This might be an unpopular opinion, but Cornette is a bit of a dick.
I've never really been a fan of him and I've never really understood the people who see him as some sort of god and, like that Dan guy in the image touched on, take his opinion as gospel.
He's always came across to me as arrogant/egotistical and really bitter about something. I get the feeling he thinks he's better than most people in the world of wrestling, because he hates the WWE and TNA and prefers promotions such as ROH, PWG, FWA and NJPW. One of those guys.
The people who flock to see him and whoop and cheer when he says something negative relating to WWE or TNA, only inflates his ego.

He's also been a giant failure in ROH, TNA and helped book the worst period in the WWF. Same thing he shits on Russo for.
it's mostly a work, he certainly has opinions and a lot of passion but for the most part he knows what people want to hear and placates them. He certainly dislikes Russo's way of going about things but he knows people want to hear him shit on him. I'm sure if the two of them sat in a room alone with wrestling cast aside, they'd get on just fine. And he doesn't hate WWE or TNA, just has a bit of an old school mentality. Was in the same kind of boat as you until a few months ago but get away from the idiots asking the same questions and he's great. Classy guy also.

He's got a brilliant fucking mind when it comes to the basics. He knows how to get a guy over and how to build anticipation for a match. He's like Paul Heyman in that way. He's just very anti-sports entertainment. I wish some writers in WWE had his mind for building characters over time and putting care into match outcomes and stuff.

Just because I dislike ROH doesn't mean I don't know all about it.
The fans hated his booking. His 'Pick 6' idea was a friggen mess. Booking Kenny King to win the tag title even though his contract was up in a couple days and ended up leaving. Non-finishes, not makibg any stars, pushing guys who weren't over. Getting the TWGTT looked awesome as I love that team, but they weren't over.
ROH isn't bad to watch once in a while and I do from time to time, but during Cornettes rub it wasn't nearly as good. The wrestling slowed down and attendance dropped.
He can blame others for ippv issues and stuff but the booking was on him and Delirious

<font color=goldenrod>I love JR's interviews on his podcast but I have to skip the opening monologue at this point. He bitches about the same exact things every single week. Rules aren't enforced enough, closed fist punches expose the business, ROH wrestlers work too fast, TNA has awful production values, there should be no more time limits, referees aren't utilized properly and should still have names, etc.
I agree with some of those things but jesus, I don't need to hear about them every fucking week.</font>

Just from watching Cornette's shoots, while he maybe be stuck in his anti-sports entertainment ways an he'd probably push guys based solely on rasslin' skill who have no business being pushed in a sports entertainment atmosphere (kinda like WWE does anyway), he understands the basics. Things that WWE is fucking abysmal at. Things that should be common sense whether you're running an old school wrestling company or a sports entertainment company.
He understands why match outcomes should matter. He understands why having a guy job for months, become a monster for a month to build to a title match, suddenly forget how to win matches again, and repeating is fucking stupid and gets no one over. He understands why Money in the Bank the way it's being done is gets no one over and makes the title a useless prop that no one is gonna pay money to see defended. He understands why Kane chokeslamming The Undertaker through a table the week after he debuts when you've got five months to build to the match is a retarded idea.
Basically he may be stuck in the 80's but there are still fundamentals that carry over into 2014 sports entertainment. As long as 50% or more of the show is wrestling matches that fans are expected to be invested in, they're necessary.

May as well have called this the Macho Man gets chokeslammed compilation for the amount of times he's in it. The series of slams he does from the 1:55 point look pretty dodgy, both hands around the neck with little in the way of leverage, think that was how it was originally then changed to one hand on the back.

A piece of wrestling history, Trump Plaza in Atlantic City will be closing it's doors in mid-September according to FoxNews.com.
"Trump Entertainment Resorts told The Associated Press that no final decision has been made on the Boardwalk casino. But the company said it expects the casino to close its doors Sept. 16."
Trump Plaza is the latest in a number of casinos that will be leaving the AC Boardwalk. The casino was a sponsor for WWE WrestleMania 4 and 5 in 1988 and 1989.

....just keep that Jew away from the check book.
But looking at Barely Legal, and Terry Funk's contribution, it's cool, but that's it. The God of the Smarks may have said it best, and I'm just going to paraphrase here, and add my own commentary.
The name of the company shouldn't be chanted when you have two guys kicking the fucking shit out of each other. Their names should be chanted. You never heard "WWF" when it was Hulk vs Andre, or "WCW" chants when it was Flair vs Sting.

WWF Black Saturday occured thirty years ago today.
Imagine being a huge fan of the NWA at the time, and the only way to watch it is every Saturday at 6:05 p.m. on WTBS, and you turn on one week, only to see Vince McMahon on the channel instead, hosting the program, and showing HIS wrestlers, instead of the familiar faces, like the Ric Flairs, the Dusty Rhodes', the Jimmy Valiants, etc. Well, it did happen, and the day remains in infamy in wrestling history, and is known as "Black Saturday" on July 14th, 1984.
After gaining control of Georgia Championship Wrestling, the WWF immediately shut down the wrestling operation. Their main interest was the 3 hours of national television time on Superstation WTBS (local Atlanta channel 17), as well as eliminating their competition in the state of Georgia which also gave them Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia markets that Georgia had been running for years. Ole Anderson, who had been in control of Georgia Championship Wrestling, was forced out, but quickly aligned with south Georgia promoters Fred Ward and Ralph Freed (and weeks later maverick promoter Ann Gunkle) to attempt to continue promoting wrestling shows in Georgia and elsewhere. The first thing they needed, though, was TV.
The week immediately following "Black Saturday", the Georgia promotional group hastily put together a television taping in the studios of WMAZ-13 in Macon GA. The new show debuted on July 21, 1984 (one week after "Black Saturday") and was called “World Championship Wrestling ’84” and aired on their stations in the traditional Fred Ward markets of Columbus, Albany, and Macon GA (and perhaps a few other markets as well) and also eventually got on WGNX-46 in Atlanta. The show was hosted by longtime announcer Gordon Solie, an icon in Georgia, and a focal point for fans who protested to WTBS that Georgia Wrestling had been replaced by the WWF.
this was the signal to many fans that WWF wasn't intent on playing by the rules.
WWF instead of giving them live action at first uses old taped matches. Eventually Ted Turner demands that they produce live content each week.
The WWF show on TBS was a ratings disaster from the start. GCW's core audience began writing and calling TBS in droves, furious over the fact that GCW was no longer airing on the station and demanding to know why. Thousands of complaints were received, many of which focused on the loss of Gordon Solie. Turner himself was angered by the sinking ratings and made two decisions that would fix the ratings problem.
First, Turner made an offer to Bill Watts, a promoter who ran Mid South Wrestling out of Oklahoma, to take a Sunday afternoon time slot on TBS. Turner then gave Ole Anderson's Championship Wrestling from Georgia, an NWA-affiliated promotion regarded as the successor to GCW with Gordon Solie as its announcer, a weekly time slot on Saturday mornings. McMahon was not happy with either of Turner's decisions, thinking his control of GCW would make the WWF the exclusive wrestling company on TBS. Both Mid South Wrestling and Championship Wrestling from Georgia outdid the WWF in ratings.

With pay-per-view pretty much going away, it's said that WWE's business now and going forward is all about WWE Network subscriber numbers.
WWE still needs a steady rate of 1.3 million to 1.4 million monthly subscribers worldwide to break even. With heavy budget cuts, it's possible that number could drop some. In order for WWE to make it back to previous levels of financial success, they need closer to 1.9 million monthly subscribers. Once WWE tops 2 million subscribers, unless they face major unexpected costs, the company will be in the best financial position they have ever been in.
A great number for WWE's next subscriber announcement at the end of this month would be 850,000. Given how hard the Network has been pushed, the loaded pay-per-view events and a number of specials on the Network, anything less than 850,000 total subscribers wouldn't be that good. WWE announced back in early April that the Network had 667,287 subscribers and they were hoping to hit at least 1 million before the end of the year.

Once they expand it internationally, they'll be fine. You aren't going to get 2 million subscribers in just the USA.

I was surprised to see her as the host, as she's pretty much "made a name for herself" over here in the UK since coming second on "I'm a Celebrity" in 2012. Since then, she's appeared on a good amount of shows over here and now she lives in London.

They should but will still show how completely wrong they were about their core US base for the Network. Going into the launch, they were estimating to easily hit the million plus mark and hyping their core base being in 5-10 million range.
Played a big role in why their stocks dropped after the first numbers were revealed and a mini-factor for why their new tv deal wasn't as massive as they were expecting.

WWE: Sting confirms he would love to wrestle Undertaker before he quits - and pinpoints Wrestlemania 31 for "one last big match"
Sports entertainment icon Sting has given the clearest indication yet he WILL step into a WWE ring for the first time in his near three decade career, declaring: "I'm all for it."
The WWE 2K15 video game star, a former eight time WCW World champion, has also targeted a date for "one last big match" - next year's WrestleMania.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror about his debut in the WWE's forthcoming video game release, the veteran headliner admits the opportunity to finally make his mark in the company that won the 'Monday Night Wars' TV battle was one he couldn't miss out on.
"Why now? It's a now or never thing," says the 55-year-old.
"I've done so many things in the wrestling business but the one thing I'd never done was wrestle or be a part of the WWE family.
"I didn't want too hang it all up and retire and disappear again without having done that in some capacity."
And it is evident Sting - real name Steve Borden - visualises his inclusion in the game as two pre-order playable characters as only the start of his relationship with WWE.
"I've made it clear I'd love to have one last hurrah, one last big match hopefully. And of course I've been outspoken about Undertaker being the opponent," he replies, when asked if he is open to negotiate lacing up his boots for the company.
"I know what happened at Wrestlemania where Brock Lesnar broke his streak. I think, or at least I'm hoping, that Taker's still going to come back and that he's not done. If he's not done, and he would consider doing it, I'd love to work with him one time.
"I'd love to wrestle him one time before I call it quits."
Asked whether his character may appear live on WWE television shows as part of 2K15's promotional campaign, Sting gave fans every hope he would be seeing action in the ring.
"All for it, just put it that way. I'm all for it," he says.
"Undertaker maintained a status in wrestling and the WWE that is second to none. He's a phenomenon," Sting adds, before answering unequivocally as to where he might like his dream match to take place: "How about San Francisco, 2015, in April?"
Neither would he object to having his career recognised by the annual WWE ceremony that only months ago honoured the late Ultimate Warrior, the special draw for last year's game - and Sting's tag team partner when the pair were both rookies.
"Obviously it would be a great honour to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It's nothing that I would say no to, that's for sure," he adds.
It was in paying tribute to Warrior in April, who died three days after his HoF induction and just hours after rattling the ropes on TV show Raw for the first time in nearly 18 years, that Borden made his first appearance on WWE programming.
He recalls: "We started in California - he was in Atlanta, I was in California and called him up because I had met him a year earlier and asked him to come to this wrestling camp. It was 'let's do a tag team thing, let's get this thing going and see what we can do'.
Within a few years of teaming up in Memphis, Tennessee for the first time, both had carved out roles as heroes to millions of children across the globe - but for different promotions.
Sting continues: "Now I can look back and realise just how amazing it all was. It's remarkable really that both of us ended up taking it all as far as we did."
"It would seem like every three, four, five years or so we'd bump into each other," Sting adds.
"He called me twelve years ago, he needed some help with some stuff and of course I was there to help him out as much as I could. We never really kept in contact, but it was always friendly when we did.
"With his resurgence with WWE I was really looking forward to reconnecting with him again, and maybe even working with him in some capacity through WWE."
Despite his considerable experience, Sting presents many fascinating and fresh potential storyline opportunities for WWE to capitalise on, as well as game players.
Singling out young, bright performers as Daniel Bryan ("unreal talent"), Roman Reigns ("all the ability, all the talent to become one of the greatest") and Bray Wyatt ("unbelievable talent on the microphone and in ring, a very physical guy"), Sting says he is excited about dream matches that until now seemed impossible getting a virtual run out.
"It's a no brainer that the Sting-'Taker match will be a popular option - that's one way the fans can make that match happen.
"I always wanted to work with the likes of The Rock, John Cena and Randy Orton so I can't imagine wrestling fans won't want to do the same thing."
A little surprisingly, Sting hasn't shared a room with WWE supremo Vince McMahon since they both attended a TV industry expo in the early 1990s - and they have never actually met each other, despite having a "handful" of talks over the years.
"It never did work," says Sting, who says he has had some conversations with Executive Vice President and onscreen authority figure Triple H in the last few months.
"But Vince would always say: 'Make sure to always cross your T's and dot your I's. I know that we'll do business some day'.
"And I guess he had a better sense, or was more prophetic, than I could ever be."

I've often said that I have never really been that big of a fan of Sting's. I should preface it like this: I fucking HATED Surfer Sting with his bright colored britches, Sgt. Pepper Jackets, and goofy "I like everyone" demeanor.
Maybe that's where my disdain of Cena's character came from? Too much like the hokey Sting I didn't like?

Now that you mention it, it does look look odd. It's not like you'd have to decide to just sit and count them. You'd just have to notice the even rows sticking out further than the odd rows.

It's something that people see often that is suddenly skewed in one instance. I hardly think it takes Rain Man to glance at it for a couple seconds and say "Wait, something's not right..." and then figure out there's an inexplicable extra column of stars. Like I said, it's not like someone had to sit there counting them.

A big reason why WWE signed KENTA is because the WWE Network is expanding into Japan next year and they really have wanted a top Japanese star for that reason.
It's clear so far that WWE officials are not bringing KENTA in to fail and from an importance standpoint, it appears there is more to his signing than meets the eye.
KENTA is playing a big part in WWE's Japanese expansion as it was announced a few days ago that NXT, where KENTA will be going first, will start airing on J Sports, a Japanese satellite channel. NXT was added to the channel due KENTA being expected to be a regular there in just a few months.
KENTA is scheduled to arrive in Orlando this coming week and WWE has another press conference scheduled then.
