Of course he thinks he's on the level of a Rock/Austin. That's always been the company narrative too. Go back to 1999 and watch how they de-emphasize Rock for Triple H despite H showing nothing.

Biggest myth the WWE tells about the Attitude era was that Triple H was over or important. Great stuff against Cactus Jack in 2000, and that was a hot year, but Fully Loaded drew as well as Judgment Day. I think the only time Triple H has ever made a difference to figures was when he returned in 2002 and the TV rating popped and the Rumble did a huge buyrate, and then everyone worked out that Triple H has no fucking babyface charisma and tuned out again.

This dude's ego has gotten him a long way, and he clearly cares a lot about the wrestling industry. Not enough to take himself out of it though. I cringe whenever he crawls up the asshole of the fans as some sort of savor or developmental savant, when the guys he's hiring are the guys he would have called geeks a few years ago, until he needs them to make it looks like he can teach students how to get good grades.

Every year we have to get ready for the inevitable Triple H match, because that's what people are really craving. That's why WrestleMania 23 did such a shockingly low buy-rate. Which babyface gets to look like a million bucks by beating Triple H this year? Daniel Bryan? Well, he opened Mania the next year. Sting? Well, he gets to job. Seth Rollins? Tag division. I guarantee you Triple H's match is more important than Seth Rollins' next year. That's how much beating Triple H means. Welcome to the fucking opener. And WrestleMania 32 -- don't tell me that Triple H winning his second Royal Rumble and heading into that show wasn't about him headlining the biggest show they've ever done.

Some rumors going around the net regarding WWE's plans for Kane.

Assuming its true, Balor is only getting the leftovers from the Kane-Strowman feud and won't even get a major moment against Kane since that's being saved for The Shield instead.

Kane is being built for a match with Braun Strowman, and will probably go over Dean Ambrose on the way to that happening in December, according to Wrestling Observer.

Finn Balor will be booked to get his win back after the Strowman match and The Shield will take Kane out before he leaves the company, however.

I enjoy a lot of their NJPW work as they like to tell more of a story in the ring. If anyone sub's to NJPW World early ahead of Wrestle Kingdom, I'd recommend their match against Taguchi Japan. Considering Ricochet is also in that match, it's more grounded than you would expect.

And hell, if I'm wrong, there's more than enough good matches on that show to wash the taste out of your mouth.

Find their matches enjoyable and tolerable even if they are the definition of indie spamfest and flippy type guys. NJPW pretty much uses them and all tag matches simply to entertain the crowd and get them hot/active prior to the more important stuff happening later on. WCW had the similar mentality with its cruisers when they were around.

According to the Observer, WWE had another round of internal talks over the idea of bringing Hogan back to the WWE. Like every other time, they are worried the most over the potential media and sponsors backlash if they do so. Sponsors don't like to be associated with things that could cause potential serious PR trouble to them. To them, WWE firing Hogan was great since it removed a big potential headache and the last thing they want is to find out WWE was never serious about the firing and now have to worry about his return looming.

Same for those within in the WWE who don't want the negative attention that will result when Hogan is brought back with open arms. Makes their anti-racism comments a lot more hollow and less sincere.

This also ties in a way to Vince and WWE being terrible at developing new mega stars because they constantly have to rely on Hogan and other former big stars to generate mainstream interest because they currently don't have any real mega stars. Same why Cena is at the stage of his career where he will constantly be inserted into high profile stuff instead of being used to develop future mega stars for the WWE.

In a podcast with Jericho he mentioned that some people were telling him to get to 500 legit (his actual legit heaviest weight was his ecw stint at 535), and JR back around late 1999\2000 wanted him down to around 380. That's around the time he got shipped off to ovw and they were doing legit weigh ins monitoring his weight. Going up in weight no doubt had major impact on his knees.
