SCHLMOEY RANKS THIS WEEK IN WRESTLING (7/23 edition)

Before I start let me say that this was a good week to be a wrestling fan I think. Here we are in order from worst to first.

4. NXT - Not horrible but the obstacle course was lame and the matches were just average.

3. Impact - TNA slipped another spot this week. The matches were ok but the ECW stuff didn't deliver.

2. Friday Night Smackdown - Great show with zero filler (unless you count LayCool) --- The matches this week were all top notch.

1. Monday Night RAW - Holy shit RAW has been in last place like 4 straight weeks. Thank GOD they got the official Schlomey Report memo and decided to step it up. The matches were either great or at very least not vomit inducing. Welcome back to the top of the heap flagship show.

MATCHES OF THE WEEK!

TNA Impact:
1. Jeff Hardy vs Samoa Joe
2. Beer Money vs MCMG - match 2 of 5

Friday Night Smackdown
1. Rey Mysterio vs Jack Swagger - 2/3 Falls Match
2. Dolph Ziggler vs Kofi Kingston
3. McIntire & Rhodes vs Hardy & Christian

not a match but be sure and catch Kane's show opening promo it was awesome.

Monday Night RAW
1. Sheamus vs Evan Bourne
2. Randy Orton vs Edge vs Chris Jericho

OVERVIEW:

Definitely the match of the week was the RAW triple threat that opened the show. It will be considered one of the best matches RAW has had all year by most who watch it. RAW was enjoyable for the first time in what seemed like ages. Smackdown didn't have a bad match. TNA had some good mixed in with some piss poor & NXT slipped to number 4 this week cuz it was weaksauce.

There you have it folks. Have a great weekend.

Why the fuck is ROH calling copyright claims now?

I can understand full matches and shows, especially newer ones, but what do they gain by taking down fan tributes? Bigger companies can get away with it (in wrestling and elsewhere), but a company like ROH should be embracing it to push their product, which is something they need to do.

I understand where your coming from i recentlly had a video of mine pulled that was a tribute to a tag team called the flatliners who had 2 matches with ROH.The vid consisted of 30 seconds of roh footage with half of them being entrance clips.

Cages

TNA's six sides of steel, as seen at Lockdown 2007
Cages are one of the oldest form of enclosures used in professional wrestling and one of the most violent matches. According to some historians, the first "cage match" of any kind took place on June 25, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia.[79] This match took place in a ring surrounded by chicken wire, in order to keep the athletes inside and any potential interference out of the action.[80] They have evolved a great deal over time, changing from chicken wire[81] to steel bars to chain-link fencing (the latter is now the standard, due to it being cheaper to manufacture, lighter to transport, and more flexible and thus safer for the wrestlers).
A steel cage match is a match fought within a cage formed by placing sheets of mesh metal around, in, or against the edges of the wrestling ring. the way to win a steel cage match are as followed; either pinfall, submission, or by escaping the cage (over the top or through the door) and having both feet touch the arena floor. Total Nonstop Action Wrestling have 6 sides of steel hense the reason why it is called the 6 sides of steel but this was change when tna change the ring to a clasic ring like wwe wcw and most pro wrestling companies.
[edit]Hell in a Cell
Main article: Hell in a Cell
The hell in a cell match type is a match where the ring is surrounded by a steel chain link fence cage structure, with a roof. In this type of match there are no countouts and no disqualifications. The only way to win this match is by pinfall or submission. This match type is seen on rare occasions since it is famous for its brutality and potential to end careers. This match is usually seen in World Wrestling Entertainment. The cage door is closed and lock with a chain and a padlock during this type of match, but there are hell in a cell matches on record where superstars have fought outside the cage, and on one occasion a superstar was pinned outside the cage.
[edit]Doomsday Cage match
Also called a Tower of Doom, Russo's Revenge or the Doomsday Cage is a three story cage—the middle one split into two rooms—all of which house wrestlers. The object of the match is for a team of wrestlers to fight their way from the top cage to the bottom, where pinfalls and submissions come into play.[82][83]
[edit]Inferno match
The ring is surrounded by fire. The only way to win is to set your opponent on fire using the flames provided. The flames allegedly reach heights of six feet tall and temperatures of five hundred degrees Fahrenheit.
[edit]Electrified Cage match
The ring is surrounded by a steel cage, like a normal Steel Cage match, but the cage is then electrified. The cage can be used as a weapon but the only way to win is by pinfall or submission.
[edit]Elimination Chamber match

The Elimination Chamber structure.
Main article: Elimination Chamber
The Elimination Chamber is a large, circular steel cage which surrounds the ring entirely, including creating a grated floor area on the apron. Inside the cage, at each turnbuckle, is a clear "pod" where four of the six competitors in the match must wait to be released to join the two who start at the opening bell. As the name implies, wrestlers are eliminated one-by-one until only one remains.[84] An Extreme Elimination Chamber took place at the 2006 December to Dismember pay-per-view, where a weapon was given to each wrestler waiting in a pod. The metal is black and the chambers are made of 'bulletproof' glass. The chamber is 36 feet (11 m) in diameter and is composed of 16 tons of steel and 2 miles (3.2 km) of chain.
[edit]Lion's Den match
The Lion's Den match aimed to mimic the look and feel of mixed martial arts matches. A sloping, angular, steel cage was set up, with rules stating that the only way to achieve victory was through knockout or submission.[85]
[edit]Punjabi Prison match
The Punjabi Prison match, named after the Punjab region that The Great Khali (the match's 'founder') is billed from, consists of two large bamboo cages. The first being four sided and standing 16 feet (4.8 m) tall, while the second has eight sides and stands 20 feet (6 m) surrounding the first.
The inner cage has a four foot (1.2 m) by four foot door on each of its sides, with a referee standing by to open them at a wrestler's request. Each door may only be opened once and is only allowed to remain open for sixty seconds, after which it is padlocked. Should all four doors end up locked before the wrestlers escapes, they are forced to climb out over the top, where the bamboo is fashioned into spikes. Between the two cages are sometimes placed two tables, upon which are weapons (both "medieval" and "bamboo" variations of standard wrestling weapons). Once a wrestler has escaped the first cage, they must climb over and out of the second cage, with the first wrestler having both of their feet touch the arena floor being declared the winner. [86]
[edit]Thundercage
World Championship Wrestling's Thundercage, in the film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, is a large domed structure of steel bars engulfing the ring. Although it does not have a top, the sides curve in to prevent escape.
Mexico's AAA promotion tweaked the concept with Domo De La Muerte, which uses a similar cage but only allows victory by escaping through a hole at the top center. This variation is also used in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, where it is called the Steel Asylum. In AAA it is typically used for a multi-man luchas de apuestas with the last man standing in the cage losing his mask or hair.
The Thunderdome is a variation on the Thundercage, with the area near the top of the cage electrified. The only way for a wrestler to win the Thunderdome match is to have their opponents' "terminator," usually a manager who stands outside of the ring, throw in the towel to stop the match. In another variation of this match, each pinned competitor in the match is handcuffed to the cage.[87] The last man left in the match is given a key to unlock his teammates to attack the other team, who are still handcuffed.[87].
[edit]Triple Cage match
A Triple Cage match involves three cages stacked on top of each other, with each cage decreasing in size from the bottom up.
Two variations exist, in one competitors begin in the ring inside the lowest cage and must make their way to the roof of the third cage where an object is suspended, with the winner being the first competitor to obtain the object and exit the cage.[88] The other, dubbed the Tower of Doom match had two teams of five make their way down from the uppermost cage to the bottom, with victory achieved when all five members of a team escaped a door there. The cages were cut off from each other, with doors controlled from outside by referees, who only opened them for two-minute intervals.[89]
[edit]WarGames
Main article: WarGames match
Sometimes suffixed with the tagline "The Match Beyond", the War Games match features two rings surrounded by an enclosed steel cage (with a roof) with two teams (or sometimes three) facing one another. One man from each team starts out with another from either team at random entering the cage via a timed interval. The winning team must get a member of another team to submit after all members of each team are in the cage. In ECW, this was known as an Ultimate Jeopardy match.
[edit]Lethal Lockdown
Similar to the WarGames match utilized in WCW, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's Lethal Lockdown consists of a single ring enclosed by a steel cage with two teams facing off with each other. The staggered entry system is identical, but weapons are permitted and are even provided. When all competitors have entered the ring, a roof is lowered onto the top of the cage, with various weapons hanging from it. Victory can be attained by pinfall or submission. This match has become a staple of TNA's Lockdown pay per view every April, where every match is contested inside a cage, but has also made appearances at other TNA pay per views.
[edit]Xscape Match
The Xscape match is featured annually at the Lockdown all-steel-cage pay-per-view in April. This variation of the Lockdown Match has 4–6 competitors and is a two stage process. The first stage is a standard pin/submission elimination contest, with eliminated wrestlers leaving the cage through the door until there are only two wrestlers left. The last two competitors then face off; the only way to win at this stage is to climb out of the cage all the way to the floor.

Snapmare

With the wrestler's back to the opponent, he/she applies a three-quarter facelock (also known as a cravate), kneels down, and then pulls the opponent forward, flipping them over his/her shoulder down to the mat, back first. Another variation, sometimes called a "flying mare", sees the wrestler pull the opponent by the hair over his/her shoulder before slamming them to the mat.[7] This is often used as a transition to a submission hold, usually a grounded sleeper.
[edit]Rolling snapmare
This variation of the snapmare sees the application of the facelock with the takeover to the opponent, but rather than the wrestler remaining stationary, he rolls with the opponent.
[edit]Snapmare driver
A high impact variation of the snapmare where instead of flipping the opponent over, the wrestler drops down either on their chest or down on their knees and drives the opponent's head down to the mat forehead first, with the three-quarter facelock.

Just thought everyone would like to know about they snapmare in general and all the different types.

The patch design on the sleeves looks nice and works as an arm band but they probably should have went with just a yellow N on the front instead of the yellow box with black N font.

"Just draw the peoples." lolwut?

Also, I like the way he said he doesn't want to make a 10 minute rant video because people will think he's crazy. I'm sure a 4 minute rant about a T-Shirt doesn't make you crazy at all.

I actually like the T-Shirt though. I think it looks cool, though the only problem I have with it is the "N" on the arm. Doesn't having the "N" on the arm kindof make the "N" armbad they're selling a bit obsolete as there's already one on the T-Shirt? :-\

But other than that, I like it and I was actually thinking of buying it at one point.

Arm drag

A move in which the wrestler uses his or her opponent's momentum to the opponent's disadvantage. The wrestler hooks the opponent's arm and flips him or her over onto the mat. The wrestler may roll on to his or her side to give the move extra momentum.

Japanese arm drag
This move is performed when an opponent runs towards the wrestler facing him or her. When the opponent is in range, the wrestler hooks the opponent's near arm with both hands and falls backwards forcing the wrestler's own momentum to cause him or her to flip forwards over the head of the wrestler and onto his or her back.

Over the shoulder arm drag
The wrestler grabs his or her opponent's arm, then turns to face the other direction and pulls the opponent over his or her shoulder. It is essentially the same as the Ippon seoi nage found in Judo.

Springboard arm drag
An arm drag performed where the attacking wrestler grabs an opponent's arm, runs up the corner ring ropes and springboards, usually off the top rope, over the opponent. This drags the opponent by his or her arm to flip over onto the mat or on to the rope

Just thought everyone would like to know about the Arm Drag in general and all the different types.

SCHLOMEY RATES THIS WEEK IN WRESTLING (7/31 edition)

Well this week was pretty mediocre in the world of professional wrasslin' - No PPV's this week so lets get right into rating the television programs.......

4. NXT - The matches were average at best and with the elimination of Eli Cottonwood I have no further reason to like this show until it gets closer to the end.

3. Monday Night RAW - Pretty lame show with a few good things. The Nexus vs RAW elimination match was fun & the dissension growing in team RAW was ok but we saw an Uso squash match, a Bella twin squash match & a lame Khali countout match. Overall it was mediocre at best. The Miz was once again a highlight, though.

2. TNA Impact - This show wasn't very good either. The only match I enjoyed was the cage match between MCMG and Beer Money. I liked that match so much in fact that Impact edged out RAW for slot number 2. The show flowed fine but not much Impact really happened.

1. Smackdown - Solid show. Nothing amazing happened but the Ziggler/Kofi match was fine, the diva match was tolerable and the main event was fun.

BEST MATCHES OF THE WEEK:

RAW
Nexus vs RAW Elimination Match

SMACKDOWN
Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler
Jack Swagger vs Rey Mysterio - No DQ
Christian vs Drew McIntire

NXT
Joe Perfect vs Eli Cottonwood

TNA
Beer Money vs MCMG - Cage Match

OVERALL BEST MATCH OF THE WEEK
Beer Money vs MCMG

WORST MATCH OF THE WEEK
Black Diva vs Bella Twin

In other bullshit news:
Regarding Johnson, Jarrett said, "We're paying huge money for Rock. We're talking many millions of dollars. If we're going to spend that kind of money, we're going to take the time to think of a really good name for him."

When asked why TNA wouldn't just use the name he is most well known by, Jarrett sharply snapped, "That's too obvious. You're not a student of the wrestling business like I am. Sure, we could headline Rock against DDP and draw 100,000 buys on PPV, but that's not why TNA is in business. We're not here to make money. We're here to get me over and do things my way. And I say Rock is not going to use the name Rock."

While nothing has been set in stone, possible ring names bandied about for Johnson are rumored to include The Maivia, Bullwinkle, The Brahma, The Bull, The Dominator of Nations, The Rundown, The Tall Walker, Koko B Cool, The Scorpion King of Wrestling, and The Mummy. There has also been talk of bringing back the Johnsons tag team, who debuted with TNA three years ago as two men dressed up as penises. "Naturally, Dwayne would return as a long, lost, Johnson triplet. There's great potential there, because Rock naturally looks like a penis already," said Jarrett.

Trying overly hard to make it look like some official USA thing, for one.

Also, they wouldn't use that shitty "plastic" effect on it.

Without those two things I'd buy it more than it already is, but there are other things, like the bottom part of the E being slightly lower than the w's and some of the lines in it not being quite right.

Again, I could buy something like that, but not that one.

All the maker has done is add another line to the old WWF logo to make the F an E.

I think if it was real, the WWE would have more likely used that idea on the WWF "Scratch Logo" when they first became WWE.

Former six-time World Heavyweight Champion, WWE superstar, the lead singer of Fozzy, & the host of ABC's Downfall, Chris Jericho, was one of the special guests on this week's live edition (08/02/10) of the award-winning Monday Night Mayhem..

What has been the most rewarding part of the release of Fozzy's fourth album, Chasing the Grail and what it has been like for the band to be embraced band by their peers within the rock/metal scene & the music industry:
"I think how the band started, it was a fun thing playing a lot of covers, and that's how we were signed by the guy that signed Metallica & Anthrax. We really didn't understand it, but we did it, and then to morph out of that into a "real band," playing all original stuff, especially our last two records. Just to see the shift in attitudes from people who understands the band, it has become a viable, kick-ass rock n' roll band with great songs. I think an example of the most rewarding part was when we played in BB Kings in New York; we had four-fifths of Anthrax there, Avenged Sevenfold joined us on stage, Vinnie Paul from Pantera was there. Just a huge cavalcade of guys from the business there, and it was just cool to say that we have respect from our peers, which is so important."

His upcoming seven-on-seven Elimination Tag Team Match at SummerSlam (Team WWE vs. The Nexus), why the angle with The Nexus has generated so much positive buzz, & why he believes the fans have been intrigued thus far:
"This match is cool, because obviously they created a great angle using guys who have never had matches on TV before basically, which I don't think has ever been done before, and to have such a talked about storyline. Seven guys who have proved nothing as far as being main-event draws, but it goes to show that when you have a good storyline, a good idea, and promote it the right way. I'm just excited about it, and I'm happy about the storyline leading up to it. I think people are really intrigued by the whole situation, and that's the best thing you could do, and to me, that's the most important thing has always been the story. The match is important, but it's the story that gets you there."

The evolution & growth of Jericho's rookie from NXT Season I Wade Barrett, why Chris knew that he saw himself with "the winner" as soon as they were paired up together, & why he would have been a great star in the WWE whether The Nexus was created or not:
"There really hasn't been much growth...he was good from the moment that he appeared. You could see his presence & his promo ability right off the bat was tremendous, his whole look & ambiance, so he was a star right off the bat, and as soon as I was paired up with him, I knew I was with the winner, because he's got it more than these other guys do. Work wise, we really haven't seen much from him. Is he a great worker? Is he a good worker? Does he suck? I don't know, I think he's a good worker and has room for improvement, and that's because he doesn't have a lot of experience in WWE arenas. But he, by far, is the most talented of the group, the biggest star of the group. Whether they created Nexus or not, he would have been a great star in the WWE. The only thing we need to work on with him is his actual matches, because we haven't gotten to see much, except for a couple of three-minute matches. But other than that, I think he's the total package of what we are looking for in the WWE at this point."

The comparisons of The Nexus to the original NWO, along with the recycling of old angles in professional wrestling & sports-entertainment:
"There's only so many ideas you could think of, and there's only so much talent out there. The bottom line is there's so many new guys on the shows nowadays, so you have to use that to your advantage, or you have to go back to your old faithful. I don't see this being the NWO, because the NWO wasn't like this. The NWO began with three guys that were all World Champions and big huge stars. So you have Hall, Nash, & Hogan who everyone had known & seen before, and that was part of the shock. The Nexus, we don't know any of these guys or seen any of them before. They have never drawn a dime anywhere, and that's the difference. This pack that are working as a well-oiled machine that's done nothing before...that's the real surprise. As far as what TNA is doing with ECW, why not?

Why he sees TNA as being a "vanity project that's been treading water for the last four years," why he sees their booking being "horrendous," why the HardCORE Justice could spike their PPV buyrates, & why bringing in Tommy Dreamer could be just what the company needs:
"They got nothing else going on, their booking is horrendous, and I say that with the utmost respect for those guys and I most desire to see them succeed, but it's crap. You know it's crap, they throw stuff up against the wall, and it's so hard to watch when it doesn't have to be. They're doing 10,000 buys on Pay-Per-View, so let's bring back The Sandman & Sabu, and maybe they could do 30,000 buys. Go for it; maybe they can do something out of it. Having a guy like Tommy Dreamer involved behind the scenes might be what they need. Get rid of the same old stuff that they have been doing over & over, and bring in someone with a new perspective, and maybe that will help them get their heads out of there asses and just making some money instead of doing this as sort of a vanity project that's been treading water for the last four years."

How Chris stays in shape with all of his WWE commitments, his duties as the host of ABC's Downfall, Fozzy, & other projects:
"Crystal Meth. No, I have a lot of drive & passion for the things that I do, and I don't take on stuff that I can't completely nail. I'm not as busy as I could be, I still turn down quite a lot of things. Obviously with the band I've been playing music a lot longer than I have been wrestling, so this is something I have always wanted to do. As far as the other things, Downfall was a huge opportunity for me, and I would be crazy not to do that. Am I busy sometimes? Yeah, but it all balances out, and when it's my time off, it's my time off."

What does Chris have left to give to the wrestling industry if he decides to stay with the WWE when his contract expires this fall & his response to the Internet rumors that foresee him leaving World Wrestling Entertainment being a mere certainty:
"Just keep giving what I've been giving for the last 20 years, which is performing at the highest level that I can, and I think the stuff I have been doing over the last three years is the best work of my career. So there's no reason for me to walk away from the WWE at this point, because I think I could perform at the level I have been doing for the last three years because you can't teach experience. The company has a great future ahead of it, and guys are starting to break through that I'm really proud of. A guy like me, who has been doing this for 20 (and I'm only 39 years old), I could keep doing this another five or six years if I want to, so when it's time for me to walk away, I'll know, but as for now, I still enjoy it. I love speculation...that's what I love about the Internet. Somebody writes something, so it becomes the gospel truth and written in stone."

Alright, I know I'm still a newbie myself, (at least to the forum anyway), but in the last few weeks there have been a few newbies who have just been freaking the hell out and it's embarrassing to the rest of us.

You guys act like you've never been the new guy on any kind of team before. Hell, some guys on here give me shit for my posts but I don't bitch about it. I will defend my posts sure, but I don't cry and bitch about how I'm being picked on because I'm new.

It's called earning the respect of your elders and you're not doing yourself any favors by crying about it.

No one is violating your "right to free speech" either. No one is preventing you from making any new posts/threads just because they closed your previous thread down. Get the hell over it and quit acting like toddlers. Pay your dues and earn some respect, instead of disrespecting the rest of us newbies by painting us all in a bad light with your bitching.

Anyway, I just had to get that off my chest for the rest of us newbies who don't mind having to defend our posts and work to earn the respect from you guys who've been around longer.

I don't give a fuck about being new because everyone deserves to be treated the same. Maybe next time you will realize that you should put this in the Discussion forum. Newbie, let me tell you a story about a factory I used to work at. Where the line supervisor decided to tell me all new guys have to by the line breakfast with there first pay check.

So I get my first check and my Supervisor walks up to me and says"You are buying breakfast," I said, "Fuck I'm not because I am human fucking being and not inbred retard. Go buy your own fucking breakfast," They looked shocked and walked away.

So thats what I have to say about being hazed. Go fuck yourself I am human being like you. You are not above me in anyway. This is not a locker or any other place.
