SCHLOMEY RATES THIS WEEK IN WRESTLING (7/3 to 7/9)

4. Monday Night RAW - Once again RAW comes in last place. Piss poor. Boring. Sad. Miserable show as a whole.

3. NXT - Not a bad show at all but without an elimination this past week had a little less on the line. Also, the talk the talk challenge ate up too much time.

2. Friday Night Smackdown! - While it looked shitty on paper the show really came together nicely. A good solid show with just a little filler.

1. TNA Impact! - Once again Impact is my highest rated actual wrestling show of the week. Yes a little filler but the match quality was pretty great and the Flair / Lethal promo was top notch.

BEST MATCHES OF THE WEEK FOR ALL SHOWS:

1. Ted DiBiase vs John Morrison - Monday Night RAW
2. Drew McIntire vs Kofi Kingston - Friday Night Smackdown
3. Big Show vs Jack Swagger - Friday Night Smackdown
4. The Miz vs Kaval - NXT
5. Kazarian vs AJ Styles - Impact
6. Samoa Joe vs RVD - Impact
7. Doug Williams vs Jeremy Buck ( X Ladder Match)- Impact

Hopefully RAW can get their asses in gear but overall it was a good week in wrestling. Impact didn't have a bad match. Smackdown was way better than expected. NXT was solid yet standard. RAW....here's looking at you kid...shape up.

Honestly, I think that spot made Bourne in my eyes. Never really saw him anywhere near level with someone like Orton, but that elevated him to me by a ridiculous degree.

I only enjoyed the Intro. The rest was pretty bad.

I just thought it was funny seeing wrestlers parodying something like that and it was unexpected.

Also, anything with Santino is gold in my eyes and I find Regal highly entertaining with whatever he does too.

I also find Regal immensely entertaining all the time. However, in the back of my mind I always feel pity for him. Remember when he was the all mighty general manager and was rocking the boat....compare that to now.....Yeah I find it sad.

Granted it's his own fault for having another violation ...but still..breaks my heart as to what could have been.

So I'm watching TNA for the first time in like two years. Glad to see there's a regular 4-sided ring, but what I want to know is this...what is the point in a NON-TITLE "I Quit" match? I thought those matches were supposed to resolve feuds completely.

It's TNA. They overuse gimmick matches.

SCHLOMEY RANKS THIS WEEK IN WRESTLING (ending 7/17)

Ok another mixed bag this week. Seemed like all the shows this week had good moments and tons of questionable ones. Anywho, on with the ranking.

4. WWE Monday Night RAW - 3 straight weeks at the bottom. This show was highlighted by the Randy Orton vs Edge match. However, the main event letdown & the Brady Bunch abortion was enough to make me question if I'll continue tuning in or not. I am actually getting upset at myself for tuning in week after week at this point.

3. NXT - Pretty weak show as a whole. We got a talk show & a Mark Henry match. The main event battle royal was pretty sweet (ran a lil long really) but the rest of the show was just background noise.

2. TNA Impact - Impact finally knocked down a spot after 2 straight weeks at number 1. Impact had good moments and matches but when it sucked...it really sucked. I actually liked the Knockouts brawl/match too. Kendrick vs Williams was a product of over booking but at least it was a good tv match. Having Lethal lose to Hardy right after going over Flair is dumb but again, at least it was a good tv match. The second half of impact had good matches....the ending was back to the unusual/sucky part of the program.

1. Smackdown! - Finally a Smackdown that quenched my thirst. I loved the entire show and even the Swagger/Kane shit was at least tolerable. The worst thing we had to endure was a mixed tag featuring Christ Masters...The rest of the show was spot on really.

Was reading up about Tough Enough. This is pretty crazy:

In the cover story from the October 5, 2002 issue of the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter,[2] it was revealed that contestant "Lisa" was removed from the show after what was referred to as a "psychotic breakdown." After being left at the house while the other contestants went out to dinner, she began throwing herself against the walls of the house, eventually breaking into the hidden MTV control room and working her way onto the roof. After being talked down by producers, she was committed to a hospital facility to receive psychiatric treatment. Her parents flew in from New Mexico to pick her up, but she physically attacked them, claiming she did not know them. She then escaped custody inside LAX, shutting down a wing of the airport until she was located. Again, she was hospitalized, but she was able to check herself out shortly after. She then contacted Tough Enough producers, claiming she was ready to return to the show. Producers informed her she had been removed from the competition due to her actions. The other contestants (and, subsequently, the audience) were initially told that Lisa simply decided wrestling "wasn't the right career for her."

Lisa then reemerged in Louisville, Kentucky at the Ohio Valley Wrestling training center, claiming that trainer Al Snow and producer John "Big" Gaburik had sent her for additional training, both in the ring and to learn further about the structure of the developmental territory system. At a series of shows in California in September 2002, she managed to talk her way backstage, and was even allowed to assist with the pyrotechnics for the wrestlers' entrances at a TV taping. One source even claimed that she had a face-to-face conversation with Vince McMahon, who was apparently unaware of her status with the Tough Enough program. Soon after, her photograph was circulated to security personnel and she was barred from any backstage areas.

I can understand full matches and shows, especially newer ones, but what do they gain by taking down fan tributes? Bigger companies can get away with it (in wrestling and elsewhere), but a company like ROH should be embracing it to push their product, which is something they need to do.
