Nah. If you build and focus properly, no reason at all why women's wrestling can't be as great as men's singles and men's tag wrestling especially in WWE.

Just takes a lot of time due to the historical disadvantages women have had in the US in wrestling. Only started to really turn around in recent years and not solely because of WWE.

I'm not saying that there can't be great womens wrestling. Just that there is too much of it in WWE right now.

The disadvantage is just being a woman therefore being less athletically coordinated. WWE has put them on TV more is all they've done. With the exception of Becky, Charlotte, and Sasha their women's matches are still piss break segments that are long enough for you to take a shit.

Yeah their women's division has been AEW's weakest link but it should slowly get better once they get more time under their belt to build things.

Supposedly it was mentioned during Starrcast that they were being hamstrung by visa-related and dates issues with their international talent and until very recently it was starting to get resolved. Same with them still signing new women talent to beef up the division.

I'm a big Shida fan. You know they're going somewhere with the recent Kong build up that's started. It's going to take time because the names they have aren't anywhere near as recognizable as the men's division.

That's more of a booking problem and Vince being shit when it comes to deciding big star and spotlight material. They have well than enough talent to avoid "piss break" situations but misuse the division just like every other division in the company.

Them getting more time was eventually going to happen due to WWE hiring a ton of women ever since modern NXT started and needing to cater towards female viewers to salvage their struggling ratings.

The historical disadvantage never had anything to do with athletic ability and instead the dated mindset promoters and fans in general had towards women's wrestling till recent times in the US. Also didn't help that women wrestlers till recently also had fewer options available for quality training and work.

Supposedly Triple H isn't fond of the idea but its still being considered according to WrestleVotes.

Honestly, who gives a fuck about any of it?

If HHH ends up in the SS match or not, will it actually matter or make any real difference? Yes, in theory it would be "worse" if he did, but will it actually be any better or matter if he didn't? I can tell you the answer to both questions is a quick and simple no.

Also, who gives a fuck about what CM Punk thinks about wrestling at this point? Yeah, he's still outspoken, honest, and probably not wrong, but so what? Him speaking his mind isn't actually going to change anything either way. While, I'm slightly curious to hear his take on things, it doesn't matter what he says as it won't change anything, and I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to check it out. If I happen to come across it, so be it, but I'm not going out of my way, and certainly not to watch live, to simply check out a "WWE" show to see what some has been's take is on the current product. Apparently Adam Cole won't be on the NXT Men's team for Survivor Series since he's now defending the NXT title at the show.

According to Fightful and Joey Janela, Game Changer Wrestling has managed to become the second best selling wrestling promotion on FITE with only AEW ahead of them.

Pretty amazing considering they specialize in deathmatch and hardcore wrestling but have also done a great job showcasing quality lucha and regular indie wrestling for their shows. Sort of like a modern ECW after taking over that mantle from CZW in recent years.

Probably since he's mentioned before his AEW contract allows him to work for GCW during his free time and he still wants to keep working there from time to time. Those specialty events he runs have been huge money makers so doubt he nor GCW wants to end those any time soon.

I laugh at those who denied the bond of the Elite. The only reason Scurl stayed at ROH is because he signed his contract at a different time than the other Elite players, and had to stick it out another year. What a fool he would be to go to WWE/NXT and swim amongst so many. In AEW he will be a top guy.

With Page leaving THE ELITE (watch Being the Elite) I think that once Scurl comes in it will create a natural feud between the two. And Page is best at working the ROH style main event, add in Scurl... yeah it's gonna be the best of ROH on TNT. I love how AEW truly doesn't need any more talent right now. Add in Scurl and all is set. I just want to see them work what they have signed already, with the exception of female talent. Almost all of the female talent they have brought in for one off's are worth signed over the girls like Britt Baker (DMD) and Allie and Brandi.

Batman is coming to AEW Dynamite

This Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite is set to be a special show as it will have a Batman-theme. This is part of the honor of the Dark Knight by TNT, which airs Dynamite.

According to a report by Newsarama, Dynamite will take part in TNT’s Batweek. The week will see all the modern Batman films along with Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad air in a marathon on TNT.

This is the only thing AEW had over NXT, besides the hardcore fans being more behind them because it's fresh and not at all backed by Vince. But them rushing to do TV isn't really a problem. I think the Meltzer narrative on why they did it is a bit biased. I can think of bunch of reasons they wouldn't want to be chasing AEW's tail on that. And they knew about Dynamite launching for a long time and did the Halftime Heat earlier this year. This has been in the works for ages, because Vince likes money.

NXT UK had similar issues when it came to the launch of the brand as a weekly series.

The moment ITV was actually serious about entering the UK wrestling market was the moment WWE started to rush their plans for the brand in order to not give ITV a big advantage. Before that, WWE kept delaying their plans and also hurt themselves in regards to trying to get a tv deal done in the UK.

NXT potentially could have been on television earlier but it would have been on FS1 and likely on Fridays but it didn't happen because FOX got cold feet on the idea. The talks with USA Network didn't happen until much later and likely after it became more clearer which day AEW was going to be on.

Former WCW announcer Chris Cruise recently contacted the commission regarding the Omega vs. Moxley match and asked about their rules on blading, and allowing matches to continue if a performer is bleeding either intentionally or unintentionally, and if there was a commission doctor at the show, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

After repeated requests, Cruise was told that the commission prohibits wrestlers from deliberately lacerating themselves or their opponents, or introducing human or animal blood into the match. The commission also said they were at Full Gear and they had a doctor assigned to the show. They also stated that they were conducting a formal investigation into the match and because of that investigation, they were unable to comment on questions about the match.

Cruise recently Wrestling with History podcast and talked about why he doesn't see AEW succeeding.

"AEW has millions of dollars from the son of a billionaire and is not setting the world on fire and will not succeed," Cruise said. "It may last a long time, but will never be profitable. Somebody once said 'if you want to be a millionaire, start with a billion dollars and buy an airline.' It's the same thing with a pro wrestling organization; it's just going to bleed you dry. Not everything is guaranteed to last forever. It's my convention that wrestling has seen better days."

Below is Cruise's Facebook post from November 23, where he mentioned his plans to contact the commission:

I'll be asking the Maryland State Athletic Commission why it didn't enforce its own rules at AEW Full Gear. Here are some of those rules. See esp. (m).
F. Prohibited Activities.

(1) The following actions are prohibited:
(a) Striking an opponent with a fist or using the knuckles;
(b) Scratching or gouging the opponent;
(c) Butting the opponent;
(d) Slamming an opponent into a ring post;
(e) Striking an opponent with a foreign object;
(f) Kicking an opponent unless a recognized wrestling move;
(g) Stranglehold;
(h) Pulling hair;
(i) Inhibiting breathing by covering the nose and mouth at the same time;
(j) Jumping from the ring ropes onto an opponent;
(k) Deliberately leaving the ring enclosure during a contest;
(l) Unsportsmanlike or physically dangerous conduct; and
(m) Deliberately lacerating oneself or one's opponent, or, by any other means, introducing human or animal blood into the ring.
(2) A wrestler continuing to engage in prohibited activities after sufficient warning may be disqualified by the referee.

Several WWE sources have confirmed that the WWE Network has, going forward, suspended all plans for weekly "Hidden Gems" on the company's streaming service.

Over the last year, the Hidden Gems section has featured dark matches from WWF and WWE TV tapings, full specials from Jim Crockett Promotions, the AWA, the WWF and other content from across the spectrum of the tape libraries that WWE owns. The content would be released every Thursday, something WWE Network has not done in recent weeks.

According to the Observer, Teddy Hart was suddenly released from MLW earlier today with no other details given.

May or may not be related to the allegations surrounding the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend or his recent activity on Youtube.

Without any other details or information, Major League Wrestling announced Friday they have "come to terms on the release of Teddy Hart" ...

Hart came under scrutiny in November after he and wrestler Chasyn Rance were mentioned in a now deleted but widely circulated Facebook post regarding the disappearance of Hart's ex-girlfriend Samantha Fiddler. The former wrestling trainee has been missing since the fall of 2016. Hart denied the allegations on Twitter, saying he and Fiddler had gone their separate ways before she moved to Florida where she was last seen.

A Maine indie promotion severed ties with Hart shortly after the allegations were raised. While MLW kept him on the roster, the middleweight title loss to Reed came less than a week after the Facebook post went viral. He did not appear at MLW's Opera Cup TV taping Thursday night.

Another interesting titbit from the Newsletter is the fact that Vince McMahon feels that the WWE PPVs are now about Network sign-ups and not the traditional PPV buys like they used to be.

Since the sign-up patterns show a subscription hike on the last day of the show, the Boss feels that there is no need to announce matches far in advance. This is the reason why the company is now not announcing the matches for the show beforehand.


Seems brilliant to think people are going to sub blindly to the network not knowing the match card.

Seems there is another explanation for the rumors of the WWE Network US subscriber base getting close to being under 1 million.

It involves recent crackdowns by the company to Canadian subscribers using VPNs to get the US version of the Network instead of the limited one currently available in Canada.

Depending on how heavy the crackdown is, the US base might drop even harder than currently predicted.

The other change is a crackdown on people from other countries who are getting the network in a manner they aren’t supposed to by using a U.S. proxy address. It appears this is aimed at Canada, where WWE has deals in place with the cable providers and fans are going around those deals.

The WWE Network in Canada is a cable television station and there aren’t the options and archives like the U.S. version, just the live stream and limited VOD content. So Canadians have been using a VPN address to subscribe and get the full VOD content. They have found a way to crack down on this. What makes this notable is if there are a significant number of Canadians or people from other countries doing this, it would mean a significant drop in U.S. subs by 12/31, a number that was already feared would fall below 1 million for the first time in many years

According to this week's Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon once tried to beat up Harley Race for turning down his idea to screw the NWA and their plans for Starrcade at the time.

Considering Race's rep as a tough guy wrestler at the time, Vince's idea to beat up Race ended up failing miserably.

McMahon called for a meeting with Race in the days before the show. Such a thing wasn’t unusual as Race had worked WWF dates previously as NWA champion. And the idea of Race, if he was to drop the title, to come in for a round of matches with Bob Backlund, the WWF champion, made all the sense in the world.

But McMahon proposed something different. He offered Race big money to no-show Starrcade, and to not lose the NWA title and bring it to him. The idea was that Hogan would win the WWF title, and then beat Race for the NWA title, and be viewed as the real and true world champion at a time when that meant a lot. It would have devastated the NWA to have Flair as champion, having never beaten Race. It would have killed the Starrcade closed-circuit concept for a long time to have not delivered the advertised main event.

Race turned the deal down, telling McMahon that he wouldn’t be able to look at himself in the mirror by double-crossing the people who had given him the title so many times. It also should be noted that Race at the time was co-owner of both the Central States and St. Louis offices, and St. Louis had been one of the most successful wrestling cities in the country dating back to the 1920s. Race later said that many would think he was stupid for turning the deal down, but he never could have had any respect for himself if he had taken it.

McMahon was furious and attempted to surprise double leg Race in the bathroom, but Race quickly reversed on McMahon, hooked him in a guillotine before letting him go. Months later, after the war had started and Crockett ran his first show at the Meadowlands, with Flair vs. Race as the main event, the WWF tried to get the New Jersey commission to not allow Race to perform, as at the time the state had a regulation nobody over the age of 55 could wrestle. The problem is that Race was only 41 at the time, but in those days, nobody knew anyone’s real age.

PWI released more details regarding Teddy Hart's sudden release from MLW.

While MLW declined to comment to PWInsider.com, instead pointing to their official statement that Hart was released, PWInsider.com was told that issues began in September when Hart didn’t appear for scheduled pre-tapes in Dallas. What was planned for a Best of Three Falls bout against the Dynasty at MLW War Chamber didn’t go according to plan with Hart getting most of the shine in the first fall. We are told that Tom Prichard, who had been in charge of producing the bout, was extremely upset, to the point that one source claimed Prichard nearly quit MLW right after he started with the company. That weekend appears to be where the chasm between the two sides began.

Hart then no-showed the combined show with THE CRASH in Mexico, which caused headaches as he was a big part of advertising for the event in Mexico (including banners outside the arena). On that show, hewas slated for a six man tag, so CRASH now had an extra talent booked they couldn’t use, which MLW sources felt reflected badly on the company. MLW is now working with AAA and their relationship with the CRASH has dissolved. Some MLW sources also pointed to Hart being in the crowd at NXT and other events, saying it disrespected the company, since he was a titleholder for MLW at the time. On that one, I think those upset about it are splitting hairs, since lots of talents from other companies visit promotions, although Hart does dress in a way that makes himself easily noticed no matter where he is. That said, I might feel differently if I had someone under contract and he was showing up at other promotion's events.

Update: An MLW source noted, "We felt Teddy was being not only disrespectful to us but to AEW and NXT and their locker rooms. If he had just been in the back, it’s a non-issue. He was taking away from the talent in the ring with the antics too."

In November in Orlando, there were said to be other headaches. Hart didn’t show up for pre-tapes and again, we are told that what was planned for his match with Myron Reed went out the window with some feeling it made Reed looked poor, this time nearly causing MLW TV to go off the air before a planned angle with CONTRA Unit showing up to do their angle. MLW was taping live to tape with the show being aired later that night on BeIN Sports, so there would have been zero time to post-produce, which added to the issues. The CONTRA fireball angle, burning Hart, was originally slated to kick off a long CONTRA vs. Hart Foundation program with Hart returning in January in Dallas as a surprise. That is obviously all out the window, but had the angle not aired, MLW would have had to course-correct before moving forward.
