The reason I haven't been online like at all is because I got a girlfriend. I have been quite busy these last 2 weeks.

Tonight is the first wrestling I will be watching in 2 weeks...and its over 2 decades old LOL.

Anyways, I am hoping I have some down time this weekend to catch up on WWE/TNA from the last 2 weeks.

ps. I miss the chats.

I was watching tonight's SmackDown and I have a question.

Is it just me, or does the "Dead Man Walking" sign look like a crudely drawn penis? :|

Bragging Rights is scheduled for Oct 24 and with the convenient Nexus "N" in there, we are more or less assured of the Nexus angle lasting till Survivor Series, the next PPV, on Nov 21. Also note there are 6 men on Raw and Smackdown in the poster and there are 6 remaining Nexus guys.

Hm, true....

Though maybe they'll be doing an Irish vs Scot angle.

Cool King
08-29-2010, 10:27 PM
I have a small feeling that the only reason McIntyre is in the SmackDown team is because Sheamus is on the Raw team and that gives the writing team the reason to have a Scotsman vs Irishman moment during the match (As Scotland & Ireland are seen as being "so much alike") and to match them up on the poster like they have done there.

Also, the SmackDown team doesn't make much sense if you're going by storylines up until now.

Undertaker and Kane hate each other, Kane isn't on good terms with Rey after accusing him constantly and Drew and Kofi have a "History" after their feud just over three months ago. The only neutral guy on the team is Big Show as none of the other guys have had anything to do with him in about two years.

The Raw team isn't so bad as they've all gotten together before to go against The Nexus.

But that's only if you're going by the storylines.

I had to state that twice before anyone thought I was bitching. I'm merely pointing stuff out. :)

From PWInsider:

5) Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, and Daniel Bryan defeated Nexus when Gabriel tapped to the Walls of Jericho. Jericho worked as a total face & the crowd ate it up. He said that Y2J was back. I also wonder if Orton is hurt, since he hardly was involved in the match. He only tagged in once early. After the match, Jericho & Bryan got jumped - Orton came back in to make the save - using clothesline to dispose of Barrett & Gabriel. The crowd was going nuts waiting for an RKO on Tarver, but Randy took a step back & delivered a punt to Tarver's head. They combined snippets of Orton's and Jericho's music when they left.

---

That was from a house show tonight. Find it really interesting that they did what I can only assume was a custom mashup for the show. I wonder if Johnston has been messing with random mashups, or if a Jericho/Orton tag team is on the horizon.

Restarting this thread since it technically won that poll, and I think there should be one of these anyway.

Please do not use this as a blatant spam thread for just posting random numbers 15 times in a row to "bring up your post count."

Plz do not post any pornographic imagery directly on the page. If you must, use the [nsfw] tag.

Use this thread to post anything that you think is not necessarily worthy of its own thread, but you would still like to share it with the TPWW Community.

Was going to put "150,000 Replies" in quotes because it's not really that, but seemed too annoying/sarcastic in the thread title. UPDATE: re-added quotes

I hope this will "rejuvenate" things a lil maybe. :y::y:

Watching Raw last night for the first time in 3 months, I quickly realized that I hadn't missed much.

The Nexus angle is cool but the WCW factions had more spunk and rebelliousness, maybe it was due to their music and props like spray paint...

When I saw CM Punk shooting on Rock & Austin, I was about to shit my pants if both of them came down to whoop his ass.

The realization then hit me that they wouldn't waste both Austin & Rocks returns on one RAW.

So it tickles me to wonder, who would you want to see back to save us from the boring CENA hero crap.

Blackman Wiki:
Stampede Wrestling and South Africa (1986-1989)
Steve Blackman began as a competitive bodybuilder and weightlifter before entering professional wrestling in 1986 in Connecticut, training at Tony Altamore's wrestling school. In Calgary, he worked for Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling. He competed briefly as a jobber in 1988 [1] and was being considered for a full-time contract with the WWF when he contracted malaria and dysentery while wrestling in South Africa in 1989 and "was on his death bed for two years".[2]

I'd love to say the Rock but at this point it's been so long and the fan base has gone so young that the majority of the kids may not even be aware that the "Tooth Fairy" was actually a wrestler.

I think he would get better reactions than what Bret got when he first came back, but I'm not too sure how instantly over the Rock would be of he were to come back. Especially if he had to tone it down.

Austin would be interesting, seeing as WWE has made it a point to keep him quasi relevant since his departure from the company. People still care about him and he's constantly referenced, whereas the Rock is hardly mentioned at all.

What's the deal with their whole "I'm the Devil's favorite demon" kick. Undertaker went on this rambling rant about building the Devil's house with nothing but bricks and his bear hands and Satan calling him sir when he rang the door bell or something like that...The taker/Kane storyline this time doesn't make one bit of sense. The promos they've done to try and explain this has just made it worse.

Mr. Nerfect

I do agree that Brock Lesnar is the only legitimate guy who could come in and pop ratings huge. I think he's take with him a pretty large fanbase, or would just generate enough interest to the product again. This is more if he left on the top of his UFC game, and didn't get made to look foolish before he left and re-signed with the WWE. If he comes in as "The Biggest Bad-Ass on the Planet" he would probably be the biggest acquisition of all. But that won't happen.

Otherwise, Kurt Angle would be my pick for quality, whereas The Rock and Austin have been draws, but I'm not sure if they still have it in them. Even if Austin were hypothetically in ring shape. I do think ratings would spike, but you have to keep in mind that these guys were around when the Attitude era died, and the WWE had obviously come out of being a pop-culture phenomenon. I do think that The Rock and Austin would now have a nostalgia feel to them, and assuming they had some great matches left in them, would be amazing assets to the company.

Right now, though, the WWE seems to promote itself more than it does its top stars. It's all about how the WWE is a global empire, they have been around so long, etc. What they need to really fit this is a guy who legitimises their status as where the biggest and boldest go. Brock Lesnar would truly be the best choice, in my opinion, if that's the case.

Didn't think of this but yes, this would be the best scenario. Not only does Brock have a history with the company, the fact that he's been at the top of the UFC virtually since his debut with the company would help build steam for a second run.

I would love to see Lesnar come back and redestory the entire roster before being fed Cena at Mania. The possibilities...

I wouldn't buy that unless they had full nudity and advanced titty shaking physics.

That would be a great selling point for any game.

"Updated driving mechanics, more realistic tracks and advanced titty shaking physics!"

To be fair though, with Skip Sheffield down, unless they come up with something big soon I see the end of Nexus shortly.

I think the one VSG posted is the the promotional one that will run in ads. I've noticed that they've been doing multiple posters lately, but most of the official ones always have one wrestler on it. It's the theme for this year.

Steve Blackman can still recall the sight of Shane McMahon plummeting 50 feet from the side of a steel structure to the ground below.

"He took a hell of a fall," Blackman said. "And that crazy guy took it backwards."

The intense competitor has good reason to remember the wild moment — after all, he was the man that sent Shane on this dangerous plunge.

It was SummerSlam 2000 and the two rivals were waging a brutal war over the Hardcore Title. Although Shane had previously defeated Blackman for the championship with the help of Test and Albert, he was on his own in this contest and running for his life.

The chase led the two men to the top of a massive set at the end of the entrance ramp where they jockeyed for position on the perilous structure. With the help of a kendo stick, Blackman won out and sent Shane crashing to the floor below.

The Lethal Weapon wasn't done there, however. He was about to unleash an elbow drop that the WWE Universe would not soon forget.

"I just took a breath and said, 'Here we go," Blackman recalled. "I mean, there was no turning back at that point."

Brutal and breathtaking, the climax of this match would be remembered as one of the most shocking moments in WWE history and, in many ways, was the pinnacle of the short-lived Hardcore Championship. The title, which had been the focal point of many wild matches between the likes of Crash Holly and The Mean Street Posse, suddenly felt like a championship worth fighting for.

“I loved doing Hardcore Matches,” Blackman said. "I had a lot of good matches with Bob Holly, Kane, a bunch of guys.

As a martial artist, the Pennsylvania native was especially effective in this anything-goes environment where he could use the dangerous weapons he’d trained with for years.

"I tried to come up with different ways to use weapons," Blackman said. “Different things you could do with a garbage can, doing spinning backfists with the lids, using my Singapore canes on people.”

After dominating the Hardcore division for most of 2000, Blackman formed a short-lived tag team with Too Cool's Grand Master Sexay. Eventually, though, Blackman took a break from the ring to heal a nagging neck injury. But when the damage proved to be too much for the Superstar to keep competing, he parted ways with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2002.

It wouldn't take long, though, for Blackman to start on his new career path.

"I had a lot of guys asking me if I would train them in [mixed martial arts] and I kept putting it off," Blackman said. "But after a year of getting back on track, I finally decided to open up my own gym."

Utilizing his years of training in jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing and various other disciplines, the 245-pounder took advantage of the burgeoning popularity of combat sports and began working with a few local students. As MMA’s success boomed, so did Blackman's.

"I trained some guys in my garage and one thing led to another and now I have a huge, 5,000-square foot spot in a warehouse."

Located in Harrisburg, Pa., the massive gym is loaded with all the training systems an MMA student would need and even houses a full-sized cage for sparring. And as the school's owner and head trainer, Blackman gives all his warriors hands-on lessons.

“I do mostly jiu-jitsu instructing and wrestling drills,” he explained. “Then I brought one guy in to help me do some boxing training.”

With 80 to 100 students regularly enrolled in Blackman’s school, the former Superstar works long hours, but only the strongest pupils make it in his class.

"Everyone thinks they're a fighter until they come in and do a class of boxing and jiu-jitsu," Blackman said. "Nine times out of ten people just don’t have it in them to want to train that hard everyday."

The fighters that can hack it with The Lethal Weapon have a chance to test their skills in front of an audience through Blackman's own Pennsylvania Fighting Championship.

"I started doing my own shows a year ago," Blackman revealed. "I put all the fights together, make the card, book the building, all that stuff."

Regularly held at the Zembo Shrine Center in Blackman’s native Harrisburg, the shows have drawn a strong fanbase thanks to the hard-hitting action Blackman’s students provide.

“I did three shows this year and we’ve had pretty good turnouts,” he said.

While most of his time is spent in the smashmouth world of contact sports, Blackman enjoys a more relaxed home life with his wife and their young daughter.

"All those years on the road, I didn't think I would be a dad," Blackman said. "It's quite a difference for me now being married and having a kid."

And while he hasn't stepped through WWE ropes since Raw's 15th Anniversary show in 2007, The Lethal Weapon doesn't completely rule out a return to the ring.

"Some days when I feel really good I get tempted — especially when I see Bret Hart on Raw," Blackman admitted. "I miss being out there."
