I know this is a shitty thing to say, but I kind of hope that TNA does go bust. Look, I want guys to have jobs and all, but TNA holds a bunch of talented people down in spots and has no clue how to use them. Imagine if a promotion that knew what it is was doing got Kurt Angle, The Hardys, Bobby Lashley, Awesome Kong, Gail Kim, Beer Money, Austin Aries and Low Ki?

Had this weird idea that Triple H could sign Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian to NXT. Although it's unlikely they would ever get a shot on the main roster, I feel like they could be an amazing boost for NXT for a few months. Working with guys like Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy could really help them all get an even more solid footing. They're probably under pretty secure contract to ROH though.

Would said promotion be WWE by any chance?

WWE barely knows what to do with three quarters of their own roster.

Ring of Honor has announced that Bullet Club members A.J. Styles, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson, and The Young Bucks have been added to the War of the Worlds and Global Wars events.
Shinsuke Nakamura was previously teased as the final name so either ROH messed up the announcement order or splurged a bit for more names recently.

WWE officials are now actively recruiting talents for the return of WWE Tough Enough on the USA Network in June. It sounds like there will be a mix of wrestlers and non-wrestlers on the show. It's said that there are somewhat recognizable names that have been recruited for the show and WWE is in negotiations with other talents. One European wrestler that was invited to a WWE tryout this week in London reported that the tryout was canceled a WWE wanted him to apply for Tough Enough instead. Another un-named indie wrestler has reportedly been all but promised a spot in the final cast. WWE is reportedly working with reality show casting companies who have worked on major TV shows in the past to recruit other talents for Tough Enough, including one company that's looking at college and pro sports athletes.

TNA talents have been told that they are now free to work anywhere except on TV, meaning they are able to work on iPPV events for other promotions. TNA talents can't work for Ring of Honor because the two companies are rivals but many are looking to get dates with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla or EVOLVE.

Despite Steve Austin addressing rumors on reported problems with WWE on a recent podcast, WWE sources indicate to PWInsider that there are still ongoing issues between the two sides. Following WrestleMania 31 Week, WWE's lawyers reportedly sent cease & desist letters to ProWrestlingTees.com regarding merchandise they sell for Austin in his official store on their website. It appears a number of items for Austin have been removed from the PWT website.
According to the Observer, Cena using the Stunner-like move now likely could be a dig by the WWE against Austin. Cena started to use it the same time the issues between Austin and the WWE heated up.

We noted before that WWE officials were talking about making changes to the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony so the event doesn't run over 4 hours like it did this year. The feeling within WWE is that they will cut down on the number of inductees next year.

Part of the reason for Sin Cara and Kalisto being immediately pushed is because The Usos will be away from the tag team scene for several months with Jey Uso out of action. WWE needed a top babyface team to challenge WWE Tag Team Champions Tyson Kidd and Cesaro while The Usos are away. No word yet on what they have planned for Jimmy Uso.

Naomi turning on Paige during Monday's WWE RAW from London was actually her being put into the spot originally planned for AJ Lee before she retired as AJ was scheduled to turn heel on Paige soon. Naomi was scheduled to turn heel a few months ago in the angle with Jimmy and The Miz but it was nixed.

Bryan was sent home after the Smackdown tapings due to being banged up. We don't know the extent of it, but he was being protected on the current European tour due to injuries and he's scheduled to get the injuries checked up on when he gets back home. He was doing trios matches instead of IC title matches with Barrett, which were originally scheduled. At press time it isn't clear if he'll be able to work at Extreme Rules, where he was to defend the IC title against Barrett. There was also a plan to do a Cena vs. Bryan match on Raw, which turned into Cena vs. Barrett as the sub. In his matches this week, he generally worked very little of the match, with his big spots saved for the very finish where he pinned Barrett with the Busaiku knee... There was concern for him even before, with people worried because he was wrestling the same style as before, and he was coming off a near career ending neck injury, with the feeling that given his injury that his body was not going to be able to hold up for a long period of time without adjusting his ring style, and that he needs longevity because he's just starting to make the real big money.
According to F4W, Bryan suffered a concussion from his match last week against Sheamus.

As noted earlier, The Briscoes are expected to stay with ROH. Triple H passed on offering them a deal after becoming aware of the homophobic slurs they had made on social media in the past. WWE Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Cemen had been the one communicating with the Briscoes, and recommended that WWE pass on them.

Shawn Michaels appeared on The Ross Report and revealed that the reason he isn't currently working with the WWE on a regular basis because he isn't passionate about it.

"I have the ability to be involved in whatever it is I'd like to take part in," Michaels said. "That offer's always sort of been there. Right now, I choose not to do that. I'm interested in trying new things. Even with my outdoor show, we're looking at changing the format of that to make it more than just a hunting show so to speak. Then obviously doing this book. I want to go back and do it when I'm passionate about it, and right now I'm passionate about other things. I don't want to make it sound like I'm too good for the WWE, I'm not. I don't want to go back and do a job I'm not 100 percent in to, it's not fair to them and not fair to me. "

Michaels went on to explain that he shot down the idea of working in WWE creative.

"It wouldn't be a great fit for me," Michaels said. "There'd be a lot of stifling going on. I've been able to sway them on things other people couldn't. I'd be open to the Pat Patterson gig, where you have a couple of projects and you could write in from home about it. If you're going to be there every week, you might as well go back and be an on-air character and make more money"

WWE has announced The Miz vs. Damien Sandow for Monday’s RAW in Albany, New York. The winner gets to keep the “Miz” likeness.
According to reports, Miz is rumored to be leaving again soon to do another WWE-backed film.

It appears WWE will be releasing a three-disc DVD set on The Kliq this summer. Amazon currently has a listing for a “WWE: The Kliq Rules” DVD that is scheduled to come out on July 28th.

The description reads like this:

“In this WWE Network “Reunion” special, all five notorious Kliq members (Triple H, HBK, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, X-Pac) reunite! Plus, get an exclusive documentary on the history of the Kliq, including “The Curtain Call”.”

WWE.COM: You became a prominent name on the indies pretty quickly. Is there anything you credit your rapid progress to, whether a rivalry, an opponent or competing in a specific organization or country?

UHAA: It’d definitely have to be competing in Dragon Gate Japan. Over there, we’d sometimes wrestle six times a week, and l learned from those guys, who took me in like family. Whenever I went there, my skills just improved. By the time I left, I was completely different; I wrestled completely different. Japan was definitely the place that helped me fine-tune my skills. My first tour was with Neville, Ricochet and Rich Swann, and those guys really helped me out. Dragon Gate USA (DGUSA) was actually what gave me the opportunity to go to Japan, so after Japan, I got the opportunity to wrestle in England, Germany, Scotland, the Netherlands. I did it in just six years. Of course, the United States, too. For me being here [at the Performance Center], I definitely credit Dragon Gate Japan. And leaving there was a bittersweet thing because I’d made such close connections with people. It was sad to leave, but at the same time, they were happy for me, and I was happy I got to take the next step in my career.

WWE.COM: You’re known for your creativity between the ropes, as well as for your athleticism, as a big, muscular dude who’s also very nimble. Who were your inspirations in the ring?

UHAA: I grew up watching mostly The Attitude Era, especially when Kurt Angle came along. He had me glued to the TV every time he was on the screen. You’ve got Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero, who had similar backgrounds to mine, working overseas and making a name for themselves before ultimately getting to where they got. Of course, there’s Triple H, The Rock, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. “Stone Cold” was the guy everybody could relate to. He was the guy coming to work and beating up on his boss, which everybody who works a regular job can relate to. What people loved about him so much is the fact that he was doing what they just dreamed of doing. The Rock was just always entertaining. Guys like those are the ones who really got me motivated to do what I do. After I started doing it for long, I moved away from trying to wrestle like certain guys and I developed my own style. It took some time, but I think I figured it out after a while. I have a lot of learning to do, and I’m excited to be here as an NXT Superstar in recruitment and learn from these coaches, who are the best coaches you can get.

Part of a recent interview WWE.com had with Uhaa Nation. http://www.wwe.com/shows/wwenxt/uhaa-nation-interview-27304186

While a recent report said that TNA Wrestling was behind on paying its talent, those are not the only people the company has been slow to compensate.

Multiple freelance workers — each of whom has a long working relationship with TNA — have told Sporting News over the past two weeks, on the condition of anonymity, that the wrestling company is well behind on paying the production staff and has shorted them on past dates.

Those workers are still owed money for the One Night Only pay-per-view tapings which took place Feb. 13-16 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., which concluded 60 days from publishing date.

The industry standard in television is that freelance workers should be paid within 30 days. Bigger entertainment companies such as ESPN and Fox pay within 14 days.

... Several people have said the accounting department has used a variety of excuses on why pay is always late. The most common is that the check has already been cut and was in the mail, only for people to not receive it for weeks on end or at all. Another excuse used is that the checks were delayed due to weather.

The production team member said that this is the third year in a row he and others have had to wait more than 60 days to receive payment. He and others are now telling other freelance personnel to not work for TNA.

Fucking love Cesaro. It seems the grass-roots movement to get him over might be slowly popping up again. But I'm cool with him dominating the tag team scene with Tyson Kidd for a while.

I say they pair up Curtis Axel & Jimmy Uso while Jey is out. I could explain why I want that, but I'm not going to be bothered.

Nothing is a good fit for his personality, because his personality is "huge douchebag".

Actually no, there is a perfect fit for him. Put him in the cage with George St. Pierre in an actual fight, since he believes his gimmick so much.

A lot of the talk is regarding Destination America. It's been described that TNA has become the tail (DA) wagging the dog, and the people from the network, unlike with Spike, have no clue about wrestling. As noted they've put pressure on regarding who they want pushed, which is all cosmetic, or fame. The other frustration is that the people at the station seem to change their minds weekly when it comes to TV. While Impact hasn't been moved, there is a lot of questioning moving from Wednesday to Friday, which DA appeared to do because with Smackdown moving from Friday, they thought they would get the wrestling fans used to watching on that night. They were originally doing tons of replays and shoulder programming and now all the shoulder programming has been dropped and they are only airing TNA wrestling on Friday nights from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., with two airings of Impact and one airing of Unlocked at 1 a.m. Unlocked has now been moved from Saturday at 10 a.m. to Friday at 7 p.m. to Thursday at 1 a.m. (It was moved from Friday night to Thursday night last week with nobody even knowing, and then it never aired on Thursday due to a last minute change by the station) to Friday at 1 a.m. In addition TNA Greatest Matches show that aired on Saturdays has been dropped. They are apparently now all about just the Friday night first-show rating, although they are doing the automatic replay with the idea it gets the West Coast viewers. The feeling looks to be that all the other programming was hurting the Friday rating. If you remember when the deal was signed, Dixie Carter was pushing it as a station that would give them far more air time and more than just the two hour show every week. Now Carter is trying to push the idea that they will start creating more Internet content. The problem never was that they didn't have enough content, though.

The honeymoon is very much over. The Discovery channel signed TNA as an experiment and I was told that the experiment turned out very bad when it comes to generating ad revenue (and you can watch the shows and see the ads) and they expected far more viewers. Impact is, by far, the highest rated show in the history of the station, which on would think would be a huge positive for the company's standing. I guess they were expecting a far larger percentage of the loyal Spike audience to come with them. Destination America right now is in 61.7% of the homes Spike was in, but they are doing (in February as compared to February one year ago) 30.2% of the viewership for the first run show and even throwing in the first replay, you're getting less than half. But the channel has a ton to do with it when you go from a fairly strong channel (Spike) to a channel with maybe 15% of the viewership. UFC has never done close to Spike numbers on FS 1 even though FS 1 was in maybe 88% of the homes Spike was. It's just the nature of TV viewing. I think there was the feeling that wrestling is popular on TV, there were tons of fans used to watching wrestling on Friday nights and TNA's fan base as far as TV viewing was thought to be extremely loyal.

Pretty much looking at another ECW-TNN type situation. TNN was responsible for a lot of stuff that helped contribute to ECW's demise happening a lot soon than it should have.

Lucha Underground also looking at a lot of negative stuff in the near future. Talks between them and JR broke down, going to lose a lot of steam because of the long delay between seasons, could be looking at some bad financial problems soon, and plans for non-tv touring likely being dropped. Viewership also being nowhere what they want or expected in the US (mostly due to Hispanics and tv wrestling fans being more WWE only viewers).

this is news to me. I don't see Eddie's image being plastered anywhere.

WWE owns the rights to the footage. good luck with that one.

http://www.tmz.com/2015/04/19/eddie-hot-stuff-gilbert-family-sues-wwe-death-using-image/

The WWE is cashing in on Eddie "Hot Stuff" Gilbert even though he's been dead for 20 years ... at least according to his family, which is dragging the league to court to get a cut of the action.

According to docs ... Eddie's dad, Tommy Gilbert, is in charge of the estate and says the WWE is plastering his son's image and likeness all over TV and other media platforms without permission -- and, more importantly, without paying them a dime.

Tommy says old wrestling footage of Eddie -- a pro from '79 until his death of a heart attack in '95 -- is being used to promote the WWE.
Interestingly, Eddie's fam isn't suing to block use of the footage -- they just want a judge to force the WWE to fork over a share of its profits, plus damages.

A WWE rep tells us, "Through the years, WWE has acquired the legal rights to library footage of various former wrestling organizations including Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Mid-Southern Wrestling among many others. WWE has made substantial investments to acquire these copyrighted works and has the legal right to use them."

The rep adds, "Similar cases in the past have been unsuccessful, and we expect this case to be dismissed."

Ron Wright and brother Don were so damn great in their day. Two of the best pure heels ever imho.

an older Ron Wright was phenomenal as a manager in Smoky Mountain Wrestling as well.

may this time be as painless as possible for him. :(

http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-top-stories/118-daily-updates/42153-sun-update-gilberts-sue-wwe-espn-ron-wright-in-hospice-roh-new-japan-lucha-underground-ends-season

--Very sad to report that Ron Wright, one of the all-time greats of East Tennessee Wrestling, has entered hospice car. He's been ill for some time. Wright was a top heel in the 60s and 70s and later became a manager for Smoky Mountain Wrestling of the Dirty White Boy.

taken from the official program of Smoky Mountain Wrestling's
Night Of The Legends (August 5,1994---Knoxville Civic Coliseum)

Ron & Don Wright

Ron & Don Wright were more than a tag team, they were an institution. The perennial Tennessee tag team champions, they faced and defeated every team to come through the area for years, and their fame spread far and wide in wrestling circle--if you planned to come to East Tennessee to wrestle, you knew you'd have to face the Wright brothers. So well known were they in this area that newspaper headlines simply called them by their first names. But as great a team as they were, they were also top singles stars. The brother who took most of the spotlight was the Kingsport, the number one hillbilly , Ron Wright.

Ron Wright had a reputation among the wrestlers as the meanest man who ever lived. The fans thought he was the toughest wrestler in history. And it was universally agreed on that he was the most hated man walking on two legs. If he wasn't fighting wrestlers, he was being stabbed or shot at by fans! But he survived it all, and kept on winning.

Who can forget the feud with Whitey Caldwell, which saw the two men main event in singles and tag bouts for over 12 years until Whitey's death? The brutal Tennessee chain matches which were Ron's specialty were feared by all. Ron's career was filled with titles, blood, record crowds and glory, and tonight, the wrestler turned manager reunites with his brother Don in the Knoxville Civic Coliseum for the first time in 20 years.

sadly Ron has passed away.

may he RIP.

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2015/04/21/22356711.html

There aren't too many photos of Ron Wright without blood. And the legendary Tennessee heel, who died today, didn't hit a gusher in his forehead with the nick of a razor blade, but rather in a far more violent fashion, with a much bigger weapon.

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2015/04/21/wright285.jpg

"We used to have those Brass Knuckles fights down here," recalled Rick Connors, a Ron Wright trainee. "We'd bleed profusely. I mean, I ain't talking about razor blades. We had those filed-down knucks, it's like a pair of brass knuckles -- I've got one pair left here -- with a giant blade, about one inch blade, it's about an eighth of an inch high, and it would go plum to the skull. We really believed in authenticity back in those days. If you'd seen some of those matches down here, around Tennessee, back in those days, when you left, you knew it was real. Plus we did hardway, guys got black eyes, bloody noses. It was real."

As they say, there's wrestling and then there's rasslin'. And out in the hills and hollows of eastern Tennessee and Kentucky, nobody practiced rasslin' quite like Ron Wright in the 1960s and 1970s. Even though he did not spend much time on the national stage, folks who worked with him say Wright's brawling tactics and motor mouth earned him as much acclaim in his backyard as any world champ could hope for. "Ron Wright is, was, and will always be the king of the east Tennessee hillbillies," said Scott Spangler, a.k.a. Brian Matthews, former announcer for Smoky Mountain Wrestling, in The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: The Heels. "People in east Tennessee loved to hate Ron Wright."

You won't get much argument from Wright. "I was pretty hated and I guess I still am," he said upon his induction into the Knoxville, Tenn., Wrestling Hall of Fame. "Looking back, it probably is deserved. I was pretty raunchy."

And bloody.

Dr. Tom Prichard will second the thoughts of Rick Connors: "[Ron Wright] is the quintessential, classic, stereotypical east Tennessee redneck rebel, flag waving, old whomp-your-ass rassler. That is him. In the olden days they had this thing that they called the chisel and they used to sharpen it up like brass knucks, and they'd sharpen it like blade where it'd come to a sharp point and they'd get the guys juiced that way."

Every great heel needs a believable, sympathetic babyface, and for Ron Wright, and his "brother" Don Wright, it was Whitey Caldwell. The Wrights were the Hatfields to Caldwell's McCoy, and their rivalry stayed fresh for years on the strength of ever-more-imaginative booking. In November 1962, Caldwell came from behind to win the final four falls in a shave-your-head match against Ron. A few years later, the Wrights resorted to a chloroform-laden rag during a televised match to knock out Caldwell and take the Tennessee tag title from him and Les Thatcher. In July 1970, when Ron relied on a loaded boot to kick his opponents into unconsciousness, Caldwell wore a crash helmet into the ring, and then clobbered Wright with it for the winning fall. Tornado matches, chain matches, strap matches with 10-foot-long-leather bindings ... you name it, and they did it, and the ensuing carnage was enough to propel the small territory to the cover of national wrestling magazines.

Ron Wright said Caldwell had a short fuse that he knew exactly how to light it, so their matches became even more believable. "The first match we ever had, I broke his shoulder. I didn't mean to. It was an accident. I threw him over the ropes and he came down wrong. Every time I talked about that, that'd set him off." Wright said. "He didn't like it when I badmouthed him. That made me do it even more. So when he got in the ring, he was already mad."

In an interview with the KayfabeMemories.com website by Steve Webber and Ron Gott, Wright talked more about Caldwell: "I drew so much money with him. There was very few matches I got in the ring with Whitey that there wasn't blood, I'd say 95 percent of our matches I had with him or that anybody else had with him. He was so self-conscious about being little that he'd just beat you to death. That's just the way Whitey was. That's why when you got in the ring with him it was a fight and you knew it, and that's why you'd draw money with him. If I was ever at the mall or something and saw Whitey I'd go into a store or something to avoid meeting him because he'd run over and knock your head off instead of ignore you and walk on by, that was the temper that Whitey had over the matches."

In his hometown of Kingsport, Tenn., in the early 1950s, Wright began wrestling as a teenager at a Boys Club. After a few years, he decided to step up his level of competition by squaring off with pros that passed through the area. "I kept challenging them, they kept rubbing my nose in the mat stretching me out pretty bad, I kept on and on I wouldn't quit," he explained to writer Gary Langevin in 1995. "Then a bunch of them kind of took a liking to me." Wright played some football in high school, but wrestling killed his amateur status. Though he turned in a couple of years with a semi-pro football team in Baltimore, he achieved more infamy as a bad guy. He held the Southeastern title three times, the Tennessee brass knuckles title twice, and did work some in the Carolinas and Florida, as well. For most of his career, he had a day job at a pressman in Kingsport, while his night job consisted of inciting riots.

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2015/04/21/WrightRon_ref.jpg

Upon learning of Wright's passing on April 21st, just days after entering hospice care, wrestler/trainer/broadcaster Les Thatcher called him "one of the greatest heels I ever worked with and an East Tennessee legend."
Wright did not disappear after his in-ring days were done following a car accident in the mid-1980s. He trained a few select wrestlers, like Connors. "Me and a friend of mine drove to Kingsport twice a week, and we worked out in a barn, an old tobacco barn. You'd take a body slam and dust would fly to the ceiling. It was a good way to break in, though."

As well, Ron Wright acted as a manager for both the Fullers and then Jim Cornette's Smoky Mountain Wrestling His gimmick was a foreshadowing of sorts; he managed from a wheelchair, claiming that he had a heart problem -- and then in April 2011, he did have a pacemaker installed.

While his body couldn't perform, Wright never lost his gift of gab, said Spangler. "Listening to Ron rant and rave, I began to notice that Ron's speech patterns were reminding me the way an old-fashioned Pentecostal tent revival preacher would preach," Spangler said. "Even at his age then, ol' Ron Wright still had the people in the palm of his hand." When fans started getting restless during a feud between "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony and Tracy Smothers over the burning of a Confederate flag, Wright, sitting ringside, didn't flinch a bit. "He just looked at me and winked and tapped the top of the blanket." After the show, Spangler asked Wright what he meant by the tap. "In that east Tennessee drawl of his, he said, 'Them ol' boys don't know who they were a-messin' with. I had my ol' 9-millemeter under that blanket.' "

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2015/04/21/Wright_Ron_in_2011.jpg

Cornette got lots of extra publicity by trucking out the likes of Wright for legends nights, and on his Twitter feed today, he paid tribute. "Ron Wright was a household name & a cultural icon to three generations of East Tennesseans, and boy could he talk," wrote Cornette. "One of the greatest promos, hottest heels and toughest men ever in our sport, Ron Wright, passed away this AM. RIP to the King of Kingsport!"
In his final match, Wright, with a hip and shoulder replacement, came out of retirement to pin Anthony as part of a dream matchup show in Johnson City, Tenn. That day -- August 12, 1995 -- was Ron Wright Day in Kingsport. "Talking about a territorial heel, he was just fantastic," said "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel. "People outside of Tennessee and around there are not going to know him. But the wrestlers that sprouted out of there, such as myself and Tim Horner and guys from that region, we owe everything that we are to people like Ron because we stood on his shoulders for years."

In the match description for Daniel Bryan vs Bad News Barrett on WWE.com, it says that Bryan is “undergoing diagnostic testing to see if he can defend his title at Extreme Rules.”
Likely going to be a last minute decision if the IC match is happening or not this weekend.

Regarding why WWE Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan was sent home from the recent WWE European tour, a WWE source stated to PWInsider that Bryan is indeed injured.

Bryan reportedly suffered an injury on April 9th at a WWE live event in Dublin, Ireland as he teamed with Dolph Ziggler and Erick Rowan to defeat Sheamus, Bray Wyatt and Bad News Barrett. We're not exactly sure what happened to him but there was an injury in that match that got him sent home.

When Bryan was first sent home, WWE officials expected him to be out of the ring for about a month. No word yet if that time-frame has changed but there's a chance they change Sunday's Extreme Rules match against Barrett.
The Observer's and F4W's sources ended up backtracking on a concussion being what got Bryan pulled. WWE and/or their sources aren't willing to reveal what is actually wrong with Bryan.

During last night’s episode of WWE RAW, JBL said on commentary that he does not like catering anymore during Randy Orton’s attack on Heath Slater in a backstage segment that was in catering.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer notes that the reason JBL said that line is because WWE has reportedly cut back on their catering budget.

WWE has put more money into Pyro for RAW, SmackDown, Main Event and PPV’s rather than catering.
Zack Ryder is going to be pissed. Maybe this leads to him snapping and turning into a badass submission machine :shifty:

According to The Wrestling Observer, TNA might be launching a big international tour beginning with events in China on May 22nd, May 23rd and May 30th as part of an 11-day trip with 2 other shows outside of China.

A print ad listed those dates for the China events, featuring MVP, Gail Kim and Jeff Hardy as advertised event talents.

As of now, TNA talents are scheduled to leave The U.S. on May 20th, however the tour has yet to be confirmed or officially announced as several details have yet to be finalized.

Talk of doing a TNA China tour began months ago, however nothing was ever announced. TNA talents have been told they are currently booked for the May tour, and many of them are counting on the tour/pay as TNA has been running limited dates as of late.

At the tail end of his podcast today, he addressed the whole trademark issue with the shirts. He says he spoke with WWE's lawyers and understood where they were coming from, so there's no beef between them. Said there's some exciting stuff in the works with them but he can't talk about it right now. He ended it by reminding people to not believe everything they read on the internet.
From Stone Cold's recent podcast episode.

On misconceptions about him and WWE:

“They just see what they see on TV. The misconception for me is that I’m very much what you see on television or that I’m this character… Even if you’re this huge fan of WWE, they get so upset over ‘why would this guy beat that guy.’ It’s one of the terms right now, ‘we buried him.’ It’s a show and what they don’t get about our show is that we are like this ever ending, you can compare it to whatever you want… it never ends. There’s always another chapter. They get so upset in the moment of not liking maybe the chapter they are on, there’s another chapter that starts tomorrow… They don’t get that and they can wait for that. They don’t understand all the complexities that go on behind the scenes. That’s probably the biggest misconception is that the WWE is just a bunch of guys, in its simplest form, just going to the ring in their underwear and pretending to fight each other, but when you break it down it’s a massive global business.”

Some other sheet news include:

The Wild Bunch were incredibly an underrated team.

Billy Black and Joel Deaton were two great guys that had gone underutilized until they went to Japan and made a name for themselves.

They did make a handful of appearances for ECW in the mid 90s.

They were just tremendous in the ring together imho.

Billy Black hurt their chances though as he was a pain to deal with at times for bookers/promoters.

John Laurinaitis is the other person in the video as Johnny Ace. Ace was huge in Japan.

Yeah, but they couldn't even be assed to properly book Gail Kim past winning the Women's Championship on her debut- both times, may I add- and let her fuck off into piss break obscurity, so that was a tall order to make Layla even half the superstar she should be known as by now.

Apropos of nothing: I fell for Layla since the Diva Search "obstacle course" thing where she ran it, had time to spare, and crossed the finish line by hitting a split with flair and a big ass smile on her face. Yes, I was saddened to hear of the death of the great Tony Rowney back in 2009

He was a great heel and his feud with Giant Haystacks is hugely underrated.

A wrestler who spent 20 years fighting some of the best-known names of the 1970s and 1980s including Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy has died.

Tony Rowney, who was known as The Ring Gladiator, died at his home in Kettering in the early hours of Thursday, aged 70.

During his career he was the Midlands middleweight wrestling champion and an Army boxing champion.

His son, also called Tony, said: "He loved the showmanship. He was a baddie and he used to love winding up the crowd.

"He was a warrior and he fought all his life, right up until the end.

"He had an enormous character and loved his family.

"There was a tremendous amount of skill in what he did."

Mr Rowney, a former steelworker in Corby, wrestled for more than 20 years and went on to spend another 20 years as head of security at Wicksteed Park in Kettering.

His family was at his bedside when he died after losing his battle with cancer.

His son said: "His strength was amazing and he had a great sense of humour.

"I went to watch him wrestle from when I was about 10. I could see him getting hit, but I was more worried for the people he was fighting."

that video was of a match held in Japan for All Japan Pro Wrestling around 1991ish.

I know that. I miss worded the rep message, which is entirely possible and in character for me. :-\

I think what I meant was, it was kind of awesome to see footage of Kobashi that was shown on US Soil in 1992, 13 years before he would come himself.

As for Hanso, it was Seth's posts that got me watching SMW shows over the past few days. I appreciate hearing about folks I may not know anything about, and learning a thing or two about wrestling history.

did Regal talk about Tajiri being scared of music and terrorizing him with cans of Spam?

Another tag partner he spoke of was Tajiri, and let me tell you, he and Tajiri were not of compatible personalities! They had many a run in, mainly involving Regal becoming increasingly irritated with Tajiri, and doing everything in his power to antagonise him. He spoke of at one point shelling out on 20-30 cans of spam every week so he could put them in Tajiri’s bags because Tajiri was scared of fucking EVERYTHING. Spam especially. That habit continued until his wife started noticing 5 grand shipping bills on their bank account, so Regal could ship enough Spam to America to keep the joke going for the next decade. Thats when Regal admitted he had a problem and sought help. Before that, he decided sticking about a hundred cockroaches in Tajiri’s bag would be a nice parting gift as they had recently split up as a team, but Tajiri was seriously hurt in his match that night, and of course all the locker room were very concerned, fussing over him, making sure he was ok. In the midst of all the drama, Regal forgot about the practical joke and in front of EVERYONE, Tajiri opened up his back to be greeted by a troupe of cockroaches. Everyone knew it was Regal, but he no sold it completely as he skipped out the door whistling the tune from Dads Army. Tajiri retired that day, as no one in their right mind would book a man whose face is frozen in abject terror.

 First time I ever heard about this story. Love how dedicated Regal was to the joke.

Episode #11, and let's see...

Mark Curtis sighting!!!!

Hollywood Bob Holly is wrestling in a black singlet under pink tights with a black stripe down the sides. I'm wondering who his favorite wrestler is... :shifty: You can tell it's 1992, because part of his gimmick is claiming that he's dating Julia Roberts. He beats Ben Jordan, whose amazing mullet couldn't protect him from the Star Drop, which is a top rope knee drop this week. Last time it was a Missile Dropkick.

Next up is a promo from the Koloffs, Ivan and Vladamir (aka Not-Nikita). Ivan promos on how they want to take on the Fantastics.

They have their vignette for teaming up with local groups for shows. The background shows action from the first couple of shows. Sometimes, you'll see the same action three or four times in a row.

Bullet Bob, with an ugly stripped shirt and a clip-on tie, makes an announcement. They moved back the Volunteer Slam, the event where they crown their first World Champion, one week. He claims it's due to Japanese requests to see the show (the representative earlier was Wally Yamaguci (sp?), who would go on to attempt to choppy choppy Val Venis' pee pee.) They added the Tag Tournament final. He then declares that the Piledriver is illegal, which might piss off Paul Orndorff.

They did a local spot with the Fantastics, White Lightning, and Prime Time. The Four Horsemen of Blonde Mullets. Horner is rocking some Zebra Zubaz. I don't know where Bobby Fulton found his shirt, but he should have left it there. Jackie's purple shirt is somewhat better.

"Nitro" Danny Davis and "Jumping" Joey Maggs vs. the Koloffs (Ivan and not Nikita). Danny looks like he stole the Haku's tights. I think Haku responded by ripping off his mullet. Joey's mullet is kind of there. Mantell calls Davis and Maggs a "Rag Tag Team." Maggs botches a leapfrog on Not Nikita and falls out of the ring. At one point, Ivan Koloff was knawing on Maggs' face. I guess he had some bath salts earlier. After some interference from the Fantastics, the Koloffs are defeated. Well, at least Joey can say he won a match!

Before the vignette (again), they ask How Dirty can the White Boy get. I'm sure cleaning toilets while showing us his crack is pretty damned Dirty. They show a replay of the first televised confrontation between Lee and DWB, while that kindly old man Mr. Ron Wight watches helplessly. And before the match that I missed due to the video not having it, we see a solid chair shot across Prime Time's back from DWB. Fortunately, the ridiculous looking Kentucky Waterfall that Brian Lee had back then shielded most of the impact.

We find out that Mr. Ron Wright was unjustly fined $500 for the attack perpetrated by Dirty White Boy. An attack that the kind old crippled man had no part in. He had to switch to generic heart medicine, that no good Bob Armstrong! But fret not, He's got DWB running the streets and back alleys in preparation for the Volunteer Slam, stomping dogs and anyone he comes across. Mr. Ron Wright is a good and charitable man, he's more proactive in controlling the pet population than Bob Barker ever was.

We get the Vignette for the third time. Then a promo featuring three of the wild cards, Dixie Dy-No-MitebeScott, Hector Guerrero, and Paul Orndorff. Paul is off to one side, Dixie and Hector on the other. That's kind of foreboding, is it not? Dixie's mic skills are almost as good as any other member of his family that isn't named Brian. When it comes to talking, Hector sure ain't Eddie. Mr. Wonderful isn't happy about being a Wild Card. He's downright insulted. It's bad enough that his piledriver is banned in SMW. Paul is turning heel.

This leads to Hector vs. Orndorff, elimination match. Paul opens up with an impromptu Spanish lesson, the nature of the lesson earns him a fan in Glenn Beck. Hector does really good in the early going, flustering Mr. Wonderful. However, Paul is one of the greats, he starts taking over with the intensity that he's known for. Hector, comes back but a countered crossbody and handful of tights gives the win to Mr. Wonderful. Hector complains, but Orndorff cheap shots him. He then decides that now is a good time to protest the banning of the piledriver. Hector is the first victim. Then Ben Jordan. Then Reno Riggins. And finally, "Jumping" Joey Maggs. He grabs a chair, someone is going to get #5.... Hector gets it on the chair. Dixie comes out to check on Hector and Paul decides he's done.

Fourth time showing the vignette. Then out comes the Batton Twins, Bart and Brad. They come out to "Double Vision." Cute. They wear orange and have black full beards and mullets. Out comes Jim Cornette, as "Time" by Pink Floyd plays. He announces that he got the Greatest Tag Team in the Universe... the Heavenly Bodies!!!

Out they come, and what a sight it is! "Frankenstein" is blasting over the low rent PA System. Caudle and Mantel are amazed at who the team is. Several women in the front row spontaneously get pregnant at the sight of "Sweet" Stan Lane and "Dr." Tom Pritchard. We get word that "Bullet Bob" is livid at Orndorff and Hector is on his way to the hospital with numbness in his right arm. The match itself is pretty good, The Battons are a decent team, but not up to the par of the Heavenly Bodies. Lane and Pritchard have to carry these nobodies to a decent match before finally putting them away when Pritchard backdrops one of them into a gutwrench suplex by Lane.

There's a brief series of promos from the heels for Chattanooga. Mantell doesn't think much of the town or its residents, who have Summer Teeth. You know, Summer there and summer not. Next up is Jimmy Golden. Who talks of his success in Chattanooga. Caudle then speaks to that wonderful Christian Gentleman Mr. Ron Wright. He likes the town and the fans. And he talks up his history before his unfortunate accident that left him in the wheelchair. He then says he's going to lead his charge DWB to victory.

We close out with a Heavenly Bodies promo, starting with Jim Cornette. They've beaten every man with beating and had every woman worth having. Tom Pritchard then declares that they're not here for the weather, the women, or their health. They're in SMW for Titles and Money. And he justified his paycheck with that promo. Meanwhile, Stan Lane stands there and figures out how many ring rats he's going to bed after the show. The answer, if you're wondering, is all of them.

Final Mullet Count: This is the early '90s in East Tennessee, there isn't a number that large that would announce this.

Iron Sheik was a big star in Japan, not like the no good Mr. Fuji, a cheap Mr. Miyagi ripoff

Firpo is now 85 years old. He was a major star during the 60s and 70s in Hawaii, Roy Shire's San Francisco territory, AWA, Los Angeles territory & more.

This was the first time Jake had ever gotten to meet Pampero.

this was him during his glory days in wrestling.

No dates were given for a second season. The story is that they are going on hiatus because Eric Van Wagenen, the show’s Executive Producer will be working with Mark Burnett for the next season of “The Apprentice.” We had been told several weeks ago that it was likely the show would be shut down for several months for that reason. They are in talks with Univision, which could be a game changer if such a deal is completed. The mentality internally is that the product is great, but they need the financing and more exposure.
In regards to Lucha Underground's future.

Roman Reigns vs. Kane and Ryback vs. Bray Wyatt are new matches booked for upcoming WWE live events in May. As noted, WWE is planning for Ryback to be the mystery Superstar Wyatt has been referring to in his recent promos.

WWE officials are reportedly very high on NXT star Dylan Miley due to his unique look. Miley has made some recent in-ring appearances at NXT live events and is scheduled to make his official debut soon.

Miley is 6 foot 3 inches and 285 pounds with enormous hands. He's now sporting red trunks and red boots, as seen in the photo at the bottom of this post.

Miley made an appearance at WrestleMania 31 Axxess and it was said that of the many NXT wrestlers that worked that weekend who fans didn't know, Miley made everyone stop when he came out and had their attention even though he did little in the ring. Miley is very green and looks to be a long-term project. In the short Axxess match he worked, he showed very little in the ring but it was noted that he has a great look for wrestling.

Kevin Eck, a former member of the WWE creative team, wrote an article on with the women, saying that creative is a big issue.

He said that when he was on the WWE creative team, they were constantly told that there are no babyfaces and no heels in the Divas division, and that the idea was that all Divas are a bunch of catty chicks, most of which are mentally unstable. He said that’s led to lazy creative, such as the recent non-existent Bellas face turn, and the A.J. vs. Paige “frenemies” angle which he said was more confusing than compelling.

He said that giving Divas a chance is not about longer matches (we’ve seen on TV that most weeks the crowds don’t care about longer women’s matches), but creative without so many holes like the entire Nikki & Brie creative and heel and face switches with no explanations given in most cases, or when they are, they make little sense.
Article from former WWE writer's about WWE's views on the Divas division and a simple way to salvage it. http://kevineckwrestling.sportsblog.com/posts/2218634/to-truly-give-divas-a-chance--wwe-needs-to-give-them-better-creative.html

Eva Marie was formally requested by talent relations to upload videos of herself wrestling for the audience to cheer for her when she returns

WWE officials do have long-term plans right now to give big pushes to Lana and Eva Marie. With Eva, the idea is that she has been training hard with Brian Kendrick and will be a better performer when brought back to TV.

If WWE does announce Naomi as Paige's replacement for Extreme Rules tonight, WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella will be working as the babyface since Naomi just turned. WWE tested this out during the recent UK tour as The Bella Twins worked as babyfaces in Bournemouth, England.
Report was from a few days ago when it wasn't sure who Nikki would face at the ppv.

We noted before that The Great Sanada is now gone from TNA. Sanada was under contract through July but was released on April 17th. TNA officials knew back in early March that they were parting ways with Sanada. This could be the end of the relationship between TNA and Wrestle-1.

Talk of pay issues within TNA continue as The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed details originally broke by Brian Fritz of The Sporting News. As of this past weekend, TNA's production crew were more than two months late on pay. They had not been paid for the February pay-per-view tapings or any events since then. To add to that, workers received pay in April for the January UK tour, which was almost 70 days late when they're supposed to be paid within 30 days. Not only were those checks issued late, they were shorted on average of $1,000 per person. To make things worse, the production crew found out that TNA talents were finally being paid for the March tapings while production hadn't been paid for February yet. TNA had similar pay issues in 2014 that were more significant but one production worker noted that this is the third year in a row where there were issues at one point or another with late payments. While they have dealt with late payments before, being shorted money on a check is a new problem and likely was a big morale killer.

Some other sheet news include:

Sports Illustrated recently had an interview with Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman with some highlights being Nash saying how close Taker was to jumping ship to WCW and Hall no longer liking Jericho. http://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2015/04/23/wwe-wcw-wolfpac-kevin-nash-scott-hall
Samoa Joe currently rumored to be arriving in the WWE by June due to Joe booked for a bunch of indie dates next month

Why not? If she is working her ass off and comeback as a wrestling machine there is no reasons fans will hold a grudge. You get a hot ass girl that can wrestle out there and the fans will crap over her? Doubtful.

Was that from a couple of days ago?

If so, came very close to the possibility of him pissing his pants and maybe even being noticed on tv. Decided against taking a bathroom break after 2nd intermission while the game itself went into 3 overtimes.

Nice. I'm impressed. This is what she should have done before getting on WWE TV. Not her fault because they were pushing the show though. Getting hurt was probably the best thing that ever happened in her career.

She found somebody who was willing to teach her instead of just trying to get a laugh at her failing. Go out there and announce and you've never done it before. "LOL She fucked up" no shit. Hope this works well for her.
