While I enjoyed the ending of Wrestlemania XX, I didn't digest the "Benoit's 15-year odyssey" line by Ross since he had already won the same belt in its previous incarnation.

I was such a mark back then, I remember thinking Benoit left WCW because he was scared of Nash and the nWo 2000.
Kinda funny watching it though, seeing the "emotion" in Benoit when he wins the title, when even he is thinking "fuck this I'm out of here".

I feel like NWA should really try to rebuild their brand and, maybe not compete with WWE but become a viable second option. They've got the history that other companies suffer from when they try to claim prestige for their titles. Hell, WWE even has to acknowledge them and give them free promotion when talking about their own history a lot. I feel like there's some way where their territory system could actually work to build a national product even in this day and age. I'm just not sure how. Also, they'd probably have to ignore the last few decades completely...
I've wanted to see the NWA do this for ages. There actually seems to be somewhat of a stir around alternative products (although they do seem to have trouble finding homes), and the NWA could easily be at the forefront of that.
I often wonder as to who they could make their "travelling champion." Matt Morgan would have been good when he first left TNA. Shelton Benjamin often pops into my mind. I think they need someone with a little bit of name recognition that could hold the belt for a while and not get stale.

For what it's worth, Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live today that Vince McMahon is apparently "freaking out" about the decline in WWE TV ratings, something that usually happens every year around this time. WWE usually makes some kind of big change when Vince is "freaking out" about the ratings.
This week's RAW episode not getting the usual post-ppv bump and hitting a new low ended up being the WWE's breaking point for the problem.
@LAWradio
WWE announces that Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Steve Austin, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels will be on the 10/19 episode of Raw in Dallas
Expect some interesting changes in January when it comes to Smackdown. As one would expect, they are looking for a new look to the show once they debut on USA and some new ideas for the show. I expect it’ll be like whenever they have a new change, that they load the show up with main events for the first two months. The usual is that once it stops becoming that new toy, it then gradually becomes a show at the level of what it has been.
This week’s NXT call in the women’s division is to slow down on Eva Marie and build Asuka and Dana Brooke for Bayley after they stop bringing back people from the main roster for the big shows like with Banks on the next Takeover show. They’ve built a rep of having the great women’s title matches in the brand, and are hopeful Bayley vs. Asuka can continue that, and also hope Eva, Brooke and Alexa Bliss, who they want to be the stars of the division, can improve to where they can also have good matches with Bayley
On the hunt for a Latino star front, WWE made an approach to Carlito, but apparently the money offer was low so he didn’t take it, although they were under the impression he would take it with a better money offer. They wanted him back as part of whatever repackaging they are going to do with Los Matadores that has been talked about but not finalized
Regarding the Jeff Jarrett TNA ownership, before the deal that was concluded, he owned 29 percent of the company. At least some talent was told for the first time this past week about the proposed India tour, and given the dates of 11/29 to 12/5 and told to keep them free. This would be TV tapings that would take care of much of December and January, up either to the U.K. tour or pretty close to it. The final actual new full episode of Impact that was taped as a show is on 9/30, and then they’ll have to put together makeshift shows from there.
Basically while TNA got a bit of a break from Destination America, they actually have nothing planned post-September for Impact/booking.
Bruce Tharpe, who runs the NWA and is a heel manager in New Japan, had a meeting with Spike TV in New York about getting on the station. Spike officials have told us there is interest in bringing back pro wrestling but nothing is on the table right now. They told Tharpe basically the same thing, that right now they aren’t making the move. We’re told they are trying to run new shows that have more appeal to women than pro wrestling. Tharpe said he’s looking at other options for television.
The lawyer for Thomas Latimer (Bram) attempted to get the no contact rule against him changed to no harmful contact, which would allow him to move back to the apartment he was living in with girlfriend Ashley Allen, but it was turned down. However, the court did allow him to travel overseas between 10/6 and 11/5 for work.
Before Sting suffered an injury in his match against Seth Rollins at the Night of Champions event on Sunday, the plan was for him to face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 32. As of this writing, there is no indication yet on Sting's future as an in-ring competitor. Normally when someone over the age of 50 steps into a WWE ring and gets injured, the company is against the idea of bringing them back.
Three names in mind for possible opponents for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 include Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman or John Cena. From a booking standpoint, Rollins is the top heel of the company and it would make a lot more sense to put this match togeher. As for Cena, officials feel that a match between the two would be good because it's never been done on a big stage since Cena established himself as the top star of the company.
Four names are being considered as possible opponents for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32. Those names are Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, The Rock and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Reigns is said to be a viable option because the two have history, however WWE may also be grooming Reigns for the title picture around that time. As for Rollins, the idea would be for the match against Lesnar to be for the WWE Championship, but that would only take place if Rollins still has the title around that time. WWE had plans for The Rock to face Lesnar back in 2014, however those plans were scrapped after The Rock suffered injuries in his match at WrestleMania 29. As for Austin, he has ruled out the match multiple times after it was teased on his WWE Network special with Paul Heyman, but his name continues to still be brought up.
Since you like working in front of American crowds, could you see yourself leaving Japan and working in America, whether it's for ROH, WWE, or someone else?
I like doing the shows with Ring of Honor, but I don't want to leave Japan. I'm not interested in WWE at all. Many people ask me about WWE, and if I'd go to WWE in the future. They ask me if I'm going now. I will not go. I want to make New Japan Pro-Wrestling bigger. That's my future.
New Japan is getting more popular in the United States. Could you ever seeing it having a live weekly show here, like Raw?
Yes, that's why I'm in New Japan. I'm the one that can bring that.

I used to love the idea of Carlito being a constant thorn in Cena's side. Not his main event rival or anything (although he could eventually get there), but as someone just waiting for Cena to slip on a banana peel. Loved it when he crashed that Cena promo heading into TLC 2009.

Hearing that the NWA was trying to get on Spike is interesting. I'd love to Spike get back into the wrestling game. TNA had a good platform there that they squandered. Personally, I think the WWN would be the best bet to put on there -- maybe do an hour of Dragon Gate USA and then an hour of EVOLVE.

I wonder whats going on with MG HURST...!
We haven't seen him on TWA and he wasn't at TH BASH or at ONE NIGHT ONLY....A fan confronted TWA about the status of MG HURST on YouTube and heres what TWA said...
We are unable to answer that at this time, please continue to tune in though!
???
What in the world is going on?
I hope MG HURST is still with TWA...I mean if he wasn't, theyd probably have released him like they did with Mason Brooks. I wouldn't be surprised if MG Hurst and TWA cant come to terms on they're agreement...but TWA doesn't want to let MG Hurst go because hes such a big star...
But you never know...Mason Brooks was getting prime time and TWA released him.
Maybe theres conflict between TWA original management and the real deal management since they merged? Mason Brooks was a real deal original and MG Hurst is another Real Deal founder superstar...
I hope MG Hurst stays...really want to see him mix things up with somebody like Kidd Ink or Zach Snow...
What do u folks thing about this?
Probably testing out for WWE.

Cody Rhodes is planning to make his first WWE appearance in almost a year and a half at NXT Takeover: Respect according to this interview released today.
It's great though that you ask, because the Dusty Rhodes tag tournament taking place in NXT is something he would really be proud of because of all the platforms it gives to talent, including independent talent that came in for a shot to win the Dusty Rhodes tag tournament. I will actually be there myself, (as) me — for the first time a while on WWE programming — Cody Rhodes and my brother will be there to present the trophy, which I'm looking forward to seeing.

It would have been tacky — would have been tacky, and it wouldn’t have been genuine. Many years ago, I used to watch RAW with my dad, and we watched Nitro, and we watched the pay-per-views. Many years ago, there was a wrestler who passed away, and his name was used pretty regularly after that on programming. People were using it to try draw the adulation of fans. Everyone was saying, “Oh, well such and such who passed away would have loved this.” And (my father) told me, and this is something very few people know, “When I go don’t ever let anybody say that about me. I left my body of work on the table already and it doesn’t need to be expanded.” And I never forgot that. So there was never any question on who was coming back.
Same interview on why the Stardust gimmick wasn't dropped after Dusty's death.
During an appearance on WNS Podcast, Mark Henry revealed that he would like to retire in dramatic fashion. Here's what the World's Strongest Man said:
"I think that I want to go out in dramatic fashion. Win, lose or draw I want to have a retirement match and a lot of guys have done it throughout history and I’m going to go back and kind of see what style of match. Maybe even let the WWE Universe decide what my match will be. I’m not sure yet but it’s imminent. It’s coming."
He continued, "Daniel Bryan is one of my favourite wrestlers. As a talent, as an entertainer, the way our fans love and revere him. There’s never been a match he and I have been in where it was bad. He is one that I would definitely like to consider. He’s been gone a long time dealing with injuries and I know how that feels and I know that somebody like Daniel with his credentials would be really really cool."

Last week’s RAW match between Sasha Banks and Paige is said to have been asked to ‘go home’ early as the referee took a call following the nasty looking german suplex spot from Paige on Banks.
Sasha was supposedly tested for concussion backstage. Following that match, Sasha hasn’t been seen in action and even at the Night of Champions PPV, she was backstage as part of Team B.A.D, keeping a close eye on the Divas title match between NikKi Bella and Charlotte.
Apparently there was a Wrestler’s Court thing that happened on 9/19 before the TV tapings. WWE used to do it where somebody would be accused of stuff and put on a trial, where if they were guilty, maybe they had to buy beer for everyone or something like that. It was for ref Gino Colucci, and the charges were really minor stuff. B.J. Whitmer was the judge and I believe Elgin served as the defense attorney and Colucci ended up cleared of anything. However, CEO Joe Koff found out about it and issued a very strong statement to never do it again, particularly before a taping feeling that the wrestlers at that point should be concentrating on their performances.
An announcement was made at the Tokyo Game Show 2015 (Japan’s biggest video game and card game convention) that New Japan has finally acquired the merchandise rights to Jushin Liger. Jushin Liger was a Japanese comic book character in the 80s, just like Tiger Mask was originally a comic book and children’s cartoon character in the 70s. Go Nagai, who created the character, owned the merchandise rights. New Japan after 25 years negotiated a deal where they now own the Jushin Liger character.
Lucha Underground sent out the following today, announcing that they have officially released Shawn Hernandez. You may remember that Hernandez was the center of controversy when he showed up on Impact while still under a contact to Lucha Underground. Lucha Underground enforced their contractual rights (Hernandez had told TNA that he was released and free to work for them), and TNA ended up having to scrap several segments from Impact that were already recorded. In the fallout, MVP was also released by TNA as he had suggested that the company bring in Hernandez to be part of the BDC faction…
Mick Foley posted the following on Facebook last night, stating that he thinks WWE needs to push Cesaro. Here is what he posted…
TWO WORDS: PUSH CESARO
Last night, I was asked a simple question during the Q&A part of my show in Philadelphia: “if you were in charge of ?#?WWE?, what one change would you make?” I gave a simple answer. Push Cesaro. I’m not trying to create controversy or be a pain in WWE’s neck – but the recent treatment of this guy on TV is downright baffling to me. Besides, as long as I said it, and it will be reported on (which I’m pretty sure it will be) you might as well read it here first. I know Steve Austin has been an enthusiastic Cesaro supporter. Maybe he needs a little bit of help. Maybe my opinion will mean something. Maybe yours will too. Tell me about your favorite Cesaro – WWE match. Give this post a like and a comment. Maybe even share it – and we’ll see if a few thousand comments on the Foley Facebook page (which I KNOW the WWE front-office reads) might make a difference.

I'm guessing that the vast majority of the work will be handled by Kane and Harper.
That said, I like the idea in that Taker works with Harper and be like "can I face this guy at Mania, instead?" I feel like Taker would have the pull to make it happen, should he want to.

Strowman obviously needs to work to get better, but I also feel like he needs to be kept away from being overexposed in matches. House shows are fine for him, because not as many people will see what he can do. On television, I'd rather see him be the tank on the outside, helping out the more active evil minds in Wyatt & Harper.
Plus, if Strowman is kept out of the ring, it can build intrigue as to just what the guy can do, so if it comes time to have him turn on The Family, he can get quite a pop going out on his own. It's building the potential energy until you can turn it into kinetic.

I've seen it mentioned around the place that Taker is apparently a big supporter of Harper's, and was interested in working with him. To be honest, Taker vs. Harper at WrestleMania would actually intrigue me. It also plays off the story from WrestleMania last year between Wyatt and Taker. Put Strowman in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and maybe even have him win that.
Undertaker vs. John Cena is a bigger match, however, and I'd be all for that. Part of me is thinking that if it happens, they should probably make it for the title. Cena wins the title from Rollins at some point, Taker then wins the Rumble and heads into a final date of destiny against Cena -- who possibly turns heel to retain the belt.

You'd think that the WWE would have to be interested in signing pretty much all of The Bullet Club right now. If they ever did come in, I'd like them to turn against Finn Balor in a main event title match against John Cena. The Young Bucks could strip off their Bullet Club t-shirts and reveal a new John Cena design, in bright colors, with "Hustle, Loyalty and Respect John Cena" written on the front. The Cena hand-signal on the back would be replaced with the Kliq hand-gesture.

I'm kind of wanting Eric Bischoff back on a TV screen. Not with any sort of backstage power, mind you, but I feel that his on-screen presence would just help things for some reason.
I'd like to see him appointed by the USA Network as the man to take over SmackDown and ready it for the big transition in 2016. He takes a whole bunch of guys and makes them "SmackDown exclusive." Guys like Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Charlotte (maybe even dropping the Divas Title in the garbage and declaring herself the new Women's Champion), Emma, Big Show and even Fandango, denouncing the gimmick.
Part of me wouldn't mind seeing a WCW brand returning, but it feels labored and kind of hokey at this point; but something to shake things up like Eric Bischoff getting SmackDown would be kind of interesting and could lead to some exciting format changes for the show.
Mr. Nerfect

Another wacky idea I had: After losing the Steel Cage US Title match to John Cena in Madison Square Garden, imagine if The Authority stripped Seth Rollins of the WWE World Title. You could have Kane be the one to do it, but even Triple H or Stephanie McMahon would make sense. Their reason being that the WWE Champion is meant to be the highest ranked wrestler in the world, but Rollins has not lost three straight times to John Cena, clearly making the US Title the #1 goal in WWE.
Sure, stripping the title off a guy that's perfectly healthy seems like a counter-productive move, but it might move fan sympathy behind Rollins more than anything else they are doing with him has been. Plus, he's pretty much heatless as a heel right now. Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and the face disposition announcers could get behind the idea of Rollins never actually losing the title -- with JBL being the guy who takes The Authority's "He had his chance and he kept losing" stance.
The Authority would go to hand John Cena the title belt, but he doesn't want to be handed anything (although Cena accepting it would be a huge dick move and a starting point to Rollins challenging Cena for the title at WrestleMania). The title would be held up (without the word "abeyance" thrown around so much), and Hell in a Cell sees Lesnar vs. Taker, a US Title match, Kane vs. Rollins and The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield & Randy Orton as the major attractions -- a pretty stacked card really. Maybe you can bring back the Deadly Games tournament for Survivor Series to crown the new champion? Or have tournament semi-finals and finals, with Triple H and Seth Rollins having a high-profile match of their own.
Mr. Nerfect
09-26-2015, 07:09 PM
Alternatively, if they go with Rollins vs. Kane for the World Title, I think this would be a good place for Sheamus to cash-in. Doing it mid-match seems to be the en vogue thing to do, so Sheamus could come out as Kane looks like he's about to win, and put The Demon down with a Brogue Kick. He hands over the briefcase as the announcement is made. Kane then sits up. Sheamus beats on Kane some more, but ends up getting Chokeslammed, but then Rollins low blows Kane (it now being legal due to Triple Threat rules), and Rollins finishes off Kane to keep the title.
Unless we do want to save Sheamus' cash-in for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I'd rather the Authority anoint Reigns as the man, screwing Rollins out of the belt at the Rumble to build to a Lesnar Reigns rematch after Lesnar rips through the Rumble.
Meanwhile, Rollins challenges Hunter, Cena goes against Taker, Wyatt gets Sting if the Stinger can go, and you've got four main event level matches.
If he's healthy, a chasing Daniel Bryan trying to reclaim the Intercontinental title from heel douche bag Owens is a good midcard match.
I'm pretty sure Foley is done, but how awesome would a New Day v Rock n Sock Connection tag title match be?
I'm kind of wanting Eric Bischoff back on a TV screen.
And better than ever?

.Part of me wouldn't mind seeing a WCW brand returning, but it feels labored and kind of hokey at this point; but something to shake things up like Eric Bischoff getting SmackDown would be kind of interesting and could lead to some exciting format changes for the show.
Wish so much that Smackdown would become WCW International
And bring back the WCW International Heavyweight Championship as the main title for the brand.v

Has anyone been watching Xavier Wood's UpUpDownDown show? It's pretty awesome and fun to watch 'em all kicking back and having fun out-of-character. Sandow is hilarious with his raps, and the Street Fighter tournament which ended with one of the Usos getting pelted with a tennis ball was brilliant.

All of that would work really well. Good job. :y:

Summerslam set to stay in New York till at least 2017.
After a successful weekend of wrestling in Brooklyn earlier this year, WWE will be bringing SummerSlam back to the Barclays Center in both 2016 and 2017, as first reported by the New York Daily News.
The WWE agreed with both Barclays Center and NYC & Company to not only host SummerSlam, but also NXT Takeover and Monday Night RAW — much like earlier this year. The schedule for next year reads as follows:
Saturday, August 20 – NXT Takeover
Sunday, August 21 – WWE SummerSlam
Monday, August 22 – Monday Night Raw
Las Vegas and Los Angeles both made bids to host the event next year before the WWE decided on staying in New York.

This Monday’s episode of WWE RAW recorded 3.333 million viewers. This number is down from last week’s 3.349 million viewers. The official numbers are listed below according to hour.
RAW Hour 1: 3.476 million viewers
RAW Hour 2: 3.326 million viewers
RAW Hour 3: 3.188 million viewers
New record low for the 3 Hour era. In terms of yearly numbers, 700k less viewers compared to same week last year.
In what seems to be a weekly pattern this fall, the September 28, 2015 episode of Raw set another record low, drawing 3.32 million viewers last night. With the exception of a Christmas Eve show in 2012, it was the lowest viewership for an episode of the show since 1997.
Correspondents at last night's RAW event sent word that WWE did not show the matches to the live audience on the big titantron screen during the show, but instead displayed a gigantic RAW logo.
This could have been the reason why the crowd was noticeably dead at last night's show because very few fans could see the matches and/or what was going on most of the time. A majority of the fans were standing up, which made visibility even worse, especially if you were seated behind fans with signs.
Been a recent trend the past couple of weeks with the feed on the big screen getting cut off for those in cheap/bad seats.
According to F4WOnline.com, last night’s WWE Raw storyline featuring Kane being evaluated by HR was actually inspired by real-life events in the company and the Bill DeMott controversy from earlier in the year.
As noted, the woman who played “HR Ashley” was in fact Ashley Osterrieder and she is the actual director of human resources at WWE headquarters.
During an interview with Channel Guide Magazine, Paige talked about why she decided to drop a pipebomb promo. Here's what the former WWE Divas Champion said:
“I felt like the whole ‘Divas Revolution’ thing started to get stale,” she said. “I thought it definitely needed a kick in the ass a little bit. Vince [McMahon] and our writers were so cool with the promo. They definitely gave me the freedom to say what I wanted. I kept it as tame as possible. I wanted to go a little bit harder, but I thought, ‘Nah, I’ll save it.’
“It was definitely an adrenaline rush. I wanted to be the bad guy and am happy to be the bad guy. I don’t mind being hated. But the crowd was so receptive to it and great. They were cheering most of it. I was like, ‘No, that’s not the way it was supposed to be.’ It was great. I was very nervous before doing it. I just wanted to get out there and kick some butt and light a fire under the ‘Divas Revolution’ again.”
“I feel like that a ‘Pipe Bomb,’ or ‘Paige Bomb’ as I call it, is what was needed. Now a team has split up and everyone is going for everyone, which is great. I’m looking forward to seeing where everyone else goes.”
She also explained why she thought the Divas division need a spark:
“It was cool the first couple of nights with the NXT girls coming up,” she said. “It was something new and fresh. Then we kind of went back to this stale state of having tag matches. We weren’t telling a story. Where was this going? With the whole Charlotte and Nikki [Bella] story, it was similar to me and Nikki. People were complaining about that.”
Scott Fishman has a new article online for Channel Guide Magazine featuring quotes from Nikki Bella to promote the season finale of Total Divas, which promotes Dolph Ziggler saying he still has feelings for her. Below are highlights from the piece.
Regarding the hate that gets spewed in her direction:
“I ignore it,” Bella said.
“Even though I see the hate on social media, and it shocks me. It shocks me the rumors people start, that I have the title because of my boyfriend. If that was the case I would have gotten the title when I came back years ago and still had the title. He has nothing to do with it. He has nothing to do with anyone’s story or anything like that. He has zero pull. We talk about it all the time because it’s funny how people say that.
“I think where it started was for a year AJ had a voice on WWE TV and all of us on ‘Total Divas’ didn’t. Then Vince [McMahon] didn’t want the title on any ‘Total Divas’ member because he didn’t know how it would transition on Sunday night and Monday in case there was a title change and the show was airing.
“So for a year she got her run through all the girls. I was the only one she really didn’t. She got to say these things that weren’t true, but we didn’t get to speak back. So I felt like that is where the perception of Brie and I really started. She said things like we came back for reality show and all this stuff. It was all untrue. While this is happening, I’m working twice as hard to be better and improve my craft to become the next diva’s champion.”
Hate because of who she dates:
“There is a part of me where it hurts my heart a little bit. I give these fans everything I have. I give them my personal life. I give them my body. I give them everything I can weekly, and that is what they say back? So it’s sad to me. I hope one day they can look back and say, ‘Wow. She actually did try hard and wasn’t a bad wrestler. She is here for the right reasons, and it has nothing to do with her boyfriend.’
“I get it. When you are on a reality show that is top rated and dating this successful man who is in the same business as you are and you have a twin sister who is married to someone in the business who happens to be successful, I think that is where I get the hate. They say I have it all, but I have worked for every single bit of what I have. It took me almost nine years to have that championship and have a decent run. Not only that but if I didn’t really put my life out there and gave it my all, the [Total Divas’] could have failed. We wouldn’t have gone past season one. I give every day of my life to that show. So hopefully one day they will be grateful that I’m doing it for all of them.”
Dirtsheets at the time teased the original plans for AJ's "pipe bomb" promo was meant to lead to something big before getting scrapped because a few people complained backstage. Been assumed it was the Bellas since they were visibly upset during the promo itself and lashed out a bit on social media after the show.
According to the most recent report from the Wrestling Observer, there are currently plans in place for The Rock to be a participant in what is supposed to be one of the biggest cards of all-time, and his opponent will be none other than Triple H.
This is something that has been teased a few times, including at this past WrestleMania in Santa Clara, California. He was involved in an altercation with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and he enlisted the services of Ronda Rousey to help him. This led people to believe that we could see a mixed tag at WrestleMania 32, but that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer. Not to mention, it doesn’t seem all that plausible that Rousey will be there at all in any capacity.
Supposedly Rock recently rejected the idea of facing Brock as a possible match option for Mania. Rousey is busy with a film that's being made around the same time as the Road to Mania and Mania 32.
It appears as if former NWO and DX member Sean "X-Pac" Waltman sustained a potentially serious injury this weekend while wrestling at an indy event. Waltman posted a photo, saying that he was going to have to get an MRI on his arm, speculating that be may have a torn bicep and pec. Former TNA Champion Magnus took to Twitter to wish Waltman a speedy recovery, and note that X-Pac put the fans first and continued wrestling.
The Next WWE Home Video Planned for 2016 – ‘True Story of Royal Rumble’ DVD & Blu-Ray
The title is showing right now on WWE’s Home Video schedule as in the works for next year, planned as a 3 disc DVD and 2 disc Blu-ray – with a documentary main feature!
One personality who is sure to show up in that documentary is WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson, credited as inventing the Royal Rumble match concept. The 30-man classic is close to 30 years old, dating all the way back to January 1988 and still going strong to this day.
Expect to see some Rumble-themed extras in addition to the main portion, in a similar format to “The True Story of WrestleMania” DVD and Blu-ray released by the company in 2011.
According to Christopher Daniels' agent, The Addiction will be in this year's NJPW Global Tag League, beginning 11/21

Rumor regarding Hornswoggle's Wellness suspension was he didn't test positive for a banned substance but wasn't able to provide a piss sample in the required 3 hour window given for the test. Ended up failing due to a technicality as a result.

Apparently Daniel Bryan has been cleared for months now by outside doctors but WWE is being incredibly cautious. If they do decide to let him step back in the ring and stall til after Mania it would be such a dumb fucking waste. I wanna see them bring the "I'm cleared and I wanna wrestle!" "Nope, not gonna happen." story to the show and have it build for months before he finally somehow gets a WrestleMania match. Maybe for the IC Title against Owens like Damian Rey said. With the right long build, it could be a HUGE fucking match and put the IC title on display in a major way.
Assuming they wanna take a wait and see approach with Bryan when he comes back, I might even have Owens ruin the party by picking up the shocking win. It would stretch the story out past Mania with The Authority garnering more heat on Bryan by saying "I told you so" and it would make Owens look more badass by robbing the fans' markout moment. It would also bring up the IC title more by having Owens look like a world-beater with it.

I wouldn't have minded them dropping the titles to The Real Americans or something, but The New Age Outlaws were definitely the wrong way to go. I think that at some point, The Usos should have gotten the titles and Rhodes & Goldust could have turned heel on them without the Stardust gimmick and it would have been hot. Alas.

Apparently Madusa/Alundra is not a fan of the current Divas Revolution angle. The rant came from a recent post on her Instagram account and went off on a few people involved in the storyline.
#Justmyopinion I believe at about half way through this promo, (which was a bad ass promo) the moment and #mood miss @thenikkibella was in, she heard my name being yelled from the audience on #wwe #mondaynightraw and threw up her hand, as I threw up in my mouth to just ignore the fact the forever existence of #AlundraBlayze IS the REAL REVOLUTIONARY That started this #revolution #willneverevergoaway Not to mention #pipebomb #you’renotAJ @realpaigewwe calling the @wwenxt championship “The” women’s championship….. Meh! Well let’s just call it like I see it…. Most of you are over rated! Half of you cannot wrestle, some just sound illiterate as soon as you open your pie hole, all so disrespectful . If I were you all I would be watching your back! You never know who @natbynature might show up with just to bitch slap a few across the face for a receipt! Oh and where in the hell is #teambad #tobusywithglowsticks and things that #glowinthedark as far as I am concerned @charlottewwe and @wwebeckylynch have it going on at the moment ! As noted, Vince McMahon has not been happy with the recently low Raw ratings trend, and according to The Wrestling Observer, after the low rating came in for the 9/21 edition of Raw, Vince put enormous pressure on the creative team, even more pressure than the previous two weeks.
This week’s Raw rating came in at a record low, so you can imagine how upset Vince was when he was made aware of the number. Vince has been known to make major changes to the WWE product when he begins panicking about the ratings, and one move he’s made for next week is to bring Brock Lesnar in for the show.
This e-mail incident really did happen, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It turns out Dixie sent an e-mail to several unintended recipients. Whoever she was sending it to, the e-mail was mostly Dixie complaining about how Discovery doesn't send out information on the +3 ratings, since Impact Wrestling usually does 15% to 20% more viewers when DVR viewership over the following 3 days after it airs is factored in.
Dixie reportedly called Graboff some negative names in the e-mail and took a shot at his intelligence in some way. Besides the intended recipients, Dixie also sent the e-mail to Destination America Group President Harvey Schlieff and several other Discovery executives. Schlieff responded to Dixie and said he was sorry she felt that way about Graboff. Graboff was also copied on the e-mails, apparently by Schlieff so he could see what was happening. Obviously this did not go over well with the network and likely added to the problems that the ratings had brought on.
Update to the TNA email incident that likely played a big role in getting them kicked off of Destination America.
MLW Radio revealed on Twitter that a major cable network is currently working on an exposé piece on WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka. As noted, Snuka was arrested on September 1st for the 1983 death of then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino. He is currently facing third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter charges. MLW tweeted:
We can confirm a Jimmy Snuka expose is in the works for a major cable network. No information on who is being interviewed or when it airs.

On when he found out Seth Rollins would be turning against The Shield:
"Day of."
On a possible Shield Reunion:
"It's tough because I enjoy what I'm doing now. I enjoy being a singles guy. I enjoy commanding the stage with myself and an opponent. It's a different process when you're teammates. Especially with the way we work. We're very unselfish with how we work together in so many different regards. Not just what you see as the final product of the match. Just strategizing, psychology, teamwork. What made us so empowering is that we helped each other and we always looked out for each other and you didn't see that in wrestling too often. Even in factions, it's a very individual game, but The Shield, we were just iron-clad brothers in black. We made it more about the group than anything. I miss that. I miss that camaraderie."
On winning back the fans who turned against him at the beginning of the year:
"It's been a work in progress. The crowd is the crowd. You're gonna take them as an individual performer how you take them. The key is how do you learn from them. How do you use whatever is happening reaction-wise to get better."

NWA President Bruce Tharpe, who also works as a heel manager in New Japan Pro Wrestling, recently had a meeting with Spike TV officials in New York City about getting one of the world’s oldest pro wrestling brands on the network.
Spike officials have stated there is some interest in bringing back pro wrestling but nothing is on the table right now, for the NWA or any other promotion. Tharpe was basically told the same thing, that right now Spike isn’t making any moves with wrestling.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that Spike is trying to run shows that have more appeal to women than pro wrestling does. With that said, Tharpe is looking at other options to bring the NWA to TV.

I was just thinking the other day about how NWA needs to try to get some national attention again. Use that rich history that companies like TNA, ROH and GFW don't have the benefit of. They need to start slow though. None of this trying to go prime time on Spike right off the bat and ending up putting themselves in financial peril. Get a nice late night/afternoon slot somewhere where you can go kinda low budget and not have to worry about ratings right off the bat and carefully build it back up for a bit.

The NWA would really benefit from something like the WWE network. They could air all their promotions on it. With all their promotions they could have a pretty good weekly wrestling schedule and wouldn't need to do all the extra shows like the WWE network does.

The territory system could be used like a brand split. All those guys in the company being showcased weekly but never coming in contact with each other thus bulding up small scale "dream matches". Could get over like ghostbusters or however that phrase goes.

As noted, WWE United States Champion John Cena has been removed from several WWE live events and RAW tapings after WWE Hell In A Cell later this month. However, as of this morning, Cena still remained advertised for the WWE European tour. Since that report, WWE has removed Cena from the European tour. Cena has actually been removed from all WWE televised and live events until the December 30th WWE live event in Toronto. It should be noted that WWE only has a handful of events listed for December, so there is a chance that Cena might be added to more events that month. However, WWE has their full schedule for November and Cena is not advertised for any shows that month
Either he's dropping the belt very soon or the WWE didn't plan for the second Open Challenge series to be a weekly thing like the original.
Raw on 9/28 did a 2.32 rating and 3.32 million viewers (1.50 viewers per home), once again setting a new non-holiday mark for the show dating back to 1997, just under the 3.34 million viewers on 9/21 but well below the non-holiday record lows of a 2.42 rating set on 9/7 and 9/14.
The new record low they heading toward, which would be the lowest including holidays, would be a 2.24 rating and 3.14 million viewers for a show that aired on Christmas Eve in 2012. The last time Raw did a 2.3 rating non-holiday was October 27, 1997, a night they went not only against the NFL, but also against a Nitro show that did a 4.6 rating. If you want to think of it in another way, Nitro, as horrible as it was in 1999, never came close to a 2.3 until the summer of 2000, and that was against a Raw show that did a 5.3 rating.
The key losses are in Males 18-34, where Raw is down a whopping 21.7%
Update to where RAW is losing the most viewers (and ratings) which also is the target demo for advertisers.
If you’re looking at how football has affected Raw and where, the 8/31 show was the last show without football competition, and did a 2.73 rating and 3.89 million viewers. So, if all things are equal (and they’re not, because viewership of TV is up since 8/31, so the affect of football is slightly greater than the stats comparing dates will bear out), we’ve had a 15.0% drop in ratings over the four weeks and a 14.7% drop in total audience. Usually football will cause about a 9-10% drop in ratings and audience so it is hurting Raw more this year than any year I can recall.
Scott Fishman of Channel Guide Mag spoke with Paul Heyman, who was discussing Lesnar's WWE appearances this month. During the interview, Fishman asked Heyman about WWE's declining ratings.
"I think if there is erosion in the ratings then we are in a cycle within the industry where fans are going and looking for or finding other interests," Heyman said.
"This is not dissimilar to any other forms of entertainment. The key has always been to replace those who leave, to bring in more fans at any time you are losing fans. At this particular point in time there is a search to find the new fan. I am not one who looks at the ratings every Tuesday and says, 'Well, we haven't replaced everybody that is left. The ratings didn't double.' I'm not expecting that type of increase tomorrow or the next week or the week after that.
"Any business with longevity, and this is the one company in the business that has survived, deals with this. They survive because when there was an erosion of the audience and they had to replenish the audience, there isn't a panic. Panic is never the answer. Panic never brings up the ratings. A long-term solution is with a number of brand new stars, all in compelling situations with riveting storylines and new matchups. That is what will bring an upswing to the ratings ever so slowly to where the average rating goes up a little bit each month. Then a couple of years from now the erosion have taken place of the people that have left being fans and a new generation or group or crop of fans has come in. It's natural evolution of any form of entertainment."

Bischoff said it never came off to him like Turner had a grudge against McMahon, and that he rarely spoke to Turner the entire time he was running WCW, saying he may bump into him briefly at a Christmas party, a corporate event or occasionally they were in the same elevator since they operated out of the same office.
On the supposed Turner vs McMahon feud that the WWE likes to hype up a lot for the MNW/Attitude Era.
Jesse Ventura is pushing the idea of being Vice President on the Bernie Sanders ticket, saying he thinks Sanders is the candidate most likely to bring our troops back from the Middle East, which Ventura said would be one of his political priorities. Sanders is an independent candidate from Vermont. Ventura has a slightly better chance of winning the Miss Universe contest than being Vice President.
Regarding last week’s notes about WrestleMania, this is the little we’ve been able to find out. Steve Austin on Twitter seemed to close the door to any idea of facing Lesnar, saying it wasn’t going to happen. As of right now, Rock vs. HHH is still one of the projected main events, so that takes Rock out of any possibility of facing Lesnar, and takes Rollins out of any possibility of facing HHH. Those in WWE close to the situation knew nothing about an Austin vs. Lesnar match. Every indication from Austin has been that he’s not going to wrestle again, and a few months back, when he did that promo on Lesnar and then I was told point blank he wasn’t going to wrestle at Mania and Vince was upset about the promo, that to me seemed to close the book on it. If there was ever going to be a place and opponent this would be it, but there was a good reason he retired in 2003 and has resisted all attempts to wrestle again.
The second part of the Eisenhower Fellowship that Stephanie McMahon got was from 10/4 to 11/22. Not sure of the dates she’ll be gone, but if she’s off television for a few weeks soon, that’s the reason. She missed a lot of TV during the first part.
Regarding the item here last week about Carlito and returning, he was asked about it and said that it all depends on the money offer they make. As noted here, they made an offer that he considered low, and he turned it down, but he made it clear he’d come back with the right offer. The talks of unmasking Los Matadores and revealing them as Colons is still on the table.
There is talk of using Austin, Flair and Michaels to be an in-ring panel talking about who is going to win the climactic Lesnar vs. Undertaker match when they appear on the 10/19 Raw in Dallas, although that idea is likely to change many times between now and then.
The 9 p.m. airing of Impact on 9/30 did 275,000 viewers, up from last week’s 272,000 viewers. The replay did 69,000, down from last week’s 122,000 viewers. Overall, they did 344,000 viewers, down from last week’s 394,000 viewers. The 9/30 edition of Ring Of Honor did 127,000 viewers, down from last week’s 168,000 viewers.

The territory system could be used like a brand split. All those guys in the company being showcased weekly but never coming in contact with each other thus bulding up small scale "dream matches". Could get over like ghostbusters or however that phrase goes.
those things never work. I mentioned this in another thread. Say someone in NXT, like that new dude - Creed or whatever - say he hits as the next Rocky. Do you just keep him isolated on one show? Do you tell USA Network "yeah we know you are paying us a ton of money for RAW, but we cant use him on RAW, because he's a Smackdown guy, and this will theoretically build to a bigger match one day on PPV".
The odd thing is people who have been following wrestling for so long generally ignore certain facts. For example, most of the biggest matches in history were done multiple times before the huge match (Hogan-Andre, Hogan-Savage, Austin-Rock, etc). Very few matches I can think of did massive business because they were held off. Maybe Rock-Cena is the best one, but even that is not quite the same. You look at a program like Hogan-Flair, which is what people want, and that bombed at house shows. Lesnar-Goldberg was a disaster (albeit there were circumstances that hurt that fight).
I just dont see the benefit of brand splits/extensions.

Saying a territory system "never works" is pretty silly. It worked for a REALLY long time...
My point was NWA, with the right TV deal, could try to find a way to make the internet age work for them instead of against them. The idea of a territory system with national attention is outdated. So find a way to make it new again.

Ok but explain how you get a guy who gets over on show B to show A (the show that works the big cities), without killing the concept of the split and without making show B look like the minor leagues?

Don't think the NWA would have the problem Cynick is talking about. If a guy in a small NWA promotion started getting over he would be going after National and World titles that are defended across the NWA. They defiantly have potential there to do something with the NWA.

Triple H during the recent NXT panel about his view of NXT crowds. Highlights the difference between him and Vince in that regard.
Roman Reigns recently spoke with Hot 97 to promote Susan G Komen and breast cancer awareness. During the interview, Reigns commented on his experience with winning the 2015 Royal Rumble as well as the crowd turning on him.
“It was rough. It’s crazy because it was one of the most special nights of my life, but it didn’t go exactly like I’d hoped or planned. So it was emotional. It was a roller coaster,” Reigns said of the harsh reaction from the WWE Universe.”
“When you’re out there in that ring, there’s a lot of emotion and passion going on. I love what I do. I love this form of art. So to get that negative response, it can hurt your feelings,” Reigns said.
Reigns brought up that The Rock knew the fans would react negatively.
“I think he had a good idea. With social media, with so many different outlets and platforms that we have now, you can kind of get a taste of what’s happening, the way people are swinging and where you’re falling. Leading up, for weeks I could see it developing and the movement getting stronger. I knew I wasn’t going to be a popular guy that night. I didn’t realize it was going to be so strong,” Reigns said.

WWE recently applied for a general trademark for the name Asuka, which is the former Kana in NXT. They also filed for a “Seth Rollins” trademark for merchandise use.
WWE recently abandoned these trademarks with the reason, “ABANDONED – FAILURE TO RESPOND TO LATE RESPONSE” – Eve Torres, Naomi, Just Bring It, Stardust and Lunatic Fringe.
WWE recently abandoned the following trademarks with the reason, “CONTINUED USE NOT FILED WITHIN GRACE PERIOD, UN-REVIVABLE” – Cryme Tyme, WWE HD, WWEHD, WWEShop, Candice Michelle and Hornswoggle.
It appears Carmella suffered a stinger at tonight's WWE NXT live event in Nashville, Tennessee.
During her match against Eva Marie, Carmella took a bump on the back of her head and the match was stopped. The referee threw up the dreaded "X" and motioned to the back of his own head as WWE trainers, including Dr. Chris Amann, came to the ring.
Carmella was crying in the ring but did leave with some help. Eva was met with "please retire" chants. It appears Carmella is alright and just suffered a stinger but we'll keep you updated.
According to reports, Eva Marie botched a move and ended up accidentally kicking/kneeing Carmella in the head instead.
A new blog entry at Jim Ross site, JrsBarBQ.com.
“Amazing that some people think that Daniel Bryan’s return can cure all WWE TV ratings ills alone. Not true. Bryan should not be considered for a return until he is completely, 100% medically cleared of which WWE will insure.
Ratings go down just like live event tickets sales and for the same reasons….the paying customers are not getting what they feel that they want. Promoters get market research daily.
Those that listen and compromise what they may be feeling is the right way to go generally are rewarded with increased profitability. Those that think that the fans don’t know what the fans really want, generally continue to downtrend. It’s simple marketing 101.
Listen to the paying customers and allow them to guide you to what some refer to the Promised Land or, better said, the land of profitability.”

According to reports, Eva Marie botched a move
... surprising absolutely nobody.
Here's what I don't get about this situation: remember Ken Kennedy was in line to get what basically equates to the push that Rollins got post-Shield, just years earlier, and that was derailed pretty much because he injured one person? How does this woman keep fucking around and hurting people, and they think she's going to be A-Ok to be a top draw eventually?
It's not even like Sin Cara, where a) he just would slip or miss moves causing more em narassment than harm and b) they can just stick another girl under that makeup and orange tan mask, because supposedly, that's her real face.
She debatably has "the look", she supposedly has charisma, but she can't move around in the ring for shit (let's not look at this from a wrestling purist perspective- if a guy wants to play football as a running back, but can't get through mobility drills at practice, the coaches don't go "oh, well he looks intimidating, so we'll start him and he'll eventually get better"... no, they bench him til he is starter material or cut his ass) and she has about a 50/50 chance of injuring someone in an industry where one of the most sacred of vows is to take care of the other guy (or gal).
Ultimately, it's sad that they focus so much time and attention on someone who clearly is not going to either get better or get over, but then, another person who may just need a slight nudge, or a bit more tv time, or mic time, or even at least a hint of support from the company, and they get dismissive. They seem to be so obsessed with making a superstar from the ground up that they just gloss over the ones that are already there that just need a neat, shiny bow and a "go get 'em, champ" slap on the ass.

Fact is lots of companies have tried to build up in the wake of the demise of WCW, but nobody can do it.
WWE is too good quite frankly. You will always have a small minority of people who will be interested in seeing something non WWE, but thats not nearly enough people to make a profitable wrestling company. If someone had money to spend on a wrestling ticket, why would they spend it on some upstart when they could spend it on WWE? There's just no logic to it.

Cynick's just looking at the facts. WWE makes lots of money from the brand they've built. Any other wrestling company who makes money through actually putting a decent product forward because they can't rest on their laurels is not successful because they aren't making the same amount of money as WWE. All success is measured by WWE. But when Vince says "We're not competing with wrestling, we're competing with everything else on TV" and they're WAY behind the competition, we must ignore that and call it a success despite them not even being close to competing because... LOGIC!

Wow. Mrs Uso sure got a lot taller. And hairier legs. And balder on the head. And flatter in the chest. I'd say she looks kinda whiter, too, but I'm sure that's the bad lighting. Maybe not so much flash next time, huh?

So since I didn't want to drag it into an argument thread...this proves that the occasional 45 or so minute long match, no matter what promotion, when done right, can be epic.

You think it's smart for guys to post crap like that on Twitter?
Do you think Austin would have done that in late 96? Obviously not on Twitter. But say posing in WWF magazine?
Is a small thing, but shows some guys don't get what it takes to be a headliner. It's one thing if he's already established, but given his spot, it's like he enjoys being opening card match on RAW.

Other wrestling companies are profitable though. Many indy promotions make plenty of money. Just because you're not becoming a billionaire doesn't mean you're not making a profit. Stop being daft.
Fair point.

LOGIC!
... I'm stealing Noid's gimmick now.
Who are they behind? MNF? Anyone else?

On Mondays you have to look at network shows as well. Big Bang Theory, Voice, and Dancing with the Stars, are all on Mondays.

You're not expecting them to beat shows on network TV are you? Yes they compete with them for eyeballs, but it's unfair to hold them against those shows in terms of total viewers.

When WWE themselves claims they're "the longest running weekly episodic television program in history", that's what they're comparing themselves to. MNF does not claim itself to be episodic, however, network shows are, like the Simpsons. It's only fair, in all reality, to compare Raw to other episodic weekly programs because that's what they themselves claim to be.

And if multiple network shows are beating them in ratings, then they're not number 2 or better based on their own description of their product.

So I'm skipping through Bound For Glory, and man, TNA is just so "low" right now. Everything seems so dull and boring. Watching the main event, Carter just suplexed Hardy to the outside, through the table with Galloway on it, and not only did it look sloppy and uneventful, even the announcers sound so unimpressed by it.
Just whole PPV feels bush league. Do TNA even care about TNA any more?

Nothing can compete with WWE, that goes without saying, but even Indy promotions have some kinda enthusiasm and energy to them. Really feels like the people in TNA don't give a fuck and are just going through with it to pay the bills.

I don't think you understand how US television works. But it's okay. Even comparing them to ALL of television, they are in rare air in terms of consistency.
MNF does not claim to be episodic because it's not. WWE does because it is.

So if it's episodic, you would then compare itother episodic, network shows right? You can't say they shouldn't be compared to network episodic television in one hand and admit that it's exactly what they are in another.
If they're episodic television, then that's what they should be compared to.

:( I do. Not mega tier status like Cena or Bryan but someone like a Jericho who could move seamlessly between main event and upper mid card status whenever needed.

Yes. Has the cred to compete with, maybe win the big one now and again, but not a top star. Think most feel he could attain that status if anyone that mattered actually cared.

I'm not sure if Cesaro is ready to be a top guy right now, but I'd like it if when he knocks the ball out of the park that momentum is actually built upon. We might find out if he can take on the role that way.

Had they not bungled his post-Mania push last year, he could easily have been main event material by now.
Maybe instead of Sheamus, its Ceasro who has the MitB case and continuing his momentum from a year ago. Promo stuff might be a concern but had they not misused Heyman as a manager, that's not an issue for him.

Terrible how? My only real issue with him is his mic work/lack of a larger than life true main event personality... which was a problem that should have been taken care of with Paul fucking Heyman as his mouthpiece. Book him to look credible in the ring (Not hard. He's pretty fucking good in the ring.) and have Paul Heyman stand by him and hype the shit out of him. It's not rocket science but.. WWE said "derp, I dunno" after a few weeks and let their ADD kick in.
