Seems the switch from MSG to Hulu Theater paid off very well for AAA and their NY show. Managed to get a lot of last minute sales and walk ins to fill the arena based on photos from the event.

Between Twitch and Pluto TV they have two channels that play nothing but old episodes of Impact. Always post different Top 5 moments on their YouTube and Twitter all the time. They'll also show a throwback match on their recent episodes of Impact advertising Impact+ occasionally. Used to have one every week when the app was new.

I wish they did the same during their peak. They never realized the true potential of their archives. WWE never hesitated to remind fans about Shawn Michaels' boyhood dream, Hogan slamming Andre, Edge spearing Jeff Hardy from the ladder at WM 17 or cashing in on Cena for the WWE title etc. Historical significance carries a lot of weight and prestige. TNA should've banked on it.

Was a decent show. I liked the set up and it was similar looking to Fight for the Fallen. Best matches were the cruiserweight 4 way, Taya/Tessa, LAX/Lucha Bros, and the main event. Early matches weren't bad but just felt like filler to get to meat of the card.

Ok, I get you now but I think they did that, it's just they didn't have the historical significance to carry any weight really. Thanks to alot of their talent being in WWE now it becomes more significant and they are using it more.

Similar thing to AEW having these unknown guys it's going to take them some time to build up any moments they have because people don't know them therefore really don't care.

Just a random idea I had about The Fiend gimmick while earlier while talking with a friend. For the sake of the scenario, I'm going to use last nights KotR final where Corbin went over Gable as a setting because it fits with my general idea really well. Anyways, how would you guys feel if the lights had went out during the middle of Corbin wrecking Gable and when they come back on Gable has on The Fiend mask. He goes crazy and beats the absolute shit out of Corbin and pins him. Lights go back off and when they come back on Gable no longer has the mask on and is left dazed and confused with no idea what happened.

It would basically be like treating The Fiend like a separate entity entirely from Bray in a sense. I dunno, just a random idea we discussed that I thought I would share.

I guess Cornette is out and Tony isn't the most available so they are looking for someone else. I wonder if they are going to go for a return to the booth like Scott Hudson and Mark Madden who did really good on the Starcast CM Punk show, it was nice to hear them again. Then I also saw someone mention Taz, which would be really awesome IMO. Taz would be a good draw for MLW for post show meet and greets and also I would really love to have him calling MLW. I think it would be great.

John Pollock reported a week or two ago that based on those he has spoke to, everyone being shown in FOX's ads are not guaranteed to actually be on the brand when Smackdown moves next month.

Pollock mentioned in last night's Review-A-Smackdown show that WWE probably hasn't even put in any serious work yet on the actual lists for the draft based on how past drafts were handled.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see the split dropped completely before long. Or for SmackDown to have certain talent and Raw to be a “supershow.” If this were any other company, it would be insane to promote certain talent and then not have them featured on the show. But this is WWE.

Balor and KO have both been suspiciously absent from any sort of promotional material. Does that mean anything? Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch have both been all over it. Does it make sense to promote them heavily for the show and then not have them?

You’d think that, but Miz actually participated in a FOX promotional shoot, which of all the material seems like the one that would count for the most. He and Alex’s Bliss are the ones I see being the most likely to do promotional stuff and then not be featured.

This poster is using lots of old graphics and stock stuff. And there’s no way Bray, Seth AND Braun all end up on the same show. This is also post draft announcement, so it makes more sense for a hodge lodge. Not that anyone has put that much thought in.

The promo material I’d put the most stock in is the paid-for commercial. The one that had a clear directive and focused on specific talent and cast actors to play them. It isn’t guaranteed to mean anything, but that seems like the most ridiculous thing to cast and then cast aside.

Orton, Roman, Taker, Cena, Kofi, Becky, Charlotte, Rey, Seth, Bryan and Cole were all featured in that. Reading between the lines, Cena and Taker will probably just show up wherever the hell they want. Of that list, Kofi is the most likely to move, in my opinion, because they may have just wanted a black wrestler for their ad. Everyone else is more recognizable because they are a big star.

Roode, Zayn, Rusev, Harper, Rowan, Hardys, Usos and Revival also aren’t featured...god, they have so much talent locked down.

Legit predictions:

* Seth, Becky, Cole and Rey to Smackers.

* Owens, Balor, Bayley and Phillips to Raw.

There are other potential moves, like possibly Nakamura & Zayn for The Usos (& Naomi), but those are the big ones I see being put on the TV shows. Brock and The Revival end up on SmackDown by virtue of winning the belts there. Sasha and Bray are champions on Raw, so they don’t move.

Doubt it since FOX has been making it clear for months they want the brand split to be stricter and didn't spent that crazy amount of money just to get a second RAW show.

They did float an idea for a while where Smackdown would get priority for "supershow" status but USA Network rejected it due to FOX being too harsh with their demands.

Honestly, I just see Cole and Facefuck Phillips swapping places. I think they will keep the three-person team for Raw (because it’s a long show and the company clearly like that presentation, for whatever reason). Byron Saxton quietly moves over and no one notices. Cole does SmackDown with someone, possibly a revolving door of personalities (JBL, Lawler, Booker, McGuinness, Vic Joseph, etc.). That’s a two-person team. Renee drops commentary to be FS1 host. Vic Joseph fills in around the place doing odd spots here and there so commentators can get time off/be “on location”/do angles. I can see him earning his stripes on Main Event in the meantime. I don’t know this Dio, but I can see him being Main Event and doing other things every now and then.

Eventually I can see McGuinness making the full-time move to SmackDown and Aiden English becoming the NXT. Or Dio if he is good.

Yes, that's a whole thing that happened. Myself and current America's Got Talent finalist Ryan Niemiller put so much work into that project, and then the producer threw it all away and did his own thing. It turned out awful. There was so much potential there, and a lot of great people working on it. It was a huge disappointment for me.

The producer is kind of a "any publicity is good publicity" hack, and refuses to accept he did any wrong. He's since blocked most of us on all social media after refusing to take any criticism as anything other than "being negative."

According to the Observer, early PPV buys numbers for AAA's NY show were beyond abysmal.

The PPV numbers were so low you wouldn’t believe them. In more than one market with a high percentage of Hispanics, there were 0 buys, as in not a low number, but zero. Based on actual numbers we have, it would indicate less than 60 buys nationwide and even that may be high because the early market actuals included heavy Hispanic markets. There must have been some iPPV numbers, but our response level was very low.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan’s wife Debra wrote that Duggan underwent two emergency surgeries in 24 hours due to a severe infection. Debra noted that Duggan will be in the hospital for a few more days, but doctors think they got all of his infection: “Hello everyone, this is Debra. I appreciate the in-ring talent, but every wrestler shouldn’t be booked to be in a 20+ minute match with 5-6 near falls. It’s ok to have tiers fellas.

I’m glad that AEW has already had some positive impact on WWE (better pay for wrestlers, NXT show), but I’m getting the feeling that the marks in charge of AEW would rather continue their indy-ness rather than make mandatory changes to appeal to a mass audience and make a huge difference in professional wrestling.

This is where I am 100%. It gets exhausting to watch shows where everyone gets their shit in. One thing I loved about NXT was that Cameron Grimes beat Sean Maluta with a single move. That was so fucking refreshing.

AEW also seem to be hiring a lot of their friends. It's like when Hogan went to WCW and you started to see Duggan, Beefcake and Honky Tonk show up. Or when Hogan and Bischoff went to TNA. The big difference is that at least Hogan is a star.

I mean nothing is impossible. I'm sure JCP in the 80s had its fair share of shlock (I'm not super well-versed with the promotion), but the shit I have seen felt gritty and kind of cool.

Even ECW, despite being fucking trash t.v., had that rock and roll vibe about it.

The problem is, WWE monopolized wrestling. And honestly, it's fine that WWE is the circus if there are other viable options. But, instead, it has influenced literally every promotion in North America -- even if they think they're anti-WWE, it's a bunch of self-impressed Indy geeks who are so focused on being anti-wwe that it ruins everything. Treating wrestling as a sport is a wonderful idea, but doing so in a way where everyone is like WAY TOO INTENSE is over the top and dumb.

And to delve deeper, WWE can't help but make everything decidedly uncool. We talk about it all the time, but once anything seems cool, they'll sink their stink-claws into it and ruin it. You have this 70-plus-year-old owner and his inner circle of people who NEVER had their finger on the pulse of anything mainstream who drive the creative (actually I'll give them the rock and wrestling connection). Plus, the insistence on wrestlers utilizing branded language makes it so much worse. Watching wrestlers in interviews calling fans "The WWE Universe" and referring to themselves as "WWE superstars" on a pop-culture-based show like Hot Ones is one way to ensure nobody takes you seriously.

Then, with something like AEW, that demo is literally the anti-pussy. It's unfortunate because IMO Cody Rhodes oozes suaveness. And if the Bucks removed their heads from their asses and stopped catering to smart marks they could have something. But, I digress... just look at those AEW crowds. Christ. I would not want to go to one of those shows based on how bad it seems like it'd smell.


So, I'll agree that it's HIGHLY unlikely wrestling can dig itself out of this whole. However, if someone got involved who was an honest-to-goodness great writer/creative mind who didn't have an affinity for putting forth embarrassing fucking trash, I'd like to see what happened. There's certain wrestling shit that mainstream people love. The first two names that spring to mind are Ric Flair and Randy Savage. Especially their 80s stuff.

Wrestling being "uncool" is pretty much the fault of Vince and the top wrestling companies failing to adjust to the changing times and tastes of fans and the mainstream.

Vince in the sense he's the one person who has held the most power over the industry since the fall of WCW and once he no longer needed to worry about competition, he started to give less of a shit of what fans and the mainstream cared about.

Top wrestling companies in the sense of neither WWE nor Impact adjusted to the changing times post-AA. WWE started to cater a lot more towards Vince and the idea of wrestling as a brand and not as something full of creative and quality performers. Impact was stuck way too much in a late 90s mindset and kept having morons with too much control running the company.

Then you have stuff like ROH which helped contribute towards modern wrestling being more work-rate based but failed to capitalize on it because they couldn't grow as a company due to poor ownership. Also the immense damage MMA did towards making wrestling less cool in the mainstream when UFC had their boom in the mid-2000s.

According to the Observer, both AEW and WWE had reps at this past week's PWG Battle of Los Angeles tournament.

WWE seems to be interested the most in Jake Atlas while AEW seems to be interested the most in Atlas, Artemis Spencer, and Black Taurus.

He's not wrong but his whole point was that it's not cool to the mainstream. It's never been a cool thing. What sports/entertainment property in the 90s didn't strive? That was the last time wrestling was huge but it still didn't hold any weight to the NBA, NFL, and MLB. Hell NASCAR was bigger than wrestling in the 90's and early 2ks. They're all forms of entertainment and each has it's own die hards with some carry over. Wrestling has the advantage of being able to write the story but it also comes with the fake narrative.

Supposedly it all revolves around two issues.

Rush and other younger talent were pissed that the company started cutting their paychecks but refused to do the same to older talent. According to Lucha Blog, there were rumblings Rush wanted out of the company as a result.

Lucha Blog also stated that Lee got punished for working this year's Battle of LA tournament but CMLL didn't have any real plans to release him. They ended up doing so due to his association with Rush and likely to one-up them on the big announcement they were making this Monday.

I don’t watch much NXT anymore because it just makes me sad knowing the endgame is either shitty WWE booking or endless “developmental”.

That being said, Keith Lee is a fucking star waiting to be made.

Yes and he's fantastic!

Not that anybody asked or gives a shit... but I personally still don't see it. Maybe I will in time, but at the moment, nah.

With that said, I can't deny how fucking over he is and has been in NXT, and should be pushed accordingly. He is like the complete opposite of Corbin (who was exposed and turned on by the crowd after the first few squash matches), has the crowd eating out of his hand in a way similar to "raise/lower volume" thing Mark Henry used to do, and is pretty athletic (maybe a bit too much so - for both sake of big man psychology and the toll of moving all that around like that consistently over time can and will have on his body) and is another guy who seems like he should be hitting pretty much every box down the Vince checklist.

So long as he doesn't become "The Keith Experience" or saddled with something on par with the Mike Kanelis nonsense on the main roster or worst of all, just being left off of TV entirely for months at a time, there is no reason fan shouldn't be proven right about him being a star waiting to be made.

ROH has been upset with CMLL for a while due to their restrictions and streaming issues for shows which has affected ROH by association. They also would be willing to end the CMLL relationship if RUSH's ROH title reign ends up being a big success and CMLL tries to cause problems with it.

NJPW also has some unfavorable views of CMLL and have no problem ending the relationship if it meant getting to keep Dragon Lee and not have to deal with any headaches from CMLL. NJPW is willing to keep the relationship active till at least next January for the Fantasticamania 2020 tour but also have no problems with dropping it either.

Then you have other issues going on like a potential mass exodus of young talent happening soon in CMLL and Rev Pro might also consider ending their ties with CMLL if CMLL causes any problems with their British J-Cup plans.

Surprised this segment at one point didn't turn into a fight between show and rodimer, you can see rodimer intentionally sandbagging the slam but he got heaved up for it anyway, seemed like there was something going on between those 2.

Also the reason Nick Mitchell in this gets a slap is because wwe (as usual) edited something out. Mitchell initially took a slam and no sold it by popping right back up and walked upto big show, hence the slap and another harder slam which he stayed down on. That's also why you see show looking over at Snow like he's asking if this moron knows what he's doing.

According to Fightful, Rush is staying in ROH for at least another year. His current contract didn't expire until early next year but with the CMLL issues, seems he decided to get a new deal done sooner than later.

Also Matt Taven's new contract with ROH ended up being somewhere between 2x to 3x more than what the top stars in NXT earn ($100k range).
