Nia Jax should be, at best, Tiffany Stratton’s hired gun to back her up against Becky Lynch.

About the only thing I can say about Jax is this...
...I'm hoping that Rhea had the decency to hide a bottle of plum sauce at ringside to deal with that aroma after Jax sat on her. That is, if Rhea's not offended by the musky scent of what faced her.

Ilja always wins me over. He’s got this innate charisma about him. Great facial expressions too. He reminds me of Mick Foley in some ways. Wes Lee is really good. He seems “small,” but he’s a good worker for that size.
If they HAD to do a cruiserweight division somewhere, he’d be a pretty obvious anchor for it.

I hope Dragunov wins the NXT Title. It’d be cool to see CM Punk come in and feud with him.

Elimination Chamber is going to be in Perth next year in Optus Stadium. Ed Sheeran has set the attendance record there at 73k. I bet WWE is going to try and beat that and the All In attendance in one swoop.
The most interesting thing about this to me is that it means the Rumble, February PPV and WrestleMania will all be in stadiums.

I think they’d have to go small with the staging to beat that number. They’ve every chance as they’ve not been over there for years. But is beating AEW/setting a new record even an “achievement”? I put achievement in quotation marks because everyone knows they’re striking a starved market with a stunt show. It’ll sell largely because it’s wrestling in Optus Stadium.
Mr. Nerfect
09-21-2023, 03:45 PM
No, it’s not really an achievement. Sounds more like a paid show. But it’s funny to see WWE doing 4 stadium shows in a row.

I think its a good thing for her. Get the WWE machine behind her a bit, give her a chance to work more without a title on her and develop especially in ring.
I thought whoever was booking her TNT title run did a good job for the most part of hiding where she needed work but that cant go on forever and she didn't seem to be improving in ring in AEW probably because the booking was hiding her areas for growth.
Shes got a look, she carries herself like something special, if she has the aptitude to go to the next level in ring you gotta believe the WWE system is a place to drag it out.

I couldn’t find the NXT thread, but I decided to watch some this week since they seem to be putting effort in. Some thoughts:
* Becky Lynch looks like she’s had some work done.
* Wrestling fans are fucking disgusting.
* Becky is kind of obnoxious on the mic.
* Hate how wrestlers all get their personalized graphics.
* Tiffany Stratton needs some polish. She should pay Nia Jax to be extra backup at No Mercy against Becky and then Becky should bring Jade Cargill in.
* The Family’s shtick seems so antiquated. I hate how that shit is filmed. Just be people. I was reading that Stacks, or whatever they call him, was trained by Tom Prichard. They’ve probably got a future, just ease up on the stereotype. Los Lotharios being in NXT is a good thing.
* Trick Williams can talk. He and Dominik were a cut above everyone else on this show so far.
* Noam Dar is doing a Matrix thing and I’ve got no fucking clue why. That movie is almost 25 years old. Unless they are going to WBD. One of the women with Noam has a good look even in the obnoxious gimmick.
* Butch and Tyler Bate was a bit goofy for what I imagined them doing, but some good stuff. Hope this leads to Butch winning the Heritage Cup and The Brawling Brutes backing him up against Gallus.
After this I had to take a break. It wasn’t horrible, but the “acting” on the show is so bad. Everyone is green, but that’s kind of a problem. They really need to dial back on some of these gimmicks too. Makes it way harder to care about the ring stuff.
Oh, how have Los Lotharios managed to avoid the Autumn Clean? They’re a couple more guys in NXT most likely on main roster money (even if on the low end of the scale).
Mr. Nerfect

WWE probably sees value in them. Young Hispanic dudes with no known attitude problems.
Maybe they could be the “next Rey Mysterio” they’ve been looking for for the last 15 years?

I doubt it, but Angel Garza has done some solid work. Good looking guy — pretty young. I just hope once their NXT stint is done they get unique personalities. Being Latino relatives who team together sinks a lot of wrestlers. Like The Colons.
Also: re-hire the Colons.

Whether you want to say there were similarities in us. I can’t lie. We were at TV, and he once pulled out his wallet, on the spot, an autograph that I had signed for him in a hotel that he still had. I’ve always liked him. I understand he’s a different kind of cat and can sometimes be challenging to get along with people, but that is probably why I like him, because I suffer from the same thing. Obviously, that’s for people to decide higher up on the food chain than I am. He’s a guy that does numbers and makes money. That would be a risk-reward ratio that from a company standpoint, they’d have to consider. When it comes to, ‘would we take him in NXT and have him on our television?’ Are you kidding me? Of course I would. I just don’t think anybody would let me. Who wouldn’t take that kind of star power? I don’t know. If I get in trouble for that, I’ll let you know.“

Punk should play the gimmick Dave Meltzer made up for him. Turn NXT into a Punk branded show. Have him act like a babyface as he goes over and the internet cries. Then slowly lead people to realize he’s not the hero he wants to be presented as.
NXT Champion Punk dropping sly disses at the AEW Title and World Heavyweight Title as he smooches up to Becky and Seth gets jealous is money.

Basically I’m saying Meng is pure accident while Jimmy Hart is careless accident.

Without even looking at any of that show, my guess is that this is "hobby horse" Chavo (Pepe, was it)? Because inanimate objects are USUALLY a way of getting over pretty hot, see: Head, Moppy, Undertaker's urn, Cody's mustache, Hacksaw's 2x4, Mitch the Potted Plant.

Elimination Chamber had 5 but 2 of those were Chamber matches.

Ah yeah, seems about right. 5 used to be the magic number for Takeover shows, so I might be conflating that. They can always throw out something else for the card if they haven’t already.
As for the lack of straight one-on-one matches: Eh, with so few matches, I can see it being totally accidental. But maybe their thinking is to really emphasize the Rollins/Nakamura match?

Apparently NWA is bringing back the territory structure.
NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE EMBARKS ON HISTORIC TERRITORY SYSTEM REVIVAL UNDER LEADERSHIP OF PRESIDENT WILLIAM PATRICK CORGAN
• The first affiliate territory for the Lightning One era is NWA Exodus Pro Midwest
• Territory is lead by NWA World's Heavyweight Champion EC3
• More territories are being explored domestically and internationally
CLEVELAND, OH - In a move marking a pivotal moment in the history of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), President William Patrick Corgan has announced the revival of the promotion's territorial system, a cherished tradition for the NWA, which harkens back to the roots of professional wrestling and the alliance's formation 75 years ago. The move is aimed at fostering collaboration, unity and the development of future wrestling stars. The inaugural affiliate territory to join this initiative is NWA Exodus Pro Midwest, under the stewardship of none other than the NWA World's Heavyweight Champion, EC3.
In a statement reflecting the essence of this moment, Billy Corgan remarked, "We are returning to the collaboration that defined the NWA, embracing a model that not only honors our rich history but also propels us into a future of young stars. This initial undertaking with NWA Exodus Pro, as well as all our affiliate promotions to come, will play a pivotal role in who appears on NWA television in the future, as well as affording those affiliate promotions consistent access to all the top NWA champions and superstars."
NWA Exodus Pro Midwest, led by the illustrious NWA World's Heavyweight Champion EC3, will see its Men's Heavyweight Championship officially recognized by the NWA-a testament to the gravity of this new chapter in NWA history. This collaboration not only signifies a mutual partnership but also symbolizes a shared commitment to the growth and evolution of professional wrestling. EC3 expressed his excitement, stating, "I am honored to lead NWA Exodus Pro Midwest into this new chapter. I've long sought a way to create a platform of opportunity for up and coming talent to "tell their story." With the WPC and the NWA, I have the right partner and wrestling's most important legacy. To have the NWA's brand, create shows, and cultivate talent, especially in the Midwest region, is something I'm incredibly passionate about. Together, we will pave the way for a future that respects the traditions of the past while pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Dare I say, we can "control the narrative."
The inaugural celebration of this historic affiliation will be marked by "NWA Presents: Samhain" on October 28, 2023, hosted at Temple Live in Cleveland. Fans can secure their tickets and pay-per-view access by visiting NWATix.com and Fite.TV.
Up next for the promotion is NWA Samhain. The event will take place in EC3's hometown of Cleveland, where he will be running the NWA Exodus Pro Midwest promotion. The lineup for the show is below.
NWA Samhain on October 28, 2023 lineup:
NWA World Women's Tag Team Champions Pretty Empowered (Ella Envy & Kylie Paige) defend against Taylor Rising & Natalia Markova
NWA World Tag Team Championship Blunt Force Trauma (Damage & Carnage) w/Aron Stevens defend against Mike Knox & Trevor Murdoch in a Medieval Knights of The Round Tables Tables match
NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Colby Corino defends against Joe Alonzo
NWA World Women's Champion Kenzie Paige defends against Ruthie Jay
NWA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 defends against Thom Latimer w/Kamille

Fans of the long-running “reality” program Total Divas are abuzz today after the announcement that the series will return starring two of the biggest divas in wrestling today, CM Punk and Jack Perry.
Sparks will fly when these two feisty hellcats are forced to co-exist in Divas Mansion, followed 24-7 by cameras, alongside some of wrestling’s other biggest Divas.
Punk and Perry, who scratched and hair-pulled during a highly publicized catfight backstage at a recent AEW event, will be joined the program by Divas including:
Shawn Michaels, the 67-year-old bushman who still calls himself The Heartbreak Kid with a straight face
Ryback, a voracious eater with a quirky personality
Low-Ki, a deep-voiced Diva nicknamed Hi-Maintenance
Hulk Hogan, a self-described former bassist for U2
Longtime fans of Total Divas should expect the upcoming season to be just as insufferable as they’ve come to expect.

So apparently Natalya said she has the most victories by submission in WWE history. She even brought up how Bret won a lot of matches by pinfall, which is why she has more.

I could easily believe it. She's been around for like 15 years or so and consistently used the Sharpshooter as a finisher in that time. Even without counting house shows I wouldn't doubt her as #1.

Let’s say Tommy Dreamer actually did hop the barricade and shoot and kill Paul Heyman live at WrestleMania 17.
This wouldn’t be an Owen situation where Vince could force the show to go on, surely the authorities would’ve shut it down because it’s an actual crime scene.
So the biggest/most successful PPV of all time never finishes and is permanently tainted by a tragedy. What, if any, long-term impact does this have on the business?

This is probably the biggest one. Lesnar isn't half as interesting (and I never thought that highly of him to begin with) as when he had Heyman doing all of his talking for him. Could they have picked someone else? Sure, but the number of people Brock actually likes being around can be counted on one hand.

Brock without Heyman feels almost unimaginable. With his look/talent/athleticism surely he still would've been a big deal no matter what but Heyman was a massive part of the presentation.
Probably right on Stone Cold as well. He's said repeatedly that even in the heat of the moment he was reading the room and tempted to call an audible and just stun Vince anyway. I'd assume they would've figured a way to finish the PPV on another night or something and maybe by then he'd have managed to talk Vince out of making that call.

This is a good one. I wonder if he even gets signed at all really, Heyman already had the book at OVW when he initially came in.
It's tough for me to a imagine that Punk wouldn't have eventually gotten some sort of WWE look by 2009/2010 or so when they were signing almost every notable ROH dude and he would've eventually had guys like Danielson vouching for him, but without Heyman he might've burned bridges quickly and never went anywhere.

Go CyNick, go! He’s probably not wrong if it’s about what I think it’s about.

Giulia apparently expected at the PC this month though there's been no official signings.

I don’t follow joshi, but from what I know Giulia leaving Stardom will be a big deal for them.

The NWA may have already blown their CW Network TV deal. Something to do with Jim Mitchell snorting coke on NWA programming (I don’t fucking know).
What’s to know?
They cut to James Mitchell in a sort of bar environment snorting coke on their programming and for some reason the CW are having second thoughts.

Lol, what’s to know? Why the fucking promotion would do something that stupid.

YEAH!
I said something about THE RYBACK that also applies to L.A. Knight (YEAH!)
If you are gonna rip someone off, it is best to rip off someone who is a draw.
The actual wrestling part of wrestling is the least important part of wrestling. A charismatic guy who isn't a complete klutz in the ring will make a promoter more money than a guy who can "wrestle good."
Source: last 40 years of wrestling.
The biggest problem here is that people treat this as an either/or thing: be it the promotions or the talents themselves. And, of course, one of the biggest persuaders of the trend is WWE. Not even a "fedbad" argument, but just how they hard-headely spearheaded style over substance. It made more sense when Vince took over from his dad and took the biggest metaphorical "sizzles" from just about every promotion he could to put together a locker room full of almost nothing but guys with tremendous personality all their own. The problems came from when they started either:
a) trying to prepackage or repackage people into cartoons. Everyone remembers the hits like Undertaker, but forgets Duke "The Dumpster" or Issac Yankem DDS in general (unless they're doing some sort of retrospective about Kane specifically and not the gimmick and timeframe)
b) hire people who merely "look the shit" and hoping that stuff like the wrestling, gimmicks, and promos just happen along the way. Especially since, over the same amount of time, the people who are tall bodybuilders ain't really built for or into this shit, and the people into this shit aren't tall bodybuilders.
So, you get to a guy like Eli Drake/LA Knight (or like the 3 other names he had in either developmental or on the main roster over time), and, for the most part, he had "star" written all over him, but he wasn't as tall as guys like Baron Corbin. So, he was minimized, embarassed, run off, let go in housecleaning sessions because there was "nothing for him" or any of a myriad of excuses. I will point out again that this is the same company that was going to release CM Punk from his developmental contract because they weren't signing him as much as the indy buzz, and didn't want anyone else getting that buzz at the time even though they themselves had zero plans for him. The same company that was going to release John Cena because Vince "didn't see it" in him. Was ready to relegate Steve Austin to "a good hand" and have him job every week (pre KotR)... but was ready to give guys like Sid or Luger or Ahmed Johnson "the boots" - as in make them the newer version of Hogan - to be positioned as the company figurehead.
LA Knight isn’t even bad in the ring. It’s more important to understand why you’re doing things than doing a lot of things.
I was wrong about him when he was basically my least favorite wrestler ever during his TNA days. I thought I was judging what I saw from him fairly, but his NWA and WWE work have changed my mind.
I feel you about his TNA stuff. It felt like he was leaning way too hard into aping The Rock in a company that already tried to do exactly that years earlier with Sonny Siaki. So, he felt like a ripoff of a ripoff. Took awhile to find his own voice, as it were. But when he did, he became a lot more tolerable.

Yeah, way more of him seems authentic now.

“Authentic” is probably the wrong word. But the Eli Drake/LA Knight character is its own living, breathing thing now.
