oriented. Toy Story 3 certainly tapped into your emotions at the end, but seemed like it went for jokes more than characters at times. But still loved it, kept my attention entire time.

Twilight 6.5/10 For some reason decided to watch this. Check it out, see if it is really as bad/gay as people made it out to be. It managed to keep my attention during the movie. Not the best movie, but I found it entertaining. Watching the second one now. Think it got a bad rap though. People saw the trailers and decided to make fun of it. All the jokes/people who hate it never saw it most likely.

Twilight New Moon 4/10 Watched this just now, just watched Twilight 1 first time before this today. Didn't think this movie was anywhere as good as the previous one. First one I thought was average fun film, nothing special nothing terrible. This one was just too slow, never really getting much of anywhere. Was waiting for something interesting to happen throughout the movie. Was just a giant set up for 3rd movie I guess, should be action packed. Guess this is the movie where everyone picked side of Team Jacob or Edward. Jacob is a douche, find werewolves less interesting then vampires to begin with though. Hated his long haircut. Team Edward all day.

Same with some videogames. It could get bad reviews, for example TMNT, but something draws me to play it. I realize it's not a great game, but keep playing as I find it entertaining and humorous. Though did enjoy the first Twilight, second was pretty weak. Watch it for yourself and judge "dawg"

The Wolfman - 3/5

Has a few good scares in it and the whole mood and atmosphere was setup very good. Unfortunately the big twist is pratically given away in the trailers and Del Toro acting in this was rather lackluster. The tranformation sequences were great as well but the end result minus the creatures claws almost seems a bit too retro.

I thought the acting was good and there were some scenes I generally enjoyed. However, and maybe because ive been hearing about the movie for so long, I just felt like it took forever to get going, and when it finally did nothing really happened.

Its just the showing of a guy gradually going crazy, but I felt like the ultimate payoff just wasnt there. I dunno, like I said, the movie just didnt do it for me. It never drew me in.

I give this movie a 9 out of 10.

It was funny. It was family friendly. It had plenty of action. It was just all around fun.

Nic Cage plays the typical Nic Cage role, he does nothing special
The other guy is the same way. He plays the same gimp as he always does. He is like Michael Cera the 3rd...right after Jesse Eisenberg from Zombieland. Just another schlub.

That didn't take away from the film at all. Like I said it was funny, full of action and had a really good flowing plot.

Survival Of The Dead - The laterst work of George Romero. I loved the premise be it somewhat old hat at this point I just love most of what George creates and this is no different. I give it 8/10 for the originalities in the plot.

Staunton Hill - The directorial debut of George Romero's son Cameron. I liked it at first and then got bored in the middle but the killings and plot holes came to a head nicely. The end was a bit of a wash. Good first outing but far too art house like for a slasher flick. Think House of a 1,000 Corpses meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 6/10.

Finally got around to watching the two Pirates of the Caribbean sequels.

Dead Man's Chest: 8/10. Not as good as the first one, but still fun. Doesn't really have an ending due to its nature as a split film.

At World's End: 6.5/10. Felt really different than the first two, and seemed to take the story off in another direction. The whole thing could have been simplified, but they wanted to make it "epic". Which, granted, they did by the end. Also, that totally wasn't a happy ending at the end for Will and Elizabeth, but they played it off like it was. They can only see each other once every 10 years? That's kinda sad, bro. Logical thing to do would have been to have Bootstrap be the one to stab the heart and become the new captain. Was certain they were going this root, as it seemed to be the only one. I was wrong.

Dinner With Schmucks - Steve Carell & Paul Rudd

3/10

What a MISERABLE movie. You know those scenes in The Office where Michael Scott just makes you squirm in your seat in embarrassment? This ENTIRE movie was like those unbearable scenes of embarrassment.

The only tolerable ( and the only funny part) of the film was the actual dinner which circumferences maybe 20 minutes of the film.

Don't waste your time unless you like to be tortured.

Carell did not create anything new here. Instead he put in false teeth and acted like the unbearable side of his Michael Scott character.

Paul Rudd typically plays the cute, lovable loser very well (see I Love You, Man) but here he is inept, unfunny, not charming & at times interoperable to watch. I have loved every Rudd role from Wet Hot American Summer to The 40 Year Old Virgin - This is his weakest performance to date.

Beer Wars

A documentary about the beer industry. After watching this movie I will never purposefully drink another Anheuser-Busch product.

This movie exposes the bullying tactics of the "big 3" beer companies. The Buds/Coors/Millers of the world have finally been shown in a negative light. My favorite part of this doc was the time carefully spent talking to the craft brewers all around the country in their struggle and fight to stay in business. Beers featured are Yuengling, DogFish Head, Bud, Miller, Coors, and a few others.

I dunno. Maybe there's something wrong with me. I feel like this is a movie I should have really liked, as I'm a big fan of Adam McKay's and I like Will Ferrell and Marky Mark as much as the next guy, but something about this whole movie just felt off. Maybe it was how I felt they were trying to parody the buddy cop action genre, yet they never veered far enough into the true territory of parody the way a Lethal Weapon 2 used to do. Honestly, the best part of the film and the only part that made me laugh out loud featured The Rock and Samuel Jackson in their final moments.

SCOTT PILGRIM -V- THE WORLD - 8/10

Awesome. Loved everything about this movie, even the progressively less-funny Michael Cera. The Asian chick who plays Knives is fucking hot and I want to rock her body. The fight scenes are a lot of fun and there are way too many videogame and 90's kid references for me to count, and it's fun trying to find all of them. It might have ran a little on the long side, but this is understandable when they were adapting a huge, multiple part comic book story.

I'll give it an 8/10 on the condition that I only paid 4 bucks to see it.

I was disapointed with Seagal too, but DeNiro and Don Johnson were both really good and Jeff Fahey was surprisingly good too. Coulda done without the Lohan crap but whatever. I remember hearing about how they were going to do a movie based on the fake trailer and I honestly didn't think it would turn out that well, especially when all the big name talent started being attached to it, but it was good. Would have been an easy 10/10 if they could have kept the momentum going from the first 20 minutes (which is awesome) but its still really good.

I was also disapointed there was no "Agent Orange" Fake Trailer from Tarantino as was rumored.

From the turnout I saw though for 2 shows (got there a bit too early), I really don't see any chance of "Machette Kills/Machette Kills Again" happening.

http://www.bumpershine.com/wp-images/covers/not_the_messiah_cov.jpg

A musical created by Eric Idol as the 40th anniversary of Monty Python. It is simply Idol & 4 soloists featuring the BBC orchestra and a huge choir singing songs related to Life of Brian (among others). It got kinda boring and dry in parts but dry is what Monty Python (and most Brittish humor) is all about so it cannot be counted as a fault.

It was a good celebration at Royal Albert Music Hall & did justice to the Monty era. The show concludes with a rousing rendition of "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" featuring everyone in the audience participating with song, whistling and glow sticks. It gave me chills.

If you are a die hard Python fan you will appreciate this celebration. If you have not seen the movies or are not a fan of operas you will find this boring as shit.

Kick-Ass: 8.5/10

Big Fan: 7/10. A lot more of a black comedy than I anticipated. Patton Oswalt was great, nonetheless.

If I made a movie, this is what it would be like.

Pervert - 4/10

Very strange movie, but I was high so I actually found some parts funny. Looking back tho, it def. was a bit shit.

The Man From Earth - 8/10

Really enjoyed it. Only had one problem with it in that (big spoiler):

John turned out to be Christ, as that was a bit too "omfg I'm important to history"/Forrest Gump to me. But I did enjoy the explanation of Christ and religion afterward.

Other than that it was really interesting and a bit of a mindfuck. It was "my kind of movie".

The Expendables - 19/10.

Oh......My......God!!!!

Saw the Expendables again today. It gets a 22/10. This movie is like an AC/DC album, the first two songs are total beat downs that when you get to the third song you need to recover from the first two.

Rate the last movie that you saw for the first time

Penelope - 7/10
GI Joe - 6/10

GI Joe would have gotten a lower score but the last 45 minutes was pretty good action and made up for the bad acting and cheesiness.

Penelope was just fucking cute. It was like a quick read it seemed to be over as soon as it started. I like that with movies in this genre.

Star Trek (2009) - 5/5

A reboot that somehow remains canon? Brilliant.

I just watched the new Star Trek movie too.

10/10

As a stand alone movie, without much knowledge of the rest of the Star Trek universe, I thought it was pretty badass. Definitely loved that Leonard Nimoy was in it.

Toy Story 3-9/10

The story is a bit more slapstick than the previous 2, but they make up for it with a great escape-style story. And a scene at the end that's a tear jerker. I absolutely loved it.

Brooklyn's Finest 7/10

Pretty standard cop movie but with better than standard acting from Cheadle and Ethan Hawk. Coulda done better than Gere for the seasoned care-less cop with a week left character though.

Crazies 8/10

Better than I expected. Wasn't even aware it was a remake so I might need to try and find the original.

Almost Heroes - 4/5

This movie gets a bad rap. I laughed several times and the plot was fine enough. I'm a Farley mark and I wasn't expecting a serious period piece.

New York I Love You - 3/5

12 individual stories by 12 different directors with the main character seemingly being New York City. It was ok. I expected better and honestly thought some of the little "shorts" would make great full length movies. While others bored me.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World - 7/10

Dunno. The phrase "less than the sum of its parts" comes to mind. Loved most of the imagery, a lot of the dialogue was also good but it didn't "add up" to an excellent film. Maybe I was just too tired to enjoy it properly...
