TNA is worse than WWE in everyway.

Last time I watched they actually had storylines from the top of the card to the bottom. To the point where they could actually fill a PPV with matches that had some story behind them. Which is something WWE hasn't been able to do in years. Even with twice as much television available to them.

Wait, isn't a #1 contender contract for the X Division title in one of the cases? So why is the X Division champion in the match?

I re-watched the Brock Lesnar versus John Cena match from Extreme Rules 2012. It was so unique and different. It felt like Brock Lesnar was genuinely beating up John Cena in the opening part of the match. It is one of my favorite matches of all time (top 20).

Because he decided to, and apparently you can just enter yourself into a high stakes match last minute.

That match was fucking incredible. They got so much sympathy on Cena that the crowd comepletely turned and started popping for him when he made his comeback. That moment when he hits Lesnar with the chain and "Hulks up" while the crowd is going crazy was awesome.

For some reason, this made me think of some spoof booking thing years back where RVD was all that was left of the entirity of (the real) ECW roster, booking team, stage & sound crew, and booked himself in a title unification match where he hit a 5 Star Frog Splash on himself to win (and if I remember right, he killed himself in the process, and that's how ECW folded).

With that said, if the X Division champ is the #1 contender, I'm pretty sure TNA would try to make the person have a match with themselves.

God damn it, is there anything that man can't do? I can't remember who he was wrestling (I think it may have been Kofi Kingston), but they back body dropped Cesaro out of his Neutralizer and he flipped over and landed on his feet.

I really think the guy could make an amazing babyface. He's got a personality, it just doesn't really belong in serious heel characters. He's not great on the mic, but all he needs is an awkward line or two and he could charm his way into the hearts of millions.

Jack Swagger vs. Antonio Cesaro doesn't seem like something they would include at WrestleMania XXX, but I think they could go for Cesaro's biggest swing ever and try and create a moment. Cesaro swinging around Colter for a long time and then celebrating with Hulk Hogan as Real American plays could be a great moment too. Hogan probably can't wrestle, but he could endorse Cesaro as a true American hero and the strongest man in the world, brotha!

Watching TNA Impact tonight. Return of one of TNA's more stupid ideas, the "feast or fired" briefcase fiasco.

Curry Man seems to be back, though. Or at least he is going to be back for the match. He will probably be fired again.

This is easily one of the stupidest things in wrestling. I don't mind the idea of there being three title shots on the line during a match. That's kind of interesting. But one of the winners, a superior athlete who defeats some of the other guys in the match and wins as much as anyone else in it wins, getting fired? Why would you fire a fucking winner?

Mr. Nerfect
12-13-2013, 01:38 AM
If I were AJ Styles (and I'm definitely not...seriously), then I would accept the pay-cut from WWE and see it as a challenge to earn more money and prove my worth to the wrestling world again. I strictly say that as a fan, though. His body hurts and he has a family to support, so there's that -- but Styles has got so much skill and a weirdly marketable vibe that I believe he could move merchandise and be a fairly decent babyface for the company.

Mr. Nerfect
12-13-2013, 01:47 AM
How's this for an idea:

The Real Americans tease a face turn heading into WrestleMania, where Swagger and Cesaro end up fighting The Shield a few times. Tensions between The Shield increase and it leads to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns leaving Dean Ambrose to fend for himself, and Antonio Cesaro wins the US Championship. The next show, Zeb Colter reveals that when someone is a Real American, he controls their championships and all that, so he announces that Jack Swagger is going to go forward as the serving United States Champion. This doesn't sit well with Cesaro, which leads to the split between Swagger/Colter and Cesaro.

At WrestleMania, Cesaro defeats Swagger and proves that he deserves to be the true United States Heavyweight Champion of the world, and gets the backing of Hulk Hogan, becoming a mid-card babyface player on the rise.

Do you think the WWE could use the change of logo to change up quite a few things aesthetically. For example, maybe they could create new logos for RAW, SmackDown and Main Event and make them feel a bit different? Some of the title designs could also be changed. A new United States Championship would be refreshing, and if one of my dreams comes true and Kharma returns and beats AJ Lee for the Divas Championship, then she could toss it down and restore the Women's Championship, complete with new design and new logo.

The Tag Team Titles are quite new, but they could use a re-design and a new logo. The United States Championship has been in use since as early as 2003, so freshening it up may not be the worst idea on the planet. The IC Title is a classic, but changing it up ever so slightly (perhaps keeping the white strap idea with a new plate) may not be terrible.

Basically, all new belt designs for the championships in the current landscape may not be a horrible idea.

Meanwhile "The Prodigy" Michael Bennett's whole storyline with "Mr. Wrestling" "Wrestling's worst Nightmare" Kevin Steen for the last 3 or 4 months has been about how ruthless Bennett is that his piledriver is so devastating that it forced "The Buzzsaw" BJ Whitmer into retirement. So the mystery partner at ROH Final Battle replacing "The American Wolf" Davey Richards who got fired for saying the ROH World title has been devalued over the years and has lost it's meaning to team with "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards in his farewell match against "Mr. ROH," "The Messiah Of The Backbreaker" Roderick Strong and "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal was said to be right on par with "The American Wolf" Davey Richards. After much speculation the person that teamed with "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards last night was none other than "The Buzzsaw" BJ Whitmer! You may recall that earlier this year "The Buzzsaw" BJ Whitmer was injured at the hands of "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett's piledriver on the apron and was forced to retire due to the injuries. He said no way, this is my last match on my own terms. Needless to say, everybody was disappointed.

After the match "The Buzzsaw" BJ Whitmer was hugging "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards goodbye but instead turned it into an Exploder Suplex and turned heel along with "The Zombie Princess" Jimmy Jacobs and "Mr. ROH" "The Messiah of the Backbreaker" Roderick Strong and he will now be wrestling regularly.

Anyway, for those wondering, "Mr. Wrestling" "Wrestling's Worst Nightmare" Kevin Steen defeated "The Prodigy" Michael Bennett last night in their stretcher match by Ref Stoppage because "Mr. Wrestling" "Wrestling's Worst Nightmare" Kevin Steen destroyed the stretcher during the match.

A DESTROYED STRETECHER? I GOTTA SEE THIS FUCKING SHIT!!

I was just reading about Time's "Person of the Year" and apparently in 1998, Time held their first ever online poll to see who would be named "Person of the Year" and Mick Foley received over 50% of the votes.

Time then removed Foley from the poll and in the end, they ignored the poll altogether and chose Bill Clinton and Ken Starr.

The same thing happened again in 2006, when Hugo Chávez won the poll with 35% of the votes, but Time ignored it again and decided to award the title of "Person of the Year" to "You".

Recent stuff from the sheets and actual news sources:

The reason RAW announcers JBL, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler were taking "selfies" during last night's show is because Vince McMahon is not a fan of President Barack Obama. The "selfies" were done as a rib to Obama after he was seen taking a photo with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela's funeral last week in South Africa.

WWE released Knuckles Madsen (real name Kevin Nikels) from his NXT developmental contract today, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

Madsen had been under contract since late 2012. He is originally from the Memphis area and had worked for OVW and Traditional Championship Wrestling before signing with WWE.

http://i.imgur.com/ZHmZd6m.gif
Results from that superkick (and maybe from AJ's Shinning wizard as well)
http://i.imgur.com/HDLYvHF.png

To make its show more attractive, WWE is considering a live version of its two-hour “SmackDown,” which currently is taped on Tuesday before its Friday airing. To do that, costs to produce the series would increase, due to scheduling, and the show would likely need to move to a new night. But WWE would be willing to make the switch in return for a better fee for the series.

Digital next-day rights to shows would also become part of any new licensing deal with a TV network, costing Hulu Plus the programming it currently airs. In the past, TV Everywhere wasn’t a hot topic for networks when WWE inked its current network deals.
Speculation is the WWE won't come close to getting a NASCAR-like deal for their upcoming new tv deals nor will NBC be willing to let RAW leave the USA Network.

Regarding Shawn Michaels coming out of retirement for one more match, it's said the ball is in his court. WWE wants him to return for a singles match at WrestleMania XXX.

There is no talk of doing HBK vs. CM Punk and no talk of a potential tag match with HBK and Triple H vs. Punk and Daniel Bryan. If Shawn agrees to come out of retirement, WWE wants it to be for only one match and that match would be against Bryan. The segment with HBK and Punk on Monday's RAW was done so they could save the Punk-HHH confrontation.

Whether or not Shawn decides to return to the ring, expect to see a lot more of him on WWE TV going into WrestleMania XXX.

Recent stuff from the sheets:

Richie Steamboat was quietly released sometime ago. We only just heard about it in the last few week based on comments Chris Hero made in an interview.

Judas Devlin still remains under WWE contract but is out of action with a bad injury of a spinal nature. The belief among those I've spoken to is that his in-ring career could be over.

WWE has released NXT developmental talent Knuckles Madsen from his contract. Madsen had been under contract with the company dating back to 2012. He is originally from the Memphis area and had worked for OVW and Traditional Championship Wrestling prior to signing with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Regarding how WWE booked CM Punk to win over The Shield at TLC, it's said he had to win with both John Cena and Daniel Bryan already booked to lose. Plus, it created more drama for the eventual breakup of The Shield. At RAW, they had Roman Reigns get the win over Punk with the idea Reigns is eventually going to be the "real golden boy" since he has the look and sports background WWE officials like, as opposed to Punk and Bryan who will never 100% get past the size and look issues. They also felt Punk was protected from the loss by having the segment with Shawn Michaels, which people would remember more than the fact he was pinned

Reportedly, there are already plans to invest in Roman Reigns in the next edition of the Royal Rumble . The investment would be similar to what was done with Kane and Kevin Nash, where he accumulates eliminations.

Rumors are going around that WWE is currently thinking of names for the Royal Rumble in 2014 that are not on the current roster, which will mean some returning stars and some premieres talents of NXT.

There is talk now that Erick Rowan and Luke Harper may be tag team champions even before the Royal Rumble. At one point there were plans for it to happen in time for WrestleMania XXX, but it seems that plans were advanced.

At the moment, plans for CM Punk at WrestleMania consist of a fight with Triple H.

From the front page:

On Monday, WWE had Roman Reigns get the pin on Punk with the idea that Reigns will eventually be the real “golden boy” of the company, due to his look and sports background that WWE prefers. This is unlike Punk and Bryan, both of whom will never be able to get past the size and look issues WWE has according to the report.

While I agree that Roman Reigns will be a big deal, I started laughing when I read that Punk will never get past the size and look issue.... I'm pretty sure they let him hold the strap for a year

Top 3 things from this

1) Matt becoming a better bowler by adopting the "Twinkle-Toes Flinstone" style.

2) At one point, Team Nerdist team was playing with the Voltron yellow lion, and AJ was jealously watching them do so.

3) Johnny Curtis ass slap of luck... all that was missing was a couple of people yelling "STUNT COCK!"

Also, I would love a .gif of Kofi screaming "NACHOOOOOS!!!"

Chavo Guerrero fired for winning a match

I wonder what is next for Chavo? I could see the WWE giving him another crack. I doubt he'll win a World Title or anything like that, but I could see him in a tag team or as a henchman for The Authority. Maybe he could be a trainer in NXT and occasionally work down there, ala William Regal.

It's no secret I have a fan-man-crush on Dean Ambrose. Time to share.

Here's Ambrose responding to what I assume was the six-man tag team loss to Christian & The Usos around Money in the Bank time:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wqFQLB370pk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here's some from his FCW rivalry with William Regal:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ChUDiAMYXgI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BYjW4ustT3w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/FLcneAyWCsg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here's a very Loose Cannon-esque one:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/zNGOY-jeYwI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I want The Shield to stay together forever, but if they do split, I am very much looking forward to the magic Dean Ambrose will work on the mic. I think he'll be the friction that makes the feud really interesting and kicks it up before the pay-off.

That they don't let face Christian talk is one of the weirdest things in professional wrestling. I think Captain Charisma could get so much momentum if he were allowed to. We might actually get more insight into his motivations and thought-processes. People might actually connect to him as a character.

Since we haven't really seen Christian since The Shield took him out, it would make sense for him to go right back after them -- perhaps specifically Dean Ambrose and his United States Title. That would be a tremendous WrestleMania opener. Yet I don't really want to see it, just because I know that Christian probably wouldn't cut promos and he'd just show "fighting spirit."

Ambrose calling Christian old and deluded, bringing up his failures and how he was never as good as Edge would be great fuel. Ambrose could talk about how The Shield could take him out any time they wanted, but he doesn't even think Christian is worth that. He is letting Christian get into the ring with him healthy so he can use him as a stepping stone and go 2-0 at WrestleMania. Christian can retort with his time in this business and the legends he's shared a ring and locker-room with. He can say that Ambrose is very good and a fantastic champion, but he's arrogant like he used to be and thought the world was coming his way, and he wishes that a young him had a veteran like he is now to slap him in the face and tell him to wake up to himself -- injuries happen and careers can end any night you are in this ring, the time to cement legacies is now. Christian could say that he's never been seen as a "dangerous guy" despite innovating some of the most barbaric matches in WWE history. That's the Christian Dean Ambrose is going to get at WrestleMania. That's the Christian that wants payback for sitting on the shelf for months and questioning whether or not that's it for him. That's the Christian that is going to use all his knowledge over his storied career to hurt Ambrose and wake him up by taking his title.

I'm not sure what the plans for Bray Wyatt come WrestleMania are, but wouldn't it be great if The Rock returned and was cutting a promo in the ring and then everything went glitchy and Bray Wyatt announced that "We're here." The lights come back on and The Rock is laying with Harper and Rowan standing over him.

Bray Wyatt then spends the next few weeks claiming that The Rock is as false as the Hollywood land he inhabits. I get the feeling that The Rock may not be wrestling at the PPV this year, but The Usos could stand up for The Rock, being family and all, and take the fight to Harper and Rowan for the Tag Titles or something.

I MUST watch that.

Art Barr seemed to get the business. I actually don't know the story behind him and Eddie Guerrero, or who was really the brains behind their amazing gimmick in Mexico, but they seemed to just get professional wrestling.

On the topic of the Guerreros, I could actually see Chavo returning as Kerwin White. The gimmick was sort of stuck on Heat most of the time, but it was just really starting when Eddie died and they figured it best to abandon it. But Chavo was never the guy they were going to have win the 2006 Royal Rumble anyway.

That being said, I'd like it if Vickie Guerrero brought Chavo back and have him some opportunities. The story can be that Chavo left the WWE to get some extra training and come back better than ever. The WWE like having top Hispanic stars, so while they are trying to build Sin Cara, Kalisto and/or Ricardo Rodriguez, or whatever, you can see how Chavo goes as "Hey! That guy's back! Wow, he's gotten really good!" I'm not saying put the World Title on him, or anything, but having him wrestle Alberto Del Rio at two PPVs wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

I know there isn't much support for independent wrestling around these parts, but I just found out today that Johnny Gargano has been the Open the Freedom Gate Champion in Dragon Gate USA (booked by Gabe Sapolsky who booked Ring of Honor back when it was everybody's darling) for like two years. I haven't followed the promotion or anything, but I think that's kind of cool. Long title reigns like that aren't really done these days, and it must get tempting as a booker to switch the title to a new fresh face to keep things interesting. I admire what I believe Gabe is trying to do, and that's create a buzz for Gargano and for the eventual title change, while also giving fans of professional wrestling who like long title reigns exactly what they want.

So WWE Euroshop have began selling this....

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41HbO4Ed8pL._SS380_.jpg

And they also have it in orange, for some reason.

Regal himself doesn't seem to be a fan of it. The orange one in particular.

I've heard a little bit of a buzz about New Japan Pro Wrestling lately. Apparently they've been putting on good shows and the like. Anyone else follow them? If I were to try and get into them, what would be the best way to go about it? Here is the card for their upcoming show:

* Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Tomoaki Honma, Captain New Japan & Bushi vs. Tiger Mask Jushin Liger, Manabu Nakanishi, Super Strong Machine

* Hirooki Goto vs. Katsuyori Shibata

* Kazushi Sakuraba and Yuji Nagata vs. Rolles and Daniel Gracie

* Toru Yano and The Great Muta vs. Minoru Suzuki & Shelton Benjamin

* King of Destroyers Match: Bad Luck Fale vs. Togi Makabe (match can only end via knockout, TKO or submission)

* NWA Title Match: Rob Conway © vs. Satoshi Kojima

* IWGP Tag Team Title Match: Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Lance Archer © vs. Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows

* IWGP Junior Tag Team Title Match: The Young Bucks © vs. Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA vs. Alex Koslov & Rocky Romero vs. Taichi & TAKA Michinoku

* IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Match: Prince Devitt © vs. Kota Ibushi

* IWGP Heavyweight Title Match: Kazuchika Okada © vs. Tetsuya Naito

* IWGP Intercontinental Title Match: Shinsuke Nakamura © vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
NJPW was trying to push Naito as their new golden star, but the crowd is still all about Tanahashi. They did a poll to see who the fans would rather see close the show, and they voted for the Intercontinental match.

Luke Gallows/Doc/whatever you wanna call him teaming with Karl Anderson....that should be a sick match vs Killer Elite Squad.

That is interesting. I wonder if Tanahashi takes the IC Title in that match? I think it's meant to be one of their biggest ones, so that would make sense.

I always enjoyed David Hart Smith in the WWE. I think he struggled getting his personality across and seemed to not work well with restraints, but I'm sure he would be tearing it up in Japan. I'd be interested to see his team with Lance Archer. I had heard they were the NWA World Tag Team Champions, but I just read that they lost the titles to Rob Conway & Jax Dane. That means Conway is now the NWA World Heavyweight Champion and an NWA World Tag Team Champion at the same time. Good for him.

Luke Gallows is going to get so good working over in Japan. I can see the WWE giving him another crack in a year or two.

As a youth I always liked the "international" feel of WCW. You had all these seemingly random Mexicans/Spanish/Latino rasslers who would feud with each other, and some Japanese dudes who would feud with each other.... they were never the main focus of the show or anything, but they were always good for "something different".

I think he was mainly appearing in NXT at the time and he was getting cheered there because he was feuding with Bo Dallas. Apparently this match happened the same week 3MB formed on Smackdown, so in canon it was a random one night only face turn I guess.

Well, that and NXT is its own thing, even without the pre-taped "timing" issues. (Such as Seth Rollins being not only a face, but the top face of NXT and still debuting in full WWE as a heel). Big E Langston was a (pretty popular) face anytime he was on NXT as well, but was "the heavy" for Dolph Ziggler and AJ, making him a de facto heel on WWE TV (and also why his "I Need Five" theme makes no sense without the context of his NXT 5 count gimmick). Even after 3MB appeared on NXT, Drew still got cheers.

NXT is a strange microcosm. WWE cannon can bleed into it, but NXT cannon generally doesn't bleed into WWE (unless someone at the booth comments that they were "called up"). The only exception to this seems to be The Wyatt Family. They've pretty much remained as they were from NXT completly intact.

Everyone on this forum is making WrestleMania predictions without the fucking Lesnar factor.

I like it. This could be a really good show this year.

still one of the greatest promos of all time imo.

This is the backstory to the promo

-Crockett Promotions in the mid 80s just blew away what the WWF was doing imho.

Although I haven't watched Total Divas in a while, I find Eva Marie to be extremely fake, untalented and bitchy. Is she playing a character or is she just shallow?

That segment on Raw where she slapped Lawler leads me to believe that they were really trying to just push it as a stereotypical reality show character.

She is absolutely horrible and untalented though.

Eva Marie definitely seems dumb and shallow, but it was also definitely constructed to be even more so by the show producers/editors.

Would make sense considering that was the only reason her and Jojo got hired to begin with to act as reality stars than actual Divas wrestlers.

The amazing part is the WWE sees a lot more potential value in Jojo than Eva which is why they pulled her from the show in favor of getting her actual Divas development training at NXT.

Yeah, I noticed that JoJo pretty much became non-existant in the second part of the show.

AFAIK, Seth Rollins is the only guy who's been called up to the main roster who got an actual heel reaction when he returned to NXT. Big E & the Wyatts all got cheered.

Had a dream that Emma and Paige debuted on the main roster as a "tag team", but they had both had their personalities removed and were generic smiling and waving divas. Paige was wearing a bright neon blue one-piece singlet/gear.
