Apparently the "CM" in CM Punk's name stands for Chick Magnet.

CM Punk and Colt Cabana took the stand today in their libel and slander trial against WWE Senior Ringside Physician Chris Amaan. While under oath, CM Punk confirmed that the "CM" in his name stands for "Chick Magnet." Punk was a member of a tag team called "The Chick Magnets" in his backyard wrestling days, and while it was believed that was what the initials stood for, he would never confirm it publicly.

Based on reports from others covering the case, the opposite seems more likely.

Most damaging stuff revealed so far involves WWE's doctor possibly violating medical rules and could be risking his license. Also the blunder of him only going after emotional damages instead of libel damages while admitting he hasn't been affected rep-wise or emotional wise from Punk's claims.

Worst thing from Punk's side so far was discrepancies in the size of the cyst and issues with how the Rumble match occurred.

Interesting. I haven't really kept up with this case.

Because defamation (libel and slander) requires a false statement of fact, this could mean, at least potentially, that nothing Punk said about the doctor or what the doctor did was false.

Or it could be that the doctor or his attorney(s) simply chose not file a defamation claim, for whatever reason. That's possible, but seems unlikely if Punk publicly lied about the doctor.

Jordan
06-03-2018, 10:39 AM
The lawsuit a goddamn was let of taxpayer money and should have never gotten to trial. WWE likely told Aman they would back him through the case financially and Punk is so stubborn he couldn’t walk away and leave the past behind him. Best case scenario out of this is Punk loses a lot of money and returns to pro wrestling as an Indy property or works for NJPW.

Not only do I remember that Mark Henry theme, I remember it was weirdly used in tv bumps and commercials (along with The Hardyz and both the Hardcore Holly themes), the shitty "beefcakes" meme it spawned, AND the awful "remix" they did to it because of some uncleared samples or some shit. Thankfully that one didn't last long since he got hurt... not saying it was good he got hurt, but it was a good way to trash that shit theme.

Bonus points on that Vito post also containing Chrisian's entrance. Too bad this was well after it was Shinsuke'd to prevent him from getting cheered for his awesome theme.

Pretty gobsmacked by the end of the AAA PPV.

1st,I was under the impression that it was supposed to be Dr. Wagner vs. Rey Mysterio for the title, but Jeff Jarrett is there for some reason. I guess he came back mid show and demanded a title shot? Who in their right mind gives Jeff freaking Jarrett a title shot on his first night back?

2nd, the ref is doing heelish things. Counting slow for Wagner and fast for Jarrett, whatever. Wagner clocks him.

Out runs Fake La Parka in a ref shirt, argues with Wagner, clocks him and fast counts Jarrett as the new champ.

Fake La Parka unmasks and it's Konnan. I guess Konnan is re-debuting.

Vampiro comes out, followed by Jarrett's stable. Konnan, Jarrett and the stable beat down Vampiro, Wagner, and Mysterio.

FENIX COMES OUT MAKING HIS RETURN TO AAA. Fenix hasn't worked in AAA for like a year because AAA is a shit promotion. Fenix cleans house because he's the shit and the overarching thread of this whole thing is that is gonna be Fenix vs. Jarrett for the title.

I dreamt that Jim Cornette, Jim Duggan, Kevin Nash and Sgt. Slaughter had decided to create a new podcast in which they all pretended it was 1996 and discussed the issues of the day. They all had to stay in their 1996 mindsets, and it would involve plenty of angry back-and-forth between Cornette and Nash over the Curtain Call incident, while Slaughter acted as a mediator and Duggan haphazardly tried to tow the WCW company line. As my dreams go, it was surprisingly detailed.

Stephanie McMahon was not at Raw this week because the company is WWE is campaigning for an Emmy Award nomination.

WWE has invited members of the media for a big event on Wednesday and names like Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Shawn Michaels, Roman Reigns, Ronda Rousey, and The Bella Twins are scheduled to be there.

There will be a red carpet event with private screenings of select WWE shows. The shows that will be on display include the Raw 25th anniversary special, the WWE Mixed Match Challenge that aired on Facebook Watch and the WWE 24: Empowered documentary that aired on the WWE Network.

Hollywood has looked down on wrestling but perceptions have changed in recent years and the signing of Rousey has helped WWE make some big business moves this year, including massive TV deals with NBCUniversal and Fox. Hardcore fans may not agree with WWE’s PG direction but it’s hard to argue that it hasn’t helped the company become more accepted in the media.

The event will take place at the Wolf Theatre at Saban Media Center Television Academy and it will be streamed live at 7 pm pacific/10 pm eastern at emmys.com. Only Television Academy National Active Members and their guests will be allowed to attend.

The "Empowered" 24 special was good but like Lock Jaw mentioned, they have other WWE 24 specials and documentaries that were better overall like the Bruno one for choices.

I'd assume they picked it solely to pat themselves on the back and boost the Women's Revolution narrative they keep pushing. Having it be nominated for an Emmy just adds more boasting and spin by the WWE even if they don't win in the end.

And from the "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" file:

They had the press conference to announce the main event of TripleMania (AAA's WM) that they've hinted as being a 4 way mask match with the only 2 people announced being AAA regulars Psycho Clown and El Hijo de Fantasma. At the press conference, they announced that the other 2 people are LA FUCKING PARK and Pentagod.

Hard for me to believe that one of those 4 guys is losing his mask. I'm 100% intrigued.

LA Park is scheduled to be in the main event of both TripleMania and CMLL's Aniversario show, which is the Mexican equivalent of main eventing Wrestlemania and Starrcade in the same year.

When the word "Rockstar" scrolled across the screen during Nakamura's entrance in order to inform the audience that he was a rock star, television as we know it changed forever.

I do enjoy how WWE can't let anything be organic. Shinsuke didn't become a "rockstar" or w/e the fuck they decided he was in Japan because he told everyone he was. It's incredible how even the slightest hint of subtlety is completely lost on such an overwhelmingly successful entity.

Supposedly Bruce Prichard recently pissed off the WWE to the point they delayed this week's episode of his Network podcast show for editing reasons.

This week is supposed to be about WWE's version of ECW and WWE didn't like some of the stuff mentioned in the show since it cast their handling of the brand in a bad light.

"Hey, what's up guys? No show today. WWE wanted to edit some stuff, we've got creative differences, it ain't airing," Thompson said. "I wanted you to hear it directly from us. It's not because we didn't tape the show, we did, we're just not happy with the final product. This is the first time this has happened and rather than just throw something up to have something up, it's going to air on Friday.

"We're not re-shooting it, Bruce and I are done, we're happy with it but we're not going to change the narrative. I don't want to white-wash everything that ECW was. So I'm fighting for it. We're going to get you the best possible product to you this Friday on the WWE Network, with a delay, and our most controversial 'Something Else to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard' ever. Tune in Friday."

83 weeks is literally Conrad going "The Observer/wrestler said this happened" and Bischoff going "I don't remember but that sounds like it could have happened/I don't remember but a lot of wrestlers make up stories to babyface themselves"

He's actually worse than Bruce that he doesn't even 100% commit to his lies. Just says he doesn't remember. Honestly, I respect Conrad for the marketing efforts of Something to Wrestle With. The show is what it is. Podcasting is actually what wrestling used to be...guys committing 100% to their characters and working the marks (WWE Reddit fans) and building a fan base. That's why all these old timers are doing so well with it.

I digress... my respect for Conrad is he was able to take someone as irrelevant as Bruce Prichard and rejuvenate his career into something better than when he was in the business. And honestly, it's all Conrad--whether he's a money mark or not (which he probably is lol). A lot of the marketing/advertising can come off as annoying, but the die hards fucking love it.

Bischoff is great at using the saying "i don't recall". He even denied the situation that wcw thought Nash and Hall were jumping back to wwe when Jr was talking about bringing them back and the fake diesel and razor appeared. Supposedly wcw paid nash and hall more so they would stay thinking this was legit, and weren't too happy when the 2 fakes appeared.

You would think he would recall this but apparently doesn't, near sure i've heard him flip flop saying it didn't happen in one interview and "i don't recall" in another.

There's one other interview out there where he says his first interaction with Bret was at an airport waiting to tell him the news that Owen had died, thats ignoring the fact he signed with wcw much earlier than that and he had been with them several months, if not close to a year before that.

Seems Jeff Hardy might be dealing with a similar health issue that Jason Jordan recently had.

Jeff Hardy is currently not listed on the card for the Money In The Bank pay-per-view and it looks like an injury could be the reason.

Hardy, who has had well-documented neck issues over the years, is said to have a pinched nerve. PWTorch reported that the pinched nerve has caused numbness in his fingers.

Hardy wrestled at the live events over the weekend and he wrestled in a dark match after 205 Live on Tuesday night. The match was kept short and he teamed with Daniel Bryan and faced Big Cass and The Miz.

Fans that have seen Hardy in recent weeks have remarked that he seems to be in pain during his matches. This sounds similar to what Jason Jordan was dealing with back in January. He tried to work through it but ended up getting surgery.

 at Reigns getting booed at WWE's event for the Television Academy.

Can The Big Dog ever get a break? Last night the WWE held it’s first ever For Your Consideration event for the Television Academy in Los Angeles. With hopes of getting Emmy nominations for the Raw 25th Anniversary special, the Mixed Match Challenge, and WWE 24: Empowered on the Women’s Revolution, WWE held a presentation in front of 600 TV Academy and television industry executives last night (Jun. 6).

Of course Roman Reigns was part of one of the panels WWE trotted out and of course he got booed?

A Conrad/Cornette podcast in the same "one subject" style of Conrad's other podcasts could be amazing. Though I wonder if their "no bullshit" personalities would cancel each other out. Conrad is at his best when he's calling out Prichard for being a WWE kiss ass or calling out Schiavonne for not remembering shit/not being entertaining enough. I don't know where he and Cornette would find something to clash on.

There are better WWE 24 specials, but that one is about women so it does have a slightly better chance. (But realistically no chance)

But the thing is this isn't a feminist-friendly company. They do business deals with Saudi Arabia, don't pay their women as much as the men in a company where they claim they are "equal" (I'm not saying that as performers they are, that's just company narrative) and you still get the sense the company keeps some around because they are hot. Their feuds are still based on hair-pulling and mean nicknames. High school drama, because girls love #HighSchoolDrama.

Conrad Thompson has done well for himself. I don't have any ill will towards him, but his podcasts just have this ring of "let's suck up under the guise of telling it like it is." I can't believe how successful Bruce's bullshit is. Tony is a funny guy, but there was so much "I don't remember," "WWF was always better -- I should have stayed there." I refuse to listen to Bischoff's. I like Bischoff as a performer, but as a person he is so full of shit. The company fell apart in such a public way that I don't think there is much left to say. Bischoff sold the company's soul to the devil in order to buy a few huge years with Hogan and the nWo, and then things turned ironic.

Russo can just fuck off forever, thanks. I get so infuriated when I hear people actually defend him like it's not a myth that has been completely busted. The worst is that you can't reason with people like that, because it's such an unreasonable position. But there are still people who credit Russo as the mastermind behind the WWF's success, and some even go as far as to credit him for 2000 as well, because he "planned ahead." I also get annoyed by the "he seems like a nice guy" narrative when he has tried to fuck over everybody he has worked with to get himself into position. Which would just be office politics if he didn't deny being that sort of person. He's also a misogynistic, homophobic piece of shit. Grrr, he angers me so fucking much! I seriously want to start a "Fuck Vince Russo" thread and just post in it every couple of weeks about what a piece of shit this guy is. The dude actually wrote a book that included phrases about how hard the business has been on his family, and it's still his fucking chosen profession as he sooks about how wrestling hurts his kids.

I've been listening to Cornette's podcasts more frequently recently. I don't disagree with Cornette on much politically, but I prefer it when he talks about wrestling, because that's why I listen. But fuck me if his promo on the right-wing wasn't fucking hilarious this week. The guy's magic on the mic. One of those comedy news shows should hire him to do a segment where he chimes in like those 1997 Raw ones but for politics.

Cornette occasionally focuses on one subject with his "deep dives." I like Brian's questions too. But I would like to see Cornette do a "go through the Observer" look at the WWF during the Attitude era or something like that. I'd like to hear more specifics on how Russo was full of shit, or how things were supposed to go. The WWE narrative is kind of that they got to 1998 and then they were great and everything was sunshine and roses, and there isn't really anyone to give an honest take on the creative process. JR is someone that could shine a lot of light too.

I'd actually like to hear a Cornette/Shiavone podcast, with Shiavone playing more of the apologist and Cornette slapping down the silly.

To be honest, I'd rather not see outside stars come anywhere near wrestling. Ronda Rousey has seemingly already lost everything that made her special. Conor McGregor would come in as a big deal and then probably be paired up with Hornswoggle within a few months to appeal to kids.

It's because he balances it out with reverence and praise. Though I'll concede that it's probably because he actually just DOES like Vince and the WWE. But compared to Meltzer he doesn't go SUPER hard in on the criticism I guess.

I mean, he definitely does balance it out but we all would in the same situation. WWE hasn't always been utter shit and Vince isn't an immoral piece of shit 100% of the time. He seems to call out the bad shit and praise the good. He's definitely not afraid to piss people off. The Pillman episode is a good example. He calls out Vince for how he handled the announcement of his death and the Melanie interview without hesitation and won't let Bruce brush it off.

Of course, the Network show he definitely seems to toe the line more. Which is why I forgot about that show after episode one.

McGregor would be a baffling decision because nobody in Japan would know who the fuck he was, he's not a pro wrestler so they would also be taking a huge gamble on him not being the shits.

Brock also would be dumb, especially since he totally fucked them over last time he was there and only cares about the money. They're definitely not going to bankroll having him come in just to steamroll all their top stars like Vince has.

It will only do so much. Unless they drastically change their product NJPW will always be a niche product. There's nothing wrong with trying to grow that niche, but they should stick to that. Every time they've made major decisions for marketing and profit reasons its bit them in the ass hard.

I had a dream where Vince McMahon vs Mideon was my fav match on sunday night heat and I was trying to convince you guys that it was the best match Heat ever had and "Rock vs Mankind" didn't count because it was "halftime heat".

My main reason for liking the match was because I liked the entrance set for SummerSlam 1999 and when someone in my dream said it was an awful match I responded with "It wasn't that bad".

I don't know why I'm watching Camp WWE from the beginning right now, but this is really rock bottom.

It's even better that Nak both didn't understand AND is making fun of her, with all the grand command of the Engrish language he has. Fucking glorious.

When you read the below quote, try to think in your head about which former WWE employee is saying this.

"I feel like this is my business plan; I want to conquer the independents. I want to dominate in the independents and be super over and have incredible 30-40 minute matches in the independents and show people that I am a great worker and a great performer. As soon as I can say that about myself then I am going to talk to them. They may talk to me before then, but I really want to establish myself in the independents before I even step foot in a WWE door again."

Have you finished guessing? Final answer?

You're wrong. Because it's:

Rosa Mendes

I don't know who that is, but it reminds me of Essa Rios.

Bring back Essa Rios!

Rosa Mendes is a WWE Diva that never won a match..... Or maybe she won one by DQ.

She was pretty hot for a second, though. When Zack Ryder was obsessed with her in ECW.

Man, it feels like that never actually even happened. Did it?

I thought this was pretty funny. I remember seeing a few people saying this was a "jump the shark" type moment for them because apparently WWE cameras were able to go inside of Zack Ryder's thoughts

Well guys, it's official. I've accepted a free seat in a private box for the July 23rd edition of Monday Night Raw in Cincinnati. Pray for me.

Private box seats will make however bad it is completely worth it.

I mean, the free part doesn't hurt either. But yeah, should be fun.

My friend thinks the Shield will reunite on that show. Ambrose HAS to be getting close, and Cincinnati is his hometown. They'd go nuts for him.
