Apparently David Bixenspan managed to uncover new details from the Nancy Argentino case from over 30 years ago.

The first involves Vince McMahon talking with Argentino to have her drop all charges against Snuka from a domestic violence incident in January 1983 and the other being a secret memo between lawyers revealing issues with how her autopsy report was handled.

David Bixenspan at MEL Magazine has done a deep investigation into the story involving Nancy Argentino’s death in May 1983, which was the recent subject of an episode of Dark Side of the Ring ...

The first major incident between Snuka and Argentino occurred on January 18, 1983, at the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in Onondaga County in Syracuse, New York. After complaints from a nearby room, the motel manager Thomas Donovan finally contacted police to investigate what was going on between the two. Bixenspan poured through statements and affidavits from the authorities assigned to the case that night stating they witnessed physical abuse by Snuka, including grabbing Argentino by the hair and dragging her against the wall. Deputy Lawrence Witter assessed her injuries from the attack included a bruised right thumb, a contusion to the neck, possible fractured ribs, and a lower back injury.

Argentino initially signed a release to share her medical records with the Sherriff’s department but the following day stated she wasn’t seeking prosecution and said she was never struck or intentionally harmed by Snuka. The MEL Magazine story investigates the possible reasons for this change in her response and discovered a file from the New York case summarizing a phone interview with Detective Gerald Procanyn with Sgt. Peter Bronstad (who was struck by Snuka at the motor lodge) and Deputy Alex Romanenko. In the summary, it states that ‘Vince McMahon tried to talk her out of making the complaint against Snuka’. WWE was contacted for a response to the MEL Magazine feature and did not respond.

The final portion is dedicated to the autopsy report after Argentino’s death in May 1983 conducted by Lehigh County Medical Examiner Dr. Isidore Mihalikis. This was key to the case being revisited as the Allentown Morning Call obtained the autopsy report for their 2013. It was obtained through the documents presented in the 1985 civil case filed by the Argentino family against Snuka for the wrongful death of Nancy and resulted in a $500,000 judgment levied and never paid.

In a memo between two lawyers outlining the contents of the autopsy report, one lawyer (only identified by the initials ‘DNZ’ and addressed to ‘’SRW’) outlines a conversation with Lehigh County District Attorney William Platt. In the memo, it states an autopsy report was never transcribed but the details were communicated orally. Platt conveyed that the death was consistent with a single fall with medical examiner not finding any ‘bruises, lacerations, or other indications of a beating or prior injuries’, adding that the cause of death would have been termed ‘accidental’ if a formal autopsy was prepared. When the actual autopsy report came out in 2013, it did not reflect the descriptions in the memo were numerous cuts and lacerations and stated in the report that

In view of the autopsy findings and the discrepancies in clinical history, I believe that the case should be investigated as a homicide until proven otherwise.

Triple H wasn't even good for all of 2000. He was about done SummerSlam time. Kurt Angle should have gone with Stephanie and been the new top heel, but Trips had to spray his stink everywhere. Rock vs. Chris Benoit drew as much as the Iron Man Match that year. Triple H's importance is way overblown. He could disappear from history and no one would give a flying fuck.

Pretty damning re: Triple H in the last page. I fall somewhere in between. I think he was good enough to be a top guy, but his behavior (only a few stories of many on this page) have ruined his legacy and meant he will never have the chance to prove what he could have been without all the help and excess.

Ironically, one of his greatest victims in Booker T, showed what he could do, both in WCW and WWE without really having the machine behind him. He had far more natural talent and charisma than Triple H and got his achievements on merit, something Trips will never really be able to say.

Supposedly a dispute between them and their record label was the reason they left. WWE had a chance to buy them out of their deal with their label but their label refused in the end.

WWE supposedly also had other issues with their music department at the time which is why they started leaning a lot more towards royalty free music for new themes.

NX and AEW's ratings for this week's shows might struggle a bit more than usual due to the return of UFC Fight Night on ESPN's streaming service starting at 9PM tonight.

Might affect AEW more since UFC's average viewership age leans more towards their age range than WWE and NXT.

PWI PODCAST 05/12/20: AUTHOR OF THE ANDRE THE GIANT BOOK PAT LAPRADE

Pat Laprade talking about Andre not wanting to retire from the ring: "The only place where Andre felt like a normal human being was in the wrestling locker room. That's the only place where he wasn't looked at as a freak or a giant. People wouldn't point fingers at him. They wouldn't laugh at him or be scared of him like reactions he was getting in the real world. That's why he had some hard feelings against Vince Jr because when Vince decided to go national and to have him exclusive, Andre couldn’t go see all of his friends like he used to. Yes, he was still traveling but it was the same locker room over and over again. When he was booked by Vince Sr, he would go from territory to territory and see different people and see different friends. That's what he like so much. That's also why Andre never wanted to quit. When Vince finally decided not to use him anymore, Andre didn't like that and he reacted in a way that, maybe he shouldn't. He went to Clash of Champions in 1992. When look at, it should have been a no-no. Andre going to a WCW PPV doesn't make any sense when you think of it. But, Andre was really frustrated that Vince wasn't going to use him anymore. At the same time, we can't blame Vince for that. Andre couldn't let it go. It wasn't about the money at all. Andre had money. It was that if he wasn't in a wrestling locker room, he didn't know what to do. That's why he kept a way to keep wrestling in Japan and Mexico. Even in Japan, he was so well respected that when he started working for All Japan after working for years for Inoki and New Japan, it was New Japan who told All Japan that the way we do wrestling now is not suited anymore for Andre, but I think he can still be useful for All Japan because All Japan always did one comedy match or one with old timers." ...

Laprade mentioning why Andre was billed as 7 feet 4 inches: "Lou Alcindor, who later became Kareem Abdul-Jabaar started becoming this big NBA star and won the championship with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Vachons were working a lot for Verne (Gagne) at the time. Milwaukee was one of the main towns they were being booked at. Both Vachons were watching a lot of news and interest in other stuff. They knew about Lou Alcindor and that he was 7' 2" and was the tallest athlete at the time. When the media and Andre came, it was only normal to make Andre the tallest athlete of his era. Like Paul Vachon told us, 7 feet 4 sounded right. We could not have said he was 7 feet 9. In reality, our count was at one point he was a real 7 footer.
From a recent episode of PWI's podcast show with the author of the new Andre the Giant biography that had a few tidbits I found interesting.

Are you implying or assuming that a "properly good match" is one that is on TV but is also entirely scripted (almost the same as others) move for move and/or segment for segment?

If so, I can almost guarantee you that WWE contractually makes their talent agree that "99% or more" of the time (IF the talent can even remotely dispute and/or keep track), of what happens to their "character" and worse when factoring in live events and "PPV"s, i.e., not just what happens on TV. AEW has no such contractual arrangements despite actually paying closer and/or equal salaries and better benefits.

Most talent has been previously so desperate to take what "big" guaranteed amount they can get from WWE, and outside of the sheer total guaranteed money WWE has been previously offering, plenty of folks would have otherwise left for other places for the creative freedoms and/or other benefits/guarantees.

What the fuck are you even talking about? Are you drunk?

Do you think WWE plots out their matches move-by-move? Nobody's got time for that. Routine matches are the norm in wrestling these days, because talent all works the same. That's on the talent. It's why AEW hasn't exactly had stellar ring work either.

I mean, I haven't been there myself, but I'm sure it's pretty well accepted that WWE actually don't do what you're saying they do. Are you actually suggesting they plan out the matches really thoroughly? Lol, what do you think the talent does in AEW? Call shit in the ring? Who is even good enough to do that?

The ship sailed on AEW being a better place to work. Most good talent/stars signed back up with WWE when they saw that AEW opened with a Casino Battle Royal for a World Title shot in the main event of their next real PPV, which featured Glacier freezing someone with ice powers. Creative freedom =/= good. Matt Hardy proves that. Almost all of AEW proves that. There are maybe two or three guys that understand why they are doing what they are doing there. They've capped themselves in terms of viewership, so even the stars they do have/could have coming up their ranks are probably going to jump to the WWE when their deals are up or sooner. It's the difference between being watched by <1 million people and >2 million people. And because they sharted on the rights fees, it's not like Shad Khan is guaranteed to pony up.

All the potential of AEW was huff and puff. They've delivered on basically none of their promises. It's not sports-based. It's not the Ellis Island of professional wrestling. It doesn't get away from WWE tropes. Did they even end up giving their talent benefits? It's just riding a "Not WWE" wave.

Mr. Nerfect

I can't believe people in one breath say "nothing WWE does matters," then on the other hand have AEW which chop and change their storylines just as much, and are even less consequential or influential than the WWE, but they're cool. It's just fucking bonkers.

I'm not saying AEW is superior overall necessarily or not. That's subjective to each individual, viewer and talent.

What I am saying is that yes, anything that appears on TV and PPV, and even a "majority" of the so-called "big talent" live event matches, are planned almost move for move, but not necessarily "rehearsed".

It's not remotely as hard or time consuming if there are systems in place and you're trained to do it from the beginning. The fact that most people don't know this is ridiculously pathetic. The fact that you don't and/or can't believe this shows, not only, 1. how little you know about what actually happens (pure systematization due to effectiveness) in any major company, let alone an entertainment or any major company, but 2. how little you actually know about the details of how WWE's creative process works.

That obviously, doesn't mean that EVERY match, and certainly not every TV/PPV match and/or appearance is identical, scripted, and/or things don't sometimes go "off script" when needed of course. However, more often than not, if it's makes it to the public at large (appears on Raw, SD, NXT, "PPV", YouTube, etc.), everything they do is by design and often rehearsed at least one or more times.

Lol, that's absolute horse-shit and you know it.

I mean, not only is that not what actually happens, but it's also not the most efficient way of doing things. Why waste energy rehearsing shit when you can just go over shit with an agent and no one has to generate a fucking template for you?

Is criticism of AEW this effective in knocking you completely out of reality?

I used to think the issue with Cornette in AEW is that he would have to kayfabe it up, which means selling guys like Omega and The Bucks. He can't tell the truth about them the whole way, because it completely buries them. But then I heard his promo from Jake's perspective on his podcast this week, haha.

For those who missed it, he basically demonstrated how Jake could cut a promo that gets Lance Archer over instead of Jake over. He managed to take aim at Kenny and The Bucks in it by heeling on Cody and how he thought he could rule the roost in AEW, because he went into business with two goofballs and a clueless guy he has got no problem being a bigger star than.

It took shots at The Bucks and Omega while staying in character and being a great heel. It also went over to actually put Lance Archer over as the man in Brandi's head that she's imagining while she's in Cody's bed. Fucking amazing.

In May 2005, Cornette was suspended for several weeks by WWE after slapping OVW developmental wrestler Anthony Carelli backstage after Carelli had "no-sold" fellow wrestler The Boogeyman by laughing at him during a live OVW event. Shortly after Cornette returned from his suspension, a separate incident occurred and the WWE released him from his contract in July 2005.

Oh yeah, I’m not saying you’re wrong or anything. People just constantly go way out there with Corny and act like he’s been fired from every job he’s ever had. He walked away from WCW, took a step back from the WWF to work in OVW, left Global Force, quit ROH and actually quit the NWA too.

Maybe it’s because he’s so direct and passionate, or that he doesn’t mince words, but I can’t think of many people in wrestling, at least, that have more misinformation out there about them. There are people who think he’s actually a conservative and shit. It’s crazy.

I am pretty sure this is Memphis. But Eddie Gilbert knows that you don't always have to be a blatant puppy kicking dickhead to get heat. Making the women open the door for him? That is just a subtle assholery that most outside of that region wouldn't get. He was the world's shortest Chad, 30 years before the Incel mindset was a thing.

Apparently WWE had a huge storyline planned that would have been the big post-Mania storyline for this year.

According to WrestleVotes, would have been on the same level as the Vince McMahon limo explosion or Nexus debut storylines in terms of importance.

WWE reportedly had a major storyline planned for this spring and summer, but things were nixed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Officials came up with a lengthy major storyline that was to unfold over the span of several weeks during the spring and summer of this year, according to @Wrestlevotes. It was noted that the storyline was to play out similar to how the Vince McMahon limousine explosion or the Nexus invasion debut did.

The storyline was put on hold due to COVID-19 forcing WWE to tape TV shows on closed sets with no fans. Crowd reactions play a major part when it comes to the direction of WWE's matches and storylines, and this was key in the decision to put the storyline on hold.

Because despite what Triple H claimed a few times before, WWE legit doesn't plan things out for their call-ups.

Like with the Street Profits vs. Viking Raiders feud, her only involvement was to warn the Profits to stop goofing around and take the Raiders as a serious threat. Fast forward a couple of weeks and both teams are goofing off making everything she mentioned before meaningless.

That's some weird/bad promotional philosophy. You never set something up like that. But also, what is the point of it? The idea of a match is to win in decisive fashion. Bullshit like "best bouts" and all that is contrary to the point of wrestling.

The Undertaker joined Big Cat and PFT Commentator on a recent episode of Pardon My Take ...

Taker was also asked about a rumor that he was afraid of cucumbers. The question led to a fun back-and-forth between Undertaker and the hosts.

"OK, let's get this straight. We've had a good conversation," Undertaker said. "I'm not scared of cucumbers. I just don't like cucumbers."

"I just like the idea of Undertaker, the biggest badass ever, if you just bring a cucumber into the room, you'll make him a little kid," Big Cat said.

"I'll probably leave the room. I'm not gonna run," Undertaker joked. "If they're whole, that's one thing. If they're cut up, whew."

"The Cucumber Man is someone that can be used. That's how you should've lost at WrestleMania," Big Cat added. "The Cucumber Man coming out and slewing cucumbers at your face."

"People would have bought that a lot more if I slipped on a cucumber," Undertaker remarked. "Man, the hair on my neck is starting to stand up."

Earlier in the day on May 22, 2020, Hana had tweeted out images of what appeared to be self-harm, with captions that suggested she was on the receiving end of a great deal of cyberbullying.

Supposedly she was dealing with a ton of harassment online ever since an episode of reality series Terrance House aired that featured her going off on a room mate who ruined her wrestling gear. Add that with the usual shit women wrestlers have to deal with online and that ended up finally driving her over the edge.

Between this and Arisa abrubtly retiring, I dunno if I can keep watching Stardom when it starts back up.

So i wondered into the terracehouse fansites because of Hana's situation. I can report that wrestling fans are no where near as dysfunctional as that group. All depends on how bad her mental state was by that point. Even with no coronavorus around and having a strong support system, no guarantee this wouldn't have eventually happened.

Aside from the suicide, it does seem that there’s a recent trend of the Japanese women retiring very young. Arisa was only 24, Hazuki 22, Kagetsu 26. I know they all start training very young which unfortunately contributes to the injuries piling up very early on.

Meanwhile you’ve got Sumie Sakai still wrestling in the states at nearly 50.

There once was a cunt. For years the cunt would shiver and emit some loose noises. The villagers were really impressed and respected the cunt, and even put some velvet rope around it in the town square so to give it time to do what it was trying to do. Eventually the cunt's sputtering formed a noise recognizable...words! The cunt spoke words! The town people gathered around to listen to it speak. Afterwards, they realized the real trick was getting the cunt to shut the fuck up.

Shut the fuck up, cunt.

Her mental state drove her to this. It's not really a case of blaming others or denying blame. All fans should look at themselves and how they carry themselves, but she was obviously not well.

What the fuck do you know about her mental health and history? Was she depressed growing up? What was her family life like? What were her finances? How was her love life? Were her employers fair?

She was a performer. It takes a certain kind of person to do that, and sometimes they put pressure on themselves or are dealing with some sort of depression from the start.

People don’t kill themselves because they want to die. They kill themselves when the pain caused by their mental illness outweighs their ability to cope with said pain. It’s a war of attrition that takes place over a long period of time. So it’s something she probably has been dealing with for a while now.

That said, I don’t think the role that people on social media played in her death should be downplayed. Especially considering she directly mentions it in her final farewell tweet.

It’s one thing to fight severe depression. I couldn’t even imagine trying to fight it while hundreds of people are sending you death threats and telling you to kill yourself on a daily basis.

Based on early indications, Hana ended up killing herself via hydrogen sulfide.

Also her mother was the first to find her lying dead on the floor.

I've been saying the same thing. Whatever number RAW or SD eventually settles at, add about 200-300k to that when live crowds are back and that's the new normal. (My prediction for RAW is 1.5 and SD 1.8 during during 'rona)

AEW and NXT might add 100k each is my guess.

Emperor Smeat
05-25-2020, 12:55 AM
Even though AEW and NXT are suffering with the decline in DVR viewers, feel they still have a good chance to get back to pre-coronavirus levels when things return to normal after a while. Mainly due to the gap needing to be closed is a lot smaller than RAW and SD and both shows are still in the tv audience building stage.

All depends on how much longer these crowd-less shows last and people feeling comfortable enough to start regularly showing up in large enough numbers to make a real difference without also risking everything going right back to square one with the virus.

Because Heyman and/or someone else in RAW Creative decided to suddenly change plans early on for the Street Profits vs. Viking Raiders feud.

Went from being a serious feud with the Raiders as this huge menacing threat and Profits needing to get their act together if they wanted to keep the belts into quickly becoming a feud that's been about both teams goofing off and playing sports games instead.

Don't need Belair around for that nor her tough stance on the Profits goofing off habits.
