*SPOILERS AND NERD BOY RANT INCOMING*

Jesus Christ, I'm sick of this 'let's change the characters to fit our story instead of changing our story to fit our characters' mentality the X-Men films have had to suffer through. Why is Illyana a (racist???) bitch? Why is Dr. Reyes a villain? Why make Sinister your big reveal when he hasn't been a factor in other films in addition to not full out revealing him here? Why do a shit job of explaining the powers of some of the characters? Why do Rahne and Danielle have to be a couple? Sure, there are some things that work here. Making it horror themed is cool. Making it isolated with a smaller cast is fine. Maisie Williams is like the perfect casting for Rahne. But this seriously needed two or three more rewrites to make it all come together into something interesting. They seriously put THIS off for two fucking years?

Now, I should go back and watch Saved from 15 or so years ago but I remember thinking that it wanted to say something but was too afraid to actually say it.

This one does. Very unassuming but probably will resonate alot with those who grew up in a religious household while questioning some of the people who seemed holier than thought.

Solid cast performances all around. Never seemed to hit you over the head with its themes and was just a nice and simple story. Nothing groundbreaking but thats not the kind of movie this is trying to be.

this might be the worst sequel of all time. just because a film is set in the 80s you dont have to make it feel like its a shit tier 80s super hero film. script, pacing, action pieces, score. all of it is a shout out to the kinds of movies we all gladly left behind. and its deliberate but that doesnt make it good. the very concept of this film is a bad idea fully realised as the bad idea they intended it to be.

It's not as good as the first and it's complete shift in tone in comparison. Though that wasn't a bad thing for me. It's funny, and cheesy, and corny. I liked the set pieces. The mall scene felt very Reeves Superman to me. And the film itself is centered around Diana still believing in humanity and people being inherently good. I have no idea if they'll do a sequel or even need one.

A side note, Cheetah looked A LOT better in the finished product than the trailers.

I did not like the first hour of the film, it's so tonally different/cheesy than the first film. I did like the rest of the movie however. The score was good, again. Pedro Pascal was a bit over the top for me. I thought Kristen Wiig's Cheetah was more interesting than Maxwell Lord.

If/when we get a 3rd one, I think we'll see warrior Diana that's more in tune with what we saw in BVS and what we're prob gonna see in the Snyder cut Justice League. Which is fine. We saw her character grow and learn a lesson in this movie and it ties up her story with Steve nicely.

It's because she is admittedly being selfish as that's all she ever wanted.

I did a rewatch with my daughter. The 3rd act really implodes the rest of the movie. It got too big for itself. There was a lot going on that gets glossed over and neither villain faced any consequences for their actions. I hope Jenkins tightens things up in the next one.

Rocky V is still a good action film. I mean Rocky the franchise starts off with pure storyline brilliance and quickly evolves into a formula for action that got ripped off so much it created a whole "underdog" genre.
Then you end up with The Karate Kid which is essentially the magnum opus of montage movies. Same director too.

Amadeus: The Director's Cut 8/10

A drama revolving around Salieri's rivalry with Mozart at the court of Vienna. F. Murray Abraham is great as Salieri (he won an Oscar for his performance), and the chap who plays Mozart comes off well at depicting the composer as a debauched child-like rogue. It's a bum-numbing 3 hours long, but it doesn't drag. You don't need to be a fan of classical music to enjoy the story; you may even come to appreciate Mozart's work.

Rocky is a cancer survivor who finally made amends with his only son and got to meet his grandchild. All while helping a troubled young man create his own legacy whilst taking himself out of the shadow of the father he never knew.

At this point, the next step for Rocky is to finally join Adrian again.

Rocky V 7.2/10

80s cheddar is replaced with early 90s cheddar, with still the obligatory montage section. I think I preferred it to Rocky IV, with a slight return to the character-driven story, but the whole riches to rags setting was so contrived that it kind of undermines the film as a whole.

Rocky Balboa 7.5/10

It pretty much returns to the original formula of the first two films, with some added nostalgia to rope in the audience. Rocky's opponent in the ring was a throw-away character, but as Rocky was ultimately fighting against himself, it does not really matter. With it not being weighed down by 80s or early 90s cheese, it is the strongest entry since Rocky and Rocky II.

Now on to Creed.

Creed II 7.8/10

It maintains the high standard of the first Creed film; if it has one weakness, I'd say the fight scenes aren't as visceral as in the first one, but that is a minor gripe. I wonder where they will take the third film, especially now that Rocky pretty much passed the baton on at the end of this one, and I think Sly has openly said that he won't play Rocky again.

I might have to watch all the Rambo films now; I've only ever seen First Blood Pt.1 in its entirety. We'll see.

2006 was a truly horrendous time for comedy. Actually it rules. But jesus crist. This movie was like an hour too long. Also the guy coulda just used "rewind" to undo all the bad stuff.

Also I watched this on Hulu and they tried their absolute damndest to make sure I didn't watch the credits, which were playing that song "You Get What You Give" which that band is gonna play at the Biden inauguration. All this weird stuff keeps popping up in movies that seem strangely relevant, like in Knives Out they kept mentioning Danica McKellar and I'd been trying to think of who the actress who played Winnie Cooper in The Wonder Years was since I watched That's My Boy (another Adam Sandler movie) a few days ago when one of the actresses in it looked like Winnie Cooper, who is played by Danica McKellar. So anyway I wanted to hear da song

Anyway why the f*ck don't they want you to watch the credits... it gave me like a 2 second warning before it switched to some episode of Scrubs that I paused like a week ago... why are they in such a hurry to get me to watch another thing. I had to hit the back button to go back to the credits and then it took me to Big Daddy within 10 seconds twice... was really hard to figure out how to just watch the credits. Netflix and others do this too, why do they hate credits, sometimes people just want to watch the credits

Mostly been watching Hong Kong Kung Fu movies lately. Lots of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, sometimes together.
I love Benny Urquidez Vs Jackie Chan in Wheels On Meals. Anybody who likes action, comedy and adventure should watch a lot more Chinese Jackie Chan films.
His earlier ones tend to be dubbed with English accents but it adds to the charm in a way. Kung Fu movies of various eras are very distinctive in their own way.
Early on it was all like a beautiful ballet but the fighting was softer. Then it jumps to violent but still not convincing because it's too OTT. By the time Jackie Chan had turned to comedy Kung Fu the fights are hard hitting, faster, better choreographed and yet funny too.
Then in the 80's all bets were off and American Karate guys kept showing up looking fucking huge at 170lbs against tiny Chinese heroes.

Seanny One Ball

I think only two of them are from the 80's, he's knocked out at least two reboots in the last few years too.
I have only seen the first four but the first two are probably his best films. A good mixture of martial arts, stunts and the comedy is turned way down with a proper storyline in place.

His Kung Fu comedies are all solid fare but he's an invaluable addition to a well told story that just needs a bit of unabashed physical insanity in it.

Hell House LLC- 7/10- One of the better " found footage " type movies. It's done like a documentary investigation. It's about an opening night for a haunted house gone wrong and the police have sealed all documents having to do with what happened. The only thing people have to go on is a Youtube video that was posted that just showed that something went wrong in the basement. And documentary investigation begins there. The haunted house builders documented building the haunted house and they find that footage and by the end you see what happened on opening night.

Sister Act & Sister Act 2: Back in Business

Saw these for the first time as a 30 year old male, was pleasantly surprised to see the general plot and premise get yadda yadda'd. Females my age seem to have a lot of nostalgia. I like that all the men in these movies are bumbling idiots 2/5

Blood Diamond - 1 bag of popcorn really really bad. Watched this in World Affairs in high school but never got to see the last third, I guess I thought it would be good but this is a really really bad movie. Leo and Jen.Con do not sizzle at all, at it's best it's just stealing from better movies like hotel rwanda or city of god. How would it even be a disaster bro?
Ant Man replaces Ironman, John Snow replaces Captain America, Alan Tudyk can be somebody too and round it out with Nathan Fillion and any attractive woman.

There you have it, the new Avengers.

Alan Tudyk's character would have the torso of a man and the lovely legs of a woman and possibly the vagina too, but you'd never really know with a PG13 movie.
They could have him constantly putting big cucumbers in his purse though, just to give you an inkling.
Nathan Fillion would have a camel's hump and big purple tits and the woman would probably be invisible or something.
They'd all spend all of their time saving her because she was so lame.

Spirited Away - 10/10

It turned out to be extraordinary. Very emotional and stress inducing at times.

Just started "Willy's Wonderland".
Nicholas Cage fighting Chuck E Cheese rip-offs.

Looks like one of his better B movie efforts actually.
More Mandy than Jiu Jitsu anyway

Willy's Wonderland is trucking along very nicely building the film up when suddenly it just jumps right into Nicholas Cage fighting puppets.

I will treasure these next 60 minutes.

Lots of Rocky-esque montages...

Just not about fighting.

I feel confident in saying that this is a fucking great film dressed up as cult-bait.
It sounds like a B movie but it looks like a really well made independent...

It's hilarious though, like really laugh out loud funny in parts.

I'll have to write a review of this.

This is one of the most strangely irreverent films I have ever seen. A celebration of good wit in odd circumstances.

Nicholas Cage doing purely physical acting for this role. He hasn't said a word.

There have been at least six "Hahaha...wtf" moments for me. All from Cage.
He's just amazing in these situations with the right material.

I've been watching this for about two hours, it's an 88 minute film but I keep rewinding it.

I watch some brilliant films every week. Great films with huge reputations, a lifetime will never be enough for me to see everything I really want to. I often just can't face it if I have the time because I know there's a better place in time to watch something.

Today I just clicked the first Nick Cage film I saw and here we are.

This is a 4/4 film so far to be honest.

I think I figured out why he's silent and weird.
Only time will tell though...

Pretty sure this one ends up in my top movies list.
It is magnificent.

I doubt 1,000 directors with unlimited funding could make that film better for me in any way, shape or form.

That is a work of brilliance.
I bet film schools use it in future to show how focus and funding can actually turn out a great product in the right hands.

It has gotten a lot of mediocre reviews.
I disagree.

Jiu Jitsu - 1.5/4

Cheerfully awful. It would only be 1/4 if Nicolas Cage wasn't in it for 20/30 minutes.
He was the only person besides Frank Grillo that had any reason being in front of a camera.

It's basically Predator versus martial artists only Predator is a big gay pussy who cheats constantly and is the most butterface baddie ever made.
Great all the way up to the neck, then just nonsense faces. It's like a kid drew it.

watching the shit out of Marvel movies since the blizzard. no reviews, just liking the ride. I was mostly just a fan of the early FOX/Sony movies. Iron Man 1 and 2 were good...didn't like the first Avengers movie so I peaced out until GOTG/2.

Just re-watched my favorite movie, The Brown Bunny. Most people don't know that owenbrown was used as the stunt cock for a certain scene.

10/10

El Vaquero de Infierno

Wonder Woman 1984 7/10

I quite liked a slower-paced, mellower comic book film; especially after Aquaman, whose finale was a brutal assault on the senses.

The Wonder Woman films have been the best of the DC Universe films, but they still trail Marvel by a wide margin.

Coming to America-7/10

Ran a little long. There were some scenes that drug things out that didn't accomplish much. But the zingers hit and Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall are dynamite together. The whole case is really great, actually.

Hoping the sequel is good

I Care a Lot.

Good but not great plus a dumb ending.

6/6.5 i guess.

Interesting rating scale. A 6 out of 6.5 is a 92%. I'd call that "great."

Really good! Very silly and very funny. Great cast. Want Bill Hader to get all the awards ever.
