So I was walking through the Charlotte airport the other day. I had to be up at 3:30 am (eastern) to catch my flight from Wilmington, NC to Charlotte then to Kansas City. That was pretty stupid booking on the WWF's part. They had hyped the shit out of Stone Cold Vs. Triple H on MTV and pretty much anywhere else. They pretty much brought back the Rock N' Wrestling Connection and then changed the main event like four times in the span of like a week.

I heard that ol' Stone Cold didn't really want to job to Triple H, but was convinced to job to Mankind instead for a transitional championship. There is no way in hell that Chyna was ever really going to be in the WWF Championship match. It was just to give her a little bit more exposure as she was already getting alot of attention by being on MTV with Triple H all the time on TRL.

Sin Cara's already getting over. He's having decent matches, and gets has the machine very much behind him. Hard to believe he won't be a success in the very near future.

Zeke is getting a solid face push in the mid card, and Barrett's got the IC title and is in a fued with Zeke, which gives both ample tv time.

Brian can get support when he's inserted into something people actually care about, and he may get that with a Cody Rhodes fued. DiBiase just needs a brand new direction. I still think DiBiase has a chance. He's got a good look, he can work, and he's still relatively young. Being on SmackDown! is a good thing. He just needs some direction. I don't think pairing him with Rhodes is that direction.

I'd rather have him be the EXACT opposite of Rhodes. Cody is going to need something to clash against, personality wise. Turning DiBiase into a knowingly good looking, cocky, rich young man would be better than that Fortunate Son crap they canned while on Raw.

Actually just because they are put in the main-event does not necessarily mean they are a draw...it might mean they are trying to get them over.

Barrett is interesting as his run with Cena was successful, but Cena is Cena, and I will wait on him until he does it on a consistent basis with different workers. Example: IMO, Orton / Barrett was a disappointment.

What seperates CM Punk and those six is that CM Punk is a proven commodity.

I'll agree with you on Cody, only because he MIGHT have a bigger future. But then you have guys like Bryan, Tatsu, Kidd, Baretta, Slater, Gabriel, Bourne, Hawkins (he may be too big, can't think off the top of my head). Most of those guys are never going to be world champion. The beauty of it is though, IF they do reach that level, it's not a hard build up.

Example 1. Just have someone clear out the division. If someone becomes so dominant, they could start facing bigger guys to prove themselves. AKA, someone who is too "big" (ego) for the divison.

Example 2. Royal Rumble winner.

Example 3. Royal Rumble Elimination. Have a cruiser eliminate a big name in the Rumble. HAve the big name challenge them, have the cruiser win. If the big name wins the title or something later, the feud is already built.

Example 4. Money in the bank.

There are ways to move a cruiser into the main event, if needed.

Furthermore, one of the reasons Mysterio as champ in WCW would have been a joke was because for the most part, he was treated crappy outside the division. He was lawn darted into things by Nash, etc. They were never meant to be taken seriously outside of the division. WWE could (but probably wouldn't) build the division as a group of superstars who are credible threats to people. This just have to emphasize that the class is based on weight.

Season 1 of Tough Enough was, for all intents and purposes, a "reality" show. They found flat out nobodies and turned them into superstars overnight... if you recall, Maven got a lot of shit and resentment for winning a job "overnight" most guys in the 'E at the time worked the better part of a decade or more to get.

Season 2 and foward sought to eliminate some of the preliminary "dead weight" (and some of the backstage resentment) by asking participants to actually HAVE a wrestling background, but still, it was moving towards a shot at working WWE, which none of them did.

What Mr. Fan was trying to say, though not so elegantly, was that now, it's pretty much a joke- an angle. Not only are the guys in the "competition" ALREADY more or less under contract with the company via FCW, but that it seemed that this guy was already given the keys to the kingdom before the first episode was even in the can. It's not so much the "GASP! IT'S SCRIPTED?!" reaction, it's the fact that Tough Enough, like NXT, the whole production is a total angle from start to finish designed to do the work that vignettes for debuting wrestlers used to. (Example, NXT 1 was merely a tool to set up all those guys for the Nexus angle... didn't truly matter that Barrett "won", they all got called up anyway.) A far cry from the original show.

They could essentially just eliminate all this "stupidity" and fabricated "contests" simply by televising FCW.

Doing that made his chances of making it to the WWE a lot greater as the WWE does have the habit of giving contracts to people who don't even win the shows. So even if he didn't win, he'd have a better chance of getting a WWE contract over waiting around in FCW for a few years, hoping someone notices him and calls him up to the WWE and before being released from his FCW contract happens.

Also, it allowed him to be trained by Booker T & Co. That's not bad either.

I'd be more concerned about their habit of hiring almost everyone from a contest which makes winning the thing a bit moot if everyone else wins in the end. The Divas Searches were the worst examples of this since WWE ended up hiring almost everyone each season and making the supposed contest seem like a "waste" of time.

Again, we all know wrestling is scripted. I enjoy being a smartass as much as the next guy, but to keep ignoring the intent behind the statment to belittle the statement itself is just stupid.

It seems like an expensive effort in both time and money to promote something that, in the end, doesn't matter. I am going to use NXT as an example again. If the intent is to call up ALL of the best performers you think can make it to the next level, why even bother presenting it as a competition where "only one can win", then we see 5 of the losers on SmackDown the next week while the "winner" gets Superstars duty and/or "future endeavored"?

There is no logic in this, even in the world of wrestling, even to the casual fans with short term memories. They're asking the viewer to suspend belief, which is the nature of the beast itseklf. They're putting it over as some grand concept of drama, and give you the parameters in which they want you to accept the show, then afterwards, they say "all that shit about this being a one-winner contest? We made that shit up!" Use that creative energy you wasted putting together a season of Topugh Enough to give guys that are ALREADY ON THE ROSTER something to do. Use the timeslot for another hour of RAW. Make a show centered around a cruiserwieght title. Something. Just don't say "Here, you should care about this!" and when it's over, treat the audience like they wasted their time caring about it.

Let's say R-Truth wins the title. he has a long, drawn out chanse where John Cena just can't win it back. 6 months of nearfalls, stipulations, run ins, and intertwining angles later, he FINALLY wins the title back on PPV. Then, instead of celebrating, he immediately cuts a promo saying "You know what, folks? This belt doesn't matter. It's fake and scripted, and I don't give a crap about it." And drops it on the ground and walks off. Now please, don't take this opportunity to turn this into an anti-Cena thing. I just sued those two because they're the RAW main event picture right now.

I'm just saying that in this world that is wrestling, a World Title in general is the be all, end all, and then suddenly, you're being told by the new champion that it doesn't mean anything. And not in that Shane Douglas "I'd rather defend THIS title" way. The whole angle waste and you've just been told this in no uncertain terms.

This is kind of the same idea. IT'S NOT THAT IT'S SCRIPTED. WE GET THAT. THAT'S GIVEN. MOVE BEYOND THAT STATEMENT.

I was working last night and it wasn't until about 5:30 pm that I heard on the radio that TNA was in my town doing a show lol. Anyways we pulled into the arena to see if any of the Knockouts were out behind but none.
