Damn. I remember how optimistic things felt when that took place.

After a great 2011, if I recall this was after TLC, which was overall a fantastic PPV and a great finish to the year, and with all these "new" champions, it seemed like WWE were really ready to push young talent and begin anew.

Fast forward a year... besides Ryback, how many breakout stars were there this year, that really made an impact?

Maybe Antonio Cesaro and Damien Sandow, but nothing like Ryback levels. If it's not all just hype with him anyways.

That picture of all the small champions just reminds me of how utterly boring Daniel Bryan used to be. Most improved wrestler in the WWE in the past year by far.

Nothing else you can complain about there with regards to "young wrestlers not getting pushed". Kofi and Bourne are midcarders, shouldn't be any higher than that, tag titles was fine for them. Ryder won't amount to anything more than his US title reign, it was fun at the time but he doesn't really have the staying power. Rhodes as IC champ is exactly where he should be, he's not good enough to go any higher than that. Don't see what the complaints are about.

Rhodes is great, shouldn't even be considered for a main title any time soon though. He's nowhere near that level yet. Ryback and Ziggler are far ahead of him as far as new title holders go, do we really need three new holders in a short space of time? I'd say Barrett is much closer than him too, and the way Sandow's been going he could well be closer to that level.

Corporate CockSnogger

I'm much more of a fan of them swapping the title round a low number of legit main eventers than them throwing the title on someone cause he's quite good.

Saw the poster on another site and read 2 really good theories of what it means for the Rumble:

1) Orton would win considering he was supposed to last year before the injury and the rumors of Orton/Sheamus possibly replacing Ziggler/Sheamus for Mania. Ziggler won't cash in until after Mania.

2) Cena doesn't win which everyone seems to believe he's going to win just so that Rock-Cena II is guaranteed. If he does then the WWE probably will just repeat having Cena using his spot for the Chamber and not Mania.

Although the poster could be a fake considering the copyright line says 2012.

AND considering the fact that there's an NXT logo next to the SmackDown! one...

Then how do you win a TLC match (discounting the "unique" one last month)? Didn't tonight's TLC match end by grabbing something suspended from the ceiling?

SlickyTrickyDamon
01-08-2013, 02:11 AM
Once they got rid of 2 vs 2 vs 2 TLC in the video games I stopped caring about TLC matches in the video games.

Every TLC except the one at this ppv is grab something. It was only not grab something because they didn't want to put Team Hell No's tag titles and ruin their momentum.

There is no difference between a ladder match and a TLC match except for the ring side area being filled with all of the weapons. Easier access to all of the stuff.

Because it happens all the time? In both pro wrestling and real life, the "bigger guy" doesn't always win and will get his ass kicked by the smaller guy. Ever seen some big jackass in a bar start showing his ass and some smaller guy kicks his shit in? It isn't like CM Punk is going to be Gorilla Press Slamming him all night long either. CM Punk's style lends itself to beating bigger guys except for the GTS which I think is neat when he does it on bigger guys because it suprises you when he picks guys like The Undertaker up.

If we're going by "legitimacy" (within kayfabe), Punk has a much more varied skill set and has demonstrated to be well versed in multiple styles (mainly centering around submissions, grapples and judo-inspired strikes). Rock is more flash in the pan, get shit done with no real center of style. Rock has size and flashy style but Punk has pretty much everything else.

Just because you're 100 pounds bigger and a half a foot taller doesn't mean you're automatically out of the running, the bigger guy could be a clumsy oaf or the smaller guy could have a wider array of strategies.

Plus, you also have to consider ring rust. Rock has had two matches in 8 years. Punk is the current WWE champion. Old time veteran who has been inactive for years vs. the guy who is (supposed to be) at the top of the hill currently.

If we want to talk conundrums, Lesnar should never job to anyone considering how much of a beast he is legit.

Right. And I get that. And I didn't say it wouldn't happen.

Differing styles, I get that. And I'm sure the point of him doing the promo was to sound convincing, obviously. I'm aware that "the bigger guy doesn't always win" I just found the dynamic interesting. If there was a guy who looked just like Rock (with the same athletic acumen) and a guy who looked like Punk (also, same athletic acumen) and you removed the scripted aspect of them being characters, I would have a hard time believing the Punk-looking guy could kick the other guys ass with as much conviction as he displayed. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, because I box and I've knocked out guys almost a foot taller than me and I'm 6'1, but its understandably a little harder to believe.

01-08-2013, 04:36 PM
Again, not really if you take into account Punk's style. It's almost like you're saying "I know what Rock can do, but I'm basing Punk completely on what he looks like". If we're going solely by looks, I'd still say Punk wouldn't be out of the running because he looks like a tough piece of shit vs the pretty-boy muscleman Rock.

The over the top reactions just reminds me of a guy who was in the crowd at a SmackDown house show I went to just after WrestleMania last year.

The main event was Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship and for the majority of the match, this drunk guy who was about four rows from the front kept standing up and yelling "YES! YES! YES!" like bloody murder while forcefully throwing his arms in the air.

Whenever he stood up and started shouting, pretty much all the crowd's attention went away from the match and on to him.

He also kept screaming "DANIEL BRYAN! C'MON!" and trying to get everyone to do a mexican wave and do a Yes! chant. When Sheamus won, he just screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" like he had just been stabbed and began taking some sort of mini tantrum.

Damn. I was hoping there was some sort of difference to a Mexican wave. Like thousands of sombreros in the air and the smell of refried beans filling an arena. While the soothing sounds of a mariachi band drown out the entire crowd. Also, donkeys are vending churros to the masses.

I want this to be a thing.

The argument is about when you enter and exit while someone else is out on the floor. It stems from Main Event where Sheamus won by countout however he left the ring and the count did not restart at one

It's just WWE ignoring rules when it's convenient. If Sheamus did reenter and exit the ring it should have been restarted. If he just threw Ziggler out, waited a bit, went out and got back in, it shouldn't have been restarted.

James Diesel

Really? I always thought that when someone's already being counted out that when the other person exits the ring the count has to start at 1 and then both people have until 10 from the point the 2nd person exits to get back in.

Xero
01-09-2013, 11:27 PM
I'm sure there have been instances where that's happened (especially in spots where they need a lot of time on the outside) but most of the time it's only restarted if both have been on the outside and one breaks the count by re-entering then exiting again.

I love time limits. The more the merrier.

Tna had time limits on their bound for glory series matches last year

I need to read up on the rules again. I hate to say it but my only consistent affirmation of this right now are ALL of the games where the count restarts on all ring exits

James Diesel
01-10-2013, 12:09 AM
A countout (alternatively "count-out" or "count out") happens when a wrestler is out of the ring long enough for the referee to count to ten and thus disqualified. The count is broken and restarted when a wrestler in the ring exits the ring. Playing into this, some wrestlers will "milk" the count by sliding in the ring, and immediately sliding back out. As he was technically inside the ring for a split second before exiting again, it is sufficient to restart the count. This is often referred to by commentators as "breaking the count." Heels often use this tactic in order to buy themselves more time to catch their breath, or to attempt to frustrate their babyface opponents.

Therefore fuck WWE, I'm right, and the Sheamus/Ziggler match should still be in progress. Botched ending. No winner. Ziggler didn't lose.

Watching Michael Elgin/Roderick Strong vs. WGTT from Caged Hostility now. Roderick Strong is hilarious. Him and Elgin start shoving each other mid match so Roddy grabs the mic and says "Michael Elgin, I've told you twice now, and I'll tell you once more, suck my balls"

My debut under a new name ok.....

Can someone explain why ADR could get the job done after jobbing to Santa? I'm pretty sure it was the transition for Dolph, but it makes Sheamus & Show look foolish.

It's weird how ADR got this aggressive side to him and it ruined my idea for a big show vs del rio and Ricardo in a handicap match at the rumble
