If Cena is still on the show, then its later in the year when Smackdown starts to nose dive in quality. Also within a year or two later where all of WWE starts to get really terrible.
They managed to rebound very well from the Smackdown Six era but once Cena moves to RAW, WWE starts to really neglect Smackdown over time.
I just think that it's really cool that we can go back and watch it any time we want. The Network truly is the dopest shit a wrestling fan could ever hope for.

I don't think I've ever had a quicker turn around on anyone, like I have on The Usos. No one bored me more than the Usos when they were faces. They killed my hype for the show dead whenever they came out.
When they turned heel they showed soooooooooo much more personality and charisma, and their theme was 100 times better. And I feel like being able to show more character has motivated them in the ring, because almost all of their matches since turning have been LIT.
Hope they never turn them full face again, because that could mean the return of boring focus group tested face Usos. Keep them the tweeners they are now at most.

Yeup. Netflix being really successful with their streaming model gave the push needed for WWE and other wrestling companies to open up their libraries a lot more than before.
Before the Network, WWE had their 24/7 service but was way smaller in scope and content.

I've always been high on the Usos as a team. They had so many matches of the PPV this year. They also pretty much stole the show at Money in the Bank when it was in Boston against the Wyatt Family and now the new Bludgeon Brothers. Also that Triple Threat Ladder match with the New Day and the Lucha Dragons in TLC when it was in Boston.
Always were solid in the ring but now they are mean and showing more charisma.

I remember they had a double leg drop tag team move called "420". RVD told Vince it was just a reference to the amount of legs between the two of them (4) and their combined shoe size (20). Apparently Vince bought it.
Also, Michael Cole would have to explain what "420" meant every... single... match.

Rumor going around the net hints Reigns' upcoming Universal title reign is going to be a really long one. Supposedly Vince wants Reigns to have a longer title reign than Lesnar in order to break the record for the belt.
Only problem is the rumor is associated with the Observer but those who listened to recent Observer Radio shows mentioned Meltzer never actually said that was the plans.
Could still end up happening considering when Cena had his coronation WWE title reign, it lasted 280 days and matched the previous champion's reign. If WWE does the same with Reigns, his upcoming reign is going to last a lot longer.

Observer's Dave Meltzer teasing WWE is currently considering several major matchup ideas for Cena for next year's Mania.
Current rumor going around is Cena-Styles for the WWE title with Cena winning the Rumble but Meltzer thinks its more likely its going to involve someone not on the active roster instead. Basis for the Styles rumor involves betting sites currently have Cena as the favorite for the Rumble.
A match that would be bigger than a WWE title match against Styles would seem to indicate that Cena’s opponent will be a non-regular wrestler or a surprise wrestler. Meltzer says that the only names he can think of are The Undertaker, Batista, Goldberg or Hulk Hogan, with Hogan seeming the least likely out of those due to his age, back problems, and the other issues

Someone at RestERA's Wrestling thread managed to compile the weekly ratings/viewership for RAW this year and overall decline ended up being a little over 5%.
Only reason it wasn't worse was due to the surprise increases during the NFL season which WWE couldn't maintain after a while.
In regards to this year's Road to Mania, only 1 week did better than 2016's Road.

Not saying it's ethically right, but Mike Kanellis probably has some residual heat on account of the fact that he knocked up the star of their act. Granted if you're going to get heat, having sex with your hot wife is the best possible way to do it. But still.
As it is he's not likely to be seen much in 2018 either. Maria's not due til mid 2018, she will need time for baby bonding, then she'd have to drop whatever baby weight she's accumulated to get herself back on TV.
But yeah, Mike's useless as a character without Maria. He's basically her proxy to wrestle men.

I've said it before ever but the obvious thing will be to send him to NXT after rehab. At least there the shows are filmed in advance and at the same place so he would have more time with his wife and kid when born.
Then when the time is right you bring him back up to the main roster when Maria is ready and people wouldn't even remember him from before.

Apparently WWE pulled a contract deal from one of the talents from the Mae Young Classic. They had a deal in place with Jazzy Gabert and freaked out when they got the results of her medical test.
Maroon found that she had something wrong with her neck and scheduled an MRI, which revealed that she had three herniated discs in her neck. Gabert also said that the bones were "all over the place."
"Of course they sent the results to the WWE doctor," Gabert said. "And then the WWE doctor contacted me and they said to me, 'We're really sorry Jazz, but we cannot give you our clearance and you are disqualified and you cannot work for WWE.'"

It's been a while since I've seen it, but it always jars me when Roman Reigns makes his entrance. He's got all these different slogans and logos that pop up, and it looked like some kid made it. The aesthetic is all disjointed and it's just crammed in there. He's got like a "Roman Reigns" logo on the screen, then the "RR" off the side, then some lightning bolts from his fist thing, then he's probably got the actual fist, then he's got "BELIEVE THAT" written down the bottom. He's probably added something about being "The Big Dog" and a Shield thing. It's like "Pick a fucking aesthetic."

I was watching an old Mid South episode last night. The Bladerunners (Sting and The Warrior) were wrestling and for some reason while Warrior is beating on some jobber, the commentator, in a completely serious manner, says something along the lines of "He's got a lot of aggression. It could be a steroid effect."

I'm watching the Nitro from the day Schiavone spoiled the Mankind title win. Perversely entertaining.
The ironic thing about that moment was them spoiling RAW's main event didn't really effect Nitro's viewership in the end. It gave a huge boost to WWF's numbers but Nitro got all those viewers back for their own main event.
If Nitro does anything beside the Fingerpoke of Doom, its very likely WWF's pivotal moment happens a lot later. Instead it happened that night because people were sick of Hogan and the nWo hogging the spotlight again in WCW.

Emperor Smeat
12-31-2017, 01:06 AM
If I remember correctly from the Death of WCW book, only reason the Fingerpoke of Doom happened was due to some agreement WCW had with Hogan in order for him to drop the title to Goldberg.
WCW promised him both the title and getting his "win" back when he returned from a his break but since Goldberg wasn't the champion anymore, Hogan was only able to get the title back. Think Hogan might have also pushed for him to be the one to break Goldberg's streak but that wasn't possible either by the time he returned.

Remember that iconic moment when Flair hugs Vince and Vince does that wide-eyed, mouth open ear pull? Turns out that it was a cue for Bruce and Kevin Dunn to hit Stone Cold's music!
Vince had told Bruce originally that he was going to pull his ear as a cue to hit the music, but apparently it was never fast enough for Vince's liking (Bruce explains that it takes a little time to "hit the music" once you get the cue since you're giving direction to the truck, so it's a chain), so Vince decided to exaggerate the tug, which only made Bruce and Kevin lose it in the back and not hit the music any faster than Vince had intended.

Maria Kanellis posted a blog post about her recent photo leak.
I have never thought about not being me. I have never been afraid to show off my body. I have never been scared of being sexy. And I don't want my son or daughter to be afraid of their body. I want my children to be confident. In a world so full of hate and unknown, Mike and I do not want our children to feel like love is a foreign concept. I have been asked on numerous occasions about Playboy, my leaked photos, and about being sexy. My answers may surprise you and hopefully give you some insight into what it means to me to be able to be sexy and still be a great mother.
What will you tell your child about being in Playboy? I will tell them that mommy bought a house by capitalizing on a huge opportunity. I will tell them that mommy believes that the human body should be celebrated not shammed. I will tell them that Playboy is an iconic magazine and the decision to pose was something I discussed with my family and friends before making a well informed choice. I don't believe sex is the enemy I think ignorance is. If my children, are well informed about the meaning and value of a person's virtue, I think that is the best a parent can do.
Leaked Photos.... So, I guess I probably should make a statement about this at some point. Haha... I guess first you should know, every photo that I have seen leaked was something for my husband of over three years, who I have been with for 6 and a half. They were sent to or taken by Mike. So, you aren't seeing anything salacious or forbidden. You are seeing our personal photos. It doesn't bother me that I'm naked. I have been naked. Boobs, butt, etc... everyone has them. If my children asks about those photos, I will say mommy and daddy have a healthy relationship. We love each other. Daddy thinks Mommy is sexy. AND, there is nothing wrong with that. The problem is the intrusion of privacy. The sad, sad humans that can not make a happy, healthy life of their own. I would tell my child to feel sorry for the people that do not have enough love of their own and have to steal it from others. Mommy and daddy, pity the people that have enough time on their hands to fish through our photos but no time to make a life of their own. To those people, I say get some help, try online dating, and stop breaking the law.
I'm too sexy for small mindedness. Sex. Woah. How could you? NO, I can and I will never be afraid of it. Being sexy doesn't end for pregnant people, married people, curvy people, skinny people, any people... Sex is beautiful. It creates life and draws humans together. War, is ever present on TV, in movies, and on video games and no one blinks an eye but you see a little boob and OMG!! Mark 10:6-9 "But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.' 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." One flesh sounds fun. If God wanted me to wear clothes, I would have been born with them. I wasn't, so I'll continue being sexy and enjoying my body. The body that was created by this universe.
Let's talk about the things I am afraid of talking about with my child, war, sexual harassment, economic inequality, sexism, racism, homophobia, genocide, and the current political climate. There are much bigger problems in this world then, my sexuality. I have built my life around being a good person and being a good role model for my little sister when she was still little and now my nieces and nephew and soon for my child. In this country, we should focus less on the way people love and more on the way people hate. That is what I will teach my child. Hold hands not hate. Be the change you want to see in this world. Love Yourself. #PowerofLove

If people didn't walk around the street with a wallet there would be nothing to steal. Wouldn't be anything new considering WWE has messed with the crowd volume a lot in the past for RAW and at least a Mania or two for Reigns. Also got outed last year for using a fake crowd reaction shot for a Reigns loss recap video.

Is Buddy Murphy only employed at this point because he's engaged to Alexa? He'd done a whole lot of nothing in the year and a half since Blake and Murphy split up, but now he's been added to the cast of Total Divas seemingly out of necessity.
It's like he's being paid to continue having sex with Alexa Bliss. Fantastic work if you can get it.
Mr. Nerfect
01-03-2018, 08:20 PM
I think it's probably because he's Australian, looks good, is one of Triple H's lads, does a cool move or two, doesn't get paid much, and is something of a "name" for NXT live events. I mean, he's not really, but people have seen him on the TV.
That being said, I do kind of always half-expect the WWE to cut their losses with both him and Blake every wave of releases.

lol That pic reminded me of the time Roman Reigns was feuding with Cena and he said something like "Business has been booming with me. Attendance is great..." and Cena immediately motioned to an empty part of the arena and gave him an "lolwhat" look.

I only thought of it because on the main page they posted a Total Divas clip where Alexa and Murphy are eating with Nia and Nia is just giving them all sorts of shit about them not getting married yet despite being engaged for a while.
Murphy's probably clinging to her like grim death.

Yeah, fuck it. It's not like he's going out there and telling AJ Styles he's a terrible wrestler or ragging on The Rock for being a shit promo. He tends to go with the uncomfortable truth angle. I'm glad there's an untouchable guy around to say what he wants and not give a fuck.
Can you imagine if two guys were feuding and one guy, standing in the middle of a half-empty arena, is talking about ticket sales being higher than ever and then the other guy just nods like "Fair point..." Makes the whole company look awkwardly delusional. At least a guy like Cena can reel that vibe back a LITTLE.

Only problem with Cena's "shoot" style promos is the other guy involved rarely gets to respond the same way back. Same for the countless times Cena trashed a wrestler's gimmick but didn't get the same thrown back towards him.
The Miz being able to counter Cena's "shoots" with his own made their promo war last year really good overall.
Mr. Nerfect
01-03-2018, 09:33 PM
I wouldn't say it's the only problem. The Rock could get away with it, because who The Rock was really promoting was himself. They knew that he would be the draw. As a cocky heel, you wanted to see his smug ass get handed to him, and it built. Makes no sense for a babyface to do it, other than The Rock, because he was the reason people were tuning in to see him. But even then, his insult comedy really didn't bury his opponents. He was just like "I'm going to kick you ass, and I don't like your *insert physical characteristic here*"

Candice LeRae (Candice Dawson Gargano, 32) is on the radar. She hasn’t been signed yet but is going through the process which means unless it falls through she’ll be off the indie scene.

Maybe they can go through all the big sweaty men en route to that match. I'd be fine with War Machine vs. Harper & Rowan on the Mania Kickoff.

Trying to figure out mystery spots for the Women's Royal Rumble. Currently there have been 14 entrants announced and I'd think it's a safe assumption that Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, Mickie James, Alicia Fox, and Dana Brooke will bring it up to 19. So that leaves 11 spots to play with.
Meltzer's said that most of the mystery spots will probably be filled with NXT women, but I'm really not so sure. Recent history shows that when NXT names are used to fill out the Rumble it's because there are imminent plans to call them up.
Bo Dallas in 2013 and Sami Zayn in 2016 were both officially added to the main roster starting the next night (although plucky face Bo got sent back down after a failed feud with Barrett when they realized he truly wasn't ready). Rusev in 2014 and Tye Dillinger in 2017 were groomed for call ups which happened after Mania. So I think any NXT women who come up will be used on the main roster in the not too distant future.
The Iconic Duo spring to mind right away. They've been in NXT for quite a while and I'd have to think they're finally going to get their due soon after being passed over for the recent wave of women, many of whom just don't seem ready for the main roster. Plus they'd help eat up 2 spots for the Rumble.
Nikki Cross is the other one that feels likely to me. She can get an elimination or two and be given some nice shine. Sanity feel like strong candidates for a post-Mania call ups so Cross being in this would make for a nice preview.
If there is another NXT woman added, I really would love to see Sara Del Rey get one WWE match. It's a smarky crowd, they'll know who she is. It'd be a nice thank you for the work she's been putting in with the girls in NXT.
Nikki Bella returning is a possibility, she's been gone for ages. And you've got Ronda Rousey being heavily rumored as well.
Hopefully they can sprinkle in some unexpected ones though. I'd be thrilled to see Victoria get one last match.

Ronda will be in, so let's call that 20. Nikki Bella returning for it makes sense too. 21. I think there will be a couple of blasts from the past. Beth Phoenix seems like a good candidate, unless they simply get her to do commentary for it, but let's throw her in there for a Natalya interaction. 22. Molly Holly? She did a Table for 3 and I'm sure she's stayed in shape. 23. Victoria's name always comes up, and I'm surprised they've never done anything with her. 24. Lita? I'm sure she can still go to some extent. 25. Has Brie worked off the baby stuff yet? 25. Trish Stratus had her next child. 26. It wouldn't surprise me to see Jacqueline get another call to be in. 27. Now, from NXT:
I think Nikki Cross' fire spot where she comes in and starts scrapping with people is fun and inoffensive enough to earn her a spot, even if she doesn't come up. They'll give her some spotlight. 28. The other girl that I think would really add something with her unique stuff with Bianca Belair with the hair whips. 29. We've got one golden spot left.
I'd kind of like to see them give it to Sara Amato, as you said, but I'm also secretly hoping for Kharma. I think she needed a bit of help for a while there. But it sounds like she has made a physical and mental recovery, and the WWE likes a feel-good story like that.
We're at 30. It would be nice if Sarah Stock and Sara Amato could both get in. I also have this suspicion that they'll re-trial Melina too. So she could be in. And Kelly Kelly's name also comes up. It wouldn't surprise me if Brie and Jacqueline are taken out so that Kelly and Melina can get in. Blue Pants might also make a surprise appearance. I dunno. It's hard to call it all, and you really want to make those surprises count. But Melina and Kelly Kelly probably aren't high priority. I feel surprisingly safe in predicting Beth Phoenix, Ronda Rousey, Nikki Bella, Nikki Cross and Bianca Belair. I do think that the other spots are really just who they feel like making calls to on that particular day. I am going to guess Molly Holly, Victoria and Kharma, even if Kharma is jus a one-off. Do Lita and Trish do it? Hmm. I actually think they kind of get out the way a little bit. Sara Amato going in seems...cool. Jacqueline getting to just be the tough vet and another Hall of Famer in there would be a nice touch. That leaves one more spot. Fuck it -- Kelly Kelly. No, wait, Melina. For diversity's sake, because she's got the Hispanic heritage or whatever.
Final predictions: Beth Phoenix, Ronda Rousey, Nikki Bella, Nikki Cross, Bianca Belair, Molly Holly, Victoria, Kharma, Melina, Sara Amato and Jacqueline.

Match predictions:
* Natalya and Beth Phoenix re-form their "Divas of Destruction," although they probably don't use the name, and kick ass together for a while.
* Kharma gets to have a monster moment with Nia and Tamina, but is ultimately eliminated by Nia.
* Nikki Cross runs while but is dumped out fairly quickly, but gets a nice "we recognize you" pop.
* Bianca Belair' hair whips get so over.
* Nikki Bella gets booed.
* Molly does the Molly-Go-Round.
* Alexa Bliss throws out Asuka to sell that she's terrified of her.
* Absolution and The Riott Squad face-off and have a brawl.
* Someone screws Nikki Bella to treat her like the biggest star in the match, even though Philly will hate her.
* Sara Amato is #30 and no one knows what the music means until she appears on the stage.
Final four: Ronda Rousey, Sara Amato, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch. Can kind of actually see Becky being the runner-up. Probably Sasha. Could be Nia, but I think Sasha is going to keep the crowd more at the end and she looks so good when she is ultimately defeated.
