For those that enjoy watching classic wrestling, Post Wrestling recently had a news article about one of Buddy Rodgers' earliest known matches being on Youtube.

Its from a Youtube channel called The Wrestling Films and features wrestling matches mostly from the 1930s-1960s.

The Wrestling Films YouTube channel has footage of one of Buddy Rogers’ earliest matches from 1944 wrestling as Dutch Rohde against Ash Mahoney. In Tim Hornbaker’s excellent “Master of the Ring” bio on Rogers, it states his first known match was on July 18, 1942, against Eddie King. It wasn’t until he went to Texas in 1945 where he took on the name he would forever be known as.

WWE and Gabe Sapolsky recently got dropped from the sexual abuse lawsuit against Riddle due to the court's issues with Riddles accuser's claims against them.

Main issue is Riddle's accuser failed to prove why the court should have legal jurisdiction over them nor provided any strong evidence of their connection to her claims against Riddle.

The court does think the case is still good enough for Riddle to continue as a defendant since his motion to have the case dismissed was recently rejected.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Zelina Vega recently signed a short term contract with a mystery company.

Only details currently known about the deal is that its exclusive in nature and she didn't signed with AEW. Might not even be with a wrestling company since the current details are very vague.

Yeup and all because WWE decided to use their patent booking of taking what should have been a very hot and money making feud on paper and quickly turned it into a very uninteresting Mania build.

Mania has 11 matches announced so far and I'd argue only 3 of them have felt Mania worthy in terms of interest and/or build. Would have been 4 had they held off the IC title match at Fastlane or didn't do that buzz kill of a finish solely to artificially extend the Big E vs. Apollo feud into Mania.

At least last year's Road to Mania had the excuse of WWE's plans being thrown into complete chaos once the pandemic really sunk its teeth in but it still managed to have a better overall build than this year's Mania by comparison. Only real issues were WWE bloating Mania 36's card at the last minute and wasting valuable hours on airing lengthy past classic matches solely to eat up time that could have been used to improve the build for those extra matches instead.

The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship has also been booked rather poorly for a while now. Also the concept of will they won't they coexist is beaten to death in the company and I just can't get invested in it anymore. Not to mention interjecting your tag team champions with a feud with the women's world champion has become stale too. There's no originality or focus on in-ring competition. If their focus is on compelling storylines, they're really bad at that too.

I'd say it started going downhill after The IIconics won it at WrestleMania. There were some decent moments here and there with Asuka & Kairi Sane, even Bayley & Sasha Banks when they were building up to the eventual breakup.

It does feel like Mania has snuck up on them this year.

The fact that numerous acts have just put themselves/been arbitrarily put in title matches didn’t help (AJ/Omos, Charlotte, then Rhea, Drew). I’m sort of hoping for a big multi man match for the SmackDown Tag Titles as little has been built (The Mysterios?) and there’s a lack of variety in the card so far.

I'd blame the issue with Mania's card and build this year due to WWE having 2 PPVs in between the Rumble and Mania. That led to the Road to Mania being more watered down and/or rushed than usual.

Add in WWE also being preoccupied with the switch from the WWE Network to NBC's Peacock and that just compounded the problems for Mania's build this year.

Seems NWA has started to block matches involving their talent from airing on non-FITE streaming services.

Thunder Rosa is current scheduled to wrestle for an event that's airing on Title Match Network but it will only be viewable for the live audience and not those who purchase the show online due to NWA's demands.

Billy Corgan and the NWA blocked Thunder Rosa vs. Queen Aminata from airing in a match scheduled for 5/22 in Magnolia TX that was to air on the Title Match Network. The match will take place for the live audience but the NWA would not allow her match to air. Others announced for the show include Sonny Kiss, Nyla Rose, Madi Wrenkowski and Raychell Rose.

All of the "Celebrity" crossover WWE is doing couldn't mean less to me. I have no clue who Bad Bunny is, I know that Soulja Boy was relevant once but I don't know if he is any longer, and Bow Wow is clearly a mark and makes me shake.my head. Logan Paul has zero credibility and if it wasn't for his brother boxing a few easy cans and getting ready to be smashed by Ben Askren I'd have no idea who he is either.

I have very little interest in basic pop culture, for my taste give me Shaq vs Cody any day over that crap.

Its more likely for Taya since I doubt WWE would have filed a trademark for "Franky Monet" just to use it on a dog.

If her last name is meant to be Monet, they didn't file any other trademark using it so Franky couldn't be for her dog.

Not 100% sure but think you can trademark animal names for merchandise-related stuff in wrestling but not as a wrestler name based on how the wording works for wrestling trademarks and issues with written consent that pop up every so often.

If the USPTO asked for a written consent form for "Franky", WWE wouldn't be able to give them one if the name belonged to a dog and not a person for a wrestler trademark.

Seeing as lucha/cruiser style wrestling has been WWE's weakness for decades outside of some brief moments, shudder to think what WWE's "touch" on Lucha Libre will be.

If its anything like what they planed for NXT Japan, its just going to be them trying to buy out and destroy all the big companies in Mexico and shoehorn the NXT style into another market with the only real difference being a roster mostly full of Hispanic wrestlers.

Triple H already mentioned in the past that his global goal is for the WWE/NXT style to supplant all of the major styles around the world and create a McDonald's like effect for wrestling in general. At least when Vince decided to take over wrestling, he mostly kept it to the US & Canada and American style of wrestling.

Not even stuff like hardcore/deathmatch wrestling will be out of Triple H's cross-hairs since he also mentioned in another past interview about how he wants WWE to eventually be the one who gets to decide which companies are allowed to exist under BS safety and moral excuses that not even WWE is immune from breaking.

Maybe for NXT Mexico but doubt it for the main roster.

Then again that would just cause its own set of issues since if you call up someone from NXT Mexico to regular NXT or the main roster, they would then need to adjust to working with new ropes.

Impact used to have the problem of wrestlers complaining that the six-sided ring was too stiff compared to the normal rings they used to work in. Only reason they changed it was due to Eric Bischoff at the time thinking the ring was stupid and not being fond of lucha rings.

Despite airing on a new night and going head-to-head with Night 2 of NXT TakeOver and GCW's Bloodsport 6 show, Impact's show this week actually managed to increase in viewers and ratings which is pretty cool for them.

Thursday's Impact averaged 168,000 viewers on AXS TV, up from the 149,000 viewers that the final Tuesday episode of the show averaged last week. This was Impact's best viewership number since February 23.

The rating in the 18-49 demo was a 0.06. That tied the February 16 episode for the best rating Impact has done in the demo in 2021.

Impact ranked 115th for the night on cable in 18-49. Last week's episode wasn't in the cable top 150.

I think its meant to be a dig at 2K Games since if they are reusing the same animations from Yukes' engine, then they might be just as lazy with this year's game development as in the past.

Assuming that's true, then it might also still have the same lingering problems as before despite them having an extra year to work on it.

Said a long time ago this series needed stopped for a while then restarted from scratch, there's a lot of legacy issues that have never really been sorted out, and some of the more ropey looking animations are well over a decade old.

Apparently there was gonna be a 2k21 but it was shelved after 2k20 launched in a half finished state.

Just be interested to see if they've been paying attention to the current product. If i pick goldberg for example if i press punch he should do a spear, if i press kick he should also do a spear, any kind of grapple a spear. Have to try and be a bit faithful to tv after all.

According to PWI, Major League Wrestling is currently in talks with Discovery for a potential streaming deal for the Discovery+ service.

Playing it has learning curve that's higher than other wrestling games, but its not too hard. Simming and manipulating AI logic on the other hand, is a rabbit hole that goes very, very deep. But it's extremely rewarding when you get good at it.

Playing the 2k games online is more or less pointless, you normally can't connect to a game, and if you do you encounter some lifeless basement dwelling Granny shagger that seems to know the game inside out and you're lucky if you land a hit. From that point on all they do is wear down your limited reversals, and when that happens you may as well disconnect from the game as you're just gonna get smacked around the ring for the rest of the match.

It's rare to get a decent game against someone online, i can probably count on one hand the amount of good games i've had online in this series since it finally made its way to pc.

I remember doing an Elimination Chamber online where 3 guys in the match were in the same party and teamed up to eliminate 2 of the other guys.

I was the 6th entrant. So all 3 of them were stood directly outside my pod, taunting nonstop to get their specials accumulated, and of course the second I walked out of my pod it was a finisher fest and I was eliminated within about 90 seconds and there was not a god damn thing I could do about it. Fucking waste of time.

According to Fightful, 2K Games is going to be a lot more open and providing more game development updates than usual for WWE 2K22 mainly due to WWE still being upset with them over the debacle regarding WWE 2K20.

WWE 2K22 was officially announced. Media was briefed on the announcement Thursday with an embargo until WrestleMania. The 2K team told us they wanted to be more transparent about the process this time around, and would answer questions they could along the way. In addition, there will be more behind-the-scenes development videos. WWE sources we reached out to say they see this as a way for the producers and developers to be accountable after the last effort of WWE 2K20

I’m watching a video of Lacey Von Erich live streaming from a wrestling convention last week. It’s so fucking awkward and I can’t look away. She’s drunk and apparently knows nothing about wrestling.

Highlights of just the first 10 minutes include her asking Kevin Nash (who is wearing an NWO shirt) “NWO, what’s that? Do you wrestle for them?”, going up to some guy who makes wrestling comic books wearing a British Bulldog shirt and asking him if he was The British Bulldog and noticing Ted Dibiase’s WWE shirt and approaching him with “Hey, WWE! My family helped with that company, what do you think of that? But then they all died.”

Such a great train wreck.

ROH announced they are launching a new Youtube series based on their Women's division.

It will be called ROW Women's Division Wednesdays and debuts on April 28th.

Bit surprised WWE and NXT never bothered to launch their own all-women's show considering they have more than enough women to do their very own brand.

According to the Observer Newsletter, the upcoming Kenny Omega vs. Rich Swann title vs. title match will only be the 2nd time in wrestling history that two world titles from different companies were on the line for a live PPV show in the US.

Would have been the 4th time but two of those matches didn't fit the criteria because of how the matches were handled.

When AEW champion Kenny Omega faces Impact champion Rich Swann in a match with both championships at stake, it will only be the second time on U.S. live PPV that a match with the world champions of two different companies facing off with both belts at stake.

But from an historical standpoint, a similar dynamic drew some of the biggest crowds and were among the most famous matches in history.

The first and only time such a match happened on a live U.S. PPV was on the Superclash III PPV show on December 13, 1989, before just under 2,000 fans in Chicago. Jerry Lawler, the AWA champion, and Kerry Von Erich, the World Class champion wrestled to determine the Unified world champion. Unified being a funny word since the WWF and NWA championships existed on larger television platforms. Lawler won the match via blood stoppage, the unify what could be called the No. 3 and No. 4 world titles in the U.S. market. However, both organizations no longer existed just a few years later.

It’s unlikely, given the ownership of AEW and its television deal, and the ownership of Impact, which outright bought a television station to get them back on the air in a substantial number of homes, the latter part of the pattern will continue.

There were also two matches on WCW PPV shows in 1991 involving Ric Flair and Tatsumi Fujinami, where the IWGP, NWA and WCW belts were all at stake. But the first match was on a taped PPV from Japan, and the rematch was only billed as for the WCW title on the U.S. broadcast.
