I was trying to think of a stupid gimmick for that stupid gimmick thread, but instead came up with this awesome one:

A wrestler debuts and he is talking a lot of smack to just about everybody. Real annoying kind of guy who the fans just want to see get beat down.

Finally he is scheduled to go up against one of the main event faces in what everyone thinks will be a squash.... but they never get the chance to find out! For the dude shows up encased in a giant bubble and claims to have contracted some rare disease and that for the safety of all he must stay within his bubble.

He still shows up week in and week out, though, insisting that he still wants to entertain the fans with his presence. He will also continue to talk smack and tell people they are lucky he has to stay in his bubble because otherwise he would kick their ass.

Triple H nominated for Most Metal Athlete at 2013 Revolver Golden Gods Awards

He’s known as The Game, The Cerebral Assassin and The King of Kings. Now, Triple H has a chance to add another, more heavy metal moniker at Revolver Magazine’s 2013 Golden Gods Awards. WWE’s COO is up for the Most Metal Athlete award and YOU, the WWE Universe, have the power to make sure the 13-time World Champion adds this award to his lengthy list of accolades.

Triple H isn’t the first WWE Superstar to be up for the award. CM Punk took home the honor last year, while The Miz was a nominee in 2011. This year, The Game is up against mixed martial artist Clay Guida, Anaheim Angels pitcher CJ Wilson, skateboarder Geoff Rowley, rally car driver Tanner Foust and Green Bay Packers tight end Tom Crabtree.

The Golden Gods Awards will be presented on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles. It will be broadcast live on AXS TV, Xbox Live and Facebook. Dallas lost out because of the potential dates for the next 2 Manias occur around the same period as the next 2 NCAA Men's Basketball tournaments for the city. Earliest they can have it is in 2015.

Monday's press conference, expected to be the announcement of WrestleMania XXX for the Superdome in New Orleans at Noon Eastern time, will have Vince McMahon, HHH, The Rock, John Cena and Stephanie McMahon all present.

As noted a few times on recent updates, The Rock has committed to working next year's WrestleMania, although his current run will end in April before he leaves for Hungary and Croatia to film "Hercules."

Probably safe to assume Rock-Cena III next year.

Sounds like a possibility. I think they'd really wanna do a 1 on 1 match.

I mean, I understand your point, I just really think it boils down to "who really cares?" and I don't mean that in a negative way.

Like, you say "500 days" which is a great accomplishment in the business of wrestling, but I'm just thinking maybe thats not what they're trying to do or accomplish. They gave him the belt for 434 days, I think winning it back in a really heel way is a great way to get some heat; we've already seen that in Punks mind he never lost it. From a business perspective he had a long reign and added legitimacy to the title, The Rock winning the title puts a lot more eyes on the product, and if Punk indeed does win it back in some type of heel fashion, that's just one more "X-Time WWE Champion" that we can add to that, if someone were to care about a "statline" of sorts.

I mean, I guess I'm just not as critical of the booking, simply because accolades in a scripted sport are kind of perceived differently, by me at least. I just want the story to unfold in a way thats entertaining. We'll see tho.

Yeah, they're accolades in a scripted sport but they're still incredibly meaningful within the realm of the story. The Undertaker hasn't REALLY accomplished anything by being 20-0 at WrestleMania. Within the story though, it's HUGELY important.

I didn't mind Punk's reign ending at the Rumble. If he just wins it back though at EC, it's a waste of a better story.

I am surprised that WWE is having one of the main event angles at WrestleMania be about militant redneck xenophobes trying to take down the rich Mexican. WWE have kind of backed themselves into a corner by putting Ryback up against The Shield as neither can "afford to lose".

As I see it, they've made the right decisions so far. The Shield have won through cohesiveness and I don't feel Ryback is any less over due to these losses (see the reaction he got whilst stood on the apron at Elimination Chamber).

I'd hate for Ryback to decimate The Shield at Mania as I feel that would curtail their momentum.

I'd also not be keen on a Ryback turn just yet.
