At night, I have been watching old Saturday Night Main Events. I have came to the conclusion that the best crop of wrestlers and the best era in wrestling was the Hogan Era. Not huge on Hogan but the storyteling, the crowds, the characters....It all fits. 88-92 were my favorite years, on the whole.

Video #2 in my new video series comes to you from In Your House: Beware of Dog. Marc Mero vs HHH for the IC championship. I watched this match because I don't remember A single match Mero was in or if he was good. Turns out he is pretty good. Average sized and can pull off some high flying cruiser weight style maneuvers. However 12 of the 16 minutes of this match is HHH focusing on the arm of Mero. At one point he used the same arm bar that Del Rio uses today. The match wasn't booked well, in my opinion. Focusing more on Sable and ground attacks than allowing the Wildman to show off his skills. Mero does have awesome facials and can sell really well, it almost makes up for the fact that he is such a tool these days. 5/10.

The 3rd match in my new video series brought to you from the WWEs only submission only pay per view, Breaking Point. Champion CM Punk vs Undertaker in a submission match for the WHC. The action was good but it reeked from the very beginning of screw job because there is no way the WWE would allow Taker to tap. Punk, as always, sold this match like a champ. I find it annoying that they used a great concept on a ppv world title match only to further a lame storyline. However, it did lead to the amazingly cheesy "buckle up Teddy" vignette. This match is as forgettable and as throw away as it sounds. 4/10.

The 5th match of the day comes to you from In Your House: Final Four. Vader vs Bret Hart vs Steve Austin vs Undertaker for the WWF title. This match came about when during the Royal Rumble, an eliminated Austin rejoined the match unbeknownst to the referees to eliminate the 3 other men. I'm shocked that this match isn't brought up here at TPWW. Fatal Four Way matches are always a mixed bag, very few live up to the hype. In this instance, it overdid all expectations. While I found that Vader can't sell for shit I still enjoyed this match like it was a Wrestlemania main event. Constant action, blood, elimination style combat where there were no rules. Ill put this match on the short list of FFW matches worth watching. 9/10.

Next up, Hogan vs HHH from Backlash 2002. I'm not a Hogan mark. Maybe in the 80s to the mid 90s but definitely not since. HHH was on half speed and auto pilot this whole match. Hogan wrestled a typical Hogan match minus one mark out moment when he delivered a Diamond Cutter of all things. The run ins confused me because I don't know the backstory but they were easily the only thing giving this match any emotion. 3/10.

I remember seeing that match and just facepalming so hard when Hogan actually won the fucking title. I mean, here’s Triple H, who had just come back January 7th of 2002, won the Royal Rumble and he wins the Undisputed Championship from Y2J @ WM x8 March 17, and loses it barely a month later @ Backlash on April 21?!

Was wondering how they could be legitimately trying to build Trips as this monster bad guy when you have him go through all that to win the title, only to turn around one month later and be like, “Well, Trips, you’re gonna love this...tonight we’re gonna have you drop the title to Hogan who until February hadn’t even been seen for close to 9 years...” Would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall for that meeting. :roll:

I started watching some CZW shows from 2010 since they feature Dean Ambrose as their world champion at the time. Never been a fan of CZW style but goddamn, he pulled a great match out of that bank robber Nick fucking Gage at the show "Walking on Pins and Needles." If that is the official poster, which it probably is, then two things can come from that....

1. The Rock, Punk and Cena will be three of the six entrants in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match and Ryback, Sheamus and Big Show will be the three of six entrants in theirs.

2. More far-fetched one here, but all the guys on the poster will be involved in one big WWE/WHC Title unification Elimination Chamber match. :shifty:

Saw the poster on another site and read 2 really good theories of what it means for the Rumble:

1) Orton would win considering he was supposed to last year before the injury and the rumors of Orton/Sheamus possibly replacing Ziggler/Sheamus for Mania. Ziggler won't cash in until after Mania.

2) Cena doesn't win which everyone seems to believe he's going to win just so that Rock-Cena II is guaranteed. If he does then the WWE probably will just repeat having Cena using his spot for the Chamber and not Mania.

Although the poster could be a fake considering the copyright line says 2012.

John Cena will be replacing Fred Flintstone on 4 million Fruity Pebbles boxes for a limited-edition promotion.

I've been seeing a lot of "Anti-AJ" images since her heel turn.

Why is it that all of a sudden people are saying how shit AJ is but before, they were all singing her praises, saying how hot/great she is and pretty much whipping their dicks out and having a cheeky wank as soon as she appeared on TV every week?

What happened?

Think it might be that they think Ziggler is ready to be out there on his own without a manager/chick. Some stupid theory that he's never done anything "on his own".

As for this specific promo she did kinda kill it. Did you even watch it?

Damn. I remember how optimistic things felt when that took place.

After a great 2011, if I recall this was after TLC, which was overall a fantastic PPV and a great finish to the year, and with all these "new" champions, it seemed like WWE were really ready to push young talent and begin anew.

Fast forward a year... besides Ryback, how many breakout stars were there this year, that really made an impact?

While true that SES was wasted with the break, Nexus was a lot better role for Punk and had it not been something he was just trying to get through until his contract was up it would have potential to be a current and larger deal. But being the Best in the World is far better.
