According to Fightful, all of the lawsuits against El Rey Network and Baba-G Productions regarding illegal contracts in Lucha Underground were settled recently.
King Cuerno, Ivelisse, Kobra Moon, and Joey Ryan were all officially released in return for dropping their lawsuits against Lucha Undeground. Texano's lawsuit was dropped prior to this settlement being made and isn't expected to be leaving from LU or AAA.
This is really good and probably really bad at the same time. I am really looking forward to Cuerno in WWE.

A lot of wrestling fans, as you know, the new thing is supporting women's evolution... There’s nothing sexier than a female wrestle because it’s so fun to have them step on your head and kick you in the gut. Now, if a white meat babyface wrestler treats you with respect and loves Jesus, he’s bad. But if he turns heel, kicks you in the teeth and stomps on you, it’s cool, it’s trendy, you go buy their merchandise, and it's fun.

Debatable. I had a friend who went to school with a kid named Goldberg around the time Bill was hitting big in WCW, and he thought it was the least intimidating name ever because of his association with said kid. I had no such association, and thought it worked after they dropped "Bill" from his... uh... billing.
On Walter specifically, it works a lot better is if it is pronounced correctly.

Rumor going around the net from a tabloid source hints that E! likely will cancel Total Bellas within the near future unless big changes are made to improve ratings.
Same source also hinted Nikki Bella's retirement announcement wasn't due to health reasons but because she's still upset her relationship with Cena ended and needs to go in a new direction for her show. Also upset that her celebrity status and spotlight took a huge hit after Cena left the show.
Did they go into detail about the breakup on the show? I never researched. Was it Cena who didn't want to get married?
Emperor Smeat
03-27-2019, 01:30 AM
Probably considering they had a whole season dedicated to it that ended up being terrible in ratings. I've never watched the show so don't know what was actually mentioned for reasons.
Going by the dirtsheets, seemed it all revolved around her being pissed Cena was still having cold feet on wanting to get married even after doing the Mania engagement announcement.
Oh! I listened to Cena on the Nerdist podcast and he seemed pretty confident at the time

Cain Velasquez signing with AAA is a pretty big deal. They recently got more of a ratings share in their slot than Raw, didn’t they? Could be big news for AEW too, because of that relationship. I could see them doing Cain vs. Daniels at All In 2 in Chicago, or something.

I'm not sure anyone carried more than HBK carrying Flair at WM 24. The moonsault on the table which Flair wasnt even on the table lol. Then the spot to the outside where ( he should have been caught ), Flair doesnt catch him at all ROFL. I'm not sure how Shawn Michaels walked away without help.
And to Michael's credit. He did everything he could possibly do to make that match a Flair moment and he pulled it off. HBK paid dues in this match. He paid them big time.

But surely no one is telling him it’s a good idea. It ages him tremendously. Unless he plans to dye it blond and play Steve Rogers in a Captain America series for Disney.
Ya i'm not sure you can carry as hard as HBK carried Flair at WM 24.

Seems they’re not doing the rumored Hardys/Usos tag title match at Mania as the Hardys just got put into the ATGMBR.
The Usos, The Bar, and Rusev/Nakamura were not put in it so that’s probably the SD tag title match.
No Revival, Black/Ricochet, or Hawkins/Ryder in it either so that might be the Raw tag scene.
Winning a title at WM could be the payoff to Hawkins’ losing streak, you know they’d drop them back the next night

I love Luke Harper the character, but the person behind it seems really intelligent and hard-working. The human side to him has real appeal when you strip away the aesthetics. That's a damn good promo.
Plugging Harper back into the main roster feels really uninspired at this point. I don't really want to see them just revert back to the Wyatt vibes. I don't want the Bludgeon Brothers back. I don't really want to see Bryan with him, as great as Harper and Bryan could be together. It's just too...now he's got the Wyatt Family.
But if they aired promos of this guy talking about his rehab, his age, his story, his wife, his kids, his injuries and what he thinks he can bring, then there might be this edge to him that makes me think he could be this wizened old guy trying for one big run.

Man, Harper in New Japan would be fucking ace.
He might want out -- but that reads to me more like he wants to stand out. Fuck, it's kind of heart-breaking hearing people at the gym ask if he's retired, haha.
He's been a darkhorse pick for me to sneak out the Andre Battle Royal at Mania. Not that that means anything. It might seem like an easy Braun or Owens victory, but I can see the SNL guys fucking over Braun and I can see Owens, frankly, just not caring about getting it and wanting to put someone else over. Him going ga-ga for Kofi makes me think he's eventually going to turn on him anyway, because they don't really have solid plans, I don't think.
Harper sneaking in and taking the thing just to say "He's back" would not shock me.
Fuck me, there was a window a few years ago where he was just fucking brilliant. I hope he still can be. He's surprisingly good as a babyface. I loved his match with Orton at Fastlane two years ago. The crowd didn't care at first, but you could tell they got into him playing the face.

I can see him randomly being put on Raw, just because they don't want to re-do The Wyatt Family/Bludgeon Brothers so they just exile him from SmackDown completely so they don't tempt themselves. Harper actually going after Bryan could be interesting, but who knows? We'll see.

Starting my 1997 Raw rewatch. I made it to June on my 98 Raw watch and I had to tap out because of how bad it was. I like 97 WWF more than 98 so this should be better. Starting off with Owen Hart /w/ Clarence Mason vs Mankind /w/ Paul Bearer. Bret vs Vader Main Event. Not a bad way to start the watch.

Tamara Sytch, known as Sunny during her WWE career, pleaded guilty to three separate counts of DUI in Carbon County Court in 2016. She was sentenced to five years maximum, but got immediate parole because she sought rehab.
This week she was extradited from New Jersey for violating parole in one of her DUI arrests.
It is the second time she has been jailed here for violating parole. She served eight months in Carbon County Correctional Facility last year.
Sytch reportedly violated her parole when she was arrested for DUI in New Jersey on Feb. 26.
According to TMZ.com, Sytch was arrested after a traffic stop where an officer found her with an open container of alcohol. She was also driving with a suspended license.
She was extradited to Carbon County for violating terms of her probation from the three DUIs she pleaded guilty to in 2016.
According to an order from Carbon County Adult Probation, Sytch missed a scheduled drug test on Feb. 11. The terms of Sytch’s probation from her DUI arrests included zero tolerance for missed urine screens.
Adult probation said Sytch does not have a stable residence and failed to report her whereabouts.
Sytch pleaded guilty to three separate DUI charges in Carbon County Court in 2016.
Officially the judge in the case sentenced her to a maximum of five years in jail. However, she received credit for 95 days in rehab and got immediate parole.
The terms of her sentence also included $2,100 in fines, a two-and-a-half year license suspension, 125 hours of community service, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and court fees.
The first arrest occurred May 30, 2015, on Route 443 in Mahoning Township.
Two days later, she was stopped by police for crossing the double line on Route 209, and officers found an open bottle of beer.
The third arrest occurred after a crash in Towamensing Township on June 20, 2015.

Apparently more foreign talent got pulled from next week's Mania Week indies events. This time it affected everyone from Dragon Gate that was coming over for WrestleCon's shows since none of their visas got approved.
Observer revealed what was the main issue that caused PAC's visa application to be rejected and likely the same for Dragon Gate's talent.
This brings up the question regarding Pac and AEW. From what we’ve been told, it’s become very difficult as far as cutting through the paperwork to get working visas for wrestlers because the government wants proof that the people being brought in are exceptional in talent and not taking a job away from an American. But those at AEW have said that for people who are established stars they don’t anticipate any issues, although those who are not established, the process will take longer.

<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
One such grail was known to have existed, but had long been believed lost by WWE. This was a 1986 bout in which Bret Hart drew an apparent miracle of a match out of Tom Magee, a strongman/bodybuilder/gymnast/karate black belt with leading man looks who was getting a tryout with the promotion. The legend behind this match was that Vince McMahon immediately proclaimed Magee his next champion after watching on the locker room monitor. Said legendary part of it is tied to just how little of a legend Magee turned out to be. The “Man of Iron” was otherwise a dud as a wrestler, which understandably made people want to see how the hell Bret got anything great out of him. Until Tuesday night, it was presumed that we’d never know for sure.
But towards the end of that evening’s SmackDown Live broadcast, during which I was also recording my podcast, a well-known wrestling fan and sometimes ringside photographer named Mary-Kate Anthony tagged me and a few others when she tweeted a photo ...
Fans who didn’t know Anthony were skeptical, but WWE producer T.J. “Tyson Kidd” Wilson—a Hart family member by marriage—quickly vouched for Mary-Kate in the replies. As it turns out, she’s had this tape for the last decade or so. It came her way when Bret, via mutual friend/Bret’s assistant Marcy Engelstein, sent his tape collection to Mary-Kate for conversion to DVD. Despite the fact that it came directly from Bret, there’s still some residual doubt that it’s actually the match. The veteran tape collector Roy Lucier discovered last year that Bret and Magee met again on May 16, 1989. Like the more famous October 7, 1986 match, it was an unaired “dark” match at a television taping. Unlike the first match, Magee was asked to take the lead and it went terribly. The VHS tape in question is labelled September 19, 1989, which is likely not a match date at all—there was no TV taping that day, and Magee looks to have left the company entirely a few weeks earlier. The label might be a mistake, or it might be the date that the VHS copy was made for Bret. Both are about equally likely given that WWE was not yet in the habit of recording every event for insurance purposes, so it’s probably not from a random show that took place on the date written on the label.
Also turns out Bret had another long lost gem in WWF that was only discovered in recent years.
Hell, it’s not even the only famous Bret match to have fallen through the cracks: His only singles match with Andre the Giant, which took place on a card in Italy and was shot by a local crew, is also not in the archives. As a result, the version WWE released on DVD is an obvious YouTube rip.
Rest of the article goes into detail of how huge of a bust Magee was as both a wrestler and potential mega star which makes what Bret did that night even more spectacular.

With New Japan needing something to help them spruce up Dallas and the Tokyo Dome shows next year, and with AEW about to launch and possibly get a fair bit of attention, do you think a New Japan/WWE relationship is completely out of the question.
WWE don’t need it, but with the recent strategy to boost ratings being “let’s call up the top four from NXT,” maybe there’s some appeal in working with #3 to bring in some fresh faces they have to protect (and god knows they need some protected stars). There are some WWE talent who could get a lot out of some New Japan appearances too (Cesaro and Harper come to mind). They could also do Jushin Liger vs. Rey Mysterio at some point.

Seems another controversy involving WWE is being put into the mainstream spotlight, albeit one that has been around for decades and came really close last year to being changed via the courts.
HBO and WWE may be at it again.
Fightful Select reported this afternoon that various sources confirmed Sunday that WWE's independent contractor status will be covered on HBO show "Last Week Tonight". The episode, which we were let to believe was set to air on Sunday Night, is a political show mixed with elements of satire and comedy aimed at exposing injustices with host John Oliver. The show spoke to several names in the industry.
This isn't the first time WWE has been brought up in the show. Last year, Oliver and Last Week Tonight covered various happenings in Saudi Arabia, and naturally, the WWE relationship was subsequently covered.
Fightful contributor David Bixenspan confirmed that the story was to be the focal point of the episode.
The show was a hot topic among several wrestlers that we spoke to who were backstage at WWE's live event in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Sunday. One told us that they didn't think it was a coincidence that the topic was being talked about one week away from WWE WrestleMania 35.

Probably should have spent a lot more time there if his skills ended up being that deceiving to Vince and the wrestling world in general.
Read elsewhere of the theory that WWE actually has the master copy in their library and its only been "lost" due to Vince's ego. Supposedly he doesn't want to be seen as a big fool if the match ever resurfaced and the notable bad blood he had with Bret years later. Same with the bad blood he had with Stu to a smaller degree.

Rey Mysterio at some point.
... because they have done soooo well with the likes of Kana, Nakamura, Gallows & Anderson, and KENTA. Even Devitt is debatable at the moment. Hell, the only person who got half a chance from there is AJ Styles, and his trip to Japan was pretty much to scrub TNA stink off of him.
In fact, it is specifically the treatment of Shinsuke Nakamura more than anyone else that is the biggest barometer of my judgment. The man should have been WWE Champion at least once at this point, especially when his stock was up. He already paid his dues in his career, and WWE has this "well, you need to start over with us" mentality for most people. At this point, they've just established to the fans that he isn't as good as even the hype they themselves gave him. He is in a random midcard tag team. This after being an OVER AS FUCK babyface and the surprisingly glorious "no shpeak Engrish" heel turn that the company apparently didn't know what to do with. Why multiply that by, say, a whole entire other roster?
The biggest hurdle I can see, if this were ever any kind of possible to maintain a sustained relationship like New Japan currently has with Ring of Honor, is that WWE would be pretty adverse to putting any of the New Japan talent over in any type of matchups people would want to see. What I mean is, there is no way we'd get a Cena vs Okada type of match. We wouldn't get GoD vs Usos. It would be a series of squash matches of lesser card members eating pins for the stars.
Also, Liger already had a WWE match with Tyler Breeze. You wouldn't remember it now, because WWE has done a fantastic job of burying Breeze over the years since then. It wasn't as great as Zayn vs Nakamura, but obviously Liger is legendary, and he gets called in to establish that he's such a big deal you need to bring in Liger... and you end up doing nothing with that? The hell, WWE?!

Well, in their defense (which I wouldn’t normally do), Gallows & Anderson suck, Finn Balor is a charisma vacuum and Nakamura was never going to get that sort of push in the last year of his contract. It’s weird they haven’t been doing more with him lately, and my latest theory is that I think they know he’s leaving. Otherwise, you’d think they’d dangle more of a carrot in front of him. I suspect he is going back to New Japan. Well, I guess AEW is possible, since the more I think about it, the more I realize has hasn’t been used for anything other than putting people over outside that first win he and Rusev got as a tag team.

No, no, no. Horrible idea all round. New Japan don't need it either and it would most likely damage their business and their expansion. The UK promotions who partnered with WWE, for example, have cooled off significantly since WWE have cherry picked all their top stars and are keeping them to themselves. What are the likes of British Strong Style even doing right now for example? Their buzz has completely fizzled out.
With HHH already having designs for NXT Japan you have to believe any partner promotion would just become a feeder, because that's what's happening in Europe. New Japan is way too big to sink to that level.
Anyone in WWE who would "get a lot out of New Japan" would be better off leaving WWE entirely because they are most likely spinning their wheels in the midcard.
Liger is also retiring in January and was actually booked to wrestle Rey last year before he got injured and then WWE snatched him away before they could reschedule.

Watched Bret vs. Piper (WM8) and Bret vs. Razor (Rumble 93) a few weeks back...basically all my favorite Bret matches. Still need to get to Bret vs. Bulldog, probably need other recommendations.
Considering how anal the WWE is about their presentation, things like these bother me.
Michael Cole said that Rey Mysterio is a 2-time WWE Champion and first won it when he defeated Randy Orton and his "now his good buddy" Kurt Angle.
Rey Mysterio is a 1-time WWE Champion (and a 2-time World Heavyweight Champion) and his reign barely lasted the length of the Monday Night RAW episode. Using the "World Heavyweight Championship" and "WWE Championship" interchangeably is stupid.

They’ve never given a shit about their title histories and have amalgamated them for years.

John Cena is a 16-time WWE Champion to them.

Have been watching a lot of Bret Hart matches this weekend.
Vs. Owen (WM 10, SummerSlam 94)
vs. Shawn (WM 12)
vs. Austin (WM 13)
Watched Bret vs. Piper (WM8) and Bret vs. Razor (Rumble 93) a few weeks back...basically all my favorite Bret matches. Still need to get to Bret vs. Bulldog, probably need other recommendations.
Watch Bret vs Steamboat from the Boston Garden in 1986 and Bret vs Dynamite from another house show around that time.

AAA has a press conference at MSG on Thursday. I wish they would announce a supercard with AEW at MSG for the end of the year but I don't have any indication of that being planned beyond the logic of it and their partnership.

Just got a Cameo from Big E #cameofameo https://www.cameo.com/v/5ca14891fe212701385928dc via @bookcameo
I really hate my typo on this title. I really want to rip the video and put it on youtube (so it's easy to share) but it doesn't seem fair to the creator/purchaser.
