A few spots in that match were crazy like the quick counter toss from the top rope to the outside. Dragon Lee came really close landing head first when it happened.

He is awesome. I mean, I am sure creative gave him the angle and idea for the storyarch, but this is where the talent needs to learn to help themselves. He made it into something funny, crazy, but ultimately gave it a dose of reality and made it heartfelt. I cared.
I liked elimination chamber but how many of their stories were "grrrr, I lost...I will take my frustrations out on my opponent"
I want to say, please, give us more emotion in the stories, but I am left feeling...How much of this is Jericho just taking something and running with it?
And who else on the roster is capable enough, or has the license to do it?

Wacky Vince story from not-so-back-in-the-day:
Mick Foley recently appeared on Lilian Garcia's podcast. During the interview, Foley brought up an incident where Vince McMahon yelled at Braun Strowman:
"I was about to go out there a couple weeks ago, and I heard Braun Strowman say, I want a title shot. Mr. McMahon's behind the curtain, at the board watching the monitor, and he goes, oh god, it's not a title shot. I was thinking to myself, then what is it? That's exactly what I would go to call it when I would go out there. You want a title shot? He's like, it's a title match. It's a match! So if you ever wonder what it's like to see a six-foot-eight, three hundred pound behemoth get chewed out, you should've been there."

He's not very graceful. I've had that in the back of my mind for a while. Considering that he can be quite entertaining on the mic, he can transition to becoming Big Cass' mouthpiece (of sorts). I am not sure if they will ever win the tag team titles on RAW.

Also, yeah I'm not really that keen on Enzo.
Like I said before, he has a Scrappy-Doo vibe about him but I'm like many who think he'd be much better as a manager.
His mic skills are really good, but the same can't really be said for his in-ring skills.
Have Enzo be Cass' manager and mouthpiece then a good while down the line, have Enzo turn on Cass and side himself with someone else.
I think that would really help Cass begin his singles run and having Enzo be a bastard to his best friend and turning heel would help Enzo too. I think a heel Enzo as a manager to a big guy would be something special.

Tony Schiavone actually revealed what he considers as "greatest night in the history of our sport" and it turns out to be two night. One being in WWF and the other being in WCW but not for good reason.
What, do you feel, is truly the greatest night in the history of our sport?
Well, I guess for me a lot of it could be pointing out to the final Nitro. Doing Nitro become such a chore and so difficult to do for many reasons, so I was glad it was over. Personally, one of the great nights for me was my first show at the Garden, with Lord Alfred Hayes and Hogan and Bossman in a cage. For me, those are the top two.
Comes from an AMA session he had at r/SquaredCircle recently.

Brother Love liked a few of my tweets!
Which Brother Love? Bruce Prichard or the wrestler with that name that still works the North MS/Memphis area a few times a year?
Last Saturday DIY Mississippi Filmworks and Bodyslam Media Productions went to a Southern Wrestling Alliance show. Was held in a town of 700 people. And they sold 350 tickets.
No names on the card, well no names that are known outside the AL/MS area. But the crowd was into every match. And outside of the main event, every other match was fun. Started off with a fun vet vs vet match. With the face being billed as Free State of Jones Barry Wolf, all because he had a part in the film Free State of Jones. The next two matches were heel vet vs face rookie. With the better of the two going to a 15 minute draw. Then they took an intermission.
After it was over was a street fight. Had Son of JYD Mike Carter vs Marvelous Monty Warbucks. No idea why but on a show with a street fight that the promoter knew was going to go all over the gym, there was no security. So while doing roaming camera for that match I had to also keep the people back.
The main event was just bad. It was a 6 man tag. Face team was
Calvin Rose-The only wrestler worth a fuck in the match.
The Mountain Man-Imagine an even worse Uncle Elmer/Pascagoula Plowboy/Tiny Frazier.
Dream Machine-No clue who this was. I am guessing it was a rookie that they tossed a cheap mask on.
vs
The Assassin-No this isn't any of the known Assassins.Instead it is a fat old guy in a cheap mask.
Black Ranger 1-Was hoping this would be a Power Ranger rip off. Nope just an old fat white dude in b/w camo pants, black t-shirt and a cheap black mask.
Black Ranger 2-Same as Black Ranger 1,but 2 wasn't as fat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoiiihBGkSg
There's the main event.
Anyways besides getting paid for video/commentary work, plus selling a fuckload of DVDs at our gimmick table I managed to make a damn good profit that night.

I get used to it. A good little side account to go with the other viewpoints in professional wrestling. Historically, he gets things very "wrong," but you just take it with the grain that it is. In an interview with Newsweek, Jeff Jarrett and Impact Wrestling President Ed Nordholm spoke about trying to rebuild TNA after the recent troubles the promotion has had. Here are highlights:
Jarrett on TNA’s issues under Dixie Carter last year: “It was a black-eye on the industry. It wasn’t fruitful for anyone—whether you’re a fan of, a wrestler, an employee. It was a really ugly, unfortunate situation. It wasn’t good for the industry.”
Nordholm on Dixie Carter’s not being involved going forward: “The buck has to stop someplace. The reality is the company got into a dire position and she was CEO. There was never any question [she wouldn’t be involved in the day-to-day operations], but not out of any particular animosity. If we’re going to invest…we’re owner-operators, we’re not passive investors. If we’re going to own it, we’re going to own it.”
Think that' the first time someone big from Anthem Sports didn't hold back on saying Dixie was horrible for TNA/Impact Wrestling. Weren't interested in any of her antics to stay in power and wanted an "all or nothing" deal to be made.

You know what? I'd have her do it. Why the fuck not? I always assumed that Ember Moon would win the belt from Asuka at Orlando, but is anyone actually really clamoring for that? You can have her face Nikki Cross and go over, or even just have her beat Ember Moon. Make a big deal out of it and then have her drop the belt later in the year or go up to the main roster undefeated and slide her into the role of being a killer up there too.
Mr. Nerfect

People are going to hate this, but when I was thinking about random shit the WWE could do, I had this idea that they could create their own competition in a more "realistic" sense than what they are doing with the RAW/SmackDown divide. I don't know whether you dig up an old property or have NXT play the role, with the story being that Triple H takes his show on the road or whatever, but you'd try and get a two-hour show on opposite to RAW.
Let's just use "Nitro" because fuck it -- I'm nostalgic for that shit and WWE have heeled themselves to me, so WCW are instant babyfaces in the memory. It could also mean a hilarious Tony Schiavone/Kevin Nash commentary team.
You'd have to commit and make sure Vince actually doesn't get a chance to run it. Whether you have Shane or Triple H take the helm is completely up to you. But maybe you try and work something out with Bravo, which are also owned by NBC Universal, so you aren't going to a different network company. Hopefully by putting forward oranges to the WWE's apples, you can bring back some fans of professional wrestling and move the hardcore audience over and hopefully drive up the focus on RAW.
SmackDown would remain SmackDown and just be what it is, but you can try and get Talking Smack onto the air after it in order to get a bit more money from USA, but on Monday you'd have RAW and Nitro, or whatever you want to call it, on at the same time. I don't know if advertisers would like the idea of people being encouraged to flick, but you can schedule it so commercial breaks are always going to match up or whatever.
If E! loses interest in putting out WWE reality content (which is really helping them at the moment), then you can always try and move those shows to Bravo, which has that reality show thing going on. You can even try and do more original content for them like something that follows The Miz and Maryse or Rusev and Lana as further Total Divas spin-offs.
Anyway, a big goal with having this "WWE competitor" that isn't just part of their extended continuity would be to eventually get back into PPV -- which is not a dead business. They've gone dark on traditional PPV for a while now, but I think that eventually you can go back and have your usual WWE canon "Network Specials" (with WrestleMania being the peak show), but then have this PPV series that exists outside it -- or at least one PPV show that exists as this massive show, not bigger than WrestleMania, but separate to it.
If there is this separate company running around that exists outside traditional WWE, you can exclude them from the Network and have their big shows be sent out via online PPV streaming or something. There must be a way to keep the revenue in-house without simply throwing it into the Network package.
I think it would be great for certain talent too. A guy like Dolph Ziggler could quit, jump ship, go by Nick Nemeth and be less sports entertainmenty. A guy like Cesaro could stop forcing personality out in WWE and go and be Claudio Castagnoli on the other Monday show. The cruiserweights aren't getting over on RAW? Have them jump to this new place and have the angle be that they are sick and tired of being a sideshow attraction at the WWE circus.
In my mind, even if you don't call it WCW, it would have a very WCW-like presentation. It could be aimed at a slightly older audience -- one that might stay up and flick over to that final hour of RAW when they are done. I'd probably keep most of the women exclusive to RAW and SmackDown, and maybe keep the more sports entertainmenty types on those shows too. I doubt a working relationship with them is possible, but having a small amount of crossover with New Japan, as they did with Tyler Breeze and Jushin Liger in NXT, would be awesome. Ideally, I'd have the first match of the first show be Jushin Liger vs. Brian Pillman, Jr. as a throwback to the very first Nitro match.
It's just a pipe-dream, but there are loads of potential benefits to it -- including giving Shane or Triple H some more practice running live television without a safety net. I think it could maximize some talent that have just been exposed so much in one environment, reinvigorate PPV as a revenue stream, generate more revenue from the television deal(s). The biggest obstacle would be it possibly upsetting the USA Network for potentially driving viewers away from RAW to another network; but I'm sure there is a way to frame it that points out that it will ultimately generate higher ratings for RAW, and for stockholders it could be explained like Coca-Cola having Coke and Fanta.

What happens if the new product completely outdoes RAW and Smackdown! though? What if you run your own product into the ground as a result of this project? I see waaay too many holes in this for it to ever feasibly work in the real world. Would be fun as hell though, and I'd be game to see it.
Mr. Nerfect
02-20-2017, 05:33 AM
If it outdoes RAW and SmackDown, then that says something about RAW and SmackDown, doesn't it? I know that isn't a constructive response, haha, but if you are pulling, say, 4 million viewers with this show -- that's not something to cry about. The only way it really damages RAW is if it takes a really large part of RAW's audience and then it doesn't give back. But then you have this new product.
It doesn't really hurt WWE in any way, but I can see that being a hard sell to the USA Network. But if USA doesn't get on board, then you can move RAW to another competing network and maybe get yourself out of the three hour dilemma.
Realistically, I don't think a new show would do that well against it, but it might give WWE another "top rated cable property" which is ultimately a good look for them. It's not likely to knock RAW out of second place or whatever it is. But the idea would hopefully be to eventually grow both show's viewership. Maybe the promise can be that you will eventually get RAW back to 2.0 share with the injected buzz, and that it will be great for both networks and something for cable in general, before digital delivery completely replaces it?
Wishbone
02-20-2017, 05:52 AM
I guess if you had a good enough pitch you might be able to pull something off. Still feel like if it surpassed RAW or even came close Vince would flip his shit and bury it though. Doesn't feel like he'd be at all okay with something overshadowing his baby.

Apparently a British promotion called PCW is currently dealing with some serious backlash in regards to an upcoming memorial show for one of their former wrestlers.
Ended up deceiving people who bought tickets or donated money to the show thinking it was going to the deceased wrestler's family and/or cancer-related charities. Instead they are pocketing all the money and felt they already did enough for the wrestler while he was alive.
A couple wrestlers involved in the show got really upset and are donating their pay from the show to a cancer charity called Cavendish Cancer Care.
So apparently this became an even bigger mess recently because PCW found a new way to piss people off.
WWE's UK signee Pete Dunne promised to donate his wages from the special show to charity and use his own promotion called ATTACK to help raise more money.
PCW for some dumb reason thought it was a wise idea to verbally attack both Dunne and ATTACK because they were donating money to make up for PCW being slimeballs. Dunne pulled out of PCW's memorial show as a result and maybe even future events for the company.

So a lot of Chris Benoit-related promos have appeared in my recommended videos on YouTube... and watching back some of these, I gotta say, Chris Benoit was fucking terrifying!
Knowing how his life ended, and with reports since his death coming out of how he was a backstage bully/part of JBL's hazing crew or what have you... his on-screen intensity, to me anyway, has suddenly shifted to a whole new level.
It's crazy how, even in a scripted promo, legitimately intense and scary he is. How Maven didn't just break down and start crying is amazing. Looking back at any of his promos, they're all so similar. He starts off calm and quiet, and within seconds goes to raging psychopath with veins popping out of his neck and getting right up in people's faces. I can totally understand why people like the Miz were intimidated by him back in the day.
Just thought I'd share that...

Randomly gone back and watched Judgment Day 2000. Man, what an insane PPV.
* The Vince McMahon rallying the troops intro is a cool update on the "run down the card" approach. I'm curious as to know the psychology behind spots like that, given that those watching the PPV have already ordered, but I thought this was creative.
* The six-man tag opener is a lot of fun. Kurt Angle had such good chemistry with Edge & Christian. The match has these cool little spots that stick out in your mind. Too Cool were so fucking over. It's silly without being over the top. It feels like a bunch of guys trying to get one over the others and never does anything like "slow motion."
* The simple story of Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn being a bit pissed off with Eddie Guerrero for having a new girlfriend goes down well. I can't put this into context with television, but it doesn't feel like they hate anyone but Chyna. You can buy them as buddies fighting looking to get away with a title. The story of them all trying each others' moves was cute too, but I don't think the crowd completely got it.
* I really enjoyed Shane McMahon vs. The Big Show. I never really got into Show, but there's something, in retrospect, that I like about Shane being pissed off at Show for losing at Mania and making fun of his coping mechanism of having fun. It "lights a fire" under Show. The spot where Show tossed Shane into the logo on the stage is hilarious. They worked well together. The string of heels coming out makes sense given the context of the match. It feels like this was done to write off Big Show, but he actually looked pretty good for a big slobbering giant. We may have been conditioned to that by Show's later career. It's weird to think of this period as a time where Show was flopping, but he actually looks really good.
* Benoit vs. Jericho was a really good Intercontinental Championship match. I've seen it before, but I forgot they did the "pass out in the hold" spot outside of Austin/Bret. It feels like a really protected finish and there is a lot of shine put on Jericho here. It feels like they really did expect him to be big.

* Gerald Brisco walking around as Hardcore Champion is genuinely funny. It tells a show-long story too. It allowed them to get creative without getting too cute in actual matches. I had forgotten how fun some of that stuff around that belt was.
* Shawn Michaels interacting with The Rock is a gem.
* I don't really get why they distract the referee in the Tables Match. Whatever. Bubba Ray surprisingly good worker even then. X-Pac is really good. I forget why X-Pac Heat was a thing. Dude is playing his part perfectly. He takes a vicious powerbomb through the table. Road Dogg is a lot better than I remember too. Man, today's guys pale in comparison to these dudes. I completely forgot about the spot where they toss Mike Chiota through the table. For some reason this doesn't come off as stupid, but rather plays up the heat these two teams have. It also builds off "rules" being enforced earlier. Well put together match with a clever ending that made you want to see these teams fight more. I forgot about Brisco taking the 3D through the table. Fucking legend.
* Jim Ross is an amazingly good announcer.
Mr. Nerfect

* The video for the Iron Man Match is genuinely getting me hyped. It helps that I don't have 2000 recorded to memory, so I don't actually remember exactly where the belt switches and such, but placing myself as a fan heading into it, I would have been genuinely excited at the time because I am watching it back. I would have been so hungry for an HBK return though.
Mr. Nerfect
02-22-2017, 05:59 AM
* Triple H genuinely great in the build, it seems. What comes across in this time is how verbal he was. That added to his character and made him stand out. He was a villain who would talk a lot of shit in a roundabout way -- and it would equate to great heat! He's telling The Rock all the ways he'll take a victory and The Rock is just like "Bring it" over and over again, because The Rock -- great talker we remember him being -- is all about walking the walk.
* Triple H and Shawn Michaels not discussing the match and JR catching that. Triple H threatening Shawn Michaels' future if he does not call the match "as it should be called." Fuck, this is brilliant. Triple H alluding to it being called in his favor, but totally acting like a bad-ass that wants it down the middle all at the same time. The build for this is genuinely brilliant.
* Triple H sending Vince, Shane and Stephanie to the back because this is between him and The Rock and that he wants to beat The Rock in front of the "people." This dude is so sleazy, it's great. I used to think that Owen Hart or Brian Pillman could be in this position if they were still alive and active in this point in time -- and while I think they could be a different story of heel -- this is definitely Triple H as Triple H.
* Relating this to the modern day, I can't help but think this is the sort of heel that a Seth Rollins or Kevin Owens should have been as champion. Sending Triple H to the back and wanting to prove that they want to get this done on their own -- even if it's bullshit. Everyone is subservient these days. Triple H was allowed to have brass balls -- even if they were detachable. Vince McMahon showing great ass on PPV by letting himself get sent away. I couldn't see Daddy H doing that.

The Iron Man Match is really well put together. Triple H showing signs of doubt at the beginning was brilliant. It did lull in parts with Rock on offence and when they kept going back to the sleeper hold, but the psychology of the falls was well planned out. When they get everybody out for the last 3:00? Wow, they jammed that daddy full. The ending is a bit "stupid." Taker showing up randomly and Chokeslamming people seemed like a cool moment when I first saw it, but I would have been expecting an Undertaker heel turn coming out of that given how he basically handed Triple H the title.

Goldberg almost exclusively wrestled in singles matches during the streak according to profightdb, only exceptions were one tag match where he and Nash beat Hogan / Big Show and he was also involved in a mini battle royale, which he also won.

Kreski's extensive use of storyboards was mocked by many in the WWF during his tenure, but they enabled him to achieve a high degree of continuity in his storylines, which began to devolve into semi-coherence following his departure.

In defense of the criticism, Kreski was one of the first "writers" of WWF television. Before that you had Russo and Ferrera, but before that it was Vince, Prichard and Cornette, and before that it was Vince and Patterson or whatever. Shows weren't as mapped out, they were generally "booked."
Given that they are in things now, it would nice if they had this sort of planning though. It would also be nice if it did still fall into the lap of one man's vision to smash against Vince's -- as opposed to a team of people all with different goals and ideals.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves in wrestling. It ALWAYS takes me out. I don't mind two former rivals teaming up for the sake of a match -- wins and losses matter and you don't always get to draw who you want as a partner when it comes to the matchmaker trying to put on a good show -- but at least fucking acknowledge the heat between you.
For some reason, a giant tag team match where Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio were two participants on the babyface side REALLY bothered me. It's not even the most egregious example, but I remember it bothering me because the feud between Cody and Rey stood out in my mind so much, since they don't really do feuds like that anymore.
It made me reflect on not only the WWE's lack of continuity, but their lack of heated rivalries. It was a double-whammy in taking me right out.

When Seth Rollins first turned on the Shield I was hoping it would somehow turn out that he was actually a mole the Shield was planting in the Authority to take them down from within.
I wanted the three of them to always be best buds and they'd all turn face/heel together. Now they probably will be portrayed as best buds anyway but it's completely retconning Seth's 2+ year heel run.

From the Observer:
- Styles was apparently supposed to take the fall in the triple threat with Wyatt and Cena, but Cena pushed and got it changed to him taking the fall instead.

Hardys TNA contract is up within 5 days and WWE are said to be very interested, but they haven't signed anywhere officially yet.

WWE seems quite taken on the broken gimmick considering they tried to emulate the Final Deletion, so either way they'll probably get broken eventually.

Zandig is a stupid yard tard. Norton is a God amongst men. Norton could stuff Zandig into his glove compartment.

It helps makes Bray, it should have been the decision right off the bat.

And not only that, but Cenas going away after Mania for a while, so it's best to keep AJ strong too.
Still, glad Cena has that level of insight these days. Wish he had it when he was squashing the Nexus.

I was training with Kurt Hawkins and Joe Hennig. After our workout, me and Kurt were chopping it up about great independent wrestlers. I said "Dude I just saw this guy last night on YouTube named Kill Steen or something like that. He's amazing." Kurt said, "That's my good friend Kevin Owens".
Damn.
Poor Hawkins. :(

Is he just going by the name Tozawa now?
If so, then it would keep to the small trend the WWE has of dropping first names beginning with A.
Adrian, Alexander, Antonio and now potentially Akira.

While it didn't start with an "A", even Bayley had her first name of "It's" get dropped in recent weeks.
Somethign about Vince hating wrestlers with 2 names or if the first name doesn't sound as macho as the last name.
