Apparently the person who inspired the name for Vince McMahon's first wrestling-related company, Titan Sports Inc, passed away on Wednesday.

Vince would later use Titan Sports to purchase WWF from his father and then years later renamed it to WWF making them the same company instead of separate ones.

It was announced last night that author Clive Cussler passed away at 88. The title of his book Raise the Titanic inspired the naming of Titan Sports as Vince McMahon liked the name when he saw it on the book.

I don't do that on here, because I don't mind being obnoxious as fuck about something I am passionate about. I'm sure most wrestling fans find me insufferable. I tend to form my views based on data and what I think is good taste and informed opinions. That is why when I criticize something it rubs people the wrong way -- it rankles them because they know I've got a good fucking point >90% of the time and it challenges their taste.

Seems WWE is currently going after The Revival's trademark filings based on recent trademarks filed by the company.

One of the trademarks being opposed is the Revival's "No Flips, Just Fists" phrase although WWE's filing doesn't have the comma included.

After The Revival applied to trademark “Top Guys,” “Say Yeah,” and “No Flips, Just Fists,” WWE filed trademarks for “The Mechanics” and “No Flips Just Fists.” The Revival weren’t one of the six teams announced for the SmackDown Tag Team title Elimination Chamber match. It will be The Miz & John Morrison defending against The New Day, The Usos, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode, The Lucha House Party, and Heavy Machinery.

Better Superman Punch than the one Roman Reigns spams during matches. What helps is that OC's motion and the camera cut made it look a lot more impactful than the goofy way its done in WWE.

And they remained pretty over for awhile in spite of it, much like Motor City Machine Guns were in TNA when those two were getting pretty much the same treatment as these guys in WWE, but over a massively longer stretch of time.

It's too bad that they can't get Clint Bobski back. But if the timeframe of season 3 is legit, they've hopefully found an opponent for Debbie by now. And for some reason, I wonder if they'll have gimmicks akin to "Making A Difference" Savio Vega, Skinner, and Hakushi. And more importantly, will this mean the return of Porkchop Jones?

Season 2 of Viceland's Dark Side of the Ring is currently expected to debut later this month.

The Benoit episode is getting special treatment in the form of being 2 hours in length instead of the typical 1 hour for episodes in the series.

The second season of Viceland's 'Dark Side of The Ring' docuseries focusing on some of the seedier and infamous stories throughout the history of pro wrestling is going to return in late-March.

The news was first reported by PWInsider and confirmed independently with sources close to the show. There is no exact date for the season kickoff as of this point.

While season one featured six episodes, season two will be ten episodes with nine subjects meaning one will be two hours instead of their customary one. Some of the topics confirmed include:

The Chris Benoit story (expected to be the two hour focus)
Brawl For All
The life and times of Dino Bravo
New Jack
Herb Abrams, founder of the UWF
The life and times of Owen Hart

Somehow WWE still treats their affiliated promotions in the UK and Europe worse than those they consider to be their enemy.

Only reason wXw didn't bother to initially book any AEW or NJPW affiliated talent for this year's Carat of Gold tournament was due to WWE promising them WWE/NXT talent if they didn't. Then WWE decides to just break their promise afterwards.

I'm not surprised. It makes more sense to buy a Japanese promotion than start one up from scratch. WWE buying them wouldn't mean they'd get the AJPW tape library would it? Because their best chance of getting me to resubscribe to the WWE Network is that sexy, sexy library.

Probably a good thing for AEW, by proxy. New Japan are probably more likely to get skittish if WWE and AJPW start cross-promoting. Might get them to join AEW, even though they are a philosophical mismatch.

According to this week's Observer Newsletter, Vince might be considering dropping Baszler as the challenger for Becky's RAW Women's title at Mania.

Seems he wasn't fond of her match against Kairi on RAW nor the reactions she's been getting from crowds.

If Baszler doesn’t win, that wouldn’t bode well for her, since it would make twice that Vince McMahon would have changed his mind on her. Baszler was the original pick to win the Rumble only to have McMahon a week out change plans to Charlotte Flair and have Baszler win the Chamber. But there was negativity and uncertainty regarding McMahon’s reaction to Baszler’s match with Kairi Sane on Raw not getting the desired reaction and Baszler not coming off like a WrestleMania headliner.

According to the Observer, Vince once again got in the mood for some script rewriting this week with RAW affected the most.

Vince McMahon did some of his usual Raw rewriting this week, including the reveal of Erick Rowan’s pet, Ricochet’s loss to Riddick Moss and more. The WON reports that McMahon rewrote several segments including Rowan’s reveal that he had a tarantula in his cage. He also reworked the Ricochet vs. Riddick Moss match, which was supposed to be Moss vs. R-Truth initially. McMahon changed R-Truth to Ricochet and called for a clean win by Moss.

Also rewritten was Aleister Black’s gauntlet match with The Club, specifically handing Black his first loss at Styles’ hands.

WWE has announced that -- after the angle where he was attacked by Jack Gallagher last week -- Lio Rush is out of next week’s 205 Live Captain’s Challenge match. The 10-man elimination tag match will be Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Tyler Breeze, Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch, and a mystery partner vs. Tony Nese, Mike Kanellis, Brian Kendrick, Ariya Daivari & Gallagher. It was also announced earlier this week that Rush was pulled from wXw’s 16 Carat Gold tournament this weekend due to his WWE schedule.

They pulled Lio out of wXw's tournament at the last minute and a match that had been being built up for the past few weeks on 205 Live for this stupid idea.

NXT Creative is just as bad as WWE Creative when it comes to handling the cruiser division.

Based on recent reports, Tampa city officials are currently expected to inform WWE tomorrow that they can't hold WrestleMania 36 in the city.

Tampa area reporter Jon Alba noted on Twitter today that there could be an update on the status of WrestleMania 36 within the next 24 hours, which may not be good for WWE.

"I do believe we will hear an update on the status of #WrestleMania within 24 hours or so. And I would suspect things aren't trending in a positive direction. #WWE," Alba tweeted.

Furthermore, @Wrestlevotes also indicated today that things aren't looking good. The Twitter source has broken several recent stories, including Samoa Joe's WWE Wellness Policy suspension.

"I asked a few sources about Mania & the Corona situation. Some had no info to relay. One said: 'if it can go on as planned, it will' Safe to say WWE just doesn't know yet. All very fluid. All TBD," they wrote earlier this afternoon.

WWE's rush to file a bunch of ECW and WCW trademarks a while ago sort of backfired on them. Only 4 passed the initial approval stage while the rest got hit with an initial rejection because of issues with the filings.

Here is an update on the ECW and WCW titles that WWE filed to trademark several months ago:

*Cyberslam and Hardcore Heaven - Will be published for opposition as of 3/17.

*Barely Legal and Massacre on 34th Street - Will be published for opposition as of 3/24.

(Beach Blast, Mayhem, Uncensored, Greed, Road Wild, Capital Combat, Hog Wild, New Blood Rising, Souled Out, Sin, CHI-Town Rumble, World War 3, Anarchy Rulz, Heat Wave, Living Dangerously - All have been given an initial refusal mainly because they require an identification of services amendment.

Its more so of they only rushed to get a ton of them filed at once in reaction to MLW and Cody/AEW wanting to use old WCW names. Had Vince not had a big hatred of anything WCW related, WWE wouldn't have let those trademarks expire years ago.

In a span of a week, WWE got hit with two new lawsuits. These join the Saudi and investors related lawsuits the company is currently dealing with.

One involves some comments WWE made regarding the coronavirus and a pharmaceutical company that ended up damaging the pharmaceutical company's stocks afterwards.

Post Stock News’ has information up about a lawsuit that WWE is involved in with Tilray, Inc. and Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and both claimed that WWE has made misleading statements about their respective companies. Inovio is involved because they’re claiming WWE made misleading statements about the company’s development of a vaccine for the coronavirus which led to them losing a number of shareholders.

The other involves a different company claiming WWE infringed on their patent for streaming tech being used on the WWE Network.

In an article written by David Bixenspan on Forbes, WWE is being sued by Rothschild Broadcast Distribution Systems for a software patent infringement in relation to the WWE Network. The patent in question refers to the basic function of subscription streaming video services. The lawsuit was filed in United States District Court for the District of Delaware and the complaint doesn’t name a specific amount of damages requested.

Apparently the biggest downside to WWE freezing and extending contract at will is they don't have to pay talent for the added time if the amount goes over their contractual downside.

Meltzer reported The Revival haven't been paid for a while due to this happening to them.

So this is the updated situation on The Revival, which was first reported by Fightful.com. As mentioned last week, the two have been taken off all bookings. Because both have already earned more than their contractual downside over the course of the contract, they are no longer being paid, in this case Dawson through early April and Wilder through mid-June. Both have asked for releases multiple times.
