Despite I never saw the 1st one but I will, this one was good. Everything is in 1st person view cam and I love how most of the segments are like Walking Dead-ish style plotline.
My fave segments in V/H/S/ 2: The Indonesian cult plus the alien abduction that seemed like a darker side version of Spielberg/J.J. Abrams Super 8 version. Go see it. The 1st part where the guy gets an eye implant, the plot reminded me alot of that Asian horror flick, THE EYE.

Watch this movie at your own fucking risk.. I fucking mean it. Some segments out of 26 based on the alphabets will leave you mind fucked and scarred for sleepless nights.. Believe me.... It felt like all the 26 directors that made those short films are trying to channel much like Jodorowsky or Stanley Kubrick style type of trippy gore torture sick twisted humor that you can ever imagine... Ranging from mutilated woman just to make herself look thinner from being fat, to the pedophilia and masturbation contest which the loser gets a spike up his balls for not climaxing.
This is what could've been the whole Final Destination franchise summed up in 26 short films. Think of it as a twisted adult version of Sesame Street's alphabet segments.

Sooo much better than the shitty ass 2007 version. I like how they even made Superman weaker aside from Kryptonite it had something to do with his body cells and senses adjusting to the earth's atmosphere and field that gave him a migraine dizziness and headache that made his super senses go haywire automatically and has trouble breathing.
The new Superman doesn't sport a curly hairlock or a nerdy look and we have a hobo 300-ish Spartan Warrior Leonidas style at the start of the movie.
As for General Zod well, we didn't get to hear him say, "KNEEEEEL BEFORE ZOD!" But Faora his hottie Krpyton sidekick bitch ALMOST stole the spotlight from him when it comes to kicking Supes ass all over the place ala Dragonball Z/Injustice Gods Among Us beat em up brawl. Unless you can get used to the usual shaky cams during those scenes. The planet Krypton looks more like a hybrid of the Matrix Machine or better yet, think of the scene in Chronicles of Riddick and Avatar-ish scenery with the flying alien dragons again. There's even a Mass Effect reference where they mentioned one of the stations in Krypton was called, "THE CITADEL!!!" I marked out on that one. And even Superman had a "codex." Still, Snyder delivered this franchise all types of ass kicking and laser blasting that will make your pulse pound faster...
Snyder, I salute you.
P.S. The only thing that's totally missing in this one is the iconic theme from John Williams himself in which the 2007 version used it. Oh well. Who knows. the new theme from Hans Zimmer may take time to grow on me. Meh.
<iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LaxqxfpSzMQ" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="420"></iframe>
After giving it a listen for awhile now, the piano intro and the rest of this theme almost felt like it belongs in a Mass Effect 3 soundtrack.. It's all too familiar with the depressing piano tones. Beautiful stuff.

Best "new" things I've seen recently have both been documentaries tho, Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic and the 30 for 30 doc "Survive and Advance" about Jim Valvano/the 1983 NC State national championship team, both of which were outstanding.

Man of Steele-5/10
Immensely disappointing. Wasn't anywhere near the film it could have been.
Story was way too rushed. They spent time marketing this as a film that would delve into Clark's emotions as an outcast and someone who, despite being an extraordinary being, was held back to being ordinary by a cautious father who was both scared of what the world would do if they knew his son's true capabilities, but was hopeful that whatever Clark was, wherever he came from, he was there to be something important.
Instead, we only get glimpses of what was an excellent yet short lived performances from Costner going over what essentially amounts to bullet points in Clark's past. These scenes are, far and away more interesting than any other in the entire film. And they are, unfortunately, glossed over as flash backs. They are also the most development Clark gets in the entire film. Adult Clark, unlike, say adult Bruce Wayne, goes through no transition character wise.
For a few scenes, with little dialogue, we see what Clark is up to, then, randomly, he stumbles onto hearing the location of some ship, which ends of being the Fortress of Solitude. He, rather flatly, is told of who he really is, where he came from, and is randomly given the suit and cape from his father's ghost, and bam, he's all of sudden flying around in costume. Literally no build up, whatsoever. It's just "Hey, I infiltrated this Kyptonian space craft the military found, found out who I was, and now I'm geared up, ready to accept my destiny".
Zod could have been a great villian, but he's squandered to not enough dialogue scenes exploring his character and is an otherwise forgettable punching bag for Superman. There's a line before the final bang zoom fight scene that Zod states, and it sums up his character beautifully. Unfortunately, prior to that line, he's not given much time to expand on his feelings and justifications.
And while still on Zod, why in God's name would he be banished to the Phantom Zone when A) everyone including the Council knew Krypton was going to blow, which would B) free Zod and his minions upon doing so. Just poor writing there.
Lois Lane wasn't bad, but again, another character who wasn't given enough time and was seemingly thrust into being in love with Superman for the sake of it. The two characters didn't share much pre disaster screen time for this to work properly.
And man, did the action drag on way to long. It was so over the top and ridiculous that, honestly, it took me out of the film. I was not interested in any of these fights, especially because Clark could legitimately hold his own with these genetically created warriors. Faora and Zod both mention they were created for this sole purpose, yet Supes, with zero formal training at all, hangs with and ultimately defeats them.
Ultimately, just a huge let down here. It felt like Zach Snyder couldn't get away from rushing into the loud madness of the action scenes, and short changed the most interesting aspect of the film. Meh.
Star Trek: Into Darkness - 8/10
Saw it in IMAX 3D and was absolutely blown away. Chris Pine owns the role of Kirk and his interactions with Spock makes the whole thing work. Incredible action sequences, a great villain and effects that were just mind blowingly awesome. I've never been a Star Trek guy, but the first JJ Abrams Star Trek got me good, and this one did it one better.

Pretty much awesome. My poker buddy told me about this movie and I seriously can't believe I'd never seen it before.
Casino - 6/10
A great movie, but there was just something about it that I didn't really take to. Maybe it was the constant soundtrack that I found a bit distracting, or I guess it was Scorcese's follow-up to Goodfellas and I felt that it was trying too hard to be like Goodfellas and failed in that respect.
The Basketball Diaries - 7/10
Really great to see DiCaprio at such a young age. The story is pretty basic and goes to some extremely dark places - the only thing that carries the movie to the end is DiCaprio's painful and powerful performance. You can really see the greatness that's within him in this early work.
A Perfect Getaway - 5/10
Meh. I liked the plot twist in the third act and I don't know if I've ever seen it done quite like that before, but the problem was that the couple who "turned face" hadn't really been established with any kind of real likeable traits prior to the double turn. Meanwhile, Steve Zahn and Jovokovich were pretty likeable up until the turn, and then are just made to look like total psychos. So you finish the movie not really giving a shit about anyone and not caring who lives or dies.

The ending almost pulled an Inception-ish/High Tension vibe to it.. I refuse to spoil it but like I said, it's been years since De Palma make movies that's completely throwback to 70s trademark cinema like the split screen scenes and has that gallows humor sexual thrill vibe to it. He has done it again.
The plotline: Mean Girl Regina graduates from college to become a businesswoman and she's still has that mean streak in her high school playing pranks on anyone esp. manipulating what she wants when it comes to project stuff from her workers and she pushes the envelope there by fucking a guy's dick then came along the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Lisbeth Salander.. Watch the hair and sparks fly for the final act..

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Really feel like they exploit Melissa McCarthy being a fat fucking slob as the main source of her comedic value, which is kind of sad. I know this isn't the first film she's done where this happens.

Evil Dead remake through piratebay. Thank goodness, I didn't pay to see this in theaters. Still unmatched from the Raimi 80s stuff.. Sure it had gore but it was a little bit CGI-ish with the splatting blood. Mia the wannabe one armed chainsaw heroine isn't fit to shine Ash's boomstick but she reminds me of Firefly's River Tam. Wish all the characters died though.
Although the cameo of Ash himself was the only saving grace of this movie... If I see a reboot sequel with Ash as the main protagonist instead of annoying teens, I might see it.

And no, it's not even a fucking ghost story.. Think of it as well, Misery/The Hand that Rocks the Cradle with a little bit of psychosis from Carrie's mother... Minus the religious bible in hand.. Superman Returns-7/10
I hadn't seen this since the day it hit theaters, and I initially hated it and found it boring. DVR'd on FX, and have to admit, much better than I remember, and, IMO, better than the recent Superman offering.
Loved Brandon Routhe as Superman. Has the charm, the looks, and he's very likeable. The whole son angle was a real drag, and completely unneeded, and it would have probably been more interesting if Metropolis rejected Superman when he first comes back, as a response to Lois Lane's article, just to give the "save the day" ending, and the people of Metropolis trying to save him, a bit more umph.
But overall, even though it feels like an extension of the first two films, rather than a strong sequel bringing something new, it's still good fun.
I loved Dredd
forgot if I mentioned it in here

Saw this movie as a kid but didn't "get it" or remember it and then it came on some random channel last night. At only 85 minutes it is a fast paced, Airplane-styled sendup of the Godfather Parts I & II. Bronson - 10/10 - WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!!
I saw it a while back, and I may have done a thing on it here... probably not. Dunno.
But if you haven't seen this, or even heard of it, then do yourself a favor and watch one of the greatest performances by an actor in the past decade. Tom Hardy (yes, THAT Tom Hardy) gave perhaps the best performance of his life in this movie. I seriously don't think he will ever be able to top this.
The movie itself is fantastic - a movie about Britain's most violent prisoner, Charlie Bronson. But the way Tom Hardy personifies him, and the way we're given little slices of insight into his character and mind, are brilliant.
It's very much in the veins of Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange", but it stands apart in its own magnificently twisted way.

Un Chant d'amour - Pretty good gay film from 1950. Two gay guys are in different jail cells and they (SPOILER) share cigarette smoke through a small hole and then beat their dicks. There is also a sexually repressed prison guard. Maybe the only movie I've seen made before 1960 that featured real live cocks.

Sex and the Single Girl(1964)- 5.7/10
Based on the book of the same name by Helen Gurly Brown, this comedy has an all-star cast with Natalie Wood, Henry Fonda, Lauren Bacall, and Tony Curtis. Its mostly a parody of the cultural attitudes at this point in time, 50 years ago and hits the mark in a lot of places. However, while it has its moments it also misses its mark in a bunch of places and the final "chase" scene is long and it drags on. Fun movie, and I like the style from this time period, but nothing to go out of your way and see.

El Condor(1970): 8/10
Saw the title and the stars (Jim Brown, Lee Van Cleef) on the guide and just knew I had to check it out. A western set in the newly independent Mexico, Brown and Van Cleef get together with a bunch of Apaches' to raid a Mexican Fort that houses millions of dollars in solid good. This movie is a forgotten classic and I was shocked to see it rated with a single star. I loved it. Very "pulp" for the time with nudity and the violence seems like it would have been an early Tarantino film.

Or as this moron at my work called it, "Hashtag You're Next - that's how they've been advertising it, so I figured it was called that". This is the same guy who told me that Jason Bateman used to be on Hogan's Heroes.
Anyway, I give the film a 2/5. It starts off alright, with a slow - but sometimes painful to watch - build, and then completely falls apart. Predictability abounds - as does the switching of gears of the movie's very own design and pace it builds to. I would not waste my time with this.
