Yeah my dad keeps going on about the rounds/public warnings and the like from world of sport era, would just like them to reintroduce time limits as a regular thing. There was a feud in the late 90s where the matches kept ending by time limit, wanna say HHH was involved, they just extended the time limit for a couple of weeks and eventually the PPV match stip was no time limit, really simple logical booking that could add a bit of drama if used right.
Drew will be fine though, really underutilized talent.
AJ being pregnant is just an internet rumour for now anyways.....
But will CM Punk walk out on fatherhood when the baby is put over in the main event and receives more attention than him?!?!
Only if the baby first gets a gig in a Marvel movie and then comes back to the main event scene.

i know they busted out a rounds match between Nigel mcguinness and colt cabana in ROH back in 2005 or so. it was interesting. could definitely work in wwe if booked properly.

Obviously they could still do this but without Drew. Hope he ends up in TNA.
I've been coming across a few people on the internet that are jumping to conclusions and saying that Drew will definitely be going to TNA.
Their reason for thinking that is because Drew said on Jericho's podcast that he wanted to "make an impact".

Depends how much clout his ex has there and how much he asks for I suppose. Could see him doing a few tours of Japan just to give himself a breather from the US scene.

southern tag team great Don Greene has passed away.
He and brother Al were huge stars down in Tennessee for Nick Gulas in the 60's and 70's as The Original Heavenly Bodies.
Man those fans certainly hated those two back in the day.

I like that the Titantrons (Apart from Stardust & Rosa's, for obvious reasons) are actually showing moves now. For a long time, the average Titantron just showed the name, the wrestler's face, the wrestler interacting with the crowd and the wrestler posing.
They showed practically no wrestling.

Not gonna deny, I'm totally amazed at how awesome Dean Ambrose works as a face.
Let's be honest here, everybody here always figured Ambrose would eventually turn out to be the 'snake-in-the-grass' that turned on the Shield. But so far his crazy, revenge-driven face persona is pretty awesome.
I still wish the Shield were together though. :(

I don't get why him and Roman Reigns have gone their separate ways. "One of our brothers turned on us, I guess there's no point of us being brothers anymore either. Seeya."
Ambrose seemed to be the most pissed off at Rollins and being the crazy guy he is, he won't stop until he finally gets Rollins and kicks his ass.
Reigns on the other hand, is angry at Triple H for everything Triple H has done to him (and also Ambrose) recently. (The attacks on The Shield that Triple H coordinated, the handicap matches that Triple H set up, The whole Evolution/Shield feud, as both men were the leaders of each group, and Triple H forbidding Roman Reigns from entering the battle royal this week) Reigns wants to get back at Triple H for all that.
So both Ambrose and Reigns are focusing on/after two different guys, so they quietly went their separate ways to go after those separate men, disbanding The Shield in the process. Though I'm sure they're still going to work together every now and then, as Triple H and Rollins will most likely be doing that too.

Dirtsheets:
WWE issued a survey this week to fans on their mailing list and asked if Brock Lesnar challenges for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view, who should he face.
The options were all 7 Superstars in the Money In the Bank Ladder Match for the vacant title. Roman Reigns is currently leading the vote with almost 50%. Cesaro is in second place followed by Bray Wyatt and John Cena tied, Randy Orton, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio last with just 2%.
At press time, it's looking like John Cena is going to get the title at Money in the Bank
The plan for Stardust is that if it catches on, he and Goldust get a tag title shot at SummerSlam. If it doesn't, then we finally get Cody vs. Goldust at SummerSlam.
The More You Know: One of the McMahons had bad coffee recently, and somehow that led to the angle with Reigns spiking Stephanie's coffee with ipecac or whatever on Raw.

<font color=goldenrod>Rollins got the short end of the stick. Awful gear and an even worse theme. Glad somebody kept the Shield theme even if it was unnecessarily remixed. Ambrose's theme is a bit generic but the opening is still distinctive and it fits a crazy person. Ditto with his look. Basic but it works.
The only complaint I'd have is that Ambrose should still be entering from the crowd. Especially with his new look. Would make it appear that he just drove up to the arena with his only goal being to fuck shit up.</font>

Dean Ambrose's new look and theme are pretty cool (Ambrose's theme reminds me of The Joker's theme from Batman), but I feel that the aesthetic change for Ambrose has come a bit soon. If The Authority hate the guy so much, why give him new music? It kind of shatters the fourth wall a bit.

Heath Slater is fucking great and is getting better all the time. I'd like to see him continue to get involved in Rusev's business. Have him face Rusev again this week on RAW and cut a pre-match promo:
Slater
Why I did I challenge you to another match, Rusev? Firstly, it's always good to see Lana in them dresses. Secondly, I know I can beat you. People think I am an insane for wanting to get back in the ring with you, Rusev, but I'm Heath Slater, babaaaay! I'm a former three-time WWE Tag Team Champion. How many titles have you won?
Slater then holds his own with some quick jabs before an angry Rusev gives chase around the ringside area to Slater, who slides into the ring and hits a leg lariat. Slater then hits a flashpoint from the second rope for a two count on Rusev, as the commentators talk about how well Slater is doing. A Smash Hit is countered and Rusev then finishes off Slater with The Accolade. The hold is kept in and the referee reverses his decision -- the winner of the match as a result of a disqualification...Heath Slater! Rusev continues his beat-down of Slater, and Big E runs out for the save.
This all leads to Rusev vs. Jack Swagger vs. Big E vs. Heath Slater at Money in the Bank.

Of course they are. This way TNA gets to make a big deal at least twice, once for when they go back to six sides, and then once when they eventually go back to four sides again.

I get the promo complaints about Paige, but she has gotten so much better. It's just her accent. Her work at NXT Takeover was quite good, for example.
I don't like the way she's being handled on the main roster. They are almost trying to push two ideas with Paige: One is that she's this stellar in-ring performer from NXT, and another that she is this fluky girl who still needs to prove herself. Those ideas just aren't compatible. She should be booked more dominantly, in my opinion. I can understand her getting the crap kicked out of her by Tamina only to come back and win the match, but Alicia Fox shouldn't be dominating her as much as she is. And I disagree with both the falls Paige has taken since winning the Divas Title. There were better ways to set up matches with Alicia Fox and now Naomi.

Nelson announced in the mid to late 80s for Verne Gagne, during the last years of the promotion. In 2000, Nelson wrote an autobiography called "Stranglehold," focusing on his time in wrestling.

While I wouldn't go so far as to say he is fantastic, he is definitely ok.
Agree on the rest though. Everyone gets thrown into the barricades in ridiculous manners at times in WWE. Not Swagger's fault at all that Barrett got injured on impact to the barricade. If anything I would say it is more Barrett's fault for not taking the bump properly. Then again I haven't seen it, so I don't blame either man for the incident.
I'm starting to wonder if Barrett might be a little injury prone.
Cool King
06-25-2014, 08:31 AM
Yeah, I tend to throw "fantastic" around when I actually mean "good" and so on.
I really like Swagger, he's pretty much got everything. I just hate to see him jobbing and pretty much not doing much. Unlike most people, I loved it when he was World Heavyweight Champion, though I will say it didn't really go anywhere and his run as champion wasn't really a successful one. :-\
But along with being great in the ring, Swagger is the kind of guy that can make anything work. Like The Swagger Soaring Eagle. He was given a guy in a bird costume and told to run around with it. Something like that would probably ruin most guys and it would probably lead to their release not long after, but Swagger made it work and he's still here today, with a great gimmick, having great matches and having matches on PPV's.
He also managed to make being Michael Cole's trainer work too, which along with The Swagger Soaring Eagle, I thought were great.
But I don't understand why people are hating Swagger for "what he did to Barrett", when like you said, it would be Barrett's fault for not taking the bump correctly.
But I do get the feeling that Barrett may be injury prone, which is really not good for him at all.

06-25-2014, 08:37 AM
I was going to follow up and say Ziggler is another guy that shouldn't be jobbing as much, but it seems he may be getting a little push again. Which he should.
Depending on how long Barrett is going to be out for, I see Ziggler maybe getting an IC run soon.
Actually, I can see the IC title being put up there with the MITB briefcase in that match now. Winner gets the title and a shot at the big gold.

So far there's only four matches, but I get the feeling another one will be added on the night.
Probably Rusev vs Big E or some jobber.
Anyway, the matches:
Alberto Del Rio/Bray Wyatt/Cesaro/John Cena/Kane/Randy Orton/Roman Reigns/Sheamus - Ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
The Usos/The Wyatt Family - WWE Tag Team Championship
Bad News Barrett/Dean Ambrose/Dolph Ziggler/Jack Swagger/Kofi Kingston/Rob Van Dam/Seth Rollins - Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship contract
Paige/Naomi - Singles match for the WWE Divas Championship

Dirtsheets:
Reigns is clearly being positioned as the hottest babyface, and as the guy to replace Cena, whose body is starting to break down. This bypasses Bryan, who had been the most popular wrestler in the company until going down with neck surgery.
TNA just announced at their press conference in New York City that Bound For Glory will be held Sunday October 12 in Tokyo, Japan at Korakuen Hall.
The WrestleMania payoffs should be coming in the next two weeks, which will be the first PPV show since the network launch. Most talent doesn’t know how the pay is going to be structured, whether they will be paid just on PPV buys, in which case pay will be way down from recent years, or if their pay takes network reenue into account, in which case pay would still be down, but not as much. There is already unhappiness since even though houses are slightly up from last year with higher ticket prices and pretty much the same attendance, house show pay is significantly down. The wrestlers are mostly talking about it being a function of network losses, and there may be something to it, but another factor is that the house show expenses are up so the profit end, which the wrestlers are really paid out of, is down about 20 percent.
Months ago, Jonathan Coachman hinted that he was going to come back and work in a limited role on the network. We’d heard about the deal shortly before the network launched and Coachman had teased that he would have an announcement coming soon regarding wrestling. Coachman was going to stay with ESPN, just do some network projects. Evidently it fell through since when Coachman was asked on Twitter by someone who said that everyone wanted to see him back, and he responded by writing, “Except WWE.”
Corey Graves of NXT is out of action with a concussion. This is the second concussion he’s received over a short period of time.
the Stephanie McMahon/Vickie Guerrero segment at the top of the third hour with all the women rolling around in mud, or whatever it was supposed to be, spiked big and led to a big third hour increase.

Those things used to confuse me as a kid. Especially the "Slam Of The Week".
Mostly because there was no slam involved in most of them. There were times were there was no wrestling moves at all in that weeks "Slam Of The Week", and it was just someone saying something on the mic or backstage, and I would be left thinking "Where's the slam!?".

As for that Battledome business, not only did I use to think "T-Money" was a shoe-in to cross over to wrestling(as opposed to becoming a huge star of movies, TV and Old Spice commercials), but for awhile, I thought that one biker guy whose name I can't remember was Marc Mero.

Dirtsheets:
Word within WWE is that Rusev vs. Big E will be added to Sunday's Money In the Bank pay-per-view. It was not officially announced at last night's SmackDown tapings but was heavily teased
There's talk of holding the 2014 WWE Slammy Awards at the December 29th RAW from Washington, DC.
There no longer appears to be a timetable for AJ's returning to WWE's squared circle. People within WWE are apparently in the dark concerning her future in the sports-entertainment organization as Dave Meltzer states in this week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that "nobody has said anything about her of late." He reported on May 21 that she was expected to return late that month or in June, or at least shortly after her wedding took place.
As seen on this week's WWE Main Event, Roman Reigns was being interviewed in the ring by Renee Young when Reigns suggested that she take off her high heels because if someone came out to attack him, she would need to run away in a hurry. This was done as another rib to Renee. It's known within WWE that Renee often doesn't wear shoes when she's working backstage. Renee was previously ribbed for this by Triple H last month on a post-show.
WWE is now billing Stephanie McMahon as "The principal owner of World Wrestling Entertainment" instead of "one of the principal owners." When it comes to Vince McMahon, there is some significance in that small change of wording. With plans falling through months ago for Vince McMahon to return to TV in time for the WrestleMania XXX storylines, the impression was given that while Vince will appear on TV when he has to, such as a tribute to a documentary, the Mr. McMahon character has been retired for the time being and Stephanie would be the McMahon owning the company on TV
The release of announcer Josh Mathews came as a big shock to most people within WWE. Mathews release was part of the going budget cuts. WWE had been making cuts in each department and Mathews was apparently at the bottom of the announcers list.
WWE has released monthly business figures that include a preliminary figure of 107,000 PPV buys for Extreme Rules in May. Notable in the break down is that only 40,000 PPV buys were domestic and the remaining 67,000 buys came from international sources. Extreme Rules was the second PPV of the Network era, creating an intersection of people watching the PPV on the Network, major satellite and cable providers dropping WWE PPVs, and Extreme Rules being the first PPV after the expensive WM30 event. The result was a 54 percent decline in PPV-only buys from Extreme Rules 2013. Whether or not WWE made up for that drop through Network subscriptions is in question until WWE releases their next subscriber count and revenue totals when they report Third Quarter 2014 earnings later this summer.
Recent WWE survey about the WWE Network had these as new possible features with it being likely they all get added at some point in the future:
-"Bookmarking" programs to pick up later where you left off
-"Watch list" that allows you to select shows to watch in the future (similar to Netflix Instant Queue)
-"Recommendations" for shows you may enjoy based on what you have already watched
-"Editors Picks" list of shows to watch programmed by WWE's own staff
-"What's Hot" listing of the most watched programs on WWE Network
-"What am I watching?" feature telling you detailed information on the program you are watching with the click of a button
-Multiple cameras choice feature which allows you to select different camera angles for viewing.

Yeah, it's kind of a pain, and it's the main reason I haven't worked through much in the way of old PPVs during my lunch breaks. It's still pretty great, but having bookmarking would be amazing.

Mic Foley, on a text message he intended to send to Brie Bella:
"I was sending a text message, one I thought I was sending to Brie, and I told her I was going to get in touch with [Vince] McMahon," said Foley. "I rarely interfere in the course of WWE events, but when I do, I like to think my opinion carries some weight. I sent what I thought was my message to Brie, saying, 'Give Daniel a hug and tell him how wrong I think this whole thing is.' I was pretty new to the iPhone. My son looked at my phone and said, 'Dad, you just sent that to Mr. McMahon.' My next message was, 'Oops.'"

I always find it fascinating to envision people in great positions of power having actual phones and phone numbers to be contacted at. I mean, it's absolutely ludicrous to think that Vince wouldn't have a phone, but just picturing him being so accessible is a bizarre concept to me. It's like trying to picture Hitler pooping or something. THEY AREN'T REAL PEOPLE

While WWE had the leaked SummerSlam DVD cover removed this week, they issued a news alert on their mailing list today with a copy of the poster and the following caption: "We have an early sneak peek at SummerSlam's poster, which seems to pit John Cena against the man that brought down the streak, Brock Lesnar. August 17 can't come fast enough!"

Cameron may be getting involved in the Naomi vs. Paige Divas Title Match at Money In the Bank to further her break-up angle with Naomi.
WWE superstar Bo Dallas got married yesterday.
Bo married former NXT diva Sarah Backman who got released in April.
Thursday night's Impact Wrestling taping in New York City was one of the best tapings the company has had in years and in speaking to a number of people who work for the company after the show, it was being praised as one of the top three or five best TNA events in the company's history.
Scott Fishman, Senior vice president and executive producer of Spike was in attendance at the taping. There were some Spike employees at the taping yesterday, but Fishman is a top level exec with the cable network and has had a long standing relationship with TNA.
Company morale was extremely up after the taping. There was a feeling that the crew had accomplished something special and that it was a night where a lot of talents who had worked hard but hadn't been spotlighted as stars received a star reaction. I would say that was a fair assessment as there were names like The Wolves who received a homecoming welcome from the audience that made them look far more important than they had been coming off. TNA staff who had never really seen how loud and passionate the NYC fans could get were blown away.
