I just want a good, fun wrestling game and I'm pretty sure most of the people here interested in the game are the same way.

I have hated wrestling games for the past 20 years or so. Mainly because the controls became too needlessly complicated, especially for a non-video game nerd. I think rejecting that style is the main selling point behind the “No Mercy” comparison so I kinda wanna at least give it a shot.

This has turned into another classic AEW argument. The game being good is not even the issue. It's another thing like the TV rights deal, where people who are Pro AEW are greatly overestimating how profitable the game will be. AEW's entire existence has been "oh they are about to be making SOOOOOO much money, LFG!!!" and any other outcome is just stupid people who do not understand anything.

No Mercy sold over 1 million copies at a time 10 million people were watching wrestling weekly. Yes there had to be some crossover of people who bought that didnt watch wrestling, but in the overall scenario probably not a statistical significance.

What is honestly a good projection for sales? I am fairly confident it wont be this giant windfall of profits AEW likes to pretend it will be, but really what is the likely number willing to buy the game?no mercy sold 1 million at a time when games didnt sell 1 million copies. The list of games not published by nintendo that outsold wwe games is basically just the star wars games and tony hawk.

Dont misunderstand me this games profits are questionable at best. Namely because we dont know how much money was put into it. We cant even remotely assess what it needs to move. AEW is nowhere near where it needs to be to finance something like this let alone profit from it. Green lighting it was bold to say the least and arrogant to say more.

None of the effects that this game is being put together by the most talented team that exists. No one thinks modern wwe games are good. The guys making this are behind that last time people thought it was. Knock the concept not the product.

Lol, that’s not what I’m saying at all. AEW being bad can be its own thing poking the dog shit with a stick over there. The development of this game has been a mess. Some of it does have to do with giving Kenny Omega, a dude with no experience developing, a position of power. The developers that haven’t been run off have basically apologized in advance for the game’s limits and missing functions. “Severely over budget” was a phrase used. That’s not just expensive, that’s over budget.

I definitely don’t take myself too seriously lol. If it comes off as I do? Well, I’m not in control of that, but I think there are plenty of people here who have enjoyed an “impish, light-hearted” joke with me. And I’ve admitted I am wrong a bunch of times. I honestly do think this is a bit of a projection people do to make it easier to disagree with things they don’t want to disagree with.

Bought the WWE2K22 game for $20 - figured if it is shit $20 isn't too bad.


It's a HUGE improvement from years past, with some lingering bugs around movement//positioning.


Noticed they also adjusted their controls.

More or less how it was in the N64 days. AEW's game having a similar control scheme will be great. Familiarity, ease of use and simplifying the controls are good choices.


Game is smoother than ever, and I have (so far) found myself actually having to play well against the AI to win matches. Feels more like a "real back and forth" match.

They have an audience of about 800k. Maybr 10% of them ordered the PPV where that happened. A lot of people aren’t going to get the unfunny reference anyway. To a lot of people, it would have looked like The Elite was trying to lose…on purpose? But why?

Don’t watch Rampage much but had it on as background noise while I was cleaning up. 10/Preston Vance turned on the Dark Order. Hit all of Silver/Reynolds/Uno with the Brodie Lariat. Flipped off the crowd. Put Reynolds through a table. Tore off Uno’s mask. Then walked up the ramp, took of his own mask and threw it in Brodie Jr’s face. Celebrated like a huge dickhead while Brodie Jr cried.

Sometimes I listen to Dave Meltzer clips like I enjoy popping a pimple. Meltzer and Alvarez were going after the MJF/Regal segment hard.

Young guys who don’t improve because they aren’t prepared to listen to older guys. It’s literally how wrestling is passed on. It was always about respect for veterans and what they could teach you about working a crowd and making every movement mean something.

These guys will have the same match forever, because for some reason, they already seem to think they know it all. Really sub-par selling, reactions and psychology in their matches. If the rumors are true and someone as skilled at that side of the business as Regal has also found them immature, they have a serious problem.

In all fairness to what you're meaning is, Mox was at least trying to sell the kayfabe eye injury. He wasn't half-blind in the US and miraculously healed in Japan just to be "injured" again on AEW TV a week later.

Even for those who just don't like Punk... if you remove him from the equation, he is just one plot point in a long string of data that points to that same conclusion.

Plenty of people in the indies think they have nothing to learn, and that's unfortunate. Even if you are a competent hand and a good worker for the indy audience, you lose nothing by at least listening to a guy like Regal.

But Regal and Danielson are guys with legit respect and insights. Surely, even upper card talent have something to learn from them. I maintain that the "next big thing" (in quotes because wrestling will never be hot again) is a rassling fed that has a max 1 hour per week of show.... and that show will feature 0 wrestling on it, but just promos and segments to build up to their max 4 actual rassling shows a year.

One issue with Dalton Castle is most of the same audience who watch AEW are people who were exposed to his gimmick years and years ago. I didn’t watch ROH during his run but just from seeking out clips, I’ve had my fill.

Guy’s a great performer though. They can definitely do something with him. I remember him having a campy gimmick where he was a sailor or something. Try that out.

This is 100% correct, wrestling in general has been shit at this for a long time now. Too scared to leap for some weird reason, possibly because it disrupts "the plan" somewhat.

Hook and Wardlow are the two really big misses to me and in different ways.

lol, Fightful confirmed that Miro has been healthy for months and the fact that he hasn't been seen in months really does just come down to creative having nothing for him. Miro is said to be wanting to be on TV, and is just be waiting to be given something to do.

Problem is, there is no creative. It's just one guy who happens to be a scatterbrain with a massive roster. There's enough out there now where it's clear Khan mostly relies on talent to tell him what they want to do and make pitches. So this is just another glaring example that the creative process there sucks and they need an actual creative department to try to help with some of this shit.

Should Miro be more proactive in making pitches besides just saying "put me on TV?" Given the way they're structured, yeah, probably. But that doesn't take away from the fact that the process itself is shit. It shouldn't take an Einstein to figure out how to use goddamn Miro. You could have him do practically anything.

I had hope that Tony would at least push the right guys as the 90s WCW/Goldberg mark that he is but that doesn’t seem to be happening now as much as it was. Miro should be a main attraction. That being said, just keeping him off TV if you’re not prepared to push him correctly is at least preferable to putting him on TV just to do it and having him job to 160 lb gymnasts.

Miro should’ve had a World title program already. Truth be told he should’ve never lost the TNT title. The only one who I’d argue should have been considered was Kingston, but even then. They should’ve fed Sammy, Cody and Scorpio Sky to Miro. And then built to a huge match against Wardlow for TNT title at double or nothing. Make it a big deal and give Wardlow a big win fresh off beating MJF.

Then Miro could’ve taken a short sabbatical to rest and came back to give Moxley a fresh match. Cue Malakai Black and the house coming back to cost him the title, thus quasi turning him again and finishing the Miro Malakai feud in a singles match.

It really shuld not be that hard to find a spot for Miro. You could have him crushing cans on YouTube, then parading him out on Dynamite defeating some of the lower tier guys and using him to elevate a lower tier guy to mid-card level or using him to firmly establish a Jungle Boy or Yuta up the ladder and a credible threat.

You could have him in the Kane position, he can challenge for the World title and it feel credible... literally like someone said before me...

YOU CAN HAVE HIM ANYWHERE on the card... tag, opening, middle match, squash match, main event, Dark, You Tube, and it will be meaningful.

The only knock is he does not wrestle the AEW preferred style of high spots with flashy moves that ultimately mean nothing because they don;t get a 3 count.

When he first arrived on the scene he got himself over and also highlighted that the only way to defeat him was for his opponents to target his injured neck. So everytime the guys he fought for the TNT title used moves to target his neck... IT MEANT something because that was his vulnerability.

I think Tony teased something coming in early 2023 but at this point I’d consider doing something on YouTube just to start setting out defined lines. They’re using the TV to serve too many elements of the product, it’s confusing and clunky.

It's kind wild to think that tomorrow marks one year since Hook's first match where everyone was blown away. He's wrestled only 15 more times since his debut, and nearly all of them have been the same. It was fun for a little while but now it just feels more obvious they think he's too green to do more than he has.

Hopefully he's putting in work behind the scenes, because wrestling in highly choreographed squash matches once a month can only help you so much.
