I've always wanted to get into watching WCW from like 96-99. I was always pro WWF so I didn't get into the Monday Night Wars as much.
I'd love to write for a site where I could review old episodes of wrestling and give them grades in the same way that writers grade the shows we see now

Watched Slamboree 95 which I don't think I had ever seen (strange because I'm a huge WCW fan) last night. The Renegade boggles the mind. I then watched Great American Bash 95 afterwards with an AMAZING Ric Flair/Randy Savage WHC match. Really good.
I was just talking to Newstead about this last night. I want to go back and do a WCW Nitro/PPV watch from mid 95 until the end of the year. It's just so awful.
Hogan had plans to bring in the guy who bought the name rights to Gorgeous George in 95 so he could say he pinned Gorgeous George. Hogan was out of control that year.

At least once he started with the NWO it wasn't consistently cringe worthy like 1995. There's sooooo much there.

Her in ring career was short, but she did wrestle.
Also, Nancy Sullivan is one of the most under appreciated hot broads in wrestling

She began her career as a fitness model and like many other women at the time, she had to make some compromises (the whole Vince ordeal) to further her career.

I heard that they have banned Curb Stomp again and I support this because half of the audience of WWE today is kids and you wouldn’t want them to do moves like Curb Stomp or piledrivees etc which could result in serious injuries or even death.

Look at the first one, he knees himself in the face he lands so awkwardly from it. Plus you're being driven down with more vertical force than you would be on a German suplex. The one at 45 seconds was a precursor to a powerbomb that damaged that guys back. Though considering how he landed it would surprise me if the chokeslam didn't already injure him, the powerbomb basically folds him in half.

Kids are going to do moves regardless of what type of era of wrestling they watch. If they go back and watch Raw's from like 94-99, they are going to be doing pile drivers, bad looking Germans, VaderBombs from the top of roofs...etc.
I think almost all divas in that era had kissed Vince at least once on screen
The way Stephanie was booked at the time, especially during her tenure as the general manager of Smackdown, there's nothing off the table. Even a storyline where she's impregnated by either Vince or Shane.

I don't think it is banned. It was refreshing to see him with the Superplex / Falcon Arrow combo.
WWE programming would be more interesting if performers were to win matches with their secondary finishers every once in a while.

Classic AJPW/Early Noah was the way to go. 2 or 3 moves that could be match Enders but didn’t necessarily do so every time they land. Then have one move that is a one hit kill, but only gets brought out for the big matches.

He does have some quirks. I am fairly new to his podcast. What's your take on it, Noid?
I don't trust his take at all. It sounds very "worked." A lot of the stuff he says makes no sense, and he throws people who were telling the truth under the bus.
All wrestling podcasts are too long
I would listen to a wrestling podcast if it was like 5-10 minutes. It shouldn't take someone the length of RAW to explain why they disliked RAW. Just give me the scoops and thoughts as bullet points plz.
That's a fair take, but I honestly prefer listening to Bryan Alvarez lose his shit ranting each week than actually watching Raw. That says something about the product.
Bruce is entertaining in doses. Listing to multiple episodes burns me out on him. I actually enjoy Bischoff but he is so incorrect about a lot of things that burns me out as well. Tony is great but again, feeling burnt out since Starcast. I enjoy E&C, Austin and Jericho with a good guest and I listen to almost all the F4W Empire shows. Big fan of the new Pacific Rim podcast they have on there. The only recap shows I can listen to are from F4W or if Austin does a recap episode with Kellar, Metlzer or JR.
Bischoff is just a cunty liar. It's fair enough you enjoy those wrestling podcasts, but something about it just humanizes and gentrifies the personalities so much.
Ahahaahahahaha
Watching Osamu Nishimura vs Minoru Suzuki now. They do the common early match spot where they go into the ropes in the lock up and one guy pats the guys chest after the clean break. But in this case after Osamu pats his chest Suzuki immediately bitch slaps him, and then spits on him.
Suzuki fucking rules.
Suzuki is the best thing in the world right now. One of the hardest things I have with puroresu, and this is just my personal take, is that they do these sort of routine things that play out as real cliches that kind of sacrifice fight psychology, which to me, is part of the big draw of Japanese wrestling.
For example: I hate that they always psyche up and do the forearm exchanges. I was just watching random New Japan matches and it happened in every single one of them. It would appeal to me more if it were just a few people whose gimmick it was to really love getting hit in the head -- whether it's to psyche their opponent out, or just prove how tough they are, whatever. Like, Ishii doing it, or Goto with the right opponent. But I don't need to see Tanahashi doing it with Ibushi, you know?
The weekly podcast that I always listen to (Between the Sheets) is between 5-8 hours long.
I also listen to Cornette's podcasts plus Stick to Wrestling and a bi weekly podcast. On a given week I listen to around 10-12 hours of podcasts a week.
I do listen to Cornette's pretty religiously now. I stopped for a while (no idea why), but he's such an amazing orator with some great takes. Still one of the sharpest minds in wrestling and the internet has no idea.

Or stomp them like Bryan does, or do a German suplex, or a Pedigree, or a Boston crab, or a DDT, or a headscissors, or a Coquina Clutch, or a Coupe de Grace...

I know Big Show always had a pretty hefty sole to his boots but jesus christ, at 6:58 it looks like he's wearing The Goons hockey wrestling boots. Worth watching for the sandbag slams anyway
And a still of the boot, that's ridiculous. Even with those high heels he wasn't really much taller than Rodimer or Smith who are meant to be several inches shorter.

I like Ishii's think with Macabe and sometimes Goto, where they'd just clothesline each other. It reminds me of two rams headbutting each other. But Suzuki's version of that is so great. He takes the shot, sells, then pops straight up, even laughing at times. And his laugh is so disturbing. And it doesn't hurt (heh) that his forearms tend to have an extra snap on them that make them look that much more devastating.

Monday night raw during the 90’s did the his at times. Like even with outside interference, a wrestler would hit a random Russian leg sweep and get the 3. That’s why when Rollins hit the superplex/Falcon Arrow combo I was like WTF. More matches need to end that way

Strike exchanges are tied to the concept of "fighting spirit" which is a big part of Japanese culture.
I prefer strong style over everything (which is why Ishii, Goto, and Suzuki are my favorites from the current crop of NJPW) so I don't get tired of them.
What bothers me is them doing the "19 count" spot way too often.

July 15, 2002 Continental Airlines Arena (is that a city?)
• Before the Raw opening (remember those?) we start with Paul Heyman talking to The Undertaker backstage where it's announced that the main event tonight is The Undertaker/Brock Lesnar vs Rob Van Dam/Ric Flair.
During this segment, Undertaker mentions how he makes people famous so I think that's where it all began (I remember the whole "I'll make you famous" thing).
• The Raw opening finishes and we see where we are and for some reason we're just shown the name of the arena and not the city and state like we usually are, although last week we were just shown the name of the city and no state.
https://i.postimg.cc/52MbLw80/z1.png
Maybe next week it'll be the name of the street?
• We start with the nWo's theme blasting out but Vince comes out instead.
https://i.postimg.cc/bvdZF7wr/z2.gif
It was actually weird seeing Vince come out with nWo's theme and entrance and I actually can't remember that from back in the day.
Anyway, Vince grabs a mic and announces that we've just heard the nWo theme for the last time and that the nWo are officially over (probably because Nash's quad exploded last week).
Vince says that the WWE have to move with the times and that's why he's going to announce new GM's for Raw and SmackDown, with Raw's GM being announced within the hour.
Vince's promo did leave me wondering what the original plan was with the nWo and Triple H, with the nWo trying to get Triple H to join them. Was Triple H going to join them? Was Triple H going to say no and be involved in an angle that pitted him on his own against all of the nWo?
We'll just never know.
Unless someone does know.
• The first match is a six-man elimination match (I love elimination matches, especially unexpected ones like this).
It's a shame this doesn't really happen these days. Both elimination matches and unexpected "special matches" on Raw.
It's Jeff Hardy/Bubba/Spike vs William Regal/Chris Benoit/Eddie Guerrero.
- Eddie eliminated Spike
- Bubba eliminated himself via DQ
- Jeff eliminated Regal
- Jeff eliminated Eddie
- Regal returns and hits Jeff with the brass knucks and Benoit eliminates Jeff via KO whilst applying the Crippler Crossface.
It was a fun match that I actually enjoyed. I would actually love to see more of that kind of stuff on Raw these days.
• Later backstage we see Tommy Dreamer talking to Rob Van Dam and then after RVD leaves, Steven Richards appears and challenges Dreamer to a Singapore Cane Match which Dreamer accepts (another unexpected "special match" happening on Raw, I might add).
We return from a break and Richards' music hits and the match is now.
At one point during the match, Richards hits Dreamer over the neck with a cane and the impact looks pretty brutal, along with the extremely loud "SNAP" noise the cane made when it came into contact with Dreamer's neck.
https://i.postimg.cc/NfDXL7y6/z3.gif
Later in the match I actually thought Richards had won after this:
https://i.postimg.cc/D0Dtcb0B/z4.gif
But Dreamer kicked out.
Right after it, Dreamer smacked Richards over the head with a cane and the cane just exploded on impact and made a "SNAP" noise that was ten times louder than the "SNAP" noise I mentioned earlier.
https://i.postimg.cc/634SppYZ/z5.gif
Dreamer won and was left like this:
https://i.postimg.cc/YSKp10sp/z6.png
It was actually a fun match to watch which Richards totally dominated. I think we're getting to the point where Richards debuts a new theme and that it'll be his last WWE theme, as backstage with Dreamer earlier and during the match, Richards kept saying "You'll see!".
At the moment, Richards is using Kronik's Theme that's a remake of "Love Dump" by Static-X, so I'm sure it won't be long before he's using Jim Johnston's remake of it.
• After the match we see Booker T and The Coach comes to ask him about his match tonight and by the end of the interview Booker makes The Coach do a "Coacharoonie".
https://i.postimg.cc/5tKj8bLp/z7.gif
After it, Lawler asks if Coach is Caucasian and not long after that, Booker asks Coach "are you sure you're black, dawg?".
Booker is ending his promo in his usual way but stops as we see Eric Bischoff appear.
https://i.postimg.cc/7hk42Wsm/z8.png
• After the break we see Vince come out to no music who then introduces Eric Bischoff as the new Raw GM.
Bischoff comes out and we see a series of small memorable moments that together create a big historic moment that I'm sure we all remember so vividly.
https://i.postimg.cc/nVBwz1yS/z9.gif
- The Hug
- The Handshake
- Bischoff's Thumbs-Up
- Vince Raising Bischoff's Arm
JR's deadpan commentary during that was great though:
Lawler: I used to sit in the same broadcast booth every Monday night with Vince when he would wish death upon Eric Bischoff and now they're hugging each other, look at this!
JR: They're probably picking each other's pockets.
and
JR: I've got twenty-five years in the business and it comes down to where Eric Bischoff is my new boss. My God, am I lucky fat Oklahoman.
I do want to mention Bischoff's theme and that on the WWE Network, it's been dubbed.
I've seen clips of this moment on the internet and it's always shown Bischoff coming out to "Back in Black" by AC/DC, but I honestly can't remember Bischoff coming out to that theme when I first watched it back in 2002.
I remember him coming out to his "I'm Back" theme and for years I always wondered why I remembered him coming out to that theme when in fact, he came out to "Back in Black", as shown by the numerous amounts of videos of that moment that have appeared on the Internet since then.
Well, I've done some research and it turns out that I'm not going crazy or anything like that, as apparently, Bischoff coming out to "Back in Black" was only ever seen by North American audiences, as they watched it live.
Back in 2002, Raw was still being shown on Friday nights here in the UK and in the UK showing (and pretty much every other country), his theme was dubbed with his "I'm Back" theme.
It's taken me sixteen years to find that out.
I don't know what to do with my life now.
Anyway, bad attempts at comedy aside, it's back to Raw and Bischoff enters the ring and delivers his promo, a promo I remember mostly for the fact that Bischoff always had his back to the hard camera, so we got a cameraman in the ring instead and we saw the crowd behind the announce table for the longest time ever.
• Later in the show we're at ringside with JR and Lawler and JR announces the death of Jimmy (as JR called him) Miranda who was a WWE employee who recently passed away.
https://i.postimg.cc/XNBXyrLz/z10.png
I can't remember WWE employees who aren't wrestlers or other on-screen talent getting this kind of treatment when they've died but I actually think he's the only WWE employee to get this treatment, so I'm assuming that he was either very important within the company or his death was very tragic.
• Hardcore Championship match now and it's Bradshaw vs Chris Nowinski.
Bradshaw comes out with his new "Texas Hardcore Championship" (but it's not referenced as that on TV) and in reality, it's just a toy replica of the Smoking Skull Championship with a Texas flag sticker and bull horns on it.
https://i.postimg.cc/tTCWj9HH/z11.png
The match starts and it quickly ends up backstage (I always liked it when Hardcore Matches would go backstage).
Bradshaw then attempts to murder Nowinski by jamming his head in a crate, however, as that was happening, Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli appears from the world's most pointless door and whacks Bradshaw over the head with a plank of wood and pins Bradshaw to become the new Hardcore Champion.
https://i.postimg.cc/Fz6BSPx7/z12.gif
When Stamboli appeared, JR said "Wait! There's that Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli!" and Lawler said "Who's that!?".
I also can't remember Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli having this funky techno number as his theme:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wAftoc6GqxQ" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
We all know the WWE loves stereotypes, so it surprises me that Stamboli was given this theme as it sounds more "Stereotypical Australian" than "Stereotypical Italian (American)".
• After that we see Big Show enter Bischoff's room and he asks him to make a match at Vengeance between himself and Booker T and Bischoff does so and that is Bischoff's first WWE match that he made.
During the segment, Bischoff accidentally called Big Show "Giant".
A break happens and when we return we're still with Bischoff but he's talking to Stamboli who is trying to cut a promo but keeps struggling to deliver his lines.
Bradshaw then appears from nowhere and pretty much decapitates Stamboli and takes the Hardcore Championship back.

July 18, 2002 - Wilkes-Barre, PA
• We start right from the opening pyro with Chris Jericho vs John Cena.
Was Cena's nickname at this time "The Rookie"?
I ask because ever since Cena debuted, Micheal Cole has always called him "The Rookie" or "This Rookie" but even though at this time Cena was a rookie and Cole is right by calling him so, it's just the amount of times Cole uses "Rookie" during Cena's matches is crazy.
It's almost constant.
During this match against Jericho, Cole used "Rookie" about three times in quick succession so I decided to count how many times he would say "Rookie" when referencing Cena and by the end of the match, Cole said "Rookie" ten times and it was a really short match as Jericho got himself DQ'd.
I might actually have a "Micheal Cole Rookie Count" or whatever during Cena's matches from now on.
• Anyways, after that we see Marc Lloyd outside waiting for the new SmackDown GM and a white limo pulls up and inside is Bischoff.
• The Hurricane vs Chavo Guerrero now and it's a short match which Chavo wins after making The Hurricane tap out to a STF (when was the last time someone won a match with a STF?) and after the match, Chavo grabs a mic and challenges Rey Mysterio Jr. to have his debut match in the WWE be against him.
• After that we see a black limo driving up backstage and Tazz says "Does anybody take a taxi anymore?".
Inside it's Vince and he tells Marc Lloyd that the new GM may already be inside the arena.
• A break finishes as we see Bischoff backstage talking to Rico.
Rico gives Bischoff his card and tells him that if he ever needs his services then not to hesitate to call him. After seeing that, my first thought was "so that's how 3-Minute Warning began".
Bischoff then leaves and he comes across Vince and the two talk but they don't say anything noteworthy.
• It's Billy & Chuck vs Hardcore Holly & The Big Valbowski and this match is basically a "Velocity Match" as the "mini-tron" was displaying the Velocity graphics and the arena lighting was changed to green.
https://i.postimg.cc/KYRS1Mbq/z14.png
At first I thought it was a mistake with the "mini-tron" and Cole claiming that it was to advertise the "hot new show" that is Velocity was just a cover-up for the botch, as it was obvious by the sound of Cole's audio that his audio was recorded later.
Then I saw that the arena lighting was green too and I thought, "oh, maybe it wasn't a mistake after all and it is just one big advertisement for Velocity".
But then I realised that I'd been had when I saw this:
https://i.postimg.cc/V6q7vfJZ/z15.png
Micheal Cole and Tazz aren't at the announce table, yet I'm hearing them call the match.
It turns out that this match is an actual match from Velocity that's being shown on SmackDown and being portrayed as being a "SmackDown Match".
What's going on?
I can only guess why Vince & Co. decided to edit in a Velocity match on SmackDown and pretend that it's happening on SmackDown and so many reasons are flying around my head that I can't really name them all, as I'd be typing forever.
Anyway, Hardcore Holly & The Big Valbowski won and after that, Valbowski's old "Val Venis Theme" played instead of the theme he had when he was "The Big Valbowski".
• We get another "Extreme Blast Of The Night" but this time those top notch 2002 graphics have changed slightly (they added the "Tower of Power" logo and some confetti).
https://i.postimg.cc/NfkkHCfF/z16.gif
The "Extreme Blast of the Night" was just Hogan & Edge saving Rikishi from Lance Storm, Christian and Test.
• Later backstage we see The Rock warming up in his locker room and Eric Bischoff comes in and tries to sign him to Raw but The Rock refuses.
The Rock says that when he becomes Undisputed Champion at Vengeance, he can go on any show he wants.
He can go on Raw, SmackDown, The Osbournes, The Sopranos and he then says he could even "go on Frasier and kick him right in the nuts if he wanted do".
That line got a big laugh from Cole & Tazz.
The Rock then does an impression of Frasier and also of himself kicking Frasier in the nuts.

• After a break, Vince McMahon comes out to announce Stephanie McMahon as the new SmackDown GM and out comes a very young looking Stephnaie.
https://i.postimg.cc/J0wSGY7K/z18.gif
It's crazy that she was only 25 at that time.
Stephanie takes the mic and she even sounds young.
It's actually quite jarring.
Listening to her talk, she actually sounds like a female. She has a very "feminine voice" whereas now, her voice is quite deep in comparison.
It's mad.
Stephanie ends her promo by saying that she is going to throw Bischoff out of the arena and the camera follows her through the Gorilla Position and my how the Gorilla Position has changed.

Back then, it's so small and dimly lit that it actually resembles a crack den.

From what I've read House Show attendance has dropped the last year. The average show seems to do around 1,500 - 2,000 people in attendance now, compared from 3,000 -- 5,000 in years past. #WWE #RAW #SDLive
Ticket prices too high or a reflection on the current product?

Seems like there is "no point" to that move.... Does pushing him in the air do anything to make the "impact" of the move more "punishing"? Wouldn't it just have the same "impact" as if he just did his flip in the right spot?
I think it would hurt a bit less since landing at a perpendicular angle would have more force than a 45 degree angle

Never seen it but in the above clip i posted apparently it was edited and it explains something that came out of nowhere and explains the "do not disrespect me in my ring" speech.
When Big Show slaps Nick apparently there was an edit where he body slammed him, Nick popped up and no sold it then got that slap and took another slam and this time sold it. They just edited in a way that made the slap look like it happened for no reason.

I had no idea about Black and Vega. Last I'd known, Black was in a long-term relationship with Isla Dawn dating back to before he signed with WWE and Vega was engaged to Austin Aries for ages up until earlier this year.
Lol they were definitely fucking in NXT well before getting out of their respective relationships. Such is life with dating in wrassling.

The Rock then does an impression of Frasier and also of himself kicking Frasier in the nuts.
https://i.postimg.cc/nzTn7t5T/z17.gif
• After a break, Vince McMahon comes out to announce Stephanie McMahon as the new SmackDown GM and out comes a very young looking Stephnaie.
https://i.postimg.cc/J0wSGY7K/z18.gif
It's crazy that she was only 25 at that time.
Stephanie takes the mic and she even sounds young.
It's actually quite jarring.
Listening to her talk, she actually sounds like a female. She has a very "feminine voice" whereas now, her voice is quite deep in comparison.
It's mad.
Stephanie ends her promo by saying that she is going to throw Bischoff out of the arena and the camera follows her through the Gorilla Position and my how the Gorilla Position has changed.
https://i.postimg.cc/CLxsbHZ4/z19.gif
Back then, it's so small and dimly lit that it actually resembles a crack den.
Can't imagine ever being this bored.

I remember DDP saying "Make me famous" in 2001
I am guessing some aspects of it was used in the Faux DX reunion.

Nothing wrong with exchanges. Its over.
I just find them annoying when they are in every match I see. I don't like seeing everyone work the same in any style.
Yeah, I think I covered that first bit. I just think it's pretty poor psychology sometimes. There are times when it makes sense to me and I enjoy it, but other times it is about as dumb as North American wrestling can get.
I get the 19 count spot though. That's started cropping up elsewhere too. For some reason, I associate Ambrose with the labored 9 count spot. Felt like he was doing that every match for a while.
From what I've read House Show attendance has dropped the last year. The average show seems to do around 1,500 - 2,000 people in attendance now, compared from 3,000 -- 5,000 in years past. #WWE #RAW #SDLive
Ticket prices too high or a reflection on the current product?
https://i.imgur.com/i7qHxGf.jpg
I would guess that it's a compounding problem. The product is crappy, so less people go, so they jack up prices, so less people go.
Still, glad we exist somewhere that saying that isn't a bannable offense.
I think most people just ban themselves.

I didn't really start watching wrestling until 1998. I dabbled in watching WWF on Saturday mornings but we didn't have cable until 1996. My cousin wrote for his high school newspaper and had to cover Wrestlemania 14 for it. So that's basically when I got hooked. So I'd say Undertaker vs Kane (due to the mystique and the backstory) and clearly Michaels and Austin.
But the one match that hooked me into watching every single week every single hour for the better half of 15 years was HHH and Rock SS 98 for the IC belt in a ladder match.
I know that there are so many matches before this but still.

Watched wrestling as a kid but was more into the toys than watching the product, and then stopped watching for a bit, and then got pulled back in by Undertaker vs. Mankind in the boiler room brawl when Paul Bearer turned on Taker because I was all "Whoa!"
Then I saw Bret/Austin at WM13 and was "officially" hooked I think.

The first wrestling related memory I have was from the first time I saw Royal Rumble 1994. I'm not sure if I watched it live (I would've only been two so I doubt this, I'm assuming I was around 4 when my dad rented the vhs.) But I vividly remembered all the heels dominating Taker, I was mesmerized by the green shit coming outta the urn, I assumed that's what people turned into after they died. I was amazed by the post match speech from inside the casket.
And if that wasn't enough Bret Hart was my favorite wrestler and he heroically co-won the Royal Rumble. I was hooked.
Stopped watching around 2003-4 but once again became hooked one night in April 2007. Was on the phone with my best friend because she would always call me every night and talk about nothing. I was flipping through channels and saw Raw was on. At the time I'd always check it out but normally change the channel after 5 minutes. This time John Cena was wrestling Shawn Michaels in England. They ended wrestling for like an hour and I just remember my friend getting annoyed with me because I wasn't paying attention to anything she was saying because I knew I was watching a classic.
That hooked me in until about 2014. The product just became too unbearable even though all my favorite indy wrestlers are there which is really ironic. I still go to WrestleMania and some of the shows that weekend but really that's just as an excuse to go on vacation and see my girl from Mexico who comes up to see me during that week. Hopefully the move to Fox will change things and make wrestling fun again.

I can't even pin down a wrestling memory that got me into it. I was born into a family of wrestling fans. I just remember Hogan in general. I do have a pretty clear memory of Flair-Steamboat from WrestleWar '89 though.

Oddly enough, as a kid in the 80's, I was all about Hogan/WWF but all the matches I remember watching live are NWA/WCW.
What was the one match that got you guys hooked on wrestling?
Mine was Hogan vs Warrior.
Undertaker and Yokozuna's program.

Sorry to disappoint all four of the guys here that read my 2002 ramblings every Sunday but there won't be anything from me tonight as I've been out of action today with a really bad cold.
My day has pretty much been spent sitting on my couch doing absolutely nothing apart from watching repeats of Friends, as there is never anything on TV on Sunday's during the day and that was the best thing that was on.
So Vengeance 2002 will most likely be getting watched next weekend when I'm hopefully at 100%.

A total of 2 seconds of Kiera Hogan was all I need to see for interest.
However, it looks well put together enough to watch for other things besides a little eye candy. So long as they don't go full Wrestling Society X cheezy or even Lucha Underground camp.

I just had this weird premonition of them doing Braun vs. Cena at Mania. I can see Vince throwing a fit and saying "We need Braun to be a top babyface" and them deciding that Cena is the best choice for someone to get cheered against and for him to take the torch off. I can see Vince going into "star-making mode" heading into this year's Mania, since it's apparent they've got no one left.
Seth will get Brock and AJ can have Shawn.

They keep doing this to themselves. If they would have capitalized on Braun when he got hot instead of trying to work around that to keep lazer focus on Roman, your little premonition would be wholely unneccessary.
They need to go back to sewing seeds and slow builds of multiple people instead of trying to hotshot a couple of people when they get into a jam. They need to go back to being flexible on changing gears when a heel or face turn is warranted by the crowd.

Eh, I'm not sold on Braun at all. But if you're going to try and depend on full-time guys, he and Seth should be looked after better on the Raw side. Man, how compelling?

I was just thinking that to myself today as I was watching SmackDown.
A while ago I thought to myself "when the WWE come back here, I really don't think I'll even try to get tickets" but today as I was watching SmackDown, I thought "if the WWE come back and it's a SmackDown show in Scotland, then I'd probably get some tickets."
That's mostly because of The New Daniel Bryan.

Not for me, but even if it was I don't think it's very good.
This almost feels like parody. But not intentional parody. If that makes any sense. One, it seems like a throwaway song written for absolutely anyone by some studio writer. If they land a big name, great. If it launches a career, fine. If it sits in a pile unused, it doesn't matter, because they get paid in volume and they've got two dozen more ready to go. The production is just poppy enough to appeal to your average 6 year old for real and also generic enough be able to establish that you're in a nightclub on some procedural police drama cold open.
It seems like it's intended to be used like a new "With My Baby Tonight" was with Road Dogg; a gimmick to help her get over that is both not neccessary and not going to work long-term.

I watch it quite often, and don't mind it.
My biggest gripe has been something that is a bit beyond their control: usually, when they start trying to build someone homegrown to start filling out the midcard, they get lured to NXT, and it feels like all that work and planning was for nothing and they have to start over again with someone else. It's one thing where you have someone like Martinez dropping the TV title to Jeff Cobb because you know why, but if Martinez wasn't a champ, he would have just disappeared one day, possibly in the middle of an angle, and that would be that.
Do you feel like giving anymore details? I haven't watched ROH in some time. The product feels "cold."

So what does everyone think Vince will do on Raw? I'm hoping he ends this ridiculous brand split, but I think he will announce Hulk Hogan as the new GM.
I can see it being one of two things.
1) Baron Corbin will already be in the ring for some reason, be it for a promo or after a match and then Vince will come out to the ring, mention the recent bad ratings and feedback and call out Stephanie.
Stephanie will come out and Vince will say that things need to change and he's going to "shake things up again" and he'll start at the top and so on and just generally alluding to Stephanie being fired.
Vince will then "surprise us all" by actually firing Corbin instead, sending him back to the regular active roster.
I can see a segment like that basically happening to make Corbin be the public punching bag for Vince's recent failures. Everything that's went wrong for Raw recently, Vince will tear Corbin apart for it live on TV.
2) Vince still tears Corbin apart (and possibly fires him) but he also announces a new "Draft Lottery/Superstar Shake-up" or whatever in the near future.

VENGEANCE 2002
• The show opens with the "Ezekiel 25:17 quote" from Pulp Fiction, just so the voice-over man can say "vengeance".
• The mix of music (of a certain genre), pyro, graphics and the voice-over man* saying "And now!", still gets me really pumped-up and excited for the PPV even though I've already seen it before.
As you'd expect, I'm now going to point out how that doesn't happen for me anymore with the current product.
These days, the opening graphics for PPV's are just five seconds long, which is just enough time for the voice-over man to say the name of the sponsor and then the event and that's it, the graphics disappear and we see the crowd sitting on their arses whilst some horrible song is playing and we have spotlights flying around the arena.
The opening graphics for this PPV was around fifteen seconds long and during that time, the music and graphics gets you pumped-up and then after that, you get pyro going off pretty much everywhere for around five seconds and then the various camera shots of the crowd going nuts.
You can't help but get sucked into the crowd's excitement. I'm even getting goosebumps now just thinking about it.
It's such a drastic change and as TLC is tonight, I'll really notice the difference when I watch that.
* I know his name but for the life of me, I can't remember it at the moment and it's bugging the absolute hell out of me.
• Anyway, Michael Cole and Tazz kick the show off and explain that they'll be calling the first half of the PPV regardless of the brand of the match.
The opening match is Bubba & Spike Dudley vs Eddie Guerrero & Chris Benoit in a Tag Team Table Match.
Throughout the match, Eddie kept having his own wrestling matches with the tables as he was always failing to hold, carry and set-up the tables.
https://i.postimg.cc/Y9VKMgX8/zaq2.gif
At one point during the match, Cole said "Bubba is intense but he loves to have fun!" and I just thought "Wow, he's been saying that people love to have fun for over fifteen years now."
The eliminations came in quick succession and all during the last five (or so) minutes of the match.
Spike eliminated Eddie but it looked a bit painful for Eddie and it actually looked more like Eddie put Spike through a table.
https://i.postimg.cc/L4cBwTk5/zaq3.gif
A minute later Benoit eliminated Spike.
https://i.postimg.cc/Z5cQJgjV/zaq4.gif
And then fifty seconds later, Bubba won the match by putting Benoit's ass (quite literally) through a table.
https://i.postimg.cc/ZKD9XKzc/zaq5.gif
Even though all the eliminations happened one after another and there was no "real threat" of someone being left fighting a handicap match, it was still quite an enjoyable match.
• Jamie Noble vs Billy Kidman for the Cruiserweight Championship was next and I was looking forward to this match without Lalwer perving on Nidia like he did at King of the Ring.
It was a decent match and there wasn't much in it that I could talk about other than Tazz calling Nidia a "blushing tomata" (whatever that is) and me being surprised that Cole and Tazz actually called a Tiger Bomb when Noble won with it.
As we all know, Cole usually just says "OH! What a move!" these days.
• The European Championship match is up next between William Regal and Jeff Hardy.
During the match, Tazz almost called the European Championship the "Europenis Championship", he then got flustered and asked where Europe was.
He got "Europeni-" out and stopped.
Tazz had no interest in this match as his voice sounded so lethargic and he kept asking pointless questions, such as what is up with Hardy's hair and if Hardy is wearing facepaint and if he is, then what kind is it.
This match wasn't even five minutes long as Hardy won suddenly with a surprise roll-up.
Regal then tried to kick a photographer.
https://i.postimg.cc/FR7WhHnx/zaq6.gif
I love Regal.
• Next was Chris Jericho vs John Cena and the only reason I'm mentioning this is because the "Micheal Cole Rookie Count" was sixteen (which is a new record).
The match was six minutes long.
Just imagine Cole's commentary for that match if he can manage to say one word sixteen times in six minutes.
• JR and Jerry Lalwer come out after the match to JR's theme and take over from Cole & Tazz.
• Yet another title match (not that I'm complaining) and it's Brock Lesnar vs Rob Van Dam for the Intercontinental Championship.
Seeing RVD just reminded me of a figure I had of him at the time.
https://i.postimg.cc/yxJ0JJFL/zaq7.png
https://d9nvuahg4xykp.cloudfront.net/7013406753602078486/7949871773652131090.jpg
Also, during the match, I noticed a woman in the crowd dressed as Chyna.
https://i.postimg.cc/Kjf8tTTn/zaq8.png
You don't really see female fans dressing up (and I'm not counting little girls dressing up as Bayley and Sasha Banks).
Anyway, the match ended after Charles Robinson DQ'd Lesnar because Paul Heyman pulled him (Robinson) out of the ring as he was counting to three.
Robinson then attacked Heyman after RVD floored Heyman with a baseball slide.
https://i.postimg.cc/hPVhj8kX/zaq9.gif
That continued until Lesnar pulled Robinson off of Heyman and Robinson's landing made me think that he could have injured/broken his arm.
https://i.postimg.cc/mkDN4XX1/zaq10.gif
I then thought that I had seen something similar before and I was right.
https://s3media.247sports.com/Uploads/Assets/617/955/3955617.gif
It's Lesnar doing pretty much the exact same thing to Charles Robinson ten years apart.
Both times Lesnar picked Charles Robinson up by his trouser waist on the outside of the ring.
It's just a shame is was at opposite ends of the outside.
• Big Show vs Booker T in a No DQ, No Countout match and there wasn't really much to talk about here apart from that this match is Eric Bischoff's first sanctioned match in WWE but I already mentioned that previously during Raw.
Also, Booker won via a Huston Hangover which was nice to see.
• Next we had Triple H come out to choose a brand to join.
Bischoff came out and nearly said "WCW Superstar" instead of "WWE Superstar" and then Stephanie came out and Lawler started perving on her.
I have no idea how Lawler could openly perv on someone when he knows that her father is listening.
When you think about it, he was basically telling Vince directly how hot his daughter was and what he would like to do with her.
I also have no idea how Vince could listen and allow hearing a then fifty-two year old man talk about his then twenty-five year old daughter in such a way.
I don't know who is worse, Lawler or Vince.
Anyway, Triple H is just about to go to SmackDown when Shawn Micheals comes out wearing a Vengeance T-shirt like a jobber because the nWo is dead and Micheals is now apparently a face.
Micheals grabs a mic and basically asks Triple H to come to Raw because they'll have fun together and in the most anti-climatic way imaginable, Triple H agrees.
He turns and says "Sorry Steph" laughing and hugs Micheals and that's how we all find out that Triple H has chosen to go to Raw and after Triple H and Micheals leaves, Bischoff laughs and tells Stephanie that he has testicles and then Stephanie slaps him and leaves.
After that, we see Marc Lloyd randomly asking Rikishi (for some reason) what he thinks of Triple H going to Raw because we all care about what Rikishi thinks.
• With our lives now being completed after finding out what Rikishi thinks, we see Booker T, Goldust, Terri and a sneaky appearance from a boom mic.
https://i.postimg.cc/QCC4mk7s/zaq11.png
I just enjoy pointing out boom mics.
• The Tag Team Championships are now being defended and it's Hulk Hogan & Edge vs Lance Storm & Christian who aren't officially known as "The Un-Americans" yet.
During the entrances, Howard Finkel introduced Lance Storm and Christian from their respective hometowns in Canada and Hogan from America but when it came to Edge's introduction, we weren't told where he was from like we usually are (obviously because he's from Canada).
During the match, Lawler ripped into Canada and then spoke about how great America is and complained about America giving handouts to smaller counties and how those countries are never thankful.
Basically, Lalwer back then sounded like Donald Trump now.
In the end, Lance Storm and Christian won the titles after Jericho (wearing a Fozzy T-shirt) hit Edge with the title and Lance Storm pinned him for three.
• It's Main Event time and it's a Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed Championship fetauring Undertaker, Kurt Angle and The Rock.
Before the match, we got a recap music video of everything that's happened during the lead up to this, all to the tune of the PPV theme and it got me thinking that they should do this more these days as it hypes you up but only if the music is right.
The match was your average Triple Threat Match and it was enjoyable but there was a downside and that was Kurt Angle and his bodily fluids.
During the match, Angle really needed a tissue as his upper lip was just thick with snot (and I'm not posting a picture because it's gross).
Seeing that got me thinking that I've always hated that about Angle. Sure, he can't help it but it's just as he wrestles, he sweats like a beast and he gets absolutely soaked in sweat and even though that doesn't bother me, it's that when he gets really soaked in sweat, you just know that his saliva is going to go crazy and during this match, it did, that was the next step. He kept drooling everywhere and he's done it many times before and it does bother me more than the sweat but not much, however when Angle gets to that stage, you just know that his nose is going to run like a river and as I mentioned, it did and that was just awful.
The worst thing was that Angle just didn't seem to care. It was like he didn't even know that his upper lip was flooded with snot. I just got that feeling of really wanting to hand him a tissue.
I also felt really bad for Undertaker and The Rock as they had to wrestle with Angle like that. More-so Undertaker as just has Angle's nose was at its worst, he pinned Undertaker by placing his head on Undertaker's chest and you could just tell that snot was going to be wiped on Undertaker's attire.
It's like Angle has three stages during his matches:
1: Sweat
2: Saliva
3: Snot
You can forget the "Three I's" as we've got the "Three S's" but let's just be thankful we don't have four stages and "Four S's".
Anyway, I didn't mean to write a whole chapter on Angle's snot, so I'll move on and say another downside was the ring itself.
It must have been the world's squeakiest wrestling ring as throughout the event, it just kept squeaking with every movement and it was pretty bad during the Lesnar/RVD match but it was at its worst during the main event as we had four people in the ring constantly moving around.
So yeah, that was Vengeance 2002 but not to end on me complaining about Kurt Angle's nose or sqeaky wrestling rings, here's a gif of The Rock from during the main event (which he won by the way but I'm sure we all knew that).

And the women's match didn't seem 'as sharp' as WWE's do.
Oh man, I hate how WWE sets the trends for wrestling, even for the "alternatives," and they've just subconsciously accepted the tropes.

Really wish the nWo had a better ending, like if Booker won against Big Show they would have to be disbanded.

That's what being number one is. Coke does Vanilla and then Pepsi does it.
This is awesome is a TNA trope though.

So what does everyone think Vince will do on Raw? I'm hoping he ends this ridiculous brand split, but I think he will announce Hulk Hogan as the new GM.
I expect the "smart" fans like at every live event to bow at the fact Vince grace them with his presence.
The same one's that want him to die and call him out of touch Idiots!

(who else saw that “I’ve got swag” look at the end of that pull-up?!) Anyways, today I was testing my 1RM (1 rep max) on squat, deadlift and pull-up. I didn’t get a video of the squat, but I hit 190 lbs (I should have hit 200 but I got in my own head and just missed it. Next week though, it’s mine!!!!), hit 230 lbs on deadlift (not posting the video because my form was shit, that will also be improved by next week) and hit a pull up with 35 pounds around my waist. You can see I had to fight for that one! Not too shabby though! ➡️I’m so happy to be done with 12 weeks of pure strength training. Ready to start incorporating more hypertrophy work and increase my fat loss in my coming weeks of training. ➡️ALSO, a HUGE THANK YOU to @kennysantucci for helping me today. He’s been a huge part of my training over the last year and I still lean on him for tons of knowledge and tips.
