According to Curt Hawkins, WWE's big payoff to his winless streak storyline was to just have him win a random match on Main Event and as a toss-away moment.
Only reason the winless streak still exists is due to Hawkins fighting to keep it intact since he realized that's the only reason why people watch his matches anymore in the WWE.
Would be quite amusing to see him break the streak by beating someone of significance on an episode of RAW.

I watched Judgement Day 2002 today even though I was planning to do that yesterday. I'll catch up eventually.
Anyways, my usual random (and mostly pointless) thoughts on what I've just watched:
• You can see the boom mic above Stacy's head.
https://i.postimg.cc/VvZDWyqk/image.png
• Seeing a very young Sign Guy made me wonder where he is these days. I don't think I've seen him or any of his signs in months.
https://i.postimg.cc/9QZYrwnM/image.png
• Here's a "Fun Fact", Batista's first word on WWE Television was "Sinner".
• I found it strangely coincidental that I was watching this PPV which featured a Hell in a Cell match and talks of an upcoming "big event in Australia" (Global Warning) at the same time that we had a Hell in a Cell PPV (and matches) and current hyping of Super Show-Down.
• I get what she was going for given the match stipulation but I just found this sign to be a bit strange.
https://i.postimg.cc/wxrX2kKM/image.png
Speaking of Edge though, Lawler saying that Edge's head is shaped like a dinosaur is probably one of the most random things I've heard Lalwer say but JR did give me a good chuckle when he replied with ""His Head is shaped like a dinosaur", where the hell did you get that?".
It's what we were all thinking.
• The Booker T and Goldust skit when Goldust appears in bed with Booker T and a woman he met is one, along with the "Slurpee & Wiener" skit, I remember so vividly and find funny every time I watch it.
The team of Booker T & Goldust were golden (pun not intended).
I did however notice that when Booker T turns out the light, you can still kinda make out movement on screen and can make out Goldust getting into bed. I remember watching that back in 2002 and you couldn't see anything. It was just a black screen.
I can only assume that it's got something to do with WWE's "master copy" or whatever you call it or how SD converts to HD or something.
I will also say that I've always loved how Lalwer can had to skits like that with his screams, just like he did when he saw Booker's bare ass as Booker ran out of the room.
• Seeing the Hell in a Cell after seeing the new red one last week makes me realise how much better the old cell was. For one thing, the old one looked more "legit" and more painful looking if you were to get smashed into it. The new red one looks more "friendly" so to speak. It kinda reminds me of a big toy, almost plastic looking.
Plus, the old cell is easier to see through. The new red one isn't really as clear, which I remember reading at the time was a problem people had with TNA's "TerrorDome/Steel Asylum".
After Triple H & Jericho's Hell in a Cell match, JR did a good job explaining why you don't see Hell in a Cell matches that often and all I could think was that all that means absolutely nothing now because we get at least two Hell in a Cell matches every year and even one year (2016) we got four.
• This was the debut of Undertaker's new theme after using "Rollin'". I didn't realise it at the time but he stopped using "Rollin'" after Hogan destroyed his motorcycle as he was no longer "Rollin'", so to speak.
A funny fan moment during the Main Event was when Hogan Irish-Whiped Undertaker into the steel steps and Taker crashed into them and it sent him flying over them and you clearly heard a fan yelling "Holy Shit! Did you see that!? Oh my God!".
• I'll end this post with a random image from the show that comes with no context:

I'd put money on the big payoff being anti-climatic or terrible since WWE has already been trying to just toss it away going by Hawkins statements. I'd put even more money down on whoever he beats just utterly squashes him the next week and WWE kills off all momentum from that shock victory.
WWE's been terrible in recent years on delivering good payoffs to big or interesting moments.

Seems Lesnar is going to continue juggling around between MMA and wrestling after Crown Jewel. Observer reported WWE recently signed a deal with Lesnar to lock him in for next year's Mania.
Would also confirm rumors and reports of UFC not signing him to a contract yet and only is locked down for the Daniel Cormier fight.

PMS gained a "love slave" named Meat (Shawn Stasiak), because he was "nothing more than a piece of meat", in May. As a part of the storyline, the three women used Meat for his body, forcing him to have sex with them. Also, they would force him to do their bidding and wear wrestling tights that resembled a pair of tight underwear. After Ryan Shamrock left the WWF, Terri and Jacqueline continued to assist Meat in his matches. Tension began to grow between the two women as Terri, in storyline, exhausted Meat with hours of sex before his matches and then berated her fatigued lover when he lacked the energy to win matches. Jacqueline left the stable after Terri forced Meat to kiss her feet on the August 1 episode of Sunday Night Heat.

I was thinking about his today and wondering if it’s just the volume of shows that is making WWE so difficult to write for. I have basically switched WWE out as a hobby and replaced it completely with MMA. While I enjoy the fights, recently, they have been able to generate great stories and massive intrigue around fights...
Mike Perry vs “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone
In this one, Cerrone is a long time vet of the UFC, slowly creeping up on the record for the most wins, although his best days are now behind him. He was matched up with young, talented Mike Perry who represents younger crowd, always on instagram and a world away from Cerrones personality. He chose to come and train at Cerrone’s gym and when he complained about it, suggesting it would be a conflict of interests, the gym held a meeting and decided to basically keep Perry and basically (summarizing) chose him over Cerrone. Since then, all sorts of details have come out and the fight has this fascinating backstory going into it. Each man is real, but they have their own characters and personalities and the story arch makes the fight extremely interesting.
Tyron Woodley vs Dana White
Dana White is the owner of the UFC and was hyping up young, loud Liverpudlian Darren Till to take the title off Eoodley. Leaks suggest that they see him as difficult to work with and too demanding a personality. Woodley had also been criticized by fans because of boring fights and focusing on other ventures in the past. Come fight time, he annihilates Till, winning over fans and a disgusted White leaves the event without doing media duty. He is in the process of setting up yet another young, controversial grappler, in Colby Covington, to try to take Woodley down.
Khabib vs Connor
Khabib Nurmagomedov is an undefeated Russian grappler, known for his wrestling and sambo (who does that remind you of?). His father made him wrestle bears as a youngster and he is as serious a personality as they come. Tensions between him and the increasingly volatile McGregor cane to a head after a UFC event when McGregor threw a gurney through a bus window to try to intimidate Khabib into getting off the bus, injuring other fighters in the process. The recent presser was done with no fans because of security issues and had a tense and overly excited McGregor having people question possible drug use and his mental state before the biggest fight of his career. It’s a cold, serious wrestler vs a volatile, badtempered striker. Two men who clearly hate each other and it’s probably going to be the biggest selling event in UFC
The tale of Francis Ngannou
Ngannou exploded onto the scene with a series of highlight reel finishes culminating in almost sending Alistair Overeem into orbit before getting a heavyweight title fight. The much hyped Ngannou lost amid rumors about his ego and lack of preparation for the fight. In his comeback fight, commentators watched in stunned silence as he barely through any offense for 3 rounds in one of the most bizarre fights in the history of the company. Afterwards he admitted that “the fear” had gotten him. Where does he go from here and can he overcome “the fear”?
A lot probably won’t read that but it got me thinking about how the intrigue and stories not only build up excitement for the fight, but also create new names and promote the fighters, creating constant new stars in the process. With every big card, we are seeing fighters being proactive and calling out other fighters in a competitive rankings system where every fight means something and has worth
Basically, UFC has..,
- Big Personalities
- Rivalries
- Intriguing Stories
- Found an easy way for all matches to have importance
It seems to me like what should be WWE’s biggest strength (control), has become their biggest weakness, as no one can be an individual and they exert too much control on stories, forcing fan opinion rather than just letting things happen
Ol Dirty Dastard

Probably not considering Suzuki was very deadly as a submission specialist in MMA.
I'd still give Lesnar a realistic chance though since most of Suzuki's losses came via TKO or decisions and Lesnar would have the power and likely speed advantage in that fight.

You're right, championships don't really mean anything these days, especially the Tag Team Championships so have Hawkins win that.
If a ten year old can become champion by doing absolutely nothing, then Curt Hawkins can become champion by getting his ass handed to him and surprising us all with a quick pinfall victory.
Have his partner do most of the work but the pinfall would be Hawkins', just so we can get "that moment".

If a ten year old can become champion by doing absolutely nothing, then Curt Hawkins can become champion by getting his ass handed to him and surprising us all with a quick pinfall victory.
Have his partner do most of the work but the pinfall would be Hawkins', just so we can get "that moment".
Funny thing is there were people calling for Hawkins to be Nicholas’ partner, enough so that they felt the need to run a backstage segment with Braun just laughing in Hawkins’ face and throwing him through a wall to nip any idea of it in the bud.
Reminded me of the “who is Vince’s son?” angle. WWE put up a poll with everyone on the roster and loads of people hijacked it and voted for Stevie Richards. So they had Coach bring Stevie to Vince and say “here’s who people think is your son” and Vince just flat out laughed in his face.
In both cases it was like WWE blatantly telling you “we hear you, but we don’t care”.

In fairness, while you have to be in tune with and know how to read crowd reactions, you don't necessarily want to give the fans exactly what they want. Especially the neckbeards of today who are honestly the dumbest fucking idiots around, and basing decisions around what they want will actually hurt your business.

Would Brock Lesnar have beat Minoro Suzuki in a 'MMA Battle' if both were in their primes??
Yes, size alone.
Nobody is asking for Hawkins to go over Roman for the Universal Championship - although I’m sure there are some that wouldn’t against the idea. But WWE aren’t even featuring Hawkins. It’d be a harmless 10 minute segment once a week on Raw.

I just gotta say. I gotta vent this out. We've all gone through this I'm certain. I am in my S.A.D season with WWE/wrestling right now. That's SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER. It's always the worst season for WWE, but across the board I'm just so disinterested in wrestling. I dunno what happened, I was so into it then after Baron Corbin and Roman main evented RAW I was just line "nah I'm good". I will certainly tune in to see HBK next week and will certainly watch Super Showdown and Crown Jewel but I don't anticipate to watch anything else right now. I'm going to MLW Thursday and I'm sure I will have fun but they card seems so "meh" to me. I'm also going to Bound For Glory but I'm not feeling as "pumped up" as I was after the last PPV they had. ANYWAY I don't thin I'm the only one in a SAD season with WWE. The RAW thread was like 4 pages after the show, that is SAD. I've been replacing my wrestling watching with movies btw. And generally, enjoying it much more.

Even Barry Horowitz got a push after a while. It's nice way to reward your current fanbase who is very aware of the guy. You just have to give him a bit of a storyline and nothing more as a reward for his hard work. And hey, it could even gain actual traction and make for good t.v. which is better than what we get most of the time anyway.

I get it. I completely forgot to even check the results of HIAC until yesterday. What does any of it matter? Apparently Curt Hawkins and R-Truth are highlights in the company. If you dance around like a jack-ass or just lose constantly, there's your compelling story arc.
I'm genuinely excited for Shawn Michaels to come back, because he's going to blow everybody they have out of the water. And The Rock coming back, if it happens, will be huge. But they don't really have people under that can really hold the fort. They're losing it to the comedy constantly. Wrestling is a big ironic joke without any sincere drama. And everything gets so fatiguing when it used to energize you and pump you full of a desire to watch and see what happens next week. Now it literally doesn't matter.
New Japan seems better, but it's still got a bit of that fatigue factor. It's trendy right now, but I'll wonder if it holds. I hope it does.

The recent push to get MMA fighters (and wrestlers) classified as employees instead of independent contractors took a huge blow.
National Labor Relations Board recently sided with UFC in a lawsuit over the issue and now gives WWE the legal approval for their stance on wrestlers.
Before WWE was very wary of going to court since they did not want to risk having their stance overturned and caved in every time a wrestler threatened a lawsuit over the issue. Like when they tried to hit Del Rio with a 1-year no compete clause, he threatened to sue over it and their independent contractor stance.
In a story that also has repercussions when it comes to pro wrestling, the National Labor Relations Board dismissed the claims by Leslie Smith that UFC fighters should be reclassified as employees rather than independent contractors.

Current rumor going around the net hints at HBK's second match back from retirement is occurring at Survivor Series with Undertaker as his opponent. If it doesn't happen, WWE is rumored to have Royal Rumble 2019 as the backup plan.
Adding some fuel to the rumor is the source being very credible recently when it came to rumors and breaking news early.
There is talk of doing a huge singles match with Shawn at the Survivor Series pay-per-view in mid-November, according to the @WrestleVotes Twitter account, which has broken several scoops in the last year or so. Word is that Shawn vs. Taker in a singles match is being planned for the big event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 18. Taker was announced this week for an autograph signing the night before Survivor Series outside of Los Angeles. The report adds that some in the company want the match to take place at the 2019 Royal Rumble pay-per-view from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

Just replace them with Cena and a few others who managed to be big stars since the Attitude Era ended.
Either way, WWE is pretty much destined to have another New Gen era happen and when it does, going to be a lot worse for them since there won't be a "WCW" around to push them to get better. I'd be surprised if the Indies are not in another dark period by then like they were after WCW and ECW folded or when UFC exploded in popularity.

At a NXT show earlier this year where he was the ref, the crowd serenaded HBK with a chant of "one more match" and he expressed gratitude while also assuring the crowd that "he's much too old for this shit".
I honestly doubt he wants to wrestle again, but he's still under contract to the company and Vince probably is going to pay him a shitload to do it.

I often feel that social media makes it so much easier for fans to get noticed.
For example, I'm sure there were loads of kids just like Izzy back when we were all kids but nothing came of it because nobody really knew of their existence. The most exposure you would probably get would be a section in your local paper for being a "Super Fan" and that would be it. You would cut it out and keep it whilst everyone else would read it, move on with their lives and then forget about it.
Whereas now, thanks to social media, Izzy is known by so many wrestling fans and also wrestlers. I can't imagine Izzy being where she is now if it wasn't for social media.
It's really helped her out. Big time.

Not really gonna get noticed in a huge crowd at a handful of shows. Moreso than social media even, the fact that WWE had a "minor league" show that never travelled so she could ALWAYS be there had a lot to do with her getting noticed.

I sometimes wonder what WWE fans who became fans within the last five years think of WWE, as they have nothing to compare it too, no knowledge of the history and are coming in with fresh eyes.
They probably think the current product is a blast.
I used to show Raw with sound at a bar I was working at. Started doing it like two years ago. I've since converted five of my close friends into superfandom. They still realize that a lot of the stuff that we see is garbage, but they recognize the good stuff, and they have fun going back on the Network and looking at old stuff. For us though, it's really all about hanging out together and having fun with it, though. We've already got our Starrcade tickets.

It's a smokescreen so he appears humble and expectations are low. Like when he came out in the jeans at SummerSlam and the brown pants and bob at Survivor Series.

The current product is objectively bad TV. At least back in the Attitude era, it felt like something...else. It was live entertainment. This is like high school theatre.

I don't know, I think if Michaels wanted to keep wrestling after WM26, he would've had the pull to avoid a retirement stip in the first place or they'd have simply welched on it. I know a lot of people thought the latter would happen and that he'd have been back at WM27.
But money talks. I half expect Austin to come back and work a match for the Saudis at this point.

Sat in front row of NXT at every taping for months dressed as Bayley, Sasha Banks made her cry, ditched that loser Bayley gear and started dressing up as Alexa Bliss because main roster Bayley is a cuck, to cash in on her role as "featured audience member" her parents got her trained by a convicted paedophile, recently had her debut match (and received a very unsafe chokeslam) against a grown man who's biggest claim to fame prior was having whipped cream eaten out of his butthole by another dude in what I can only assume was some kind of "eat my ass" match.

He's still a big motherfucker, and if I got up to his weight now, people would be talking about how ridiculously fat I've gotten, but Mark gets down to where he's at, and he likely has people thinking that something is wrong with him in the health department from the drastic drop.

I'm glad Del Rio made those tweets, because it further decreases his chances of getting re-signed. The guy has talent there, in the ring, but sometime in 2011 he became one of the most boring pushed wrestlers in WWE. I'd put him slightly behind Sheamus in that regard. His return to WWE was absolutely brutal. The feud with Kalisto and The League of Nations stuff? *shudder*

It's Sunday, so yeah....
Raw:
• I totally didn't notice the date of the episode of Raw I was watching so when Raw started with the remembrance video for The British Bulldog, I was surprised by it but it also transported me way back to that date as I remember that video package so so vividly.
https://i.postimg.cc/mZ1w7dBQ/image.png
• This week on Raw, we saw Tommy Dreamer go to get his hair cut and then eat his hair, other people's hair and various hair based products.
• Raven randomly showed up to do some commentating and he just kept ripping into Lawler about his wife (The Kat) leaving him. It was great and I actually laughed as I was just caught so off-guard by it.
Lawler: What's up Raven!
Raven: Yeah, King listen, don't even greet me because you know I'm sick of coming out here every week, you and your lecherous ways, you never talk about wrestling, you never talk about what's going on in the ring, do you even know anything about wrestling any longer?
Obviously you don't know anything about women either because your wife wouldn't have left you then.
He then mentioned Lawler's wife leaving him again and he just wouldn't let it go.
• During the night, we kept seeing Austin in a bar that Eddie Guerrero was also in but I think some of it may have been edited out as there were times where references were made to moments that we never even saw.
The references were all about the songs that Guerrero and Austin were singing, so I can only guess that the part with them singing was cut out due to lyrical copyright or something like that.
I'm sure I do remember watching Austin sing at a bar though.
SmackDown:
• Triple H vs Lance Storm was a match I wasn't expecting to see. Especially kicking off SmackDown.
Watching the match, I couldn't help but think of how a match like that would have played out if it happened today.
During the match, Cole & Tazz were doing a good job of hyping Lance Storm up and making him sound good. Cole even said that if anyone could beat Triple H, it's Lance Storm. Storm got a lot of offence during the match and was actually in control for most of it. He even managed to draw blood from Triple H (even though it was an existing wound from Triple H's Hell in a Cell match) and he also managed to hit Triple H with two signature moves and his finisher. He Superkicked Triple H, applied a Single Leg Boston Crab on him and then Superkicked him again, all in succession.
These days, if someone of Triple H's standing on the roster at that time was up against someone of Lance Storm's standing, the announce team (especially Cole) would ridicule and just rip the piss out of the wrestler in Storm's position or they would just talk about something or someone that is completely irrelevant to what is going on in the ring, and as for the match, it would just be a squash match in under a minute with the wrestler in Storm's position getting absolutely no offence and just eating punches, kicks and one or two finishing moves from the wrestler in Triple H's position.
I actually enjoyed the match though, even though it was only six minutes long.
• "TriHple"
https://i.postimg.cc/7YMSNdcT/image.png
• They got there eventually.
https://i.postimg.cc/63v9hsHs/ezgif-4-8ea5151d01.gif
It just doesn't make sense to have a sign (especially one that requires multiple people) that references the same wrestler on both sides.
(The other side says "BALDY!!!" for anyone trying to decipher it)
• This was the debut of Reverend D-Von's new theme with the gospel singer.
This was also the first time that Batista was referred to as an animal (but it was a passing reference).
• Chavo Guerrero doing a really bad exaggerated Mexican accent just sounds weird.
• Hogan came out to give his retirement speech and his music was dubbed but after he had finished, his actual Jimi Hendrix theme played but strangely enough, after he fought off The Undertaker, his dubbed theme played again to close the show.
I can only assume that the guys in charge of dubbing themes for the WWE Network either forgot to dub Hogan's theme after his speech or just dubbed his theme during his entrance and skipped the video to the end of the show and dubbed his theme again, just assuming that his theme wouldn't play again during those two points.
• I'll end this post the way I always seem to end these posts, with a sign:

Taker nails it!
https://www.skysports.com/wwe/news/14203/11514224/wwe-legend-undertaker-its-all-about-emotional-connections-not-big-moves
"Wrestling and sports entertainment is not about the moves, it really isn't," said Undertaker. "It's about being able to evoke emotion in one facet or another. You either have to make people love you or you have to make them hate you, it doesn't really matter either way. If you can't bring that emotion out of your audience then you're not going to have them for long."
Undertaker added on how many matches in this era of wrestling cause fans to focus more on the moves than putting the wrestlers over. "What happens with these young guys is they're so athletic and so gifted, they'll do some crazy double backflip off the top rope and land on somebody on the floor and then that's what the audience takes away from it, that this guy does crazy stuff," said Undertaker. "But you can only see that so many times before you need something new, and then the person has to up that. They have to keep upping the ante and by doing that you increase your potential for injuries."
Undertaker highlighted characters such as The Rock, Ric Flair, and John Cena being people who had the ability of making people love them or hate them. Although wrestling moves should be used to further tell the story, it ultimately "boils down to the character and being able to bring either love or hate out of your crowd."

Sort of want Cody to win the US belt only for the possibility of having a 2-belt champ playing different roles.
Him being a face as NWA champ and a heel as IWGP US champ.
Wonder if something like that has ever happened before.
He's also a ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champion, so he's a triple champion at the moment.
