His GFW Tag Team Champions did make it into the Cruiserweight Classic. I'm hoping they open up the Dusty Rhodes Classic to other promotions if they do it again. Dusty wass involved in a lot of different promotions throughout his career so it would be fitting. Instead of representing a country the team would represent a their promotion. Would love to see The Addiction get a spot, AJ put them over on his Stone Cold Podcast too.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Bray Wyatt actually does make sense after SummerSlam. Dolph loses, Bray shows up and tries to get into his head about not having what it takes to win the big one. Basically the Daniel Bryan/Bray Wyatt story with a guy that isn't sky-rocketing past it.

That would leave someone to mock Randy Orton about losing to Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles to challenge Dean Ambrose -- or a Triple Threat program between Ambrose, Orton & Styles. The Triple Threat probably makes the most sense. You'll likely have Baron Corbin going after Apollo Crews and the IC Title. The Miz and Kalisto could be left to tango in the mid-card. American Alpha and The Usos to crown new Tag Team Champions. Becky Lynch and Natalya will do their best to bring the other women on SmackDown up. Samoa Joe will likely be called up. Maybe they do Cena vs. Joe at Backlash to get it out of the way and write Cena off.

Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Championship
Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles

Dolph Ziggler vs. Bray Wyatt

John Cena vs. Samoa Joe

WWE Doubles Championship of the Galaxy
The Usos vs. American Alpha

Intercontinental Championship
The Miz (c) vs. Kalisto

Baron Corbin vs. Apollo Crews

Six-Woman Tag Team Elimination Match
Becky Lynch, Naomi & Carmella vs. Natalya, Alexa Bliss & Eva Marie

Goodbye Alberto Match
Alberto Del Rio vs. Heath Slater

I changed my mind and had Miz keeping the IC Title past SummerSlam and Corbin and Crews fighting elsewhere because the IC Title is basically an anchor anyway.

Mr. Nerfect
08-13-2016, 10:44 PM
I'm actually looking forward to the brand split PPVs more than the big collective ones. The company is going to need to create mid-card storylines with some sort of direction in order to fluff them out. The wrestling will be fresh and unique in many cases. I don't expect them to be "blow-away," but I do expect them to be solid and interesting shows.

Steel Cage Match for the Women's Championship
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte

Six-Man Tag Team Match
Seth Rollins, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Finn Balor, Kofi Kingston & Big E

Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Rusev vs. Cesaro

Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens

Cruiserweight Championship
Sami Zayn vs. Neville

Sheamus vs. Darren Young

Jinder Mahal vs. Sin Cara

You Will Behave Paige Match
Nia Jax vs. Paige

Curtis Axel vs. Zack Sabre, Jr.

Enzo & Big Cass vs. The Shining Stars

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got a bit lazy towards the end there, Enzo & Cass could do something "bigger," but they're also a good warm-up act and there would be a lot going on near the top of this show. Epico y Primo are good workers who can beat on Enzo for a bit.

Axel vs. Zack Sabre, Jr. is just a way to get Sabre out there with a guy that can put over his holds and the frustration of not being able to keep up with him well. Some of these cruiserweights need to beat heavyweights to prove that they belong.

Paige does her best to make Nia Jax look tremendous.

Jinder Mahal is an angry Indian guy beating up a Mexican that people are supposed to like. These guys go way back to developmental together and could probably do good work in order to put Mahal over.

Sheamus vs. Darren Young could be your typical bully/underdog program. I wouldn't be in a rush to put Young over though. Maybe Sheamus gets Young in a Texas Cloverleaf and Backlund throws in the towel or something?

Zayn and Neville try to steal the show to crown a new Cruiserweight Champion. Zayn would probably be better off without the title whereas Neville would have a harder time getting over without it, but at some point you need to give something to Zayn. Maybe Neville wins it first and then Zayn gets it next?

Owens and Jericho have a spat after their loss to Enzo & Cass at SummerSlam and it turns out that they don't have each other's backs. This would deliver both in the ring and on the mic and would be one of the more heavily promoted matches. Owens can win, but there's still part of me that wants to see Jericho enlist The Dudleys as his pissed off veteran allies. That can happen on RAW though.

Reigns wins the US Title at SummerSlam, Rusev wants it back, Cesaro beats Sheamus and earns a shot and is sick of being glossed over. I imagine they'd work well together and deliver a pretty damn good match actually. They probably wouldn't be ready to take the US belt off Reigns if they just put it on him.

Rollins enlists the services of The Club to help him win the Universal Title at SummerSlam. The Demon has been betrayed. Gallows & Anderson also take the WWE Tag Team Titles off The New Day at SummerSlam. "The Champions of the Universe" find themselves on the defensive from Balor & The New Day, but numbers dictate Xavier Woods needs to sit out of their arranged main event. Rollins uses this opportunity to try and get into Woods' head -- "You're a smart man, Xavier. You know I'm the guy to be beside." They seem to like playing up conflicted Xavier. Woods re-affirms his babyface status at the PPV and helps the good guys win and earn title rematches.

Sasha Banks and Charlotte headline the show in a blow-off to their Women's Championship feud. Bayley helps fend off Dana Brooke at SummerSlam, but the numbers are neutralized now. I've got this as a Cage Match, but it could be a Ladder Match or even just a straight-out match between the two. Whatever. Give them the final match slot of the night.

Dolph Ziggler winning the WWE World Championship for the first time would be more effective if he were to win it as a heel. Considering how strong Dean's current reign as champion has been, it would be counter productive to have him drop ze belt to Dolphin, who's still becoming acclimated to the main event scene. I am in favor of a longer storyline.

Mr. Nerfect
08-14-2016, 04:50 AM
I'm in favor of the long root. I do imagine them telling a story with Ziggler where he loses then moves into the Wyatt storyline as Ambrose dances with Styles and Orton for a few months.

Since the WWE can seemingly implant personalities into people now, I'd like to see Shelton Benjamin show up on WWE television even though he's injured. His catchphrase is "Did somebody say...Shelton Benjamin?" even when no one has said anything like that. He'd basically play a Randy Orton RNN type gimmick, where he interrupts Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan's private discussions to let them know how he is doing. He puts himself over as a better athlete than Shane McMahon and a better wrestler than Daniel Bryan. He also shows up in random backstage interviews. His entrance music is him asking "Did somebody say...Shelton Benjamin?" as his titantron is him starring into the camera, dreamily, before it breaks into a choir intro of "Ain't No Stoppin' Me Now" that breaks down into a new theme for him.

It will get over. Trust me.

That and Mr. Shibata in his suit standing behind The Miz. That is what SmackDown needs.

That's not weird at all considering Summerslam is the 2nd biggest WWE show and probably 2nd biggest show in all of wrestling, and with WWE's HUGE roster, its no surprise that its 6 hours.

Even Best In The Yard 2, the biggest show in backyard was 4 and a half hours and there were a lot less superstars to work with.

I had an idea last night that Daniel Bryan traded Becky Lynch and Carmella to RAW in order to receive Sasha Banks and the Women's Title after SummerSlam. The idea was that Bryan and Foley had a talk, the WWE World Title is on SmackDown, so it'd make sense for the Women's Title modeled on it to be there too. Foley is reluctant to make the trade, but Bryan plays up Foley's woman-loving side by pointing out that Sasha always wanted to be on SmackDown, and he gets two women for one. Foley agrees and Stephanie chastises him for losing the belt, but he says "No matter -- we'll create a Universal Women's Title!"

Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Paige and Carmella were the stars of that tournament, with the finals coming down to Charlotte and Becky; but Daniel Bryan pulled a blind one over Foley and announced that Bayley had signed with SmackDown as well.

SummerSlam should be as long as they need. No longer though. They've got a few things cooking that they haven't confirmed. Cesaro vs. Sheamus might now get room on the main card, as might Becky Lynch vs. Eva Marie. But the moment they start scrambling for stuff to fill this time, the moment it is all going to fall apart.

Counting NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 2, next week is going to be insane in the amount of WWE stuff getting shown.

6 hours of Summerslam
3 hours of RAW
2 hours of Smackdown
1 hour of NXT
1 hour of CWC
2 hours of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II
Plus any pre- and post-show stuff for all the non-SS events.

Watching snippets of RAW, I couldn't help but wonder if there's a possibility that Gallows & Anderson DON'T win the Tag Titles at SummerSlam, and rather New Day retain before dropping them to Jeri-KO. I'm getting that same vibe from Jericho now that I got in 2008 where they basically couldn't keep gold off him. Kevin Owens is also a bright spot when he is allowed to go out on his own. To be perfectly honest, putting the belts on Gallows & Anderson would feel a bit like autopilot right now. I imagine that they'll get involved in the main event and still be a major focus of the shows, but I just imagine it being without the belts.

Truer words likely don’t exist to describe the situation surround World Wrestling Entertainment megastar Daniel Bryan and professional wrestling.

Bryan, the 35-year-old former WWE World Heavyweight champion, was forced to retire earlier this year at the height of his success and fame due to neck and head injuries.

The man who took the wrestling world by storm with his wildly popular “Yes” movement, delivered one of the most passionate, articulate and heartfelt retirement speeches inside the ring, fighting back tears, leaving behind the only world he’d ever known professionally.

The wrestling world was stunned. It wasn’t ready for life without the likable Bryan, whose real name is Bryan Danielson.

Neither was he, said Bryan during a telephone call to promote SummerSlam in Brooklyn, NY, this weekend,.

“I had to go out to Florida (to shoot Total Divas) and we're in John Cena's house for four weeks or whatever and there's cameras just on you all the time,” Bryan said, adding that it was there that the toll that the stress and uncertainty around his livelihood came boiling to the surface.

“I just had this horrible mental breakdown,” he said. A lifelong outdoorsman and environmentalist, Bryan did what came most natural to him, he found nature to help him cope with his extreme sadness.

“That's what I needed. I needed to get away from all of that and just get out to be by some trees,” Bryan said, emotion bubbling to the surface. “It's hard for me. I don't do really well in cities, which is crazy given that we're flying in and out of these major cities every week. Brie (Bella, his wife) describes it as anxiety. And she would be accurate. I get this anxiety in cities and places like that. When you grow up in kind of a small town and when you grow up around a lot of green and trees and nature and that sort of thing, sometimes I think it's a little mentally disconcerting to be around this concrete."

Even now, six months after pouring his heart out in front of thousands of fans and to millions more watching live, Bryan admits he hasn’t come to terms with the end of his career.

"It's interesting because I guess the real answer is no, but it's weird,” Bryan said when asked if he’s come to terms with how things have unfolded. “I don't necessarily agree that there's something wrong with me, right. The whole issue with concussions is so subjective.”

Bryan himself exhausted every avenue to keep wrestling, not for the money, or the fame, but for the sheer love of the business. You’d be hard-pressed to find a kinder, more articulate and passionate interviewee in the business than Bryan, who truly wears his heart on his sleeve.

He saw specialists, experts and doctors, underwent test after test, seeking clearance to resume his surefire hall of fame career. And he was cleared, by some, to continue wrestling.

“It's hard because I was cleared by concussions specialists in Phoenix and cleared by concussion specialists at UCLA, like a team of doctors. And I kept trying to go to different places to try to get more and more people to clear me so that all of the evidence would be on my side,” Bryan said of building his own case to continue with WWE.

Throughout the entire process, he said, he was open and transparent with WWE, whose medical staff would not clear the then 34-year-old.

“I was completely honest with the WWE about all of it and the idea of, 'Hey, if I get a bad test result, I let you know.' ”

Ultimately, a test in New York City proved the final hurdle Bryan wasn’t able to clear, signifying the end was near.

“When I told them that I was taking this test in New York City, they said, 'OK, well let us know the result.' Well, the test hasn't been peer reviewed, and I'm not saying it's a bad test, all I'm saying is this is not something that they're using the standard medical facilities,” Bryan added, his skepticism evident even today.

Alas, something showed up in the testing that WWE didn’t like.

“It showed a little something and then that becomes the automatic no and I'm just like 'uhhh,' ” the emotion of that moment still evident in his tone as he recounted it.

Bryan paused.

“It's this heart-wrenching thing,” he said, his voice cracking ever so slightly. “It's tough because we all get just this one life, right? And when you find something that you love as much as I love wrestling and then they tell you that you can't do it anymore, it becomes really, really tough. And then it becomes really, really tough when now you're around it every week. It's just seeing your friends be able to go out there and do it and then you still can't do it. It's one of those things. I guess I kind of accept it, but I have a certain amount of melancholy with it."

The “now” to which Bryan refers is his return to WWE as first a commentator for the WWE’s recent Cruiserweight Classic tournament, where Bryan worked with the talent of commentating star Mauro Ranallo. That was quickly followed by Bryan being named the new general manager of the company’s repackaged SmackDown Live.

While fans are once again able to bellow “Yes! Yes! Yes!” again as Bryan’s ring entrance hits, there were months and months where the arenas fell silent of that familiar tune. And Bryan himself wasn’t sure what his own future held.

There was soul-searching. There was doubt. There was sadness. And lest anyone think that if Bryan had the chance to go back and do things differently, he would, you’d be sorely mistaken.

Bryan doesn’t work that way.

"A lot of people have said, 'Oh, you need to change your style, you need to change your style, you need to change your style,' ” he said. “And that is very true. Steve Austin had this great conversation with me, it was during the time when I was still trying to cleared from my concussion stuff.”

Austin was preaching the same thing to Bryan, suggesting maybe he alter his style, something Austin himself had to do following a career-threatening neck injury of his own in his prime. But Bryan’s style, which involved a lot of high-flying maneouvres, hard hitting and kicks, was what got him to the big dance in the first place, he said.

“I wouldn't have gotten to where I was if I didn't have that style,” Bryan said, conceding that there “probably was a point where I could have changed it sooner, like when I came back from my neck surgery.”

But, Bryan noted, it wasn’t his style that ended his career.

“Realistically, my style isn't what put me out, I ended up taking a really hard hit to the head. It had nothing to do with my style.”

Bryan proceeded to give an example of his style, which can only be described as fearless and unrelenting.

“When I cam back from my neck surgery -- and I have this really bad habit, it's like I'm a glutton for punishment -- I was like, 'OK, I'm going to see how strong my neck is and to see if it can still take some of this stuff.' ”

Bryan had one thing on his mind following his return, a match (no doubt at WrestleMania) with the beastly Brock Lesnar.

“What I really wanted was I wanted a match with Brock Lesnar, that was my thing,” Bryan revealed. “But I didn't want to go into the match with Brock Lesnar (having) that be the first time I ever take a German suplex (following) my neck surgery. So, I wrestled Luke Harper and he German suplexed me on my head and everybody was like, 'Oh my gosh, why did you do that?!' ”

Simple, Bryan said. It’s his style.

“It's because I have this mentality of, 'Well, I don't want to go in there against Brock knowing he's probably going to give me one zillion German suplexes and not having taken a German suplex before and not having known that my neck was going to be ok.' ”

Daniel Bryan didn’t do anything at half speed. It’s up for debate whether that was the best decision he could make, but no one can question his devotion to business. He literally gave everything he had to wrestling. In hindsight, Bryan admitted when pressed, if he had it to do all over again, he would change very little.

“Really, there are a few minor tweaks that I would make, probably, but on the whole, I needed to wrestle a certain style to even get noticed by WWE, and then once I got to WWE, I needed to wrestle a certain style to break kind of that glass ceiling of where they thought that I should be. So I wouldn't do much different, I don't think."

Not only was Bryan done with wrestling as a career, there was a brief time when he couldn’t even face the idea of even being around his first true love. Would the urge to climb into the ring be too much? Would the business seduce him again? So Bryan walked away from wrestling, briefly it would turn out, to collect his thoughts and think about his future.

But Daniel Bryan’s heart belonged to wrestling. He knew it, and WWE knew it. Bryan re-emerged in WWE to be part of the Cruiserweight Classic, a tournament that held special meaning for him, himself having been a cruiserweight his whole life and someone who had to scratch and claw his way to WWE.

"The Cruiserweight Classic thing, to me, has been so much fun,” Bryan said of the tourney. “That's been rewarding for me. I feel like I’m really contributing to the product, contributing to helping people and working with Mauro Ranallo is literally just the best,” Bryan said of the Canadian-born commentator. “For somebody who hasn't done much commentary before, he makes it so much easier for me to sound good. If I wasn't in there with Mauro, nobody would be saying 'You're a great commentator.' Just because Mauro sets me up so well and when you know the intricacies of commentary and you realize at how good he is at doing that for me and for other people, it brings you a new respect for what he does. That has been a ton of fun.”

As for the role of GM on SmackDown, Bryan said that role comes with a lot of mixed emotions, again related to not being able to climb inside the ring and do what he does best.

“Doing the GM stuff has been fun, but it's also been hard. I think one of the really hard things for me was sitting out there, I've had to sit out there for two matches, and when I come out, I get this great reaction and then I just sit in a chair and watch other people wrestle. It's just like, 'Oh, come on, man,’ ” he said with a hearty laugh, adding he’s also enjoying taking in part in the post-SmackDown show Talking Smack. “There are parts of it that are really fun and there are parts of it that are really hard."

This weekend, Bryan will find himself in Brooklyn, at the Barclays Center, as part of SummerSlam, the WWE’s second biggest event of the year. It summons up mixed emotions: excitement for those who’ll make memories, and memories of his own SummerSlams past.

"My favourite for myself at SummerSLam was the 2013 SummerSlam,” Bryan offered. “I wrestled John Cena in the main event and that was the biggest moment of my career up to that point. Being able to be out there with John, and SummerSlam, other than WrestleMania, it's our biggest event of the year, so being put in that spot of main event an that sort of thing was really special to me. That was my personal favourite moment."

Asked about the main attraction at SummerSlam, Seth Rollins versus Finn Balor for the company’s new WWE Universal Championship, Bryan admitted he’s happy for both competitors.

"I'm really excited for Finn Balor, and for Seth Rollins. I've known both those guys for a long time,” he said, adding that Balor paid his dues in NXT but that his big push coming at SummerSlam says a lot about the belief WWE has in him.

“It's crazy because Finn was doing really well in Japan and then he signed and he was down in NXT and he did great on NXT, but he was down there a long time. He was down there for like two years. He and I had talked and it was just one of those things: when is he going to get his shot to come up? And now he's getting his shot and it's in a big way, in this huge match in the second biggest WWE show of the year and I think that's really great.”

The SummerSlam card, which also features Brock Lesnar versus the returning Randy Orton and WWE World Heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose versus Dolph Ziggler, is stacked, Bryan said.

“I'm really looking forward to SummerSlam for a lot of reasons. I'm looking forward to that and I'm looking forward to Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler. I think Dean Ambrose has done a great job establishing himself as the guy on Smackdown, as much as you can within three weeks. And I'm really excited for John Cena and AJ Styles. AJ Styles is just so good and John always brings his A Game to big pay-per-view events. It should be a really, really fun show."

While his immediate future involves being back around the business he loves with all of his heart, fans don’t know exactly how close they came to that not being a possibility. Bryan admitted he almost walked away from wrestling entirely following his retirement.

“I thought in my mind that was kind of what I needed (to do),” Bryan said. “(WWE) called me and asked me to do the Cruiserweight Classic thing and I thought about it and I was like, 'You know, that sounds really, really fun to me so I'll do that. They didn't ask me about the GM thing," he said with his signature laugh. “That was something that I was told to do."

Had WWE not reached out to Bryan, he had his exit strategy in the works.

"This summer I had signed up for a permaculture design course on Orcas Island,” he said. “It's like a sustainable agriculture course. And I had signed up to go to (Arizona State University) in the fall to get a biology and ecology degree.”

His involvement in wrestling has put his other plans on hold, for now at least.

“With the GM of SmackDown thing, I could do more of the online courses and stuff but I don't learn very well that way,” Bryan said. “And I wasn't able to do my permaculture thing. That kind of threw off my exit strategy.”

In the end, Bryan is back doing the thing that makes him most happy, albeit not in the role that makes him happiest, but it’s a start.

“I need to find something that I'm just as passionate about as wrestling and I don't know if this is it. I don't know if going really environmental and sustainable if that will inspire the same passion in me that wrestling did, but I was going to try. And then they just sucked me right back in,” he added with a laugh.

Bryan paused, again, before perfectly summing up the internal struggles he’s been feeling since walking out to the ring that fateful night in February and breaking up with his first true love.

"It's hard because I do, I love it. I love being in it and I love being around it, it's just hard when you can't do it."

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was meant to be.

Gotta love Bryan :(

I heard Dean Ambrose was disrespectful to Stone Cold in the interview, this true?

I didn't think he came across as disrespectful as much as he was uncomfortable with some of Stone Cold's questions. Stone Cold kept asking him about his childhood, his dropping out of school, his relationship with his parents. None of which Dean seemed comfortable or necessarily proud to talk about. In addition, Dean had a chill vibe throughout the show which gave me the impression that's just his actual personality until you push him into a corner but that it takes a lot to get Dean to that point in reality. At the same time, Stone Cold challenged Dean to step up his game because Stone Cold said he was so good/entertaining in the indies and he wanted to see more of that. Dean took it to heart but said he's limited in what he can do which I would think Stone Cold would know. In fairness, I think Stone Cold wanted him to really push Dean to get the attitude that guys like himself, Rock and HHH had back in the day and not worry about getting fired, which I don't think is necessarily the best advice for anyone's career in WWE, even if I'd love to see it myself.

Solution is to wear a jacket/pants that she takes off for the match, and has better ring gear underneath.

Dolph Ziggler is cutting promos that makes it feel like he gets it. Sometimes it sounds like he is *trying* to cut a good promo. I still think he loses and then enters a program with Bray Wyatt. But I think he could be the WWE World Champion heading into WrestleMania after a heel turn (bold prediction).

You know, if he had schooled Baron Corbin in that feud, instead of the 50/50 booking, Corbin would make a pretty good bodyguard for Ziggler.

I mean, they probably wouldn't have the name value that they have now if they'd come sooner, but most of them are pushing or past 40. Can't see WWE investing too much in them outside of NXT. Which is great for NXT and helps gives it credibility, but God I'd love to see guys like Roode, Aries, Young and Joe compete on Raw, Smackdown and PPV's.

I wouldn't have a problem with it but I get what you mean. Bobby has always been a better singles competitor of the two and should in the NXT title scene after Brooklyn. Storm showing up right after he was to win the NXT title to be his first challenger would be ok.

Care to ebolarate? I haven't watched "regularly" in a very long time, just tidbits here and there. While a lot of things seem really dumb, I feel like you are greatly over exaggerating.

I just said what I felt while I was watching it.

I was actually cringing as I watched it and was thinking "what the fuck is this?". I actually found it a bit funny, but funny as in "it's so bad, it's funny".

I just got flashbacks to The Boogeyman, but the difference between the two is that the whole Boogeyman character was just a piss-take, really. The character was to be entertaining, humorous and not to be taken seriously at all, and it worked.

This whole Demon <s>Kane</s> King thing is supposed to be viewed as being a legitimate threat to Rollins and judging by Rollins' reaction, scary? I really can't take the character seriously and Bálor's facial expressions and movements just added to the lameness of the gimmick.

I don't know what's so scary and intimidating about an Irishman crawling around the place with toilet paper in his hair and Venom painted on his chest.

If anything, the whole Demon King thing just makes Finn Bálor come across as mentally unstable, but not in the "cool Dean Ambrose" way, but in a way where if you saw someone acting like that, you would genuinely be worried about their health and safety and would try to get them admitted to some sort of mental hospital.

Balor does come off goofy if the first time seeing or hearing about his demon persona is just from the way RAW did it. On NXT, they handled the build up and mystic a lot better.

Been a real issue with a lot of the call-ups where the WWE flat out doesn't want to spend time needed to tweak or rebuild call-ups so they fit well with the new main roster audiences. They rushed Balor into the spotlight due to the draft thinning out RAW's star and then rushed everything about his character because of laziness and/or assume everyone already watches NXT.

Mr. Nerfect
08-18-2016, 09:44 PM
The good news for Finn Balor is that Vince and Kevin Dunn are obviously behind him. This is bad news, critically, for Balor; but his pockets won't be empty.

Mr. Nerfect

I'm actually hoping The Miz keeps the IC Title through SummerSlam.

Mr. Nerfect
08-18-2016, 10:18 PM
I'm curious as to see what they do with the Universal Title at SummerSlam. There are a few avenues they could take:

* They might go all-in with Balor winning the belt cleanly. A new era, a new champion for that era. It's a morale booster for those toiling in NXT too. Rollins has already had his moments and is cemented as a main eventer in the eyes of management. Him losing "makes" Balor in their eyes. Expect the Balor toys to be rolled out and Balor to be shoved down throats as the new John Cena/Roman Reigns type project.

* Balor wins the belt with help from The Club. They already have The Balor Club licensed and merchandised. This seems like the obvious decision from a marketing standpoint. This accomplishes the "new champion" agenda of the first scenario, but it also creates a new top heel (something they arguably need) and it turns Seth Rollins babyface. The benefits to a face Rollins are pretty obvious: People seem to want to cheer him, he's had his run as the lead villain, his merchandise is already in stores, etc. Rollins is arguably mature enough as a performer to handle being a top babyface with nuance at this point.

* Seth Rollins wins the Universal Title, probably with help from The Club, continuing the main story thread of him being the top heel of the brand. As an established main eventer, he's a good choice to "install" a championship. He's done that before with the NXT Championship, but that actually helps the Universal Title by drawing a parallel between them. Balor being screwed out of the belt by his friends would set him up as the new top babyface relatively smoothly, but also give him a chase.

Truth be told, the more I think about it, the more I think that the best creative decision would actually be to pull the trigger on The Balor Club. It's probably the best from a money point of view, it allows Rollins to become more important while also putting Balor center-stage in an arguably "easier" role. The angle does pretty much write itself. Having Roman Reigns floating around the main event in this context works too, as Rollins is going to need fire-power, and he's isolated everybody on the roster. Rollins & Reigns would be one man down, but that makes people think about Dean Ambrose and could encourage them to watch SmackDown. Yes, Balor winning the Universal Title helps SmackDown and creates a new major babyface slot for someone to take -- whether that be someone already on the roster, like Sami Zayn or Cesaro, or someone from NXT, like Shinsuke Nakamura.

He is, I just can't understand why he would want to let himself go. On his Art of Wrestling podcast appearance not long after his WWE release, he admitted that he had gotten too complacent and didn't have the right attitude.

I had read he had some sort of thyroid issue which could be a contributing factor in the weight gain. But he must also just be eating like shit, because between wrestling and hitting the gym for weight training you shouldn't end up looking like that unless your diet is fucked.

I'm the same, in a way.

I really don't watch much on the WWE Network anymore. I did at first, but that quickly stopped and most of the original content on the network really doesn't interest me.

I'm only keeping my subscription as I can catch PPV's the next day and it works out cheaper than ordering it through my cable provider.

It's just a shame I can't catch Raw or SmackDown the following day on the network.

There's so much good stuff on there though that isn't just events. Have you tried watching the CWC? WWE 24? Breaking Ground?

If the issue is them just having him show up for a promo on Raw and not holding it off until the ppv, I'm 100% in agreement. They did it to present this side of Balor to the masses who don't watch NxT. I don't like it, but that's why.

That's pretty much the big problem. That and the HYPE MACHINE behind it is going to put people off. That was a large part of why people turned against John Cena in 2005, I believe; and it's why people don't like Roman Reigns today. Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn have gotten really obvious when it comes to showing the strings.

All those shirts are horrible, to be honest.

The WWE really hasn't had that much luck with Hispanic talent, have they? I worry about Cien now, because it seems like he's destined to lose against Roode in Brooklyn. This is why ADR can hold up the WWE for so much money.

Random prediction: We'll see Beth Phoenix at SummerSlam. Super mom. I think she'll be a good fit for the SmackDown brand.

Think it was the Observer that stated the WWE is basically making the same mistakes with Cien as CMLL did during the late La Sombra era. Focusing too much on his actual looks for the basis of his gimmick.

The "Cien" meaning of his name for that shirt only makes sense if he had a rich man gimmick or if they went something more supernatural since his last name of "Almas" means souls.

I'm with noid. All those shirts are pretty base. The Cien shirt looks like a redesigned Sandow face. Like when there's a trade in sports and they show a traded player in his new uniform or hat even though he obviously hasn't worn it yet.

If you're going to have a 100, why would he not get attacked by The Perfect Ten? Where the hell has Dillinger been anyway? White hot as a jobber. You can do something with that.

Lock Jaw

Dillinger jobbed to Cien a couple times, and the fans chanted "He's 100"..... and they have turned the fan chant, which really is specifically directed at Tye Dillinger, and turned it into a shirt.

Yeah. I've checked out almost all of it and enjoyed some but not others. It's not enough to justify paying them when I've got enough other stuff to watch during football season and hockey playoffs and especially when the main portion of their product sucks.

Rumor going around the net is Sasha might be among those getting busted next for the Wellness Policy.

Current betting odds for the Women's title match swung in such a drastic way it fueled speculation something recently happened within the WWE. Doesn't guarantee she's losing the title (or match itself) since there usually is at least 1-2 more waves of big bets left to happen.

Most of the time when big swings happen, its usually several days away from the ppv like Ryder winning the IC title at Mania for recent examples.

Nah, smart money is usually a few hours before the event. Let's not forget the Daniel Bryan swing in the Rumble only for it to go back to Batista.

Did all of these wellness violators go out on a drug fuelled night out or something? Seems odd so many have been busted in a short amount of time.

You can watch Raw & Smackdown the following day on Hulu. That's why.

Hulu isn't available in the UK.

They don't really grab my interest.

Something really has to catch my attention and make me interested for me to go out of my way and watch it. That's not just with the network, but with television in general. I rarely watch anything on television or online, with Raw and SmackDown really being the only things I watch regularly.

I used to watch Countdown and some of Legends' House when the network became available here, and I do watch Austin and Jericho's podcasts but that depends on who their guests are, and I've wanted to give Edge & Christian's show a watch but I've never actually gotten around to it yet.

You can use the Hola browser add-on (free) and it will work anywhere. It changes your network settings to that of a country you specify.

It is relevant, because mrc is reporting something which anyone who has eyes, hs known since mysterio first came to wwe.

Totally didn't "get" Bobby Roodes' theme at first, but now I love it. Those Gloriousbomb videos certainly helped, but damn, had it stuck in my head for the last couple of days. That behind-the-scenes video helped as well, you can see the guys making the song had a blast doing it.
