For real, why can't Ryback just stay face and feud with Cena for a while?

Cena is incapable of getting a majority babyface reaction against any likeable wrestler.

They cheered for CM Punk AFTER he made those comments to Lawler in the triple threat match at Survivor Series. I don't know know who Cena could get a lot of cheers against at this point.

I think at this point if he had a match against a referee it would go Let's go Cena...Let's go Ref!

It's so weird having a situation where the champion going into WrestleMania is so guaranteed to lose the title. Like... there's been situations where you can be pretty sure who's gonna walk out champion but to have a situation like this... it's just stranger and stranger the more I think about it.

It'd be funny if he retains at mania only to lose it on raw the next night.

I didn't say he's being buried. I'm saying they've wasted the momentum he had going 5 months ago by not having him win a single match on PPV and basically using him while they turn their attention to putting over The Shield.

But you can't say he's looked weak at all. Punk needed to go over him, he's the champ and 'the best in the world'. It was a good first feud for him though, also showed he can be beaten (even if he was screwed both times). He shouldn't be main eventing WM, so I had no problem with him not winning the rumble, but he was final 2 FFS. And he looked strong against the shield. I just don't see how you think they're not booking him well. Not everyone can win all the time, his momentum is still there, if anything his frustration over not winning is keeping it all rolling, and when he snaps he's going to go nuts. The crowd are still begins him, and they're building this story nicely.

Fuck out of here. He got pinned in a 6 man tag at EC, big deal.
He was the last one eliminated by John Cena at the Royal Rumble, Oh noooo.
He lost a 6 Man Tag TLC where he was the only member of his team even moving when The Shield (who are the most dominant trio we've seen in a while) got the pin.
I don't remember how he lost at Survivor Series, but it was a triple threat involving the two biggest names in the WWE, what'd you expect?
And at Hell In A Cell he was fast counted and low blowed by the ref. Real big string of jobs right there.

but this happened for a reason. It's not like they painted themselves into a corner without noticing or that it happened by accident and Ryback is suffering from it, it's their doing. If Ryback had turned out to be what they hoped him to be aka Goldberg, then he'd never be in the spot he's in now or they'd just keep having him kill people in hope that he "really catches on"/blows up. But it looks like they're going in a different direction/with a different approach.

That's true.

There's a big difference though between "can't win all the time" and using everyone to put everyone else over though. That kinda leaves everyone in a muddled mess and creates the mad scramble to build stars that WWE has been in lately because everyone's even.

Vince knew how to make a star. If he was as capable of making one as you seem to think, John Cena could suffer a career ending injury tomorrow and the company would flow along just fine. Because they'd have built a star over the years that can fill in instantly and not leave them begging for the part-time guys to come work some more dates to fill in for the lack of star power.

There is. Not having two main eventers constantly face off every week on Raw... compelling storylines that don't revolve around random tag matches to close out every show...

There are definitely ways to keep your top guys from being put in situations where one has to lose weekly.

And yes, a squash match or two scattered in there isn't the worst thing in the world.

I have never had that gripe, feel free to do a forum search. But he won, a lot. And people got tired of him... By the time he lost nobody thought HOLY FUCKING SHIT, it was more THANK FUCKING CHRIST.

What I'm getting at is, I can see you're passionate about Ryback, but every scenario you're throwing forward has pretty much been done by someone else. Will he be a big name in the future, quite possibly. But not being able to see the big picture that there are other people in the company who have the top spots and have worked their asses off for years to be there is pretty narrow minded. The Shield are being put over now, but the faces will get theirs in the end. It's wrestling 101. It's easier for a face to lose and regain credibility than for a group to keep losing and keep it.

Austin/HHH/Rock all started off feuding together, and when it was their time they blew through the roof. Ryback not winning at PPV's now and having people (The Shield) built to look strong against him now can only mean good things for him when it's his time to destroy them when they're on top.

the company would flow along just fine with I'd guess Orton slotting into the de-facto marquee guy and Punk, Jericho and all of the other top-line talent until the next "once in a generation" guy comes along. Guys like John Cena don't come along every day and no matter how hard you try and make somebody, it's still a somewhat two-way street. There is still plenty of bankable talent available to them, most of it made by them.

How to make a wrestling star 101 is the easiest thing ever: have a guy that beats everybody. If he has "it", the rest will pretty much take care of itself. If not, he will falter or it will become apparent that that's not the way to go with him. This is where Ryback currently stands. He looks like a killer for sure. He just doesn't seem to have that gear change or create that anticipation that makes the roof come off ala Goldberg. And for somebody you're trying to push as a big time babyface, that's a problem.

There is. Not having two main eventers constantly face off every week on Raw... compelling storylines that don't revolve around random tag matches to close out every show...

Yes. And as I said, it's their own doing. I personally would love to see squash matches on RAW. But seeing Cena/Sheamus vs. Big Show/Punk etc is "the norm" now, you can't suddenly start booking Kofi Kingston vs. Cody Rhodes as your RAW main event.

This is pretty much spot on. I think it's also where a lot of fans these days struggle with how the business is. It's easy to compare Ryback to Goldberg (not saying you are, just in general), but it was a different time and crowd back then. If Goldberg never existed and debuted today, would he get the same reactions? Or would he be where Ryback is right now.

Looking back to how stars were built and how easy they got over back then is different to now.

You could main event Raw with something like Kofi vs Cody if the last segment is a non-match segment of some sort. If not, it doesn't always have to be main eventer vs main eventer. The first Sheamus vs Sandow match a few weeks after Raw went to 3 hours permanently was a perfect TV match for me. You had a main eventer and an up and coming midcard guy that you, presumably wanna make a star. Sandow looked amazing, Sheamus came out with the win in a good, long match. Sheamus justified why he's a main event star with the good win and Sandow justified why he's not there yet but he can break out at any moment.

The roster is stacked enough to where you can use Raw main events to position guys on the card. And Raw has been ending with in-ring segments a lot anyway so it's not like you're forced to have the main event match as the closer. You can let a couple up and comers get the spot once in a while.

It has something to do with people wanting to see Punk get killed. Not any guy is gonna come in months after his debut though and get the kind of reaction Ryback did though. It definitely takes a guy that people wanna get behind. And the fact that he was genuinely being booked as a scary as fuck monster, and he played the part well, makes him the perfect guy for the crowd to get behind anytime they wanna see a heel get the shit kicked out of them.

It's actually something Cena kinda lacks and I think part of the reason an older crowd can't get behind him. Cena's more the "heart and determination" type. Not exactly the kinda guy you watch and say "Oh shit, this guy I hate is gonna fucking die."

For sure. But that's the look and the push coming into play. Any guy that looks like Ryback and gets even half of the push he got is going to get a strong reaction initially, that's just how wrestling works, looking the part is the biggest part of the battle. It's what comes after that separates the Batista's from the Chris Masters. No idea which way Ryback will fall atm. But either way he's going to get a bunch of chances to do so.

They could do the Punk situation where Punk "left" as champion only for the next night to declare a new tournament to find the next champion.

WWE could easily start that the following week the Rock is gone although it does require them to tell the audience Rock is leaving which could impact some of the ratings (mainly those who just want to see him).

I say this respectfully, and not in an antagonizing way at all.

But foresight is not really one of your strong suits based off of your posts.

lol. What foresight is needed here? He's taking at the very least a couple months off after WrestleMania... Do you really think there's any chance they'd just forget about the WWE title for months?

P.S. You definitely shouldn't antagonize when talking about foresight. I'd just bring back that "You're dense if you don't think Triple H is gonna beat Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam" quote. ;)

#1-norm-fan
02-22-2013, 05:29 PM
That consensus would apply to marks more than anyone else.

No it wouldn't. If he won at WrestleMania and then tried to pull a Punk and leave the company with the title storyline-wise, it would definitely come off as him saying "fuck you" to everyone and being heel-ish. Think about it.

You're definitely going too far with this "anytime anything that could be construed as negative is said about The Rock, I'm gonna throw out a 'mark'" thing. lol That wasn't even a negative thing. It's just what his character would come off as if they booked a storyline like that.

Yeah, I literally just said I wasn't antagonizing or being disrespectful, but if I chose to, I only have LITERALLY one quote about Brock going over.

You fuss 2 minutes after every pay-per-view is over, complaining about the booking with no FORESIGHT involved. I could literally quote you dozens of times.

I'm not coming at you or anything. I'm just saying, based off of your posts, foresight is not one of your strong suits. If it was, you wouldn't get on here after every PPV, spewing "omg i can't believe they did this" and "this guy looks weak now."

In that case, I don't know what that has to do with me saying I can't see any way Rock could keep the belt while he's not with the company for half the year. Is there some foresight you think I'm missing?

Shadrick

I said it would apply to marks more than anyone else...which is accurate...

When I read quotes that can be summed up by "a part timer shouldn't have the belt rah rah rah" especially 5 minutes after it happened, it just screams "mark" to me. It just so happens that that part timer is The Rock.

Shadrick

I mean, I just want to be entertained ultimately. But half the time, I do understand your gripes, even though I may not be as quick to jump, because the E has proven their track record time and time again, especially when it comes to decent long-term booking.

Case in point, with Cena. I thought this losing streak he was on would mean something, long term. Hell, I was optimistic that his loss to The Rock at Mania would mean something long term, and while it still might (as in, he loses again and it does SOMETHING to his character), it doesn't really seem like long-term, they had a plan for it.

#1-norm-fan
02-22-2013, 06:22 PM
I started to write a long response to that. Then I contained myself. I've actually enjoyed how things are going more in recent weeks in the big picture. I'll save my rants on the booking for when things go to shit and guys debut with cryptic videos and silent promos and then say "trolled ya!" and move on like nothing happened again. :shifty:

From the front page and dirtsheets:

WWE has extended an invitation to talk show host and political commentator, Glenn Beck to appear live this Monday on Raw, in response to a segment that aired on TheBlaze TV yesterday. In the segment, Beck references WWE as “stupid wrestling people,” when criticizing a recent WWE storyline involving WWE characters Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio®, Jack Swagger® and Zeb Colter®. WWE is giving Beck the opportunity to address our 14 million weekly viewers and our global fan base, as he believes we are offending our “conservative” fans with this storyline.

Jack Swagger was scheduled to win the World Heavyweight Title from Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania 29. WWE’s creative team has now met several times this week to discuss how to deal with Swagger’s DUI and drug arrest on Tuesday.

If he is pulled from WrestleMania, he will not only lose a big payday (upwards of $250,000) but Dolph Ziggler will likely get the title shot.

So far only Clark has said it was meant to happen while most have either hinted it was possible or as just an option.

John Laurinaitis returned at Thursday night’s WWE live event from Qatar.
Got involved in the Cena vs Ziggler & Big E and the McGillicutty vs Tensai matches.

Sheamus posted the following to Twitter yesterday, showing off what the WWE Title may look like under his future reign:

Here’s the only improvement I’d make to the new #WWE Championship belt. Well, #StPatricksDay’s a coming ;) pic.twitter.com/HLTDXgSBEP

Darren Young injured his knee and could be out until October.

A TNA Video Game Deal?

One of the reasons that TNA executives were in California this week was because they are looking for a new video game deal. Dixie Carter and Jason Hervey met with Activision earlier this week.

Wow. That's a pretty shitty list to be honest. Two weren't even from matches, Warrior's is the exact same entrance he does every time and Edge's is just a little more pyro. The other six I won't dispute, because they feel like regular WWE "let's rush a list" listings.

I'd replace Austin's with his Mania 13 entrance, with the "Austin 3:16" shattering. But maybe they thought "Nope, too close to Hunter's".

Edge I'd probably replace with King of Kings.

Warrior I'd replace with the Mania 1 entrance for Hogan.

Savage I'd replace with Miz's entrance or another one of Cena's entrances, probably the car one.

Remember that this is going by WWE logic. My own list (which I'll probably compile later) would probably only have Shawn's zipline and maybe Taker's entrance from that video.

WWE.com Presents....

The 20 coolest tattoos in WWE history

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/list/intro/2013/02/20130222_Light_CoolestWWETattoos_HOMEPAGE.jpg

A Superstar's signature style isn't always limited to his entrance music, ring gear and arsenal of maneuvers. In many cases, this style extends beyond the material and is woven into the Superstar's very physical makeup — permanently.

Tattoos have given WWE competitors a one-of-a-kind opportunity to express themselves with indelible works of art imprinted directly on their skin. These pieces can often add a distinct, instantly recognizable element to their identity in the ring, and even become their intimidating calling card.

With that in mind, WWE.com tackled the task of ranking the top 20 coolest examples of Superstar ink in WWE history. From captivating full sleeves to eye-popping back designs, these 20 tattoos have left an unmistakable mark on the WWE Universe with their originality and visual appeal.

#20

Hornswoggle
Tattoo: Muppet characters
Location: Various parts of body

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_hornswoggle.jpg

Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, BunsenandBeaker, the list goes on …

It's hard to separate one of Hornswoggle's many Muppet tattoos from the larger whole, but they're all pretty impressive and fitting tributes to Jim Henson's fuzzy, lovable gang. Hornswoggle has spent hours upon hours under the needle at The Body Shop in Appleton, Wisc., to honor the Muppets with inked portraits, all of which include colorful details.

"My love of the Muppets really started when I was young and first saw 'Muppet Babies' and then a show called 'Muppets Tonight,' " Hornswoggle told WWE.com when he added Gonzo to his tat collection in 2011.

The mischievous grappler has admitted he's spent "thousands of dollars" on Muppet merchandise over the years in addition to his growing list of Muppet tattoo tributes. Now that's dedication.

#19

Sean O'Haire
Tattoo: Spider webs & flames
Location: Both wrists/forearms

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_sean_ohaire.jpg

When Sean O'Haire took a darker, more sinister turn as an in-ring competitor, his choice of ink soon followed suit.

O'Haire intense devil's advocate persona during his time in WWE included an obsession with spiders — a trait that manifested itself in his entrance video as well as the matching tattoos on both of his wrists. The pair of tats included black flames along with red and blue spider webs, adding another layer of menacing depth as O'Haire preached to members of the WWE Universe to break the law and embrace their vices. Who in their right mind would dare say no to a guy with fire and spiders coming out of his wrists?

#18

Umaga
Tattoo: Tribal design
Location: Right arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_umaga.jpg

We know what you're thinking: What about that crazy tattoo that was on his face?

Believe it or not, Umaga's face was actually painted, not permanently inked. The tribal design on his right arm, however, was definitely real and served as a formidable complement to The Samoan Bulldozer's presence every time the rampant drums of his entrance music sounded.

Also worth mentioning: The ring-wrecking warrior had a tattoo on his right forearm in honor of his cousin Yokozuna (both were members of the legendary Anoa'i family), further demonstrating Umaga's connection to his Samoan roots. This particular tattoo was partially obscured since it was on the same arm that was taped up for his feared Samoan Spike finishing move.

#17

Mideon
Tattoo: Doc Holliday portrait
Location: Left arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_mideon.jpg

Mideon, best known for his deranged role in Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness, has numerous pieces of ink on both arms as well as an image of an eyeball tattooed on the back of his head. But the one that stands out for its coolness factor is the portrait of Doc Holliday on his left arm. The notorious gunslinger of the American Old West left behind a trail of legendary stories — both factual and exaggerated — and earned a reputation as one bad dude you didn't want to mess with.

Supposed photos of Doc Holliday vary wildly, leading to skepticism over which portrait is the correct interpretation of Wyatt Earp's good friend, but that doesn't take away from Mideon's skin art.

#16

Santino Marella
Tattoo: Conan the Barbarian
Location: Chest

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_santino_marella.jpg

Judging by his comedic antics alone, you wouldn't expect Santino Marella has such deep and serious ink etched across various parts of his skin. But as an in-ring competitor, Marella is certainly fierce, just like his tattoos. Santino's tats include a dragon on his forearm, a winged figure on his bicep and a giant lion on his back. The one that comes across as the most visually appealing and all-around awesome, though, is the image of Conan the Barbarian perched on the left side of his chest.

"[Conan the Barbarian] was born a peasant in a common village and became king by his own hand," Santino explained to WWE.com in 2007. "I, too, was born into a simple family and now I'm a WWE Superstar on a journey to become king of my domain."

#15

Rey Mysterio
Tattoo: Pair of wings
Location: Chest

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_rey_mysterio.jpg

Rey Mysterio has mastered the art of aerial maneuvers and getting tattoos that hold meaning for the masked Superstar. From a prayer to Jesus that a WWE fan gave him to the names of his daughter and son, Aalyah and Dominik, The Human Highlight Reel has filled his skin with ink that represents his enduring ties to family, religion and tradition.

Perhaps the piece that most accurately displays his identity as a Superstar is the set of wings emblazoned on his chest. The matching tattoos are designed in the same vein as his signature luchador mask and also resemble the intricate groove marks of the Aztec calendar, further showing Mysterio's connection to his Mexican heritage.

#14

Goldberg
Tattoo: Tribal design
Location: Left arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_goldberg.jpg

Tribal tattoos in the U.S. may have developed a bit of a reputation for being unoriginal and cliché, but when Goldberg first charged onto the sports-entertainment scene in the late '90s, his tribal ink was the perfect representation of his brute strength and ferocious attitude.

The former World Heavyweight Champion's simple yet distinct tribal design was more than a tattoo on his left arm — it became his trademark insignia, a frightening symbol that warned opponents that the one and only Goldberg was coming for them. Rarely did you ever see Goldberg photographed without the tattoo visible, and for good reason.

#13

Edge
Tattoo: Great wave
Location: Left arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_edge.jpg

While it's not the most recognizable of his tattoos, the ink on Edge's left arm has the greatest artistic appeal of the bunch, and one that stands out from many other Superstar tattoos. The image of the big wave appears to be directly inspired by "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," a famous woodblock print by the Japanese artist Hokusai. The artwork depicts a massive wave threatening boats near the Japanese prefecture of Kanagawa, with Mount Fuji visible in the background of the stormy sea.

"For me, body art is all about expression," Edge told WWE.com in a 2007 interview. "It's a lifestyle and can serve as a reminder that when my career is done, I'll have a story to tell on my body. And it will be my story of my life on my body."

#12

Wade Barrett
Tattoo: Red rose & song lyrics
Location: Right arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_wade_barrett.jpg

Wade Barrett has large-scale, standout tattoos on both of his arms, but it's the classic red rose intertwined with song lyrics that is more visually impressive in its composition and design.

The rose tattoo, which very much has an old-school feel, is intertwined with a banner reading "boredom, culture, alienation & despair," which is a line from the Manic Street Preachers' 1992 single "Little Baby Nothing."

The Welsh trio is one of Barrett's favorite rock bands, something that the group has become fully aware of. James Dean Bradfield of the Preachers recently offered to record Barrett's future entrance theme, to which the British Superstar responded on Twitter: "Mind: Blown."

#11

Kizarny
Tattoo: Snake with jester head
Location: Right arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_kizarny.jpg

Kizarny's time in WWE was short-lived, but the sideshow performer still likely caused quite a few nightmares with his bizarre vignettes featuring messages delivered exclusively in carny speak. The strange Superstar also had a tattoo that matched his persona to a tee: a twisting snake with a jester's skeletal head, located on his right arm.

The kaleidoscope of colors and unique feel to this twisted tattoo is what earns "The Warlord of Weird" a spot among the top 20 coolest WWE tats.

#10

Bam Bam Bigelow
Tattoo: Flames
Location: Scalp

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_bam_bam_bigelow.jpg

It takes a certain type of man to be able to get any kind of head or face tattoo and not look ridiculous for it. On the flip side, just try telling "Iron" Mike Tyson that the tat around his left eye looks stupid. For Bam Bam Bigelow, not only did his scalp tattoo make him appear even meaner and more aggressive, but it's also impossible to envision The Beast from the East without it.

Standing 6-foot-4 and 400 pounds, Bam Bam had a flame motif that resonated throughout his ring gear and across the top of his head. The tattoo of flames, which reportedly cost him a whopping $4,500 to get done, was a staple of Bigelow's very being and arguably the most memorable ink in WWE history.

#9

Lita
Tattoo: Three-eyed demon
Location: Right arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_lita.jpg

Lita is remembered for being one of the most accomplished Divas in WWE history — and also one of the most devious ones. It's fitting, then, that her sinister side is on display with a three-eyed demon tattoo on her right arm.

Easily the most noticeable of Lita's tats, the demon appears somewhat reminiscent of the Oni, a brooding creature from Japanese folklore. The four-time Women's Champion decided to get the colorful tattoo as a souvenir while on a trip to Amsterdam because she was a fan of the artist's work.

#8

Batista
Tattoo: Chinese dragon
Location: Back

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_batista.jpg

Batista's moniker in the ring was The Animal. His defining piece of skin art, however, is a fire-breathing dragon that nearly spans the length of his entire back. The huge Chinese dragon is very impressive not only for its scope, but also for its powerful line work across the creature's many scales.

The tattoo also does a great job of working with the natural contours of Batista's body by accentuating his hulking trapezius muscles, adding another level of intimidation for the already fearsome six-time World Champion.

#7

Chris Jericho
Tattoo: Iron Maiden's "Eddie" & Lady Justice
Location: Both wrists/forearms

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_chris_jericho.jpg

Chris Jericho's transition from a clean-cut bad boy to a full-blown Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla has been an interesting ride, complete with several tattoos to round out the fresh image. Jericho, frontman of the heavy metal band Fozzy, has a pair of visually striking tats of a chain-biting mummy and Lady Justice running up his wrists and forearms. If the mummy looks familiar, that's because it's actually "Eddie," Iron Maiden's ominous mascot which appears on every one of the heavy metal group's album covers. And this tatted version of Lady Justice mirrors the cover art for Metallica's album "...And Justice for All."

Another Jericho tattoo worth noting is the winged skull-and-bones emblem on his left arm, a recent addition inspired by the album cover art for Fozzy's latest release, "Sin and Bones."

Please note: The photos above show Jericho's tattoos in an unfinished stage at the time they were taken. To see the completed version of Jericho's "Eddie" ink, click here (http://25.media.tumblr.com/122a02b5cfbb5a7d7724081444e5ab65/tumblr_mhtomx93na1rw5ipmo1_1280.png).

#6

Brock Lesnar
Tattoo: Demon skull
Location: Back

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_brock_lesnar.jpg

On a scare meter of 1-10, Brock Lesnar's back tattoo notches a 10 and then some. In fact, it's arguably the most wicked-looking piece of ink in WWE history. Brock's back tattoo includes a monstrous demon skull with a sword going right through it, and if that wasn't menacing enough, there are two armless hands grasping ice picks on each side of the demon skull. Yeah, it's pretty much evil incarnate.

Lesnar also has another large piece — a sword which spans the entire middle of his torso — but it's the back tattoo that has become Brock's insignia on merchandise and the figure that strikes fear into the hearts of all the behemoth's unfortunate opponents.

Randy Orton
Tattoo: Tribal design
Location: Back and shoulders

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_randy_orton.jpg

One of the points of emphasis for a strong tattoo is how well the lines follow the natural contours of the body. Randy Orton's tribal design definitely accomplishes this by coiling around The Viper's neck, shoulders and upper back. The tattoo also complements Orton's signature full sleeves, which are strewn with various skulls down his arms.

Orton, who's had the back piece since his days training in Ohio Valley Wrestling, also makes sure to get his tats touched up once a year — a process that takes about six hours — to prevent any unwanted fading.

The poster for Backlash 2009 really captured the intimidating feel of The Viper's design, with Orton's tat appearing to blend in with the tangled tree branches in the dark shadows. But the tattoo regularly intimidates Orton's foes on its own accord — it's the last thing they see before they get RKO'd.

#4

CM Punk
Tattoo: Skull & snake
Location: Chest

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_cm_punk.jpg

To pick only one of CM Punk's pieces to showcase might be an exercise in futility. Practically every inch of The Best in the World's upper body is covered with tattoos, each with its own unique story worth telling. And while Punk's word tattoos such as "drug free" and "straight edge" seemingly attract the most attention due to his image, it's the dangerous combo of skull and snake across his chest that's immediately eye-catching on first glance, partially because of how fresh that ink still is.

When asked for his take on getting tattoos, The Straight Edge Superstar once told WWE.com: "Tattoos are like wearing your heart on your sleeve. It's about showing who you are on the inside by showing it on the outside. … Each tattoo you get should have some deep, deep meaning."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Punk.

#3

Jeff Hardy
Tattoo: Full sleeve of roots
Location: Right arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_jeff_hardy.jpg

Jeff Hardy once said he regards his tattoos as his "artistic impulses." His impulse led him in the right direction with the visually stunning roots that weave from his neck all the way down to his right hand.

"The roots are my way of connecting with the earth: The earth's roots carry water like a human's veins carry blood," Hardy explained to WWE.com in 2007. "I thought it'd be something different besides tribal; you know, a lot of guys have tribal [bands]."

From his colorful face paint to his innovative maneuvers in the ring, The Charismatic Enigma has always found a way to separate himself from the pack with his artistic style. Hardy's interwoven roots tattoo is further evidence of that style with its fascinating, one-of-a-kind look.

#2

The Undertaker
Tattoo: Full sleeve of demons & skulls
Location: Right arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_the_undertaker.jpg

Opponents who take one glance at the demonic ink that covers The Undertaker's entire right arm probably feel like they're stepping one foot into the underworld. While The Deadman's left arm follows a mystical theme, his right arm features tattoos with a variety of frightening demons and skulls.

The most recognizable and spellbinding piece on Undertaker's right sleeve is the "Thinking Demon," which was done by famous tattoo artist Paul Booth of Last Rites Tattoo Theatre. With a waiting list that runs thousands deep and regular clientele that includes band members from Slayer, Slipknot, Pantera and The Phenom himself, Booth has mastered the art of macabre tattoos with impeccable shading for more than 20 years.

Just as the flame tattoo was Bam Bam Bigelow's staple, we couldn't imagine The Undertaker without his full sleeves of infernal ink. They are indispensable parts of The Phenom.

#1

The Rock
Tattoo: Polynesian tribal half-sleeve
Location: Left shoulder and arm

http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/standard_list/public/t25/image/2013/02/coolest_tattoos_642_the_rock.jpg

In 2003, The Rock took a trip to Hawaii to get inked by famous Tahitian tattoo artist Po'oino Yrondi. Three emotional 20-hour sessions later and The Great One now had the most electrifying tattoo in sports-entertainment sprawled across his left shoulder and upper arm.

The Rock's tribal design holds a great deal of meaning, with numerous symbols that represent the WWE Champion's struggle, success, spiritual guides and loyalty to his family. The custom tattoo was remarkably composed freehand, with the artist working directly on Rock's skin without a stencil or transfer.

In the documentary "Once in a Lifetime: The Rock vs. John Cena," The Brahma Bull broke down exactly what the intricate skin art means to him. "As detailed and elaborate as this entire tattoo is that I'm very, very proud of, it all comes down to three things: my family, protecting my family and having a very aggressive warrior spirit that you can't hold down. I will continue to fight and overcome."

By telling his life story through ink, The Rock captured his very essence in what should be recognized as the coolest tattoo in WWE history.

Some stuff from the dirtsheets:

The big talk backstage at Tuesday night’s WWE Smackdown tapings is what some of the wrestlers who were at RAW are describing to us as a “total shoot” in which Vince McMahon stormed out of the arena at the conclusion of RAW because of the piledriver spot John Cena and CM Punk did in their match last night.

It is being said that at one point, Arn Anderson (who was the producer of the match) was concerned about losing his job. John Cena apparently smoothed things over with Vince, who was already in his limo leaving by the time Cena came back into the Gorilla position after the match.

While the piledriver aired on WWE’s own YouTube channel, it is not known how many were aware of Vince’s anger over the spot, which we have been told is being described as something that got “lost in the translation.”

Undertaker vs. CM Punk was confirmed for Wrestlemania about a week ago and WWE Creative is now scrambling to fast-track the match's storyline. They started phase one with Punk's promo on Monday referring to himself as an "icon" above Superstars and God.

One concern within some facets of creative is that with Punk having lost two PPVs in a row and again to Cena, that a loss to Undertaker at Wrestlemania could really damage one of the two names who show they can draw on the road currently, the other being John Cena.

Another big one involved Jericho confirming Triple H is mostly in charge of the WWE now with Triple H and not Vince being the one to who made the deal for his recent run. Vince still has final say on anything although he's only in direct control over a few wrestlers and storylines now (ex. anything Cena or non-Shield Ryback related).

Upon further inspection, it turns out I was correct and it was a very young Paul and Katie Lea Burchill. It was apparently a celebrity special featuring guys from FWA. Doug Williams, James Tighe, and Sweet Saraya were the other members of the team.
