Recent stuff from the dirtsheets:

John Cena and Daniel Bryan vs. Erick Rowan, Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt in handicap matches are set for the post-Royal Rumble WWE live events.

WWE NXT Women's Champion Paige returned to work on Monday at the WWE Performance Center. It was originally reported she was out with an injury but The Wrestling Observer reported she was given some time off for personal reasons. She tweeted on Tuesday that she had a great day at the Performance Center and is very excited for the future.

WWE's plan going forward is to push Batista heavily in the storylines. Plans do change but the idea since signing him was for him to win the Royal Rumble match and go on to headline WrestleMania XXX.

You may remember a few month back it was reported Dolph Ziggler lost his push because of something he said in an interview around the time of SummerSlam. No other details were available but we now know that it was Ziggler's comments about Randy Orton that got him in hot water with WWE officials. Here's what Ziggler said to MLive.com on September 4th:

"I've made it clear; I'm not patient at all - several times. I've been very vocal about my position on the card and in the company. I'm not trying to say 'Hey, everybody sucks and I'm great!' But I love doing this, and at some point you go 'OK, It's not my time right now and I got to figure something out' And when it's time, that's when I must go out there and make as huge of an impact as I can and let everyone know 'I dare you to follow that, I dare you try something better.' And when they don't (counter or match what I'm doing in the ring) I'm very outspoken about it and it can get me into very hot water (with the company).

"Then you never know where we're going. Everybody can be just so outspoken about taller guys, and guys like Randy Orton being the face of the WWE, the WWE Championship. I dare you to put me in a back alley with Randy Orton or someone like that. I guarantee I'm not afraid of someone taller."

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2014/0123/569479/former-wwe-star-hospitalized-with-heart-issues/

- Former WWE star Rosey (Matt Anoi'a) has developed early stages of congestive heart failure and a condition called atrial fibrillation. He was hospitalized this week with his enlarged heart functioning at 25%. His heart issues led to a lot of fluid buildup. 62 pounds of fluid have been drained from his body and doctors are hoping to drain another 30 pounds before he leaves the hospital in a few days. Anoi'a is the older brother of WWE Superstar Roman Reigns.

Recent stuff from the dirtsheets (All from the Observer):

Wrestling legend Bobby Eaton was in critical condition this past week after being upgraded and moved into a regular hospital room on January 18th. He's suffering from heart issues, complications from diabetes and a stomach ulcer. As we have noted, Eaton will be entering WWE-sponsored rehab as soon as his health is better.

Goldust says he will be "unveiling something special" on the WWE Royal Rumble Kickoff pre-show this Sunday

As things stand right now, Hulk Hogan will not be wrestling at WrestleMania XXX but will be making some sort of appearance. Word is that Hogan was examined by WWE doctors and the company has made the call to not only not put him in a match, but not to book anything physical involving him. There has been some talk of bringing Hogan back on the February 24th RAW with several other big names. That is the night after Elimination Chamber when the WWE Network launches.

Kazarian and Daniels' TNA contracts expire in April and it's said that Daniels has one of the better remaining contracts still on the books. There is strong speculation that Daniels will be the next one to get the cost-cutting treatment. Most everyone left who still has a good contract expects things to change as soon as their deals are up.

Ed Asner stars as wrestling promoter Frank Bass.

From Wikipedia:
Verne Gagne also stars in the movie as Mike Bollar, the current wrestling champion of his "league." Billy Robinson plays Bollar's latest challenger, Billy Taylor. After a long reign as champion, Bollar is getting older and feeling pressure from all sides, including his wife and wrestling promoters, to pass the championship to Taylor and retire. Bollar's resistance to their requests that he step aside is the central conflict in the film.

Many American Wrestling Association performers appear in the movie. Among them are "Superstar" Billy Graham, "Rick Flair" (credited with that spelling in the credits), Dusty Rhodes, Dick Murdoch, Dick the Bruiser, Dory Funk, Jr., Ray Stevens, Pedro Morales, Ken Patera, Nick Bockwinkel, Dan Gable, Eddie Graham, Jim Brunzell, and more. Some of the said wrestlers are simply featured in clips from wrestling shows without adding to the actual plot or having them on the set of the film in actual roles.

Former World Wrestling Federation chairman, Vincent J. McMahon, makes an appearance in an actual acting role and not a clip from a wrestling broadcast.

Daniel Bryan was asked by ST Communities if he will be participating in the 30-man Battle Royal match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.

"As of now, I'm not in the 30-man Royal Rumble match, I'm trying to get involved in it," Bryan replied. "Triple H doesn't want me anywhere in the Royal Rumble match."

Bryan also mentioned in the interview that if he's not wrestling for the WWE World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania, then he would like to face Triple H since he's been keeping him away from his goals. As an alternative match to Triple H, he said he would also like a shot at The Undertaker's streak.

We still don't know if Sheamus is scheduled to make his return at Sunday's WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view but we now know he is returning soon because he's penciled into one of the top 5 matches at WrestleMania XXX.

Current plans as of today, January 24th, have Sheamus facing Daniel Bryan in a singles match at WrestleMania.

This will be the third WrestleMania match between the two. They faced in a Lumberjack dark match resulting on a no contest at WrestleMania 27 and Sheamus defeated Bryan in 18 seconds at WrestleMania 28.

Plans can always change six weeks out but word as of today that the Sheamus vs. Bryan match is pretty much set in stone.

<font color=goldenrod>Ahahaha. Could they have possibly written that in a way that covers their own ass any more?

At least if it happened it should be a wonderful match as they have fantastic chemisty and should actually get time this go-around. Potential show stealer especially if Orton/Batista, HHH/Punk etc. go on as rumored. Still feel like WWE are colossally retarded if they don't put Bryan in the title match tho.</font>

Feasibly it could even be for the title with Bryan winning the Rumble and Sheamus becoming the new corporate champion at Elimination Chamber or something. Dunno if it'd actually work out that way, though.</font>

What the hell was the point of the whole Xavier Woods/R-Truth vs. Brodus Clay storyline?

Brodus turned heel, but he hasn't got any more over, perhaps even going down on the pecking order, jobbing to people faster than ever. Tensai hasn't benefited either, and has all but disappeared. Had one match against Brodus as the "split" match, and that was it.

The word going around TNA is that Vince Russo is once again working for the company. According to several sources, TNA reached out to several creative people over the past month or so and Russo was one of those people.

Although it’s not confirmed that Russo is back, a number of people within the company believe 100% that Russo is back and working with creative. Russo’s email was copied over in some recent emails between members of TNA’s creative team.

The official response from a company spokesperson is that Russo is not back working with the company. They may be trying to keep things quiet as of now

I can't wait to hear Sheamus pronounce "Authority" in his accent. I'd actually like Sheamus to be a corporate heel who makes Randy Orton a little nervous.

For weeks I've wanted to see CM Punk take the Royal Rumble, but now I'm once again thinking that the obvious booking is Daniel Bryan winning the match. I see Luke Harper and Erick Rowan attacking Bryan in his match against Bray Wyatt, causing the disqualification. A beat-down ensues and Bryan is laid out with Sister Abigail. Bryan then comes out all battered for the Royal Rumble Match and wins the whole thing.

Is TNA at this point, dumber than WCW in it's dying days? Like, WCW's booking was nonsense, but at least they had the common sense to push guys that were over, like Goldberg and DDP, and keep them over.

Was watching the Samoa Joe stuff when Angle first came in and hoooooooooly shit was Joe hot. How did they fuck up so badly with him. Dude should be their top non-WWE/WCW talent. Instead we have fucking Magnus. Dreadful.

I think Jim Cornette said it best. "TNA couldn't book Lassie in a pet shop."

Mr. Nerfect
01-25-2014, 05:27 AM
Magnus is getting better all the time, but he doesn't seem like the guy you want carrying the company just yet. I'd have liked to have seen him as Television Champion, if TNA hadn't run that title right into the ground. A mentor vs. student feud between Doug Williams and Magnus would have been ripe bananas.

The scheduling of the UK tour for TNA was pretty bad for this, but I honestly think that Jeff Hardy should have been the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Some might think this bone-headed, but if Hardy beat Magnus and then couldn't go on the tour, you could have had Magnus serve as the star of the tour and bad-mouth Hardy every chance he got to actually build to a match between the two.

Samoa Joe has been pretty badly handled by TNA since Vince Russo took over creative until now. My heart randomly decided that it wanted Christopher Daniels to be the guy who got the Option C shot at Destination X this year (which is apparently happening in April), but smark booking would be to give it to Joe and use Daniels & Kazarian as serious Tag Team Champions. I don't hate The BroMans as much as everyone else in the world, but they just aren't Tag Champ material at this point. Let Daniels & Kazarian feud with The Wolves heading into Destination X. If I were TNA, I would be trying to throw a lot of money at Kharma to get her to return as Awesome Kong for a Knockout Title match with Gail Kim at that PPV too.

Actually, I wanna see Fandango win the Rumble but if we're going more realistic, Bray Wyatt.

Mr. Nerfect
01-25-2014, 05:31 AM
I'm digging Wyatt as a promo, but I'm not really on board with him headlining WrestleMania just yet. But if he did secure the 2014 Royal Rumble (a star-making match for sure), I'd have him defeat Daniel Bryan earlier in the night in a No Disqualification Match when The Family help him out with a brutal assault taking out Bryan.

I'd also want Wyatt to win the World Title at WrestleMania and get a pretty decent heel run that is eventually ended by Bryan.

Mr. Nerfect
01-25-2014, 05:32 AM
Cena vs. Wyatt vs. Bryan would not be the worst World Title match the company could put on.

#1-norm-fan

I'd like to see Daniel Bryan as relevant yet as far away from the title as possible.

Mr. Nerfect
01-25-2014, 05:48 AM
I'd like to see Daniel Bryan vs. Shawn Michaels if HBK would be willing to work WrestleMania. Hell, Shawn Michaels will be at the Royal Rumble PPV anyway. Wyatt vs. Bryan could have the added stipulation that the winner gets #30 in the Rumble. HBK then kicks Bryan in the face while the referee is down and Wyatt wins the match and earns the coveted spot.

If they decide to go with Bryan vs. Undertaker, then I'd like to see Bryan end the streak. Fuck what everyone else says about it -- I'm not trying to provoke discussion about whether or not it should end -- I would just only want to see Bryan vs. Taker if it were going to be something that truly elevated Bryan. Even if Taker beats Bryan and then says he's an A+ player, it still feels like a bit of a lateral move for Bryan.

Other than that, I could go with Bryan kicking the crap out of Bray Wyatt and getting closure for that storyline. But I don't see why you don't end that prior to WrestleMania with so many months left. Bryan vs. Triple H is a possibility, because while Punk seems like he's heading towards The Game at WrestleMania, they could have Orton vs. Punk and Bryan vs. Triple H. The other option is probably Sheamus or Kane, representing The Authority, doing battle with a man they both have history with.

But next to beating Shawn Michaels or ending the streak, I do think Bryan winning the Royal Rumble and challenging for the World Title at Mania would be the best thing possible. A match I haven't even seen discussed for WrestleMania that I think could be pretty amazing is Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan for the World Title. You just put the title on Lesnar at Elimination Chamber and have Bryan win the Rumble.

If TNA played hard ball with AJ and low balled his worth to the company, Daniels will be lucky to even see six figures from them. It sucks, especially since Sabin has been TNA Champ and Daniels hasn't, but I don't see Daniels making it through the year on the roster.

<font color=goldenrod>PWInsider had reported Bryan/Sheamus yesterday and is now saying the top 5 Mania matches are "basically set in stone" as being:

Batista vs. Orton for the title
Taker vs. Lesnar
Cena vs. Wyatt
HHH vs. Punk
Bryan vs. Sheamus

As per usual with the dirt sheets, I call bullshit. WWE don't seem to believe in long-term planning for the most part so I can't imagine they actually have their top 5 matches already laid out. If that did wind up being the top matches on the card though, jeez. Good thing WWE Network basically gives you all the PPVs for a $10 subscription because $10 seems to be about what that card is worth. "Different strokes for different folks" and all that but for me there just really isn't much there that interests me on that proposed card, especially not for what is meant to be the biggest PPV of all time.

Very difficult to imagine me caring about Orton/Batista. I haven't given the least bit of a shit about Orton in months and Heeltista is the only Batista I like. I love Taker and Lesnar and a WM match between them has been rumored for quite some time but I don't know if Taker can really work the kind of violent, physical match that made Lesnar/Cena and Lesnar/Punk so great at this point.

Wyatt facing Cena makes sense as Wyatt is trying to take down "the machine" and I don't doubt the promos would be phenomenal, but the match itself would seem to be pretty meh, I love the guy I'm just not sure Wyatt is ready for such a big stage. Plus you can see Cena miraculously overcoming the odds and taking down the entire Family on his own coming from a mile away.

I just don't have any desire to see Triple H wrestling in 2014, but his match with Punk is virtually the one "lock" on the card based on the build already so whatever. And Bryan/Sheamus, as mentioned yesterday, makes sense if Sheamus goes corporate and brings up their past WM history but still it feels like WWE's most over commodity should be in a match higher than 5th in importance on the card.

Oh and I also read they are trying to get Warrior to do a match with Ryback. Laughed my ass off at that thought.

We'll see. Still plenty of time for things to fall into place.</font>

Batista/Orton would be a very underwhelming main event for the "30th anniversary" of Wrestlemania.

I'd have Punk win the Rumble, Cena beats Orton for the title. Cena/Punk are both hated by The Authority and so they try to take them both out. Punk has his match with HHH at Elimination Cahmber, while Cena has to deal with Orton again for a final time. They both overcome and meet each other at Mania. Daniel Bryan can be tangentially involved with helping both guys out.

Daniel Bryan then can be the one to face Randy Orton at Mania to finally get his "revenge" after everything Randy put him through. Make him tap out.

Dirtsheets stuff (All from F4W):

WWE is formulating tons of plans for Raw the night the Network launches. They'll push the hell out of the launch all night and it's going to be one of those supershows with all sorts of people being brought back. If Hogan doesn't debut at the Rumble this Sunday (and there are people in the company who think he will), he'll almost certainly debut on Network launch night. There's also been talk of bringing in HBK (pretty much a given, and if they decide to go with HBK vs. Bryan at WrestleMania that would be a great night to shoot the angle), as well as perhaps Kevin Nash and X-Pac.

For whatever it's worth, the belief within WWE is that Kurt Angle will return to WWE when his TNA deal is up, but it's very unlikely he'll ever be able to pass the company physical. The word is that he'll likely end up as a trainer for NXT.

Regarding Mania, as of Friday the Undertaker match is set in stone. There will be no Money in the Bank match at Mania this year for people wondering if they were going to axe the "PPV" and move that match to Mania again. Total Divas will be filming during Mania for whatever that's worth (would make a good circular storyline if they almost got axed from the show but then made it on at the last minute). The Network will be broadcasting tons of live feeds throughout the week leading up to the show. There will be a WrestleMania 2015 commercial airing during the show. The company is looking for corporate sponsors who will buy TV time for the show like is done for the Super Bowl.

Someone in WWE asked us to print this regarding indy talent: "While WWE does look at indy guys in L.A., they must also remember that the non-wrestling athletes and models from the agencies in L.A. almost have a better chance at getting an NXT offer. This is actually beyond a proven fact as the most recent hires are Eva and JoJo, and the whole divas camp in L.A. last January was models with no wrestling experience. So if you train and are a worker in L.A., it's highly suggested that you work other states (Texas, Florida, all up and down the East coast) to help build your resume and get noticed as opposed to getting lost in the mix of models."

I don't see why no one wants to see Taker/Brock. Are there other matches taker could be used in and maybe better ones? Of course. So why not do them later on and get this dream match out of the way? Taker has proven year and year again for like the last 5 years that he can go, especially if it's only once a year. And since Lesnar has been back he's been awesome to watch, can't wait to see what they do together at the biggest show of the year.

I wouldn't mind this card too much if you just switch the title match from Batista-Orton to Cena-Wyatt.

Heel Orton as champ hasn't done it for me and I have no interest in seeing Batista take the title off of him. They can build a good story between them without the title. Cena vs Wyatt for the title is way more intriguing.

Only matches I am even the slightest bit interesting so its a good thing I will only end up paying 10/month to see it. I am sorry, but unless Lesnar has learned how to wrestle, the Taker match is going tp be nothing but a garbage match because Lesnar copuldn't carry a tune let alone a match. Bryan vs. Sheamus looks to be nothing more then another lets job out Bryan to put over Sheamus as a heel and kill any momentum Bryan has left by that point. Odds are that unless someone gets injured he'll be putting over the big guys by late summer.

Rather see Show/Taker over Lesnar if I had to have that and nothing else.

Meanwhile, Lesnar being brought back by Triple H just makes him seem like a perfect choice for the "corporate champion". Have Bryan win the Rumble and Lesnar win the belt at the Chamber, and you set up a fantastic match and star-making moment where Bryan gets to slay the beast at Mania and finally win the title.

They could still roll with Orton/Batista in that scenario, which would be fine as a middle of the card match. I just don't buy it as the WM 30 main event.</font>

I like this idea. All of it. Lesnar vs. Bryan may be a risk to run in the main event, but the match would be tremendous and when you have other attractions like Triple H vs. CM Punk and Undertaker vs. John Cena, you can afford to take that gamble. Lesnar has looked like a beast recently, and Brock beating Cena will solidify himself as such heading into WrestleMania.

It doesn't seem very likely to me for some reason, but I do think that it would do good business for the WWE. I'm also not opposed to CM Punk winning the Rumble and then challenging Randy Orton at WrestleMania. It'd be relatively fresh and it'd be a good match. Daniel Bryan would face Shawn Michaels in my perfect world, The Undertaker vs. John Cena would go forward and Batista would face Brock Lesnar -- The Animal vs. The Beast.

First time Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler did commentary together

-From November 1983: Lanny Poffo/Iceman King Parsons vs Butch Reed/Jim Neidhart in Mid South Wrestling

-This was at a time that Lawler and Jerry Jarrett were asked by Watts to look at his promotion and help him out as business had dropped quite a bit

Jarrett/Lawler told Watts he didn't have anyone that would appeal to the female fans

Mid South soon thereafter got The Midnight Express, The Rock and Roll Express, Terry Taylor and Bill Dundee as booker

and of course the feud with the Midnight's and Rock and Roll's ignited the territory once again with some really great tag matches

Win or lose, I feel like they're saving Taker vs Cena for Taker's last match.

That's great IF you can plan when his last match will be. You could end up in a situation like with Edge and suddenly Taker has had his last match and is wasn't against Cena.

As for those proposed matches for Mania, seems like the least attractive line up you could do with the guys involved. Would probably prefer any other combination you could come up with from the 10 names listed.

Mr. Nerfect
01-26-2014, 09:55 AM
If Bryan isn't in the title match then WWE are fucking stupid.

As I've said before, if the WWE could get Shawn Michaels to work with Daniel Bryan, then it would almost be more prestigious for Bryan to face HBK at WrestleMania than even winning the World Title. But given that doesn't seem like a workable scenario, then Bryan does seem like the best choice to win the Rumble. It's just hard thinking of a suitable WrestleMania opponent for him.

Truth be told, if the WWE wanted to make a shit-load of cash, then they could have The Undertaker return and win the WWE World Title at Elimination Chamber once Bryan wins the Rumble. It'd be an easy way to set up what is allegedly Taker's preferred Mania match. At Elimination Chamber you run Bryan defending his shot against someone (perhaps the rumored Sheamus match), you have CM Punk vs. Kane, and then you have Orton defend the WWE World Title against the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Batista, Alberto Del Rio and a mystery entrant in the Elimination Chamber. The mystery entrant turns out to be Undertaker, who can be protected in the match. Batista eliminates both Del Rio and Lesnar to look like a beast, but then Brock hits Batista with a bitter F5 and Orton manages to pin him. Cena takes the Tombstone from Undertaker and is pinned, and Taker then locks in the Hell's Gate on Orton for the submission victory to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Elimination Chamber then closes with Daniel Bryan and The Undertaker staring down.

Mr. Nerfect
01-26-2014, 10:39 AM
Doing some thinking on the subject, it seems likely that Brock Lesnar would be the obvious candidate to take on whoever is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Elimination Chamber. Cena vs. Lesnar fits the face/heel dynamic of things way more than Orton vs. Lesnar, but Orton vs. Lesnar could work as far as heel vs. heel battles go. Heyman would sell the match like a genius. It'd be the youngest World Heavyweight Champion of all-time against the youngest WWE Champion of all-time.

Lesnar could possibly win the WWE World Title there and become the champion heading into WrestleMania against challenger, Daniel Bryan. Orton would be owed a rematch and would make sure that The Authority knows it. But Brock Lesnar doesn't fight for free. A Triple Threat Match is signed between the three competitors for WrestleMania XXX, which also decreases Daniel Bryan's statistical odds, which could make The Authority quite happy. John Cena would then face The Undertaker, CM Punk would scrap with Triple H and Batista and Sheamus could join forces with another babyface to challenge The Wyatt Family. That face could be anyone from Rob Van Dam to Mark Henry to Big Show to Kofi Kingston to Rey Mysterio. Depends just who they want to get on the card. I'd probably go with Big Show returning from a Lesnar-inflicted arm injury and presented as a "big deal" again.

Jeff Hardy could be brought back to the company and he could team with Christian against The Rhodes Bros. at Mania to give the Tag Team Title match a special feel. Two of the greatest tag team competitors of all-time forming a new union to take on the current champions. AJ Lee would also defend her Divas Title on the PPV, and while I would mark the fuck out for Kharma returning to challenge (fuck you all, I still hold onto hope), she could also face Paige, Emma or Trish Stratus and make it feel like a fresh and interesting match-up. Big E. Langston could defend his Intercontinental Title on the show too. His friendship with Mark Henry could lead to a title match, but I'd like to see Langston make the challenge to Chris Jericho, the most prolific IC Champion of all-time, for the show.

That would be a seven match card that would use up most of the talent that you really want to feature at WrestleMania. I suppose you could squeeze in an Alberto Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio Hair vs. Mask match, since those two guys are likely to make the card too. That's eight matches. Then you can have a Piper's Pit segment with Piper interviewing someone who matters. How about we go with Ultimate Warrior cutting an insane promo. The Miz interrupts and says that this should be Miz TV and not Piper's Pit. Fandango interrupts and dances. Wade Barrett has some Bad News and The Real Americans think this is all stupid and it's a shame they're not the card. Things break down and then Hulk Hogan makes the save and stands tall with Roddy Piper and Ultimate Warrior to close the segment.

I'm struggling to remember the last time a big "face gets a huge title win to close out WM" moment was this universally wanted. WM 21 maybe? Everybody wanted to see either Batista or Cena get the jump up at that point, and we wound up getting both.

Has some similarities to WM 20 as well in that it's the moment the vast majority of people want to see, yet nobody will believe it'll actually happen until they see it.

Regardless of how long a potential Bryan reign lasts, I just think they're fucking nuts if they don't go with the guy who has been unbelievably shit hot. Can just imagine 80,000 people in Superdome YESing to close out the show. WM was made for moments like that.</font>

Here is what I think WWE will do for WM30:

Undertaker vs John Cena
Orton vs Lesnar vs Batista
WWE World Title: CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan
Goldust vs Cody Rhodes
Shawn Michaels vs El Torito
Ironman Hell in a Cell: The Miz vs Kofi Kingston
US Title: Bob Holly vs Dean Ambrose
Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins vs King Mo

Shawn michaels vs el torito would be match of the year and well worth hbk coming out of retirement

I think ROH puts on a pretty fun "live show", but it just doesn't translate to good TV.

Their fast paced finisher after finisher style is like "Ha ha ha this is fun and crazy" live, but when watching it on TV it's like "slow down, bro. Let it breathe."

Kinda want them to have a 40 man Rumble again tonight.

You'd have chaos in the backstage as guys are fighting left and right, attacking each other trying to gain entry/steal somebody else's spot until The Authority announce that they're expanding the Rumble to keep the chaos in the ring cos that's what's best for business.

Unfortunately the undercard is so stacked they wouldn't have time.

That's the problem with submission finishers. I know pinfall finishers are going the same way with every main event match almost sure to have a finisher kick out or two but I never really felt like a submission finisher had the same "either this match is over or this is gonna be an epic moment" feel.

Alicia Fox is the longest tenured diva in WWE.

Alicia... Fox...

Indeed sad. That, and the angle of AJ being the longest reigning Diva's Champion a) is being relegated to WWE App fodder b) wasted on the fact that there is no solid Diva's roster to help anybody give a shit. Her streak is kinda like Helms with the Cruiserweight Title when there just wasn't a Cruiserweight division left anymore, or that time where there was only like two tag teams in the whole scene.

And indeed, Alicia Fox has grown to be decent in the ring... but with her tenure comes what is likely the highest streak of heel and face turns in WWE history and a laundry list of throwaway matches. That has the opposite effect from making people invest: being a perpetual loser who doesn't care what side of the fence she's on.

From the dirtsheets:

WWE is planning on turning Batista heel some time after WrestleMania XXX.

WWE is taking steps against outside groups running Wrestlemania 31 weekend in Santa Clara, CA. As part of their deal running the market, WWE has locked in a no-compete with all city owned facilities in the market as well as several larger hotel chains. Promoters who usually run conventions and wrestling shows over Mania week have been told that non-competes won't allow any wrestling events to be held in those venues. Very smart move by WWE as with very few choices in terms of venues in that market that are close to WWE's events, it makes running the weekend not as financially feasible.

WWE officials have reportedly “given up” on Sin Cara with Hunico under the mask already. They’re likely keeping the character around for merchandise sales and because he’s in the upcoming Scooby Doo WrestleMania movie.

The original plan for last night's RAW was to feature a number of qualifying matches for the Elimination Chamber match. When Vince McMahon decided the show needed to be re-written late in the afternoon, the qualifiers were dropped in favor of the six-man match. CM Punk was originally scheduled to wrestle in one of the qualifying matches but the decision was made to focus on his storyline with Kane next week.

Vince McMahon, Triple H and other WWE officials most certainly reacted to the negative crowd reaction at the Royal Rumble on Sunday but the impression was given that this will not change their WrestleMania XXX plans and Batista vs. Randy Orton will still take place. Early word also is that the reaction won't change plans for Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus at WrestleMania.

The feeling within WWE was that this year's 30-man Rumble match was a good one but there were no real highlights besides the Kofi Kingston spot. One reason for this is officials didn't start laying out the match with the wrestlers in the arena until 6pm in the evening. Jamie Noble was the head agent for the match so everything falls on him.

Very smart move by WWE as with very few choices in terms of venues in that market that are close to WWE's events, it makes running the weekend not as financially feasible.

This is like the Augusta National telling local golf courses they can't work during the Master's Tournament. I don't see why they don't instead try to work with various companies and be like "I know you want to do a show this weekend, here's the deal: we won't give you any shit, but you have to hype up our event, you have to one of your guys to put over one of the guys we'll send to get a pay day or allow our guy to do an autograph signing during intermission." Along those lines. Then they can incorporate the "WWE-Sponsored Events" around town taking place during Wrestlemania weekend.

Only downside being that the smaller shows might lose a bit of their autonomy. Beyond that, they can advertise to their usual audience that say "Zack Ryder will be wrestling so and so during our show on Wrestlemania Weekend!" Zack Ryder can tell his fans about how he'll be at this show if you want to see him in action. It works for WWE cause they can get a cut. It works for the boys because they get a payday they wouldn't normally get. It works for the promotion because they'll get fans that wouldn't normally come to their shows to see, continuing the analogy, Zack Ryder, and they're introduced to a new company. Hell, even have a scout come to a show or two to make it look like the workers have a chance to get to the next level.

DEATH OF JIMMY SNUKA'S GIRLFRIEND TO GO BEFORE GRAND JURY MANY YEARS LATER, OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY

The Allentown Morning Call reported today that a grand jury will be investigating the 1983 death of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka's girlfriend, Nancy Argentino.
While the 1983 death remained an open case in Allentown, PA, there had been no movement on it in decades and her family had not aware that the case was still considered open.

Renewed interest in the case was brought about by both the anniversary of her passing last June and Snuka openly stating his side of Argentino's passing for the first time in his autobiography, which was published last year.

According to Snuka's account, Argentino (described as his road girlfriend on the East Coast; Snuka was married at the time to his second wife) was driving him to a TV taping in Allentown when she stopped to relieve herself on the side of the road. Snuka has claimed she slipped while returning to the car and hit her head on the side of the road. They continued on to their hotel, where she complained of a headache and he left her sleeping when he left for the taping. When he returned, he realized she was having trouble breathing and called for the police. Argentino passed away hours later from complications of a head injury.

Argentino's family claims of Snuka's behavior before her passing - including an scary incident involving the couple in Upstate New York where several police officers with canine dogs had to be called to quell and arrest Snuka - as well as changes in Snuka's statements about the circumstances of Argentino's passing over the years leave at the very least, a major question mark over the hows and whys of what happened.

The Morning Call article did not note why the case was now, after all these years, going to be investigated by the grand jury.

Former WWE champion Matt Hardy was arrested at a motel in Virginia earlier this month ... after allegedly getting into a fight with his wrestler wife ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Just look at the mug shots of Hardy and 27-year-old Reby Sky -- both appear bloody and scratched up.

Hardy has multiple scratch marks all over his face and Sky -- real name Rebecca Hardy -- appears to be sporting a fat lip, black eye and several small cuts on her face.

Law enforcement tells TMZ Sports ... the couple was arrested at the Hampton Inn in Emporia, VA on January 1st around 5:45 AM.

We're told both Matt and Sky were booked for assault and battery. They were released on $3,500 bail.

Our sources tell us both Matt and Sky got restraining orders against each other.

Interesting stat: Hogan has a 97 Win 19 Loss 1 Draw record against Ric Flair

His worst opponent: Sting 3 Wins, 21 Losses 4 Draws
