From WWE.com:

Dr. Chris Amann has provided WWE.com with an injury update on Triple H.

The WWE COO has suffered a fractured vertebrae from the two sledgehammer attacks he received from Kevin Nash on Raw SuperShow. Amann told WWE.com that The Game will be out of action for at least six weeks due to the injuries he sustained. The diagnosis was made at the Austin, Texas, medical facility that Triple H was rushed to after the attacks.

Stay tuned to WWE.com for updates on Triple H's condition.

---

Could it be a quick return swerve? Yes. But that dates his return for after Survivor Series. Plus, that was a brutal attack with a lot of selling it as "OMG". Starting to think he may have legit fucked up his shoulder or neck on the Powerbomb and is injured.

Could be why the ten man was changed to a tag.

Or maybe it wasn't supposed to be a ten man. Can't be "changed" to a tag when it is a tag when first announced.

There was material released saying it'd be a ten man.

From WWE.com, dated September 16:

WWE sources have confirmed that The Rock and John Cena will be a part of a Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Tag Team Match.

Stay tuned for more details.

It can still turn into a ten man, don't get me wrong, just saying that it's a possibility of it being dropped.

Former NWA World champion and Four Horsemen member Barry Windham, 50, who was easily one of the top in-ring wrestlers of the 1980s, is currently hospitalized in an Intenstive Care Unit in Florida.

Reports are that Windham either suffered a stroke or a heart attack sometime over the last 24 hours.

Windham, who lives in Florida caring for his father Blackjack Mulligan, just made an appearance several weeks back for the Legends of the Ring convention in Monroe, NJ.

Mulligan has taken to his Facebook page, asking fans to keep Windham in their prayers. Our best to the entire Mulligan family at this time.

From a Cena interview on WWE.com:

Cena continued, “It really dawned on me when the phrase ‘Never Give Up’ became popular. I’ve never really said it on TV – maybe once – but everyone kind of associated it with me because it was on my T-shirts. I get so many messages on Twitter and questions like, ‘Hey, I’m being bullied at school. What do I do?’ Those are very personal situations, and each requires a unique approach to handle, but ‘Rise Above Hate’ is a way to tell someone to be the bigger person. Because if anyone gets bullied around here [in WWE], it’s me.”

Cena? Bullied?

If anything, Cena is one of the biggest bullies.

John Cena rises above hate

From humble beginnings growing up in West Newbury, Mass., to his nearly 10 years as a WWE Superstar, John Cena has absorbed more punishment than he’d probably care to recall. Whether he’s squaring off with The Miz & R-Truth in a Handicap Match on Raw SuperShow or competing in front of a hostile crowd, the stalwart Superstar doesn’t just shrug off animosity, he rises above it.

At Vengeance, on the same night his mission to capture Alberto Del Rio’s WWE Championship ended at the hands of the diabolical tandem known as The “Awesome Truth,” Cena’s new attire and the self-empowering message emblazoned in red, white and blue on the front – “Rise Above Hate” – provided the members of Cenation with some much-needed inspiration as their hero faced seemingly insurmountable odds.

“I wanted to make a positive statement,” Cena told WWE.com in describing his latest shirt, which features the logo of the anti-bullying “be a STAR” campaign printed on the sleeve. “I have a varied group of loyal fans out there that will literally back me through thick and thin. I’m known for crazy graphics and colors on my shirts, and I’ve pretty much run through the entire rainbow. I didn’t want the message to be drowned out with a graphic or anything like that, so we went real simple [with a black shirt] and put the words ‘Rise Above Hate’ with ‘Hustle, Loyalty, Respect’ on the back.” (PHOTOS)

Because if anyone gets bullied around here [in WWE], it’s me.” (FOLLOW CENA ON TWITTER)

At Vengeance, Cena also debuted new ring gear, replacing his iconic “jorts” with shorts featuring a variety of camouflage designs.

“The jean shorts, for the moment, have been retired,” Cena said assertively. “These are military-issued camo, and I think they will stand out. I have every U.S. Military service branch represented: Army, Marine Corps., Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard. I’ll be changing it up from time to time.”

However, Cena was quick to clarify that he hasn’t ditched the denim completely.

“They’re always in the closet,” Cena said. “Maybe when they come back in style 30 years from now I’ll bust them out for the WWE Hall of Fame or something.”

After Canadian Stampede, they had a Raw in Canada straight after, then San Antonio and they're back in Canada again now.

That schedule is ridiculous, but it is awesome to see the main faces and heels switching every week almost. In the Canadian ones, the Hart Foundation could take someones mother to the ring and gang rape them and whoevers mother it was would be popping like crazy.

I'm assuming he's going to get more and more annoyed with people bugging him about it, and he's going to get more and more "angry" in the ring, and build up some steam heading into Mania. I'm assuming then he'll lose, and copy the ROH walk out after he loses (basically saying if he's not good enough to win the world title, he doesn't belong here, and he leaves.) Except this time, instead of going to Japan ,coming back, and winning the title, I expect him to just come out on the next show, snap, and try to cripple the champion.

You gotta admit, DB losing to Henry at Mania, coming back two weeks later, snapping, and essentially breaking his leg or arm would be bad ass.

What is a Sooner, and why are they "Boomers"?

Xero
10-29-2011, 08:32 PM
http://www.soonersports.com/trads/what-is-a-sooner.html

What is a Sooner?

College sports fans are hard-pressed to find a nickname that is as unique and as linked to a state's history as a Sooner. The University of Oklahoma is the only school known as Sooners.

The origins of Oklahoma's nickname stretch back to the Civil War era. The Homestead Act of 1862, signed by President Abraham Lincoln, provided that a legal settler could claim 160 acres of public land, and those who lived on and improved the claim for five years could receive title.

"Boomers" were settlers who favored the opening of unassigned lands in the Oklahoma Territory and lobbied the U.S. government to this end. Promoting the "Boomer's Paradise," early advocates of settlement in the Unassigned Lands began what is referred to as the "Boomer Movement.

The Boomer Movement gained new momentum in 1886 and 1887 when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway constructed a line that ran right through the Unassigned Lands. Rail stations at Guthrie, Edmond, Oklahoma (City), Verbeck (Moore), and Norman, created when the line was built, offered high potential for townsites.

At this time political pressure was exerted to open up the Unassigned Lands to settlement. In 1889 an amendment to the Indian Appropriations Bill allowed President Benjamin Harrison to proclaim the Unassigned Lands open for settlement.

At high noon on April 22, 1889, legal aspirants would be able to enter the Oklahoma Territory and choose 160 acres of land. The event soon became known as the "Oklahoma Land Run" or "Land Run of 1889". Settlers from across the globe, seeking free land, made their way to Oklahoma Territory to stake their claim to a new life.

The great dramatic moment came when, at the stroke of noon, starting signals were given at the many points of entry. In some instances it was given by a blue-clad military officer firing his pistol or by his trumpeter, at times by a citizen firing his rifle in the air, or, as at Fort Reno, by the boom of a cannon. All produced the same results -- a tumultuous avalanche of wagons and horsemen surging forward all in one breathtaking instant.

April 22, 1889, was a day of chaos, excitement, and utter confusion. But it was nonetheless a significant day in national history, one that gave birth to new hope for thousands of Americans and became an iconic image in the history of the west.

One of the few rules to claiming a lot of land was that all participants were to start at the same time. Those who went too soon were called "Sooners". Sooners were often deputy marshals, land surveyors, railroad employees, and others who were able to legally enter the territory early to mark out choice pieces of land for themselves or others.

As time went on, "Sooner" came to be a synonym of Progressivism. The Sooner was an "energetic individual who travels ahead of the human procession." He was prosperous, ambitious, competent, a "can-do" individual. And Oklahoma was the Sooner State, the land of opportunity, enterprise and economic expansion, very much in the Progressive spirit that engulfed the old South in the 1920s.

OU athletics teams were called Rough Riders or Boomers for 10 years before the current Sooner nickname emerged in 1908. The university actually derived the name from a pep club called 'The Sooner Rooters.'

Today, the thunderous chants of "Boomer! Sooner!" roll across the Oklahoma landscape. The success of University of Oklahoma athletics teams over the years has made the nickname synonymous with winning.

So I've just finished watching Superstars and I'm a bit surprised at what was edited out because it was shown before the watershed here in the UK.

Now I know that weapon shots and blood are edited out in the early morning broadcasts and that's understandable, but for some reason they cut out Nikki Bella taunting Eve at the beginning of their match and Eve shaking her ass before she hits the standing moonsault.

But yet they showed Kelly Kelly spanking Brie and Kelly shaking her ass but they cut out Kelly sticking her ass in Brie's face.

They really have to make up their mind. Either edit out all the ass related actions or keep them all in the broadcast.

Also, during the Rhodes/DiBiase match they cut out Rhodes hitting DiBiase with his mask, which was to be expected, but they showed it during the replay when the match was over. :wtf:

Cool King
10-30-2011, 07:40 AM
But I'm assuming that the edits were made in the Diva's match because they were probably deemed too "sexual" or something. But if that's the case, then it's stupid as you have music channels here in the UK showing music videos which contain "raunchy" scenes and violent scenes and songs that are all about sex, which kids are listening too.

Though, pretty much 95% of chart music today is about sex anyway.

That would mean WWE would be promoting somthing WCW created. It's really hard to try and bury a set, like they have buried everything else WCW did.

Pretty much sums it up, if it has anything to do with being patriotic, you can be sure WWE will do it.

RAW Muppet Spoilers (mainly just segments planned), from PWInsider:

WWE will be going heavy on the Halloween theme tomorrow, including a Divas costume contest that is in the current draft of the show.

Three Muppet Performers that I know of are scheduled for Raw - Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson and Bill Barretta, as well as some right hands (performers who operate the other arm of the Muppet while the primary performer manipulates their voice and left arm). That would mean that pretty much all the major Muppet characters except Gonzo would be available for WWE to use. I haven't heard if Dave Goelz, who portrays Gonzo was booked or not.

One segment that The Muppet performers were asked to prepare for involved Stadler and Waldforf doing commentary for a match, which I can only assume would be the Michael Cole vs. Jim Ross segment.

:D on that last one.

MUPPETS guest host. You'd get the whole shebang. Statler and Waldorf in the balcony, the Muppets creating havoc backstage...

Highest ratings ever.

Looks like WWE decided to use one of Lock Jaw's ideas after he was canned as GM. This way they don't have to give him credit.

Or maybe it was one of his last official rulings.

We need the truth, Mr. Anonymous RAW GM.
